My Hero Academia: Next Generations

[fieldbox= Maria Amanar, #4da6ff, solid]

Having done the rest of her tests, Maria was a bit out of her luck on a couple of them, partly as her power could not be used to cheat them, though fortunately she wasn't as weak as some of her fellows. Following the rest of the instructions given, Amanar as the teacher had taken to calling her, heads for the showers for a well deserved break. Noting a briefly surprised look from the shy girl at the brief instances Maria was around the others naked, had she really thought she were a doll? Either way it was amusing, her secret would have likely surprised them all, well in regards to her quirk. The week flowed without incident, mostly doing things in her typical disciplined manner.

Maria did at least have her promised cup of tea with Takagi but as to the rest of her classmates, the doll maker made no effort in getting to know them. Though it could be said she did not turn down the attempts of others in the class in speaking with her. Also that Kasumi fellow had been rather friendly, talkative though.

On that front she also found a couple of her classmates to be highly disruptive or of low morale. From the girl who had some sort of crazed problem against one of the start pupils, to the sleepy head and Carlos, Maria had fairly little to do with any of those three, minus the occasional annoyance or off handed remark. As the days passed, Maria found it curious they put so much focus in normal studies. Well it was a nice fall back if the hero thing didn't work for most of them..herself included possibly.

~~~
Having been issued with materials to make an outfit, the young girl had been heavily insistent on designing her own. While the UA had initially been reluctant the permission was eventually allowed for this with some oversight. Truth be told she would have just worn the battle dress she had made all the time, it was far better than the drab student wear, or the horrid abomination of a PE suit.
Based off of one of her typical dresses she seemed quite at home in the garments. Smirking slightly at todays activity she had two trump cards that she had kept hidden from her peers this whole time or technically three, while the staff knew of them in full, it could give her an unexpected edge. Well provided the rumors on this test were true.. On the students being paired off, while it was a battle test was fairly obvious the teams and roles angle could be interesting at least.
Entering the spot she was directed to, there was little else to do than to wait on others to speak up or for the teacher to cast his lots, while she wouldn't be against a conversation she had nothing to start up herself, though given the silence...
"Amanar, Maria of class A, ready for orders." She says aloud as means of introduction to the instructors who were no doubt around..somewhere...[/fieldbox]
Mezame Nemuke
The rest of the tests that day went about as could be expected for someone whose quirk revolves almost entirely around either making people awake or making them sleepy. By the end of the day, Mezame was certain she probably lost a rank or two over the course of things. The longer things went on, the more discouraged Mezame would've been, should she've not been certain she'd have more of an opportunity to shine in other situations. She'd find her niche, and then the school would recognize her quirk's talent — her worth as a hero.
A week since that fateful entrance day has passed. Mezame, having yet to have made buddy-buddy with anyone, spent it doing all she could do to better herself for now — training herself physically. If she wanted to have any real chance against her classmates, she'd have to give herself as much of an edge as she could by increasing her strength and agility. Victory would be as simple as touching one of them and waiting a minute or two, but it was putting herself in a position to do so that was the challenge.
An opportunity to showcase the fruits of her labors would come sooner than she thought. Having spent all her time on training over the course of the week, all she could muster up as a "hero" costume was her usual pair of pajamas. Despite how silly they were, one couldn't deny how much freedom of motion the nonrestrictive clothing offered. If anything, it should provide her just that slight edge she'd need if the rumors about this being a combat type exercise were true. She could only wonder who she'd end up being pitted against.
Having used her Wide Awake hand on herself before they all made their way outside, Mezame was about as ready as she could be. "Nemuke, Mezame, reporting," she offered, following behind Maria, unsure of whether or not they were actually supposed to give some sort of present call.
Hearing feedback from the instructor, Takagi smiled. Though it was praise with room to improve upon, she was trying to be more creative on purpose. Of course, she could have chucked it in other, faster ways, but she wished to show off a bit of her versatility. Brute force wasn't the only way. However, that moment of satisfaction was short-lived as the students all ran the track, or tried to. The teacher called it off and admitted it was a ruse. Narrowing her eyes, Takagi had gone somewhere in the middle, as such she had already started running. Though she didn't get too far, so it was more of a warm up than anything else.
_______________________
A week passed and Takagi had done her best to socialize—with mixed results. Some of what she said came out wrong and she tended to butt heads with other students whose competitiveness rivaled her own. Other students appeared wary, and some just didn't seem to mind her whatsoever. The doll user had mingled with her at one point in the week, but other than that there was no real progress in the relations department.
Shouya seemed particularly social towards her and interested in her quirk, though Takagi gave him little information to help him deduce what exactly it is. A few teasings and clues in regards to what it could do, but not much more. He'd get a better demonstration of her abilities soon enough anyhow. The boy known as Katsumi seemed to dip into the negative however. He appeared nice, yet timid. It could be for that reason that he seems to find her a bit intimidating or unnerving somewhat. Perhaps that could yet be fixed? Today, it was unlikely.
This was the day that the class would undergo a sparring session.
Sporting her outfit, it was a bit out of the norm perhaps compared to her classmates. Her costume consisted of a form-fitting black bodysuit and a mask, of which some sort of loose, flowing robe covered the exterior. It was a fashion statement alright, but what was likely to be found odd by others is that it didn't appear to hold any advantage, nor equipment. Or perhaps they wouldn't pay it any mind, not fully understanding her quirk yet.
Either way, Takagi was determined to take the day. She excelled in combat more than anything. It served to prove her abilities.
Looking at the others, first among the ready was the doll-maker. Takagi smiled at the sight, though the mask would disable anyone from actually seeing it. Her outfit was some form of battledress and had a distinct style separate from others. It was more—dignified perhaps. The second was the sleepy girl, sporting pajamas. A bit amusing, but also on the nose considering her quirk, or part of it anyway.
"Sunemizuki, Takagi. Ready," She introduced, arms crossed waiting for others to flood in and the briefing to begin. Unlike the rest of the students, Takagi actually required an introduction, with her outfit covering anything that would otherwise give away her identity, save for maybe her long hair.
Katsumi was truly relieved to hear that he stayed behind the line during his little stunt of a ball throw. Unfortunately he was not able to come up with a smart solution to the grip strength test when it came up. As creative he could be with his quirk most outright tests of strength would always prove difficult as there weren't many ways his quirk could compete with real heavy lifters...that is unless there was somehow a random test which involved getting something fairly heavy high into the air.
Over the next week through various means Katsumi was able to recap and get the general idea of what everyone's quirk was since he showed up late to the class introductions. The stories he'd read online about U.A's hero course seemed pretty accurate; everyone seemed super cool. Pretty fitting of would be future heroes he'd think and he was one of them.
He'd try to socialize with everyone in the class though there were certainly mixed results. Some seemed friendly enough while others appeared as though they were simply putting up with his gab; those individuals that were perhaps more reserved than those Katsumi was use to interacting with. He would take note of them as to not pester them again; most likely already having apologized to said people after trying to chat with them. Shouya seemed to be an enlightening exception in Katsumi's eyes however as the two seemed to chat and get along just fine. The topic of each others quirks of course came up and Katsumi had no issue sharing bits about his born ability especially since Shouya seemed to interested. The young teleporter saw no need to hide things from his classmate as he wasn't super competitive like some others. For anyone who planned to truly pursue being a hero your quirk would most likely be known inside an out thanks to the media anyways.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the time it became the present day a full week rumors had been spreading around about some kind of actual combat test was to be held and Katsumi couldn't be more...well he wasn't exactly sure how he was feeling about it; something akin to both excitement and worrisome. Its gonna be really cool seeing everyone's quirks in hero fighting action but...I really hope I don't have to fight anyone in the top three!!! Of course he'd be referring to Suzu-san, Shouya-san and Takagi-san. The student could have even sworn some students started spreading the nickname triple threat to describe the three. Though the nickname excluded the recommended students which Katsumi was probably even more wary of. Yuzuki-san always looks so hard to approach even when she's just sitting around reading; though thankfully Maria seemed to tolerate Katsumi and Renji was a real character in his own right.
Katsumi had made sure to suit up as he sported a black vest with light gray sleeves (rolled up to just before the elbows) and a dark grey tie with matching black slacks and dress shoes. A black fedora hat tops off the outfit giving the appearance of a hands on magician mixed with an old movie mobster. Thankfully it wasn't a full on suit and the clothing was meant to be somewhat loose so his movement wouldn't be too drastically restricted However, the bleak professional outfit seemed to only make his cheerful attitude stand out even more than usual.
With his usual smile the blonde student approached where everyone seemed to be gathering for the upcoming test, stopping just before those he could see.
"Hey, Maria-san, Mezume-san." Though his words would get caught in his throat and chill would run up his spine as he looked at the third person who currently wore a mask. "Bwaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!" He'd wave his arms and hands stiffly in front of himself as he was startled by Takagi's even more intimidating presence, something Katsumi didn't think was possible. He'd rapidly take a few sudden steps back before quickly taking off his hat and hiding his face behind it, only his eyes and hair peaking over the top of it. "T--T--Takagi-san."
(The freaking out moment looking something like this.)
Fuchizaki Suzu
In the middle of the laps that Suzu was running, the rest of his classmates had finished the ball throw test and were making way over before the teacher had announced that it was all a ruse and he wasn't going to really make them run that much. Deep down he had that feeling that it may have been a scare tactic, but he wasn't going to disobey instructions from his sensei and show any sort of disobedience. The rest of the day felt like a blur, moving on from the track to finish with the remaining tests for the teach to better understand and see the quirks in action in various different scenarios.
Suzu had spent the week studying hard, working out when he could at school and after school even though he probably should be resting, and finally trying to speak to his other classmates. Many seemed friendly enough, but they all seemed to look at him differently, maybe it was his confidence. He might be coming off as too confident to the others and brushing into the realm of arrogance. Either way he was oblivious to why they might be hesitant about him.
------
Was today going to be the day they got to actually fight and experience real combat? Even if it was against each other Suzu had been itching to test his classmates and gauge how strong they really were and how they worked in a pinch. Their quirks may seem strong but their mentality might be weak. Several upper students in year two and three have been spreading rumors on purpose to the new freshman about all the tough days ahead of them and about some of the tests they may have.
