Maya laughed before running a hand through her hair, beginning to chat with her parents again as Hexus went to wander about the apartment again. They asked her if she really thought that it would be a good idea to keep him, wondering if she would even be able to take care of him with her school and what not. And, like always, she reassured them that he was in good hands. She was more than positive that their continuous attempts to get the anthro back into their house was only because they would dearly miss him, which she could understand, since she too desperately missed him while she was away.

When she heard a small whine, she whipped her attention over to the couch, smiling at the look that she was receiving from the wolf. She shook her head with a small laugh and walked over to him, sitting on the couch right next to him as she reached her hands out to undue the collar that was situated around his neck. "He'll be fine without it," Maya commented back after her parent's comment about if taking it off was such a good idea. "Besides, he's in here now, and it's obviously bothering him." She let the collar dangle from her fingers before she put it on the arm of the couch, her fingers threading through the hair that had been trapped under the material that was once around his neck. "Feel better?"

He shook himself from head to tail again and licked her hand a couple times. Having the collar on for so long had made his neck itch like crazy. He spent a good long while scratching his neck where it sat, the flattened fur fluffing up again at his actions. When he was done he shook his head and curled up again, but this time rested his head on his human's lap. He felt happy just being there with all his humans together again. It ha been so long. His own human's scent had changed a bit over the time she'd been gone. She smelled less like them and their home, and more like this strange place. After a couple moments, his eyes drifted shut and his breathing mellowed out as he fell asleep, still using her as a pillow.

Smiling softly, Maya looked down as Hexus rested his head in her lap, her hand continuing to rub against his fur as she watched as he was lulled into sleep. Obviously his day had been exciting enough, but still being in a position like this just warmed her heart. It had been a while since she was able to just sit here with her anthro and relax, basically not having a care in a world, and after thinking about it, it made Maya realize how much she had missed him while she was gone.

Her eyelids lowered before she widened them and turned her head to look at her parents. "Thank you." She told them, grinning before she looked back down at the wolf. Her parents smiled before they turned around and started getting more things out of boxes again, making Maya shift her position a bit. Gently, she lifted Hexus' head up and grabbed a pillow, putting it in place of her lap before she stood up and laid his head down on the pillow. "Here, I'll help out this time." And with that, she started helping them unpack her things.

Hexus slept for a couple hours, his dreams full of wide fields and herds of cattle, bright sunlight and his humans beside him. When he finally woke, he noticed immediately that the warm lap he thought he'd fallen asleep on was gone. He sat up and looked around, searching for her. He hopped off the couch and stretched for a solid minute before wandering through the apartment, taking in all the things that had changed. He still wasnt used to being in that place, and wasnt sure what to do with himself there. It was so small, but it already smelled so strongly of his humans. He shook himself and started sniffing around, trying to find where his bowl was. His stomach had been grumbling angrily at him since he woke up.
