Two dead. Two black monsters were dead and Meeth was burned along her right side and Kyna was mildly burned on her left. The dragoness was tiring, not anywhere near her full strength and Kyna felt exhaustion creeping over her, but they both kept fighting and as they dispatched another creature, Meeth's fire burning them as easily as their strange fire burned her, Kyna heard the horn sound below her.
She looked down then, trying to find a glint of white, the Knights and finally found them riding away. A retreat. The Rider knew she and Rameetheon could not afford to stay here alone and some quick calculating told that these creatures had come from the direction of her homeland. If she went that way, if she tried to fly home...she might encounter more of these creatures and be overwhelmed. But if she followed the Knights...would she just be captured again? Would they allow her to live if she moved further into their land?
Kyna knew there was only one way to find out and she turned Meeth after the Knights, the dragoness faster than the flying creatures as she started to fly straight, toward a goal. Kyna looked behind to see if the creature were following, but they seemed to have fallen back at her retreat and she focused on the ground again.
Meeth, cover the retreat.
The dragoness swooped toward the ground and her wings ballooned out, slowing her as she breathed a stream of fire across the road, cutting off the bolder creatures that followed, burning them alive before the dragoness rose into the air again, shadowing the riders down below.