They had to design their own hero costume if they had one in mind. Suzu had never thought of a costume and never even considered having one until he was asked. He crunched for time and ultimately came up with nothing that he liked as he tried to keep his Quirk in mind when it came to an outfit. So he would be wearing the school's PE outfit when it came to today's training/test. Dressed in the blue and white of U.A. he followed after his classmates who began to introduce themselves to the teacher who would be running the test today.
"Morning everyone." Suzu said with a bright smile, standing only a couple feet away from the bulk of the students that had already arrived. Sleepy, hair, doll and teleporter had arrived before him which was surprising since he always tried to be the earliest out of everyone.
~ ~ Matsuda Yuzuki ~ ~
GaKQq9g.jpg
As Yuzuki ran the laps through the track, she would often turn her attention to the side of the track and see how her fellow students were going through. She knew what to expect from them, a couple of them were unsurprising, while all others had quite interesting quirks. Particularly, her eyes were set on the three on top of the list: Sunemizuki, Azuha and Fuchizaki. A couple honorable mentions would be the girl who controlled dolls for her quirk, managing to take Yuzuki by surprise, as well as the one who was able to "pump" the ball away with her quirk.
A few, however, were unceremonious since their quirk clearly was not made for the work. While the guy with teleportation did all he could with his quirk, it was difficult to use in this type of situation. Even then, it was a promising quirk. All in all, student after student, Yuzuki remained reaffirmed of her objective. She needed to become the best that she could be, so that the honor of bearing her father's quirk wouldn't be squandered. The promise she had made in the past was reinforced by her newfound willpower. All of these students were powerful and they wouldn't be here if they weren't intelligent enough. This... This is what I always wanted. A worthwhile endeavor. A silent smirk formed on her face before she huffed and recomposed herself. Her focus should be on the laps now.
Her mind on her work now, she was only stopped when the teacher announced that the laps were a lie. As he did, an exquisite sensation passed over Yuzuki's thoughts. Although she was happy not to have run thirty laps and exhausted herself, she was also frustrated by the fact that a good challenge had just been a ruse the entire time to make students behave. Well, whatever the case, she would attempt this challenge again at home when given chance. A new record should be part of her now renovated motivation, allowing her to start her path in a clean slate.
The rest of the day was spent in tests of similar caliber. Yuzuki wished she had scored the best on them, but her unwillingness to fully reveal her quirk caused her to slack in some. After all, even if she wanted to be the best, she discerned information valuable enough to pass or not. Her quirk, in particular, was something she was not keen on fully revealing unless ultimately necessary. While in combat situations the choice was harder to make, on such tests she managed to maintain a high level without sacrificing away information.
Through the week, she made sure to employ this tactic against anyone who would approach her with questions about the subject, even to Matsuoka-san when she did ask. She had promised to talk to her later, and indeed she sought the girl to converse mainly of their shared love of books. Yuzuki was pleasantly surprised by the amount of knowledge the girl presented, and accepted suggestions on similar books for her to read later. However, to her surprise, she did not have many curious souls seeking her out. Only one attempted to approach her, and he seemed more than keen on speaking of the subject she wished to avoid so much... Azuha-san. Being social as she could, Yuzuki did appreciate his friendly demeanor, and was likewise, even if she avoided revealing much on her own quirk as much as she could. All the mysteries behind her quirk could be revealed with a simple online search, after all, given it's hereditary nature.
In the end, the week passed very quickly, and few moments of notice occurred after that. One such a moment was her grandpa's gifts near the end of the week. Seeing as Yuzuki did not have any costume and preferred to run without one, the old man ordered the making of a costume for the girl as well as an assortment of equipment, if she would have it. Indulging in the old man's generosity, Yuzuki gladly accepted them, being satisfied with her costume for once. The gift, however, was the most interesting. A set of special lenses. Her grandfather described them as cutting edge technology, the lenses were capable of interacting with the nanites to provide in-depth live information about her own status, including any structural damage to the body and adrenaline levels.
Eventually, the day came when Yuzuki would see something akin to the quirk assessment tests at last. Her grandfather had told her prior when he was asking about her costume that there would be a combat test. While he couldn't give her much information on the test itself, he gave her the date. After all, he wasn't just designing and making her costume for no reason.
That day was today. As Yuzuki dressed herself, she reminded and reinforced her own promise, her objective. To become the best, she had to win no matter what. A fierce scowl gave rise as she sighed. Today would be the first day she would get to finally compete directly with the other classmates and see what they were truly capable of. Thus far, she had seen some signs of potential, but in the end this was the first time she'd get to see their potential at work.
Yuzuki was excited, confident in her skill. While a challenge was always welcome and a chance to use her quirk in order to flatten someone was just too interesting to pass on, she set her mind on reaching to the top and winning no matter who she's up against. All this week of hiding her own quirk came down to the day where she itched to go all out. All she needed... Was a chance.
When she walked into Ground Beta, dressed in her costume, she quickly acknowledge the presence of four fellow students, curtly nodding in greeting.
<< Renji Mizukomaru >>
With everything that had gone on during the tests, everyone had their moment to do the best they could - or so we can hope, while the day dwindled down. Results were made and everyone got their reprieves, that being the showers were a welcome call for those that threw the ball earliest down the list. That day had passed and then soon came the span of a week. It went by rather ordinarily for Renji - aside the day immediately after the ball toss, where somewhere during homeroom he had used his ability to get a handle on the school's surroundings better - only to run into something he had wished not heard. The only thing his classmates would know was the moment he made a minor freakout and fell back on his chair, falling backwards with a nosebleed and a flushed face. Whatever it was, Renji refused to revisit it, perhaps it was among the other classes about.
Awkward flop aside, Renji kept to himself relatively when he could but had no issue talking with others when either he was approached, conversations he could relate with popped up, or checking in on people he was curious about. Of the latter, he'd have likely tried actively chatting with Momoko, Takegi, Yuzuki and Shouya. Plenty of the others may look to have been a fun chat, particularly Ayesha and Carlos perhaps. Despite considering himself as a reserved type perhaps, he wasn't against trying to talk to everyone in his class if he found it able. Over a week, perhaps he did. By the end of that week, however, their next big assignment was addressed. Not only that, those that had been given them, had been issued their hero suits. It looked to be a big day for sure, and as they all gathered up to Ground Beta, Renji's hero outfit might throw a few people off all things considered, if they even recognized him - It was practically a power suit hiding his initial identity.
Looking around, the mask hid a confident smile and a determined glint in his eyes as he saw the others come up one by one. A few of them even introduced militaristic-like in a way, which proved amusing but it wasn't wrong. Stepping over himself, his suit making noticeable clacks against the concrete, he made himself known, "Mizukomaru.. Ready and waiting-- Looking good everyone."
A week has passed since the test and Momoko took her teacher's words to heart. She indeed have so much to learn and needed to be aware of her surroundings that she diligently attended all her classes and trained her quirk after school.
It was hard. Every after school she had to travel near the beach and practice her screams. At first she was hesitant about it but after some time she just got used to it. She would practice every night up until her voice becomes hoarse and then travel back to her dorm to sleep for a few hours. All in all, the pinkette barely had any decent sleep. She would use makeup to hide the bags under her eyes and drink lots of energy drink to stay up. She sometimes attend with a croaky voice.
And today was no exception. Even though Momoko knew that today will be the Battle Trials, she still went to training last night. Thus, as usual, her voice was croaky and her eyebags were concealed with makeup.
Maybe training last night was a bad idea she thought to herself as she zipped up her blue bodysuit that was her hero uniform, wearing her headphones and mic choker next. I don't have that much energy even though I drank a couple energy drinks.. my voice is also in a bad condition. Ahhh! How stupid can I be?
Momoko knew that she would do badly at today's test if she didn't plan properly. I just need to use my voice only when necessary. B-Besides, I'm sure I can outsmart whoever my opponent is.. I also have pills with me for my sore throat so um..yeah.. be optimistic!
Trying her best to stay confident, the female then made her way towards her classmates and smiled upon seeing her friends. Over the past few days she was lucky enough to befriend some. She waved at Yuzuki and Renji before making her way towards them, instantly blushing at Renji's words. Although she knew it was directed at everyone, she still felt embarrassed. After all, she was wearing something skin tight! I knew I shouldn't have entrusted my hero outfit to my mom..
"Y-You look good as well Mizukomaru-kun. Oh and you too Yuzuku-chan." she complimented the two with a small yet croaky voice, her eyes wandering around the room. "Its nice to see everyone in their hero uni-, ack.." Quickly covering her mouth while she coughed, the pinkette realized that she was in no condition to talk. If this keeps up, I might really lose my voice today and fail. Ahhhh so stupid!
The female then looked at her friends and dropped her hand away from her mouth to smiled timidly towards them, waving her hands next in hopes that they'll understand what she's trying to say. I'm sorry! I can't talk anymore or else I'll fail! Please don't think I'm rude!
The upcoming week was... Boring. So incredibly dull. Absolutely gruelling. Math, science, Japanese AND English! And worst of all, history. It was awful it was boring and something that Ayesha was admittedly bad at due to her hyperactivity. A few times she had been hit in the head with an erasure during a lecture because she was talking to Canabella or whoever a little too much. Speaking of which...
Ayesha was more sociable than half the class appeared, but as she got to talking with them, she realized quite a few of them were outgoing and talkative people in spite of their appearance. Shouya, the electric smoke guy, was one of those people. Ayesha was always talking with someone or another. Ususally Canabella, or Shouya and occasionally Katsumi. He was a nice kid, but seemed a little dorky. Oh well. She always enjoyed dorkiness in people. Renji(who she had started calling Phones) was also a fun person to talk to. He was pretty cool. Kinda quiet but still cool. She didn't care too much about what other people thought about her. If she wanted to speak with them she did. That included Momoko, Takagi, and yes even Yuzuki. They didn't always give more than a head nod as Ayesha did the talking for the both of them. Occasionally they would hear her complain about classes, or ask someone for money because she left her wallet, always promising to pay them back. Whether or not she really would remained to be seen. But in the end it was clear to all that Ayesha saw most of them as people she would enjoy being friends with.
