As the shots began to rang out at the start, the spider morph had continued to pursue Renji further and further into another store. Relentless with his aggressive pursuit, the villain kept feet away from the boy as they tracked back and forth between shelves, and the occasional furniture that acted as an obstacle between the boy and the spider. Making use of surfaces which Renji could not, the spider morph took advantage of the dead angles and leverage gifted to him by his wall clinging grip strength.
By no means was he randomly pouncing and jumping around, for he had noticed soon that the boy was an equal match for his agility. Focusing on moving the two of them farther in and away from the commotion outside, he slowly but inevitably began cutting off his routes to escape and pressed him to the corner.
It was somewhere during the first shots that were fired that had caused Renji to freeze up in a slight panic as he ran from the spider. A splitting pain from the sudden gunfire echoed into his head but fear is what took a primary hold of him. A gun was fired? Why?! Those thoughts sent cold shivers down his spine, but it was likely he'd be met with the familiar warmth of pain as the spider managed a blow across his face. Holding the child close as he tumbled across the floor, Renji's back collided with one of the shelves as several oddities fell over.
The pain snapped him back into reality and he moved to react to another attack that was coming. Grabbing a bottled water that fell over and forcing a pulse into it, he chucked it at the Spider morph before the cap blew off, whether it hit him or just doused him in water suddenly, it gave Renji the time to slip off. Their exit however was still unlikely. On the move again, the man was sure to give chase likely angrier than before.
Anger... It was something that started to slowly bubble over the fear Renji felt. Those gunshots, who were they for? Was it the villains? It had to be with so many of it and any answer he thought of wrenched his stomach. He did not want to think of the possibility of someone getting hit, anybody but especially a friend. Then there was the spider, so willing to brutalize a kid. They were being cornered in the chase however, and Renji saw that. Still running, his breathing eased as he came to a quick decision, one he'd end up regretting later. No more running.
Upon reaching the corner, Renji let the little girl go, turning to face the oncoming spider using his body to shield the girl from his sight,
"Hey... Everything is gonna be fine... I need you to cover your ears and duck down. Can you do that? I promise you'll be safe." The kid was frightened out of her mind but she at least understood he was trying to help so far. With a whimper, the girl did as asked.
"Bout time. I'm done playing tag kid."
With murderous intent, the spider morph moved in on the pair like a fly caught in his web. Spreading his arms to shorten their escape options, his red eyes glared full of fury as he closed the distance. Stopping in his step forward as the gunshots came to a halt, a smile cracked the seams of his mouth.
"Heh… I guess the bitch put up a good fight. But not good enough… There's no one to help you now."
Eying the pair, the spider morph - despite the advantage he'd earned, was still playing it cautious. Staying true to his spider nature, he wasn't about to charge in without gauging the situation. Attempting to shatter Renji's focus if only for a moment, he watched for his words affect to hit and seized the moment to pounce. Disfigured mouth aimed at his throat.
"Funny... I was going to say the same thing about this game." Renji stood straight, his gaze fixating on the arachnid man. He wasn't shaking or hesitating - wait he did seem to be shaking, trembling even. What else was this? Heat? It was and plenty of it. Renji's body was shaking violently if the spider looked close enough, steam was even apparent in small but noticeable degree. Believing there may have been an opening to take, the man had suddenly found a sharp pain in his gut instead.
Renji was only just in front of him for sure, but the spider morph maybe didn't even realize what occurred aside from he suddenly had the wind punched out of him. Renji was at the man's side, letting out a long breath that reverberated steam,
"You villains are disgusting going this far to hurt others... To call you monsters 'people' right now is unforgivable." Renji wasn't thinking through clearly with the anger he was feeling, but what he was doing to himself was dangerous. A mode he could encourage that made everything he did much faster - something akin to Yuzuki's acceleration as a whole, but it had much harsher drawbacks as he couldn't just superheal and forget about it an hour later. He dared not do such a thing back on the training match, it was still far too reckless to control but his anger let that restriction slip.
Perhaps the spider morph was still reeling from the first, but before they even had a chance to collect themselves, they were hit again twice - once in the face and kicked in the gut, followed by an echoing, low-toned boom that cracked the glass in the storefront they were in. Being sent flying, it was likely the man wouldn't stop until he flew out to the entrance of storefront and slid to a stop. The villain was persistent to stay up, and Renji was trying to hold back himself. If Yuzuki or anyone else was coming in by then to see what happened, they'd clearly hear Renji roaring out - half of it was in pain shrouded in his anger, but it seemed to get gradually louder,
"I'll make sure you wake up in a cell, bastard! How dare you!!"
The guy was barely standing and was likely pretty pissed, wondering what the hell these kids were made of. This was supposed to be an easy round up with a bunch of newbie UA students. But that was it, there were no more words, no more thoughts, just another boom of sound before the others could see Renji flying out of the storefront with his fist planted against the spider-man's face at surprising speeds. Shouting out, he drove his fist farther before sending the villain forward, flying into a bench across the plaza walkways of the mall. They had to be out for the count now.
Renji's body looked flushed and fatigued once eyes were back on him - if there were any even. Seeing his job done, he took a few long, ragged breaths before trying to turn around to check on the kid. Instead, his legs failed him and he fell on one knee weakly catching himself even, before holding back choked throes of pain. Renji overworked himself too far, naive emotions taking over rational thought. He wanted to deny any possible truth someone may have just been killed - a friend even, and that these villains were more than willing to cause such pain to more people. It infuriated Renji. Coughing, there was a small sign of blood as it spattered to the floor tile, but it only came out once. Whatever Renji did, it brought him into bad shape and recklessly so…
With both villains rendered incapacitated, the spider morph and his partner Pinkie lay motionless in the wake of their desperate encounters. With the masochist hanging limp from the imprint of his body in the wall, blood flowing from his nose and mouth. The spider morph lay eerily hunched forward in a sitting position, almost as if he would rouse any moment to continue his pursuit of the girl. However, remaining as they were the situation all but de-escalated for the three heroes in training. Despite the tenacity and cunning of their opponents, they had won and saved the day. That at least was what they would have hoped for.
"You'd best tend to your partner. He looks to be in a bad shape."
Spoke the masked figure at Yuzuki's side. Awaiting while standing for her to make her way over to Renji and assist him, as she were to pass by him, the stranger would be gone.
Up on the second floor, the squeak of sneakers would echo among the rubble and dust of the empty hallway mall. Having cowered on the balcony covering his face as he looked on at the battles below. Hoshi had been unable to dawn his Hero costume in the time needed to defend against the gunman. Hiding himself as best able while keeping an eye on the situation, he had done all that he could while maintaining his identity.
Heart beating to the rhythm of a crescendo, he felt light as air while his legs darted in the direction of phone booth. Mind mulling over the dangerous series of events he'd just taken part in, his shin collided with a bench, sending him into a spell of pain. Attempting to hobble the pain off, he skipped along with one foot while the other was held off the ground.
There's no time. No time. No time.
Storming into the cellular shop, he didn't even bother to take in his surroundings. Spotting the phone on the wall, Hoshi jerked the receiver off and smashed in the number for the local Police Department. Tapping the back of his heel against the floor waiting for a dispatcher to pick up, when the dial tone was cut he spoke immediately.