The day she was supposed to come dressed in her costume was more exciting than the first day of school... Maybe. But when she arrived her outfit seemed skimpy for the sake of being skimpy. In actuality it was basically just a track uniform from the US. Lightweight material in a short pants with a tank top. Of course she had some fun with the accents, adding gold accents to it here and there, and adding in some "coiled springs" into the design.
"Sup guys... Who's the super fighting teenage robot?
This was the first thing she said as she arrived as suddenly seeing a mech-suit was definitely not something she was expecting to see that day.
SHOUYA AZUHA
Most of the tests went well for him, though when they were running the laps ordered by their teacher, they were eventually told to stop. It was more or less a lie, nothing else. Despite that, Shouya felt that running around help him, and the others physically and mentally. So it wasn't all for naught. It was likely what Tada-sensei wanted. For them to run around until everyone had gone through the ball test.
Most if not the majority of the Quirks were interesting. Shouya was curious about them, about his classmates. They were told to leave for the locker rooms. To freshen up before their school day would continue. Their first day went by swiftly, and before he knw it, a week had passed.
They were a week in on their first year at the Academy. Shouya had spoken to most if not the entire class from time to time. He did not mind socializing, however, in the back of his mind, he wanted to know more about what his classmates could do. What he could do to improve. Like many others, Shouya had also worked on a hero outfit for himself for the upcoming trials at Ground Beta. It was a black suit with a thin white line moving from his neck on each side, down to his wrists. He would have a slightly thick, meter long mod that could look like a bracelet to others right above his wrists. They are black, wheras the borderlines are slightly grey.
They were to help him control how much lightning, or rather, electricity he would want to use. It would harness the lightning from his body, storing an abundant of it inside. He could release the bracelet, or break it in order to discharge it, however, the ability to use his Quirk through it would be gone, allowing it to hurt him the more he would use. It is basically a limiter that he can release, or use it without making his body go numb, or a limb.
Approaching the others who arrived before him, Shouya made his presence known. "Yo... Looks like almost everyone is here." He glanced at the others. He was excited about the trials. He was determined to do his best no matter what the trials would be about. Judging by the sight before him, this place was packed with buildings. It looked like a damn city, if anything.
A serious, yet thoughtful expression was plastered on his face, but he snapped out of it quickly, approaching Takagi. "So.. Any idea what the trials will be about?" Shouya was curious, and he wanted their teacher for the trials to come already.
Giving the mods around his wrists a look, he made sure they were intact and working. They were merely prototypes. He wanted to test them out, but his hero outfit wasn't exactly anything special. It was simple like a few others, but Mezame was wearing her pajamas.
Because of her Quirk, and her sleepy habit, it was fitting for her, but the one who stood out the most was the one inside a mech? That was one crazy outfit. 'That a.. Mini Gundam?' It reminded him about one of the many Gundam animes he had watched growing up.
Curiously, he kept on looking at it, and just had to ask Takagi who was inside. "Who is that?"
If it were Carlos, then he wouldn't know how to react.
Nishio Yoshihito
Ground Beta. A training course that emulated a urban area that held several buildings, streets and monitoring rooms for indoor exercises. Today Yoshi would be teaching Class A of the Hero Course on indoor training. They would be facing off in pairs against another pair, emulating a villain and hero situation with a bomb that must be secured within 10 minutes of starting.
Yoshi owed U.A. a great deal for helping him three months ago. He had his Hero License suspended because of his 'vigilante' type attitude when approaching his job, and has left one too many villains close to dead and bumped heads with the Police on many occasions. He saw that villains were below everyone, base animals that deserved to be put down when they stepped out of line. He was looking to face some time but it was U.A. and Principal Nezu who stepped in and convinced the Police in secrecy to let Yoshi off with a warning and to become a Teacher at U.A. so he could be monitored. His quirk was called 'Weapon Energizer' and it was quite simple when looked at. He is capable of taking any inanimate object and 'energize' it. The item in question, be it a twig, shard of glass, wooden sword, etc. Will begin to glow blue, from mild to bright. Energizing the item to mild will only become a taser like weapon, stinging and shocking while also leaving light burns at most. If he fully energizes the item and it glows a bright blue, it is capable of cutting through metal, bone and rock as if it was paper/butter to him.
Standing at the entrance of Ground Beta the Class came into view as several approached and introduced themselves or spoke amongst themselves. They were all dressed in the hero costumes they had designed and made, save for a select few. "Today you will all be paired off into groups of two for today's lesson. A combat exercise. One pair will be the heroes and the second pair will be the villains." Yoshi explained to the class as the final students entered.
"The villains will be protecting the bomb on an undisclosed, random floor. The heroes job is to track down the bomb and secure it, by at least grabbing it before the time limit is up. Ten minutes is the time limit and heroes must keep environmental destruction to a minimum." It was important that a hero doesn't cause unnecessary damage but sometimes they can't avoid it.
"Follow me." He said after explaining today's test to the class and leading them inside of Ground Beta. They entered a test building and headed into the basement were an array of monitors and machines were hooked and displayed. "Here the students that aren't up will watch. It is important to learn from others. They may think of a strategy that never crossed your mind, and just to learn from any mistake that may come from this." Yoshi pulled a piece of paper free from his pocket as he spoke. Unfurling the paper he straightened it out and listed out the names.
"First up will be Azuha Shouya and Mezame Nemuke. You two will be facing against Kamimasu Ryoku and Katsumi Himura. Ryoku and Himura will be the villains for this match." He read off the paper that he had scribbled on earlier.
"Following the first match will be Fuchizaki Suzu and Matsuda Yuzuki. You will be facing against Ayesha Nishinoya and Renji Mizukomaru. Suzu and Yuzuki will be the villains." That was the second match.
"The final match will be between Carlos Canabela and Maria Amanar. You will be facing Matsuoka Momoko and Takagi Sunemizuki. Takagi and Momoko will be the villains." The third and final match. This test will help develop the students in thinking, combat and even though it was nothing more than a scrimmage they could try and treat this as real as possible.
"No killing one another. Now first group prepare for the test." The students would be given communicators. Small earpieces so they could communicate with one another like it was a real villain situation. The villains would be told what floor and room the bomb is located in privately as well.
Takagi, Momoko and Maria
Listening to Instructor Yoshi going on about the current test, it seemed the rumors were indeed true. A team effort of Two Versus Two would be conducted, Heroes Vs Villains.
"Alright..I.."
Pausing to take in the names, she was more than a bit displeased, on the one hand she had hoped to be a badguy, her often immobile way of fighting would have been useful in holding a position, but it was who her teammate was that troubled her a bit...
The..Dog...
Cursing whatever god of Chance had done this setup she also didn't like having to fight Takagi, the girl was civil enough and made occasionally good company for Tea, but she also had no intention on losing. More importantly was his last order, on not killing.. While she had no plans to kill anyone, her weapons would need some modifications to be doubly sure that were the case.
While she took the time to look in on the other teams, their manor of fighting wasn't of the least use to her, sure some of the quirks could learn from one another, but could she? Either way she still needed extensive user of the workshop, while waiting on her partner for this faceoff.
"..Well then, I trust that Snout of yours is for more use than Looks? Do you have a Plan, Carlos? I may have suggestions, but tracking isn't exactly a skill set I have.."
As Momoko tried to explain herself to the two by using her hands, the teacher entered and immediately the pinkette stood up straight and listened. It seems they'll be working in pairs and upon hearing who she's paired up with as well as what their role are and who they're up against, she gulped.
She was partnered with Takagi Sunemizuki, someone she still haven't got the chance to interact with. She knew she shouldn't judge a book by its cover but for Momoko the black haired female seems scary.
Maybe this is a sign.. I mean partnering up with her will give me a chance to get to know her right? B-Besides.. The pinkette glanced at her partner I'm sure she's just misunderstood.. I think...
Momoko then looked at who they're up against and tried not to be intimidated. To be completely honest Canabela Carlos doesn't seem a threat to her but Maria Amanar was a whole different story. She looks like a doll but at the test.. she did very well. She can also control dolls so I'm certain she's a threat
At her state, Momoko knew she cannot face Maria on a battle. But Canabela-kun on the other hand won't be a problem to me.. right?
Ah, all this thinking will make my head explode! I wonder what Tagaki-san is planning right now
Patiently waiting with arms folded, Takagi watched as her peers arrived one by one. The next to come was the teleportation boy, Katsumi. His costume quite dapper, but fitting in a way for his quirk. Smirking beneath her mask, he seemed to react to her costume as she wanted. Well, she would've settled for him simply being startled, but trying to hide behind that hat of his was cute too.
"Katsumi-kun," She greeting in a tone that sounded somewhat mischievous. There was no ulterior motive, simply that she found his reactions amusing. Waving to him, the next to directly speak to her was Shouya.
"Ah, Shouya-kun." Takagi nodded her head to him, folding her arms once more. Unlike several others of the class, the boy in front of her treated her rather normally, to which she was thankful for. "Probably a few sparring matches I'd guess, either against each other or instructors. Possibly the robots, but that wouldn't be much for getting experience fighting opponents with hearts and minds."
To his following question about the mini-gundam, Takagi tilted her head somewhat. "That's..." Pondering for a moment, she had little time to respond as the teacher appeared and briefed them.
She knew of the educator, or rather had heard of him from Titan. Very brutal in the way he did things, to which Takagi didn't much mind, but unlike him she certainly didn't want to deal with all the trouble he did. He got the job done, but Titan told her he often crossed a few lines when he did.
Regardless, they would be fighting in duos; heroes versus villains in a race to defuse a bomb. In typical fashion, Takagi was put on the villain's team. Though it wasn't a shock and could've been completely random, she couldn't help but wonder if the choice was intended.
Glancing over to her partner, it seemed she would be working with the screamer. That voice of Momoko's was very powerful, but completely indiscriminate. She could muffle the sound somewhat by using her hair as makeshift earmuffs but it didn't nullify the sound completely. Furthermore, she'd be facing Carlos and Maria. Takagi wasn't quite sure what Carlos specialized in, aside from warring comically with the staff, but Maria's dolls were most definitely a threat, ones better for Takagi to take on.
Approaching the pink-haired girl, while somewhat withdrawn or passive usually, this was a case of grades and testament.
"Momoko-san... What do you surmise?" She inquired, glancing once more at the opposing duo. "My quirk is more combat-based, so I feel I should focus on Maria. I'm not quite sure what all of Carlos can do, but his animal-like features lead to something to do with senses likely... If I'm correct in that assumption, your quirk would be perfect in neutralizing him... If I'm right..."
Going right into the strategy, Takagi put forth her thoughts. "There's still a few fights ahead of us... We have time to talk tactics."
With her self proclaimed Doggy Detective making up a somewhat idiotic plan, Maria could not help but go along with it, after all he could sniff out the bomb, though his idea of scaling the walls and knocking out people with a baton was...something else.
Watching some of the fights with interest as she ducks out into a workshop time to time, making her dolls less lethal, Marisa would give these battles more thought later after her own. Either way Carlos would take the lead, while Maria's dolls would back him up, until they reached Takagi, who she would delay or defeat. In general Carlos had planned to avoid conflict, sneak attacking them all and dancing his way to the bomb with a tap
Though non-the-less skeptical of this plan, Maria was prepared to face them both in battle.
Elsewhere Maria's enemies had stuck to a plan of their own, Momoko would stick close to the bomb and provide overwatch from the open courtyard's side walls, and Takagi would look for and aim to defeat both in combat. With Carlos plan seeing some success the dog faced boy emerged from a nearby hall with his baton, cracking Takagi across the head and face as Maria moved her dolls in to finish the job.
When a blast of sound suddenly took the floor out from under her, sending both she and Takagi sprawling to the floor below to continue their own fight.
With deftness and not wasting the opportunity he was given Carlos tips his hat, spinning off on his legs, Momoko and the bomb were nearby and he would play a game of keep away, he would be the hero of the day, knocking out the evil sound blaster and defusing the bomb with his devilish dance moves.
After discussing the plan with her partner, Momoko was ready. It was fairly simple: she'll keep guard of the bomb while Tagaki will hunt down the heroes.
Everything was well until she heard noises and caught movement across the central courtyard, and Carlos showed up. Momoko couldn't help but panic. After all, she had no idea how to deal with him especially with her condition. Thus, she screamed. The scream was so loud, so deafening that the floor she aimed for shook and cracked, sending Maria and Takagi to the floor below, leaving Carlos free to run for the bomb.
Upon realizing her mistake, it was too late. Carlos was just mere inches away from the bomb with his hand outstretched. Momoko knew she shouldn't waste any time. The effect of the energy drink she drank earlier was starting to dwindle and her remaining voice was just enough for one more scream.
Thus, using the last of her screams and the new skill she learned from all her recent training, she focused it solely on Carlos and hoped for the best.
Only, instead of the best happening, the worst happened. Carlos sensed her attack and dodged it at the very last minute, causing for her attack to hit the bomb while she swept he scream catching him as well. In a matter of seconds the flooring collapsed below the two a considerable distance knocking the pair out from the concussive force.
Did the heroes win or did the villains lose? Momoko wasn't certain as everything faded to black and she slowly fell asleep from the impact and massive amounts of energy she spent in this attack.
Dollorama of Doom and the Bad Hair Day
"I..What?!"
Recoiling from the scream it seemed Maria had been spotted from the window seal and Carlos plan didn't seem to have went to plan, though underhanded she had expected more of it than what it had done. Which was to say, it had simply cracked Takagi's mask and knocked her on the ground briefly enough for her to get angry as her temporary partner made a hasty retreat. From what she could summarize this had to have been the work of Momoko, though she very much doubted the girl intended to take out the flimsy structure's flooring, sending the pair to the level below. If she had to guess this was some form of office complex, either way it was on to plan B, keeping Takagi busy.. "I..sympathize with your likely feelings, but I'm afraid I can't just let you leave. Please stay for the puppet show."
It wasn't personal, she couldn't and wouldn't just let the hair fighter win, she had a mission to do.. Though she would likely offer the girl a cup of tea when this was all over. Coughing a little as she rolled from the debris, the armored hero suit had served her well. With a jerk of her hands, Maria wastes no time in checking her connections, with her four dolls she could afford to move while keeping them under control, even if slowly.
The question was how to best deal with...this situation. Diving her dolls up, one with a shield and lance goes in for a ram, while a cleaver wielding one goes in for shallow horizontal cuts. This no killing rule was a troublesome thing, at least give her paint for the weapons to mark a killing blow.. Keeping the two other dolls in formation, Maria relies on her sensation of touch through the strings connection to continue her assault while she ducks into a side passage.
She would have to knock Takagi out, or cause enough shallow damage to make her willingly give up, so far she had a Hammer and a seemingly unarmed doll to call upon for this round at least.
Slowly pushing herself up, the actions of a certain dog boy didn't appear to have been very effective. Certainly, it was not the knockout that the Hero team had been hoping. All that baton to the head had managed to do was crack Takagi's literal, and metaphorical, mask.
Part of her facemask cracked and dropped to the floor, revealing the upper side of her face, near the temple of her head. Another crack showed upon her skin in the same area, almost like a chink in armor.
Takagi's quirk allowed her to manipulate the keratin in her body, granting her the ability to harden skin, nails and hair, or elongate or manipulate freely the latter. Though altering the strength of her skin took time, since the Villain team chose to take the fight to their aggressors, the young hero in training spent the time locating the enemy team hardening as well. However, you could either have maneuverability or protection, not both fully at the same time. She targeted something in the middle, leading to her being still conscious after Carlos' little sneak attack, yet now with a headache and aggravation.
"You... shouldn't have done that..." Takagi growled out as she stood to her feet. Though whether Canabela heard her or not remained to be seen, going by how fast he bolted.
Turning her gaze to Maria, she now stood in her way. Grumbling slightly, Sunemizuki understood, but the headache and concussion still brought a furrow to her her brow and a scowl to her face.
As the dolls charged, Takagi's hair seemed to move with a soul of its own, and it was angry. Coiling together, her hair forms a large wad and bats back against shield. Pushing back on her heels, Takagi narrowly dodged away from the cleaver. As the other side of her mop flew out and clung to the weapon, tugging it down and towards her person. Standing firm, she held her arm at a right angle with fingers pointed forward and her nails lengthened with a point, pivoting her hips and thrusting the appendage at the doll, aiming to impale its head.
Tugging on her wires, this was something of a disappointment, she had assumed the woman would have charged for her, either way this would also work.
Pulling her strings, Maria steps briefly into view, before ducking back in, sending in her other two dolls in, while the stabbed one did a response it was unlikely Takagi could have predicted..
Being made of wood and covered with ceramic skin, her hair penetrated, but rather than stopping it's movement, the little doll seemed to smile, skin cracking and breaking off as the hair exits the back of it's small head. Like driving a nail into a board, the doll didn't seem to mind or care, as it's little hand grasped her hair, keeping it's self there, or even trying to pull it's way closer to her.
Writing it's self the shield bearer aims for Takagi's chest, using it's Lance more of as a bar shield to pen her right arm in place, while the shield bashes into her chest, with a slight hesitation in it's movements, the doll almost seemed ready to ram her through at the center of mass. The attack did not stop there however as the Hammer Doll came in low and to the left, swinging it's heavy maul hammer at the girls legs, while the final unarmed one, seemed to smile gleefully, latching onto her body, or at least leaping forward to do such. The small dolls seemed intent on immobilizing Takagi, pinning her in place, then mauling her, either way the dolls, or rather the doll controlled was surprisingly brutal, though the curious glanced and finesse in control showed she wasn't out to purposely kill or seriously wound her "enemy" in this test.
As the doll continued to maneuver even defaced, Takagi's expression changed little. "Really? Pulling hair now?" She inquired. Seemingly her more playful attitude was returning, though she still appeared rather crossed. Perhaps she was simply trying to keep her anger in check.
The doll maker was trying to surround her, each doll going for a different part of her body in an attempt to cohesively pin her. Think she'd won already? How optimistic.
Instead of moving for a direct attack, Takagi took the brunt of the hit. Coughing as some of the wind was knocked from her lungs, the maul came for her legs as the smaller one attempted to latch onto her. The remainder of her hair that was not held in place stiffened and spiked into the ceiling, pulling her off the ground and out of the way of the hammer. Using her hold on the structure to give her an anchor, Takagi's hair held captive by the butcher yanked in the opposite direction, aiming to pull and throw the doll away behind her whilst simultaneously evading the grappler. Continuing the spin, she did not use her momentum to assault the two dolls, but launch her over them and towards their master.
Landing on the floor, Takagi charged in Maria's direction. The dolls behind her would mean nothing if their controller was unconscious.
Taking note of her poor dolls being tossed about, Maria was already at work moving herself deeper into the darkened side room. "Don't blame me if you yank out your roots." She says back in response. With a quick yank of her hand, the smaller armed doll quickly returns to it's master, exploding in front of the hair whip girl in a spectacle of light. The unarmed doll seemed to have been filled with some form of explosive, destroying it's self to cover for it's master. "...I thank you for your sacrifice.."
The attack wasn't likely to do much to Takagi however, even as the doll shattered and fragmented, sending pieces everywhere, the wires that would shine ever so slightly vanishing from view.
Deeper into the room the pale girl's doll like face and blue eyes still stuck out, though dimly, giving away where she was, for what good that did, there were still three more dolls hidden about as the smoke cleared, it was a trap, or was it? Either way the Doll Maker didn't seem to much care about the foe before her, smiling calmly from the darkness as time to time the faint wires could be seen glittering in the dust and thin sources of light.
Suddenly, light expanded across her sight. A flashbang hidden inside the doll? Is that what she was trying to do? Blow her up? It was a good thing Takagi didn't let the thing grab onto her when it had the chance to.
Shielding her eyes with a grimace, it did more to annoy her than anything else, the mock shrapnel mostly hitting off target, with a few striking into her hardened strands.
As the smoke cleared, Takagi could make out the gaze of sapphire shrouded in the dark. Maria could likely overwhelm small fry with a blind frontal assault, but not her. She knew this, so she was being tactical. Setting up traps and hiding tricks within her dolls.
"How long does it even take to make these? Come now, I don't wish to go and break them all," Takagi warned, placing a hand on her hip. "Although... I suppose if you're going to hide, there's no need to. I can just go take care of your partner."
It was a taunt, but one that was true. Takagi broke through the line of Maria's dolls and she was one down now. If all she would do is try to lure her into obviously conspicuous situations, there was nothing keeping Takagi following her. Her goal was to keep the keratin combatant here so that her partner would be safe. Difficult to do that when you're running and hiding.
Altering her plan, Takagi turned and began to strut back in the opposite direction, albeit slowly.
"It takes me a few hours or even a few days, I care very much for my little ones." The source of the Sapphire eyes replied back. At remark on the partner, a small chuckle escapes the darkness.
With an edge of cockiness to her voice the Doll girl chuckles. "And here I thought you were a brave sort rather than a Coward. I only need to reach the bomb, though I think we are on the wrong side."
With that heavy footsteps with a hint of elegance can be heard from within the room as Maria seemingly focus's her attention on breaking through a wall. "My Dolls are worth more to me than Carlos is, so go ahead and keep walking, I'll be seeing you soon.. Though I must thank you for the distraction, or did you forget I could link my dolls, or did you forget I had five?"
The figure asks tauntingly
"I care not for your titles of coward or courageous, good or bad. I have a job to do, and so it will be done," Takagi retorted matter-of-factly.
"We came to you, you would have to search for it. By then, who knows? Your ally may already be strung up with two opponents waiting to challenge you."
Continuing to strut off, the girl seemed uncaring. "How many dolls you have is beside the point. I'll just crack them open like toys."
]"See, we really should have swapped teams. And you forget my teammate can sniff out the bomb."
Stating in the same matter-of-factly tone, it wasn't like she was totally clueless on where the bomb was, though the plan didn't call for her to actually win it. "And is that so? I'm afraid these toys aren't cheap plastic Junk of this wasteful Era, let me show you some Old World Quality."
With a chuckle, Maria suddenly emerges from the wall with plaster and thin wall separating them, with a smile to her face, the fact she was armed with a large sword and shield was fairly odd, though considering the melee equipment of the smaller ones, perhaps not too out of place. Either way, even if the weapon did not seem sharp, she was carrying out a brutal assault, swinging downwards with the broadsword.
"Which is why dealing with him would be best, no? He seems more combat-trained than my companion, although in terms of destructive power he's obviously outclassed." Then again, destructive power in this kind of situation wasn't automatically the best option. On top of that, Momoko's voice was damaged, reducing Takagi's faith that she could easily deal with the prankster.
Suddenly, the seamstress appeared through a wall in front of her, armed and smiling creepily. Or was it her? No—another puppet.
Not enough time for a full dodge backwards, nor was blocking it the best idea. Sliding barely enough graze the tip of her nose against the side of its blade, Takagi's hair moved to wrap around its limb as it swung down. It did not attempt to stop the swing, but rather pull it forward closer to her as she attempted to dig her nails, or claws as they more resembled now, into the warrior of ceramic and attempting to pull outward. Poking a few holes did nothing, but tearing it in two would have some effect.
As Takagi grappled with the sword and shield puppet, another appeared in the darkness with a sudden flash of blue light, baring a halberd in it's arms, rushing in from the rear, the two dolls seemed to be some sort of Video game bosses. Work together, the swordsmen pulled on the hair, even as bit's of it's skin flaked and cracked, and the halberd came in from the rear, swinging in a mighty cleave.
"I told you my craftsmanship was better than you give it credit for... Now please fall." Stepping slowly with focus, it seemed Maria wanted to personally supervise the work of her dolls, with an eerily lifeless expression that matched her two soldiers, it was debatable if she had just swapped places with one of them.
Part of the dolls chest cracked, but otherwise it refused to split. Grunting as she yanked and pulled, but it did not give way. Furthermore, another doll came to strike her from the back, landing a forceful cleave into Takagi's side, smacking her into the wall.
A gash appeared on the side of her clothing, showing bare abdomen and cracked skin that resembled the doll's. Growling in a mixture of pain and aggression, her counter was stopped short as the building shook unnaturally.
"What...?!"
"...If this were different, or you knew this would be two or three on one, this outcome would be dif-" Walking her dolls over, they didn't seem nearly as fast as the large ones, with some cracks in it the sword and shield doll had a gapping hole inside of it, but otherwise seemed functional, being held together by the will of Maria.
Frowning a bit she rather doubt Takagi was beaten so easily, showing as much in a counter attack, Maria instinctively backed her dolls off to cover herself and one another, preparing to receive the assault, when the same shaking disturbed her as well.
As if a whole corner of the building was falling in, this was not the time to continue this battle. "...Let's move." Upon reaching the source of the shaking, it seemed Momoko had blasted Carlos, the building and her own bomb.. Dismissing her swordsman, Maria instructs the Polearm doll to grab Momoko, leaving Carlos to Takagi. While her team now had technically won, it wasn't much of a victory.
"If you would like, I think the three of us should have some tea, perhaps I can sew some clothing for you.. This was but a test after all."
It seemed the two had come to a consensus. The building was coming down, whether they continued to fight or not, but they both had allies as well. Dashing along with Maria, the two came to the bomb's point, as well as the cause of the destabilization of the building.
Momoko had attempted to incapacitate Carlos with her voice, unfortunately eliminating the building with him.
As it cracked and crumbled, the bomb was no more anyway. They had lost, ironically via a self-destruct. Seeing Maria send out her toys to go retrieve Momoko, Takagi's hair jointed out, planting several strands on each side of her body into the ground. Mimicking stilts, or legs, the appendages moved similarly to a spider, before lowering slightly and pushing forward, shooting Takagi at her target. Grabbing and pulling him from danger, the hair momentarily formed a protective cacoon before dividing out to form the "spider legs" from before with Takagi herself lugging the body around.
"...H-Heavy..." While her hair had formerly dragged him to his seat with ease, it seemed to possess more brute power than her own body's physique.
Scoffing at Maria's suggestion, Takagi seemed somewhat dissatisfied with how things had turned out. "How did I end up playing the part of the hero...?"
First Fight
Collab between Akashi, Fol-ly-cle and myself
The first match was underway as the bomb objective had been covertly placed on the top floor of the designated building. Still standing in the room at the start on the villian team were Katsumi and Ryoku; one of them clearly more calm than the other as Katsumi appeared to be fidgeting around and muttering to himself, clearly stressed out. Not only would this have been far easier if he was on the hero team but his fear was realized as he was going against the second top student, Shouya.
It didn't take long for Ryoku to become annoyed at Katsumi's behavior and made no attempts to hide it. He hated those who were all talk saying they wanted to claim the title of number one hero but this Katsumi appeared to be nearly the exact opposite. He was timid, scared even. He definitetly didn't look like a hero in his current state. "I'm gonna go head them off and stall for time. If they do make it here...do try to get ahold of yourself."
Katsumi stuttered a bit trying to get some words out as Ryoku took off down the hall; only being able to spit out. "G---Good luck!" Within no time the teleporter was left alone with the objective as he used his time to try and calm himself down and think of some strategies.
----------
This was it. Their first real trial as heroes-in-training. First order of business for the hero team, consisting of Azuha, Shouya and Nemuke, Mezame, was to activate the latter's quirk on the pair. While it didn't offer much in the way of direct combat use, every bit of attentiveness and reflex helped. From what they could gather logically, the bomb would be on the top floor. Kamimasu, Ryoku and Himura, Katsumi... The first was capable of forming an arm that held the properties of whatever they were chewing, the second capable of teleportation.
Mezame groaned at the thought. Arm Boy was all well and good on his own, but thinking about getting so close to the target, just to have it teleport away. As excited as she was about it all, it didn't have to be this much trouble. Competing was fun, but losing was not.
Amber eyes tossed a glance towards Azuha. She hadn't talked much to anyone in class, much less him, but he was one of the top students. Hopefully that distinguishment meant things would go a little smoother for the pair. Mezame wanted to speak up about coming up with some sort of plan, but her attempts would be awkward murmurs at best, and incomprehensible mumbling at worst.
Instead of trying to engage in conversation, she simply surveyed their surroundings. The building's interior was as plain as could be expected, though she had to give them credit for actually filling it with a fair deal of furnishings. Not that much would be left by the time a group or two was done here. After a deal of walking, they approached the first set of stairs. Here, the duo would stop.
"So...uh...any ideas?" the girl choked out.
---------
Once the teacher had informed them about the combat trial they were to undergo, where they could demonstrate their quirks and teamwork in order to accomplish their goal, he got himself ready. Shouya was teamed up with Mezame, Nemuke, the sleepyhead. He wasn't all too worried about her, though he knew very little about her quirk. Once the earpieces were in, and they both had made the neccessary preparations, they made their way towards the building.
They were the heroes in the upcoming combat trial. They were going up against Himura, Katsumi and Kamimasu, Ryoku. The latter could become an issue for one of his quirks. Shouya was in deep thought, though he was quickly brought back to reality when Mezame asked him a good question.
"Yeah.. I actually do." Something else also bothered him. Katsumi and his quirk. Now he could be quite annoying in this situation. Their objective was to get to the bomb before the time limit, and going through each floor would eventually lead to it, but if their opponent could teleport it around, it would make it quite difficult for them.
For now, he would have to use his second quirk in order to make the building his territory. Turning to his side, his scarlet eyes landed on Mezame. "I'll start by covering the building with smoke. It'll become dark, but you should stay right behind me. Otherwise, if we do separate, we can communicate through our earpieces."
A second passed, before Shouya continued. "I can sense everything that my smoke would pass through. May it be an object or a person. But yeah, what else other than forcing others to sleep can you do with your quirk? It's important if it can become useful." Shouya considered many things in his mind. If she could make one of their opponents go to sleep, then it would greatly increase their advantage.
"Lets go." Black smoke began to cover his right arm, before it was released, covering the hallway behind and before them. They had a time limit, so they had to make haste for their objective as well.
--------
As the time clicked down Katsumi paced back and forth in front of the bomb hatching ideas here and there before he came to a stop before the bomb and tested something out. He wondered how much it weighed and quickly got his answer as he was able to teleport the large bomb about a foot to one side. A huge smile becoming plastered on his face as ideas flooded his brain. "Yes! There is a chance! There is totally a chance. Um...um...what can I do with this um...this and that and oh yeah that." He continued to mutter his ideas to himself within the bare bones room.
Ryoku on the other hand continued to partrol the top floor. He'd make sure to pay extra attention to the stair cases as that was where they would have to come up most likely. This activity for lack of a better term wasn't going to be easy since the opposite team were both going to be an instant threat if touched...though Ryoku had a hunch his quirk would come in more handy than most would expect. He had his rubber toy and other assorted gums and snacks ready within his pockets, prepared for the encounter to come.
----------
Once Shouya was given a good enough explanation about what Mezame's quirk could do, a short grin was plastered on his face. Her quirk could be used for over the top effort if it required. Not only could she put people to sleep, she could also give them an adrenaline kick. "Interesting.. At any rate, you should go after Ryoku when you see him."
They continued to walk towards the top floor. Turning a corner in the hallways and so on. Keeping their eyes fixated on what was ahead of them. To be focused on anything surprising. So far they had not seen Katsumi or Ryoku. 'Are they staying by the bomb?' A thought crossed his mind.
They couldn't stop, but continue. While the building was being painted in black, Shouya and Mezame eventually made it to the top floor. The first one they noticed, was Ryoku on the other end of the hallway. The room in the center, that would likely be where the bomb is. The floors below them were already covered in darkness, so even Mezame couldn't go back down there without Shouya guiding him.
Ryoku was coming for them, but he was alone. Using his hand from a distance, he sent lighting coursing through the floor before him. Though as it made its way towards their opponent. "I'll keep Ryoku there.. Katsumi is probably somewhere here as well."
"I'll let you handle chewing gum!" Shouya moved back, allowing Mezame to go after him. If her quirk was touch based, all she had to do was to get touch Ryoku. Shouya quickly used his second quirk, black smoke to cover the hallway, while approaching the entrance.
"It should be here.. The bomb" Whispering to himself, he finally made it there, noticing the bomb and Katsumi. Without hesitation, he used his hand to increase the speed of his black smoke to cover the area.
"That does not belong to you." Smirking, he was ready for what was to come.
--------
Katsumi could hear scuffles down the hall, he nearly jumped out of his skin despite his prepared thoughts once Shouya came into view. The boy waved his hands frantically and smoke equally as quick. "Wait wait wait wait wait we can talk about this right Shouya-san!?" The quickly approaching smoke and taunt gave Katsumi his answer as he let out a frightened shriek. If that smoke covered the room he was gonna be shit out of luck so he was forced to pull out one of his trump cards really early.
Just before the smoke engulfed the room Katsumi placed a hand upon the bomb and teleported himself as well as it to the very top of the room and let gravity do the rest as the bomb which weighed as much as a fridge plummeted to the floor and smashed through it sending it down a floor and repeating the process a few more times before the force finally depleted enough from the multiple impacts, stopping around midway down the building. Katsumi followed the bomb down though it was difficult as the sudden new air pocket allowed the smoke from the lower floors to rise in a new area.
Katsumi barely had enough time to teleport himself the last few feet in order to halt his momentum. He dropped to one knee and breathed heavily from the near fatal injury experience having not expected so much smoke to be within the building. "That...that was sooooooo scary!" It was then that the smoke started to really affect Katsumi's lungs forcing him to cough from the lack of proper oxygen. "Oh no!" He coughed over and over violently while covering his mouth with his hand.
----------
"Well, if you step away from that bomb we wont have to do anything." Despite their silly negotiations that weren't going to get the result he wished for, he was rather surprised by what Katsumi did next. His scarlet eyes widened slightly, watching Katsumi teleport himself and the bomb by the ceiling of the top floor, before dropping the bomb. "Dammit!"
Shouya knew that Katsumi was going to be a problem because of this. The damn building shook at its core when he repeated the process. Trying to keep his balance, he could see his own smoke coming through the hole created by Katsumi.
"Tch!" Getting in touch with Mezame through his earpiece, he relayed some information.
"Looks like Katsumi has teleported the bomb down a few floors down.. But not without creating a mess.. I'll be going after him... The bomb." Shouya knew that his priority was the bomb, and not the villain, but the latter was in the way.
The hole however, made it easier for him to get down. Instead of taking the stairs he approached the hole, looking down. He could feel Katsumi's presence, but also to that of the bomb. Shouya's eyes squinted ever so slightly. "Hmm.. I need to get down there.."
"Think.. Think.. Shouya!" Whispering to himself, there was a way to get down there, but it may be dangerous.
'All you have to do is.. Get down there..' He pointed the fingertips of his left hand towards the hole, and more smoke began to come out, covering the area more. As much as it was moving towards the ceiling, it was also going back down.
Lightning sparked through both his hands, and his feets. He was focused. "Its all or nothing!" Shouya jumped through the hole, going straight for the bomb. Using lightning through his hands and feets to balance himself through the air. To make sure the gravity wouldn't do him in.
However, on his way down, he crashed into a few debris hanging off of the floors, but eventually made it down there with a few cuts and bruises. Breathing heavily, he spoke up. "Sometimes, a hero gotta take a risk!"
Tilting his head towards Katsumi, he smirked. Moving his left arm 90 degrees up, keeping his hand opened up. Lightning sparked through his hand before it traveled through the smoke, towards Katsumi at quite the speed. Simultaneously, he dashed towards the bomb.
----------
Katsumi had a quick moment to crudely create a cloth bandana after ripped away a piece of his sleeve, tying it around his nose and mouth. It didn't help his sight situation but at least he was continuously choking anymore. He got on his ear piece..."Ryoku-san, Ryoku-san!!" He coughed two more times, his voice was shaken and worried, made even more so as he received no response. He felt along in this dark, choking building.
He could more so hear than see that Shouya had landed upon the same floor as he spoke up. Katsumi felt a chill run up his spine and his eyes buldge a bit in surprise. "How, how did you get down here so quick!?" Before he knew it all Katsumi could see closing in on him from a distance was many bright sparks of lightning traveling along the smoke. Before he could say anything more the lightning struck him. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Katsumi screamed out in a high pitched tone as he felt the electricity course through his body, the pain dropping him immediately with a thud onto the floor. The left over jolts continuing to make Katsumi have sudden jolts of painful movement. His eyes weren't just watering up from the smoke anymore at this point.
Down on the floor the smoke was less dense as he could see Shouya dashing for the bomb just behind Katsumi. The blonde's body wanted nothing more than to submit and just lay there, let it all end; just give up. But that's not what real heroes do...his father would never give up on a patient; holding another person's life in his hands he wasn't allowed to simple put up his hands and give up. Just as Shouya was about to run by, Katsumi reached out with his left hand, being able to see his feet and grabbed at his ankle. A low sublte voice would come up from beneath the layers of smoke, barely audible. "Sho...san...can't...won't..." It hurt like hell but Katsumi wasn't gonna just roll over...not anymore.
---------
It all looked like sunshine and rainbows, but that is always how it went when someone was facing a villain. One could never be too prepared. A hand had grasped his ankle, making him trip and fall. Barely hearing Katsumi speak, the will behind his voice was adamant. He wasn't going to give up this easily, but Shouya was the same. "Ugh! Katsumi!" Responding, he moved his hand down, touching his hand around Shouya's ankle.
Teleportation! Why did he not use it? Katsumi was just holding him there.
Lightning coursed through his hand, before he electrified Katsumi once again "I'm sorry about this.." Even if Katsumi and Ryoku had been given the role of villains, he couldn't help but know in the back of his mind that they were his classmates. But then again, he couldn't hesitate, not when he was this close.
Not only that, but he could literally hear his sister speaking in the background. Annoying, to have been reminded about her. Shouya had to prove himself, and to become better than her. This was such a hassle.
The grip around his ankle loosened in the process, giving him the edge to reach out for the damn bomb with his vacant hand. He was close!
---------
Katsumi screamed out even louder the second time around as the next dose of shock therapy ran through him. He hated this, all of it. He was fighting the one person who he'd thought he'd have a chance at being friends with out of everyone in the hero course. His grip did indeed loosen but the act served its purpose, he slowed Shouya-san down. Katsumi's right hand had slid into his back pocket so he was touching the one piece of equipment he carried with him that was directly having to do with his outfit. He activated his quirk upon the ability as he could see below the smoke being face level with the floor as a pair of metal handcuffs teleported to Shouya's position.
One end of the handcuffs secured itself perfectly around the white haired classmates left ankle while the other half was partially teleported into the floor effectively fusing the item to the ground and anchoring Shouya to that spot effectively mere inches from the bomb. Katsumi took a second to let himself recover from the multiple shockes before teleporting himself to one of the legs of the bomb, grabbing onto and teleporting once more straight down the hallway all while still laying on the floor, finding it very difficult to even try to stand. He was at the corner but needed a breather. He could teleport more but the pain in his brain was making it difficult. He mustured the courage to turn his head to look back at Shouya, more so listening than seeing as to what he would do next.
-------
"Handcuffs?" Katsumi was making it very hard for Shouya to reach the bomb. Maybe he should've amplified the electricity, literally burning his opponent unconscious. He was stuck, or rather, thanks to the other end of the handcuff, he couldn't move. "KATSUMI!!" He exclaimed.
Shouya had to think on the spot now, and looked around. The bomb was not there either. It was at the corner of the hallway, in the same floor. He was thankful for covering the building with black smoke, giving him the opportunity to sense where Katsumi and the bomb would be. Using his free hand, he moved it around the smoke. The smoke before him began to twist. This was the only way for him to reach Katsumi.
It twisted, and turned into a black, dense, hardened fang. Shouya was intensely focused. Sweating as well, he waved his clenched fist down towards the floor right next to the handcuff. Piercing through the floor, he was no longer anchored. However, his black fang was not done.
Using his ability to sense Katsumi and the bomb next to him, the black fang traveled through the floor beneath them. All this time, Shouya used his fist to manipulate it. It moved like a snake. Thats when it pierced through the floor beneath Katsumi's feets, right between him and the bomb. At this moment, he could have used the fang against Katsumi, separating him from the objective.
That is precisely what he deemed was the best course of action. Shouya manipulated the fang towards Katsumi with increased force. In the meantime, Shouya was exhausted. Using both his Quirks simultaneously for a long duration would put a toll on him. How long could he go on for. His iron will wouldn't let him lose this one. He began making his way towards the bomb, running.
-----------
To Katsumi's horror he watched as Shouya freed himself from being anchored by solidifying smoke and utilizing. He knew Shouya was hardly touched while he himself was a complete mess. His heart pounded as he knew nothing good was to come of continuing this. Just as he opened his lips his words were caught in his throat as the manipulated smoke fang bursted through the floor and pierced Katsumi right in his shoulder since that's the closest part of him that was to the bomb since he was still laying prone.
He could see and feel the blood from the wound leak out of him but his screaming expression yielded no sound. He couldn't go anymore, his body wasn't going to let him continue going through this torture. His body was twitching painfully, his body was now pierced and bleeding on top of everything else. His eyes were filled with tears and he continued to cough and choke. His voice was low and filled with pain, fear and sorrow. "Shouya-san!!! I give up! I give up! Please! You're better! Please stop!" The crying practically pleading voice was all Katsumi could do in hopes of ending all of this, burying his face into the cold floor.
-------
Injured and bruised. Exhaused, Shouya was barely making his way towards the bomb. He stopped running, and instead, used the wall as support. There was a hole in the floor, separating him from Katsumi. The bomb was on his side. Standing there, holding one of his arms, he listened to Katsumi.
Concentrated on him, he could see the blood on the floor. The smoke in the area was almost if not gone at this point. "So--" Thats when he felt it. He fell down on the floor. Shouya could not move. He could drag himself with his arms, but his legs had given up. Did he use too much of his quirks? 'Have I reached my limit?!' Confused, annoyed, he looked at the bomb.
'Its right there.. Move!.. Move!.. Move Shouya!!'
Shouya couldn't help but compliment Katsumi for using his wits and quirk to exhaust Shouya like this. Even so, he too, needed to better control his quirks. Only a few seconds later, footsteps could be heard behind him.
Turning his head to the side, he looked behind him. It was not Ryoku, it was Mezame. She was bruised up, but with that, she had a grin plastered on her face. It looked like she managed to take care of Katsumi's partner. Nonchalantly, she walked up to the bomb and touched it, making them victorious.
Despite all his efforts, it wasn't Shouya who granted them the win, it was Mezame. According to her confident attitude, she explained to the both of them how she managed to punch and send Ryoku senselessly flying into the wall. Thanks to her quirk, he was unconscious, but also knocked the hell out. Maybe the Academy wasn't for him.
Also, Mezame took it upon herself to explain how she took her time to get down to them because of the smoke. With that, Shouya and Mezame came out victorious.
Round 2!
Ayesha was excited. So excited she was hopping up and down in place, hoping to warm up and release some of that tension. Her partner, the Super Fighting Teenage Robot, was next to her, almost towering over her. The heels helped a lot, but his costume added just as much height as her heels. They were placed right in front of the building, it's darkened threshold agape for all to see. The countdown to begin would start soon. She took this time to address her partner. After all after seeing what it looked like inside she knew she was at a serious disadvantage.
"Okay Phones, I need you with me here. If you haven't noticed I'm kinda screwed. Inside means tight corners and little area to move. Against Demon Boy and the Road-runner, I'm practically useless without the vertical. So whatever happens, do NOT let me leave your side. I repeat, do. NOT. Let me leave your side."
Here, the mechsuit-wearing partner looked over to her, he gave it some thought before Renji asked, "Sure but, are you certain your Quirk limits you only on the vertical?... Before we begin we should explain to each other what we can do if we cooperate as intended."
"Well… I can throw stuff and send people flying, but against a hulk-out quirk that can really only move them so far. And Yuzuki is just too quick. On a straight away, I might be able to keep up with her, but indoors, there are too many corners and doors. I can't change directions as easily." She took a step forward and looked back at him filled with conviction. "Which is where you come in. You can use that thing you did on the ball the other week to help me throw in some mix-ups."
"Alright… what makes it hard for you to change your momentum? Depending on that answer I might be able to give a temporary hand. You've seen my quirk a few times but to sum it up, I can toy with vibrations in many ways. Heck, I plan to find them the minute we begin with a small trick. Your ears might feel funny for a moment though. So might theirs."
Ayesha took a moment and tried to think of the best way to explain to him how his quirk worked. She wouldn't have been surprised if many of her classmates thought she had a strength quirk. It wasn't that simple. "So Phones, you make noise. I like it. Me on the other hand, I'm not super strength or super speed. My quirk is called Coiled-Spring. I'm able to release lots of energy after a build-up of tension. If you remember the grip strength test…" Ayesha was referring to how during the test, she actually only had a grip strength of an average person, but thanks to how tense she was, the thing actually went flying out of her hand and onto the roof of the school. "Anyway, my quirk is that sudden release of energy. It is violent and quick. But it only works in bursts. I can change direction only once I hit the ground. But if you can change my direction mid-air, then we could have something."
"Only the ground? What about walls and ceilings? Maybe I can affect something that lets you interact with that stored energy quicker, my vibrations gradually amplify and build up if I let them too. Granted, it could be risky for me to try and do similar to you. Mid-air sounds like a stretch but… hrm.."
"Flat-surfaces, yeah whatever, the point is I'm gonna have a hard time since I don't have complete freedom of movement. It's like throwing a bouncy ball in a small room. Thing bounces forever."
It was then they received the signal to enter into the building. Ten minutes, No time to continue discussing the topic much longer.
"Looks like we got to cut the huddle short. Game's about to start.
"You're right.. Once we enter I have two things in mind to start us off. You won't mind me grabbing your shoulder for a sec, do you? Solid enough place I can… Reasonably affect."
Ayesha looked at him, tilting her head in confusion.
Meanwhile, inside the building a pair of pseudo-villains remained guarding the far too big and unnecessarily fake bomb. The fact that it looked more akin to an alien rocket aiming upwards out of the building served to reinforce the feeling that it was nothing but a horrible attempt at poking comedy to the test.
Paired with Fuchizaki, Yuzuki stood rested upon one of the pillars of the room. Aside from the bomb, several other boxes remained in the room apparently for fluff. However, their weight was still considerable. The objective seemed to be limiting movement while inside the room with the bomb, as well as give those who'd fight inside of here things to use during a battle. Yuzuki did not appreciate either. Thinking on the students she'd be facing up against with Suzu, she wondered just how much of a challenge they'd be. "Seems like we have an interesting match ahead of us. What do you think of our foes? Anything comes to mind as to how to deal with them?" For once Yuzuki's voice was loud enough that it could be easily heard behind the mask. To a extent, she was excited. However, her callousness got the better of her, as she was far more worried about obtaining victory than she was about the methods.
As she questioned Suzu, her eyes moved towards him, fierce with confidence. It was hard to tell if it was born from bravata or skill, but she didn't seem any fazed about the match. If anything, she was more than ready for a challenge.
Lost in thought was Yuzuki's partner who was staring at a wall, not even the doorway while the pair of villains waited for the match to start. He had been thinking back on the previous week and what he had observed from Ayesha and Renji but in honesty he couldn't explain their quirks or what they were even capable of. "Huh?" Suzu turned to look back at Yuzuki who grabbed his attention. What did he think of the pair that they were to face? That was a difficult question to answer. "They might be a challenge. Or total pushovers. I know that...the girl." He ended up forgetting her name once more and obviously didn't know Renji's. "She seems to work in bursts. While headphones works with sound… I want to say? It doesn't matter anyways because I will beat them." Splitting the two up would be the best option for Suzu and his partner. The two were confident in their own abilities and didn't want to rely on others for a win. At least that is how Suzu perceived his partner to be like. "What if we split them up? Do you think they are strong fighters?"
Yuzuki's eyes darted from him to the doorway and a smirk grew from below the mask once more. "You're confident… That's a good start. Renji-san's quirk might become an issue. I need to see what he's capable of. Fighting inside this room would clearly be a disadvantage, however. We don't want to destroy the building and give them a chance to get to the bomb. Cut access to the room if you can and let's seek them out instead. We can lay a well-timed trap to test how coordinated they are… And from there we decide if they're worth separating or not." Her expression stiffened. She wondered just how much expertise each of the two had with their quirks. Levels of experience could make someone be leagues apart from one another, and from what it looked like, Renji was a key player in this fight.
"If something drastic happens, I'll take Renji-san head on while you make sure Nishinoya-san doesn't reach the bomb. If the worst comes to happen… You knock Renji out after it." Yuzuki finally said her plan as she proceeded to walk out of the room. Waving her hand for him to follow, she stopped shortly after exiting the room.
"Close off the entrance? That sounds like a solid idea." Suzu's arms were already beginning to transform as she continued on about getting a feel for the pair of heroes. It was the beginnings of a plan but it wasn't quite a real plan. They were headed in the right direction. They were just going to be doing most of the fighting on the fly with no clear ideas on what they were up against.
The red haired demon boy approached one of the six pillars inside of the room that held the bomb and wrapped his now transformed arms around it and began to pull. In mere moments he ripped it out and hoped that the ceiling would not collapse on him. "Damn this is heavier than I thought." Suzu mentioned though his voice didn't sound strained as if he was actually struggling with the pillar. It was his only option on blocking the entrance to the room. Another option would be to just collapse the ceiling above the doorway and most of the room but that was dangerous and might not even work. Walking backwards with the pillar, head turned to see where he was walking he came to the doorway and dropped the pillar in front of it as he was stepping out. "Uh. I think one of them could still crawl through the space." The pillar laying on its side wasn't as tall as the doorway but it was close. "What kind of trap are we setting anyways?" Masked depression had made some comment about a well-timed trap but what could they do? His quirk wasn't useful in making traps, unless a surprise attack counted as a trap then that he could do. Sucker punch Renji and knock him out before he has a chance to react. The confident demon child didn't even think about how experienced or trained the opposition would be. No worries fluttered through his mind. Only on thoughts of winning the match.
The white-haired girl was impressed by the force Suzu managed to exert. It was something that even she likely couldn't reproduce unless she was at max speed. Her cold expression was still the same and was just any different as per a squint of her eyes. Eventually closing them, she signaled for him to follow her, speaking all the while. "Bait and strike. I can attempt to buy you time by making them believe I'm alone. Meanwhile, you can find a good moment to get into the fight and land a destructive blow. If they're too coordinated… Separate them. We'll have a higher chance of delaying them with direct battles rather than facing the two of them together."
As she finished her description she raised her hand with a finger. "Regardless of the situation… You'll be able to tell. If I tell you to come in instead of waiting for your opportunity, you crush the ground and go after the girl. Leave me with Renji… He's a worthwhile enemy for me." With those words, she stopped and nodded her head to him. "Stay close behind, but not too close. I'll take on ahead now." With those last words, she strode forward. If there was anything she wanted here… It was to win, and she would do whatever necessary to reach it.
"So you're absolutely positive that this is the right way?"
Ayesha had been following alone with what yet partner said. They only had 10 minutes to locate and grab the bomb, and Ayesha's plan would have been the tried and true method of running all over the place kicking down doors until they found the right one. Renji seemed to have a better idea fortunately.
They hadn't gotten in far just yet, but it was enough into the first floor that Renji had gestured for them to stop before offering a hidden grin and a thumbs up, "If they think they're the only ones that'll know the layout of this place, they'll be mistaken. Remember when I mentioned an odd feeling in your ears? Yeah, that's coming up now.. So, I apologize for the feeling." After that, only actions followed as he looked around and spotted a metal panel by the wall. Walking over to it, he knelt down on one leg and lowered himself on the floor, one hand flat onto the surface. Raising the other, he faced the back of his hand towards the panel, in a knocking kind of gesture.
"Normally I could do it more simply, but the noise would surely give it away.. This way, we might be able to catch them off guard. I don't know if Suzu would have keen enough senses to feel it, but Yuzuki just might… Time will tell." Renji took a breath, giving himself a little focus before rapping his knuckle once against the panel, "Echolocation.. I feel that would be a fair name for it.. Now.. Where are you guys…" As he hit the panel, his arm had vibrated for a few moments before and his body looked to relax in focus. Behind his helmet, his eyes were shut as he 'listened' closely to how everything reverberated. It was gentle, but the place was gradually being mapped out to him like a sonar. To Ayesha, she'd feel an uncomfortable shiver in her ears, but it was a very low frequency noise.
Whether Yuzuki did notice it was something Renji would not know, but eventually an all too subtle rustle in the building would swathe over where the villain team was and even eventually the room to where the bomb was. Now, determining that room was the actual room would still be difficult for him to discern, more-so that a pillar was in front of a doorway but feeling two moving signatures from echoing vibrations would tell him that's where the 'enemy' was.
As the villains were now at least two floors away from the bomb, Yuzuki silently walked. Being a good distance away from Suzu now, she wondered just how well the trap would fare. Renji's quirk might be… Problematic. Given it's versatile nature, he might be able to do anything at all with it. While Ayesha's quirk can be considered direct and simplistic, his can do anything within a range of vibrations. I wonder… Just how much control and power he can draw from it. Concentration filled her mind for a moment and she was lost in thought, only her walking feet producing any discernible sound to draw her out of her own brainstorming mind.
As Yuzuki thought about their approach, something drew her attention. She had felt one of her ears going under pressure. If it weren't for the sound of her own steps, she wouldn't have noticed. That was not all, the sensation was abnormal. A cold shiver went down her spine, causing her to squint her eyes off into the distance. Immediately stopping, she thought about what she had just concluded. Could it have something to do with Renji and Ayeesha? What are they doing…?
Immediately turning around, Yuzuki said out loud: "Change of plans, Fuchizaki-san." She lifted her hand, signaling for him to come closer. "Let's rush them. I have a bad feeling about Renji's quirk… This means… Immediately separate them as soon as we see them. I'll accelerate the flooring's atoms, that'll let you smash one of them into the lower floor. After that, draw them away from the area… I'll make sure whoever is left can't follow." With those words, Yuzuki's expression turned serious. She wasn't sure what the two of them had just done, but she wasn't going to take any chances. Better to make use of Suzu's overwhelming force in a one-on-one than in the two-on-two.
Suzu had let out a rather large yawn as the pair walked the halls in search for their opponents. Mind unfocused and bored, not even paying attention to where he was walking or what floor they were on now. The bomb could be five floors up and he wouldn't know but he had Yuzuki with him to stay focused on the task at hand. "I'm hungry…" Suzu mumbled under his breath, though loud enough to be heard by Yuzuki who seemed to stop in her tracks. She seemed to be focusing and that was when he noticed his ears felt some pressure.
Yuzuki was quick to change plans as she seemed to take notice in the change in pressure as well and wanted to just find the two and separate them as quickly as possible. Keep them far away from the bomb. "Accelerate the floor?" Suzu had no idea what that meant but she made it sound like it would help him smash the floor up which he could do on his own. He didn't need her help but if she wanted to offer it, then who was he to reject the helping hand.
"Lets get moving then!" He said with newfound vigor and purpose. Mind focused once more on the task as he bolted ahead in running motion to quickly find Ayesha and Renji. His arms already beginning to transform once more, ready to fight.
Ayesha was taking it all in. It was odd. There was a low rumble almost completely inaudible. If she didn't know what Renji was doing she wouldn't have even noticed as it already took so much focus just to notice a difference. That was until she heard something else.
It looked like Renji had gotten a reaction out of them after all. Before he let up on his trick, he saw that the two were now on the move at a more hurried pace. "Well Yuzuki.. Who's going to bait who for this I wonder?" Renji spoke to himself for a bit with a quiet laugh, "They're not guarding the bomb so they're confident in stopping us outright. They know we did something so now they're moving. I couldn't tell what floor the bomb could've been on but my guess higher than where they were… About… Hm.. Well, we could play it safe and avoid them or see how they play. Avoiding them would be a smarter option in the direness of the situation, but they both can be unpredictable. Even if we were to secure the bomb in a real situation, leaving wild cards on the loose would be a serious risk of unwanted retaliation… I think we'll need to consider this match more than just getting the bomb, despite what we were told…" Renji gave an uncertain chuckle behind his helmet, "We just might have to get rough after all."
Standing up, Renji tilted his neck left and right and cracked it, looking forward, "What do you think Ayesha? I know you'd want to avoid it but hey… How about we do half and half? We go for the bomb and find out where it is, it'll be likely they'll backtrack if we keep avoiding them. That way we can at least find out where it is. The time will pressure both sides…"
"We might find some traps perhaps but I can lay some as well.."
"I never said I wanted to avoid it. I'm just at a disadvantage. But a fight' a fight and I am itching!"
They were running out of time! This isn't how Suzu wanted to win at all! He wanted to actually fight and to test the limits of his classmates to see if they were a threat to him and his number one spot. So there he was in the mock building, turning corner after corner and going down a different stairwell to the next floor down before finally turning a corner to see the heroes, though they seemed prepared for him. "I found them!" Suzu yelled back behind him as he had expected Yuzuki to be right on his tail following.
Following Suzu's voice, a flow of blue energy passed by the floor. It quickly flew by him and the hero pair like a gust of wind, creating cracks and deformations on the floor as it passed by. It was clear that the ground was nowhere near stable now, and accelerated beyond what it's atoms could maintain. Right now they were bouncing to and fro in a massive destabilized wave. From behind Suzu, Yuzuki immediately shouted out… "Do it now, Fuchizaki!"
Suzu had no idea what his partner was doing ahead of him but he didn't care as he jumped forward and cocked his fist back. He brought his fist down with his momentum as his feet touched the floor and then his fist. His insane strength coupled with Yuzuki's atom thing she had just done caused the floor to shatter like glass underneath them.
Ayesha was ready when she saw them, "I'm pouncing in! Give me back-up!" She took a moment to spring back, preparing for a jump but just as she pushed her legs out from under her, the floor collapsed. "Huh?... Uuuuuuh, Renji? Does you're quirk make you taller?... Renji? RENJIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!"
If they could see his face, his brow would've been twitching as he watched Ayesha fall but when Suzu saw they were ready, they were for the most part. Renji had a feeling something was off with the flooring, but it was too late to react to Ayesha falling however. He himself moved back to a partially stable piece of flooring, but the hallway itself was practically shattered for this floor. Had he noticed sooner, perhaps he might've been able to interfere... But the present is now, and before trying to dive down to help his teammate, it was very likely that another white-haired individual would step in his way.
Looking on towards Yuzuki, Renji couldn't help but grin, "I had a feeling you two would have something set up but this is a surprise... I wasn't familiar with what you could do fully so I had no idea what I was feeling with the floor up until now… You just might have given me an idea however. Honestly… Despite Ayesha telling me to stick together, I had a faint idea of separating you two as well. You both left the bomb unguarded and I could tell you found out I was up to something.. I knew you two were coming early on."
"Had we made the first move, we could have separated the two of you and kept our two together.. Clearly, that's not the case…" He smiled behind his helmet and pulled himself into a sort of stance. It was likely Yuzuki wasn't going to let him get past her any further from this point on and something told him they were thinking something similar along the lines they may have known they'd be fighting each other. "I've been itching to see what you can really do in a fight. Normally I don't talk nearly this much…"
"I'm flattered… I assure you, the feeling is mutual. Now, then… Come, Hero." A cold smirk appeared behind Yuzuki's mask as she took steps forward from behind the now destroyed hallway. The blue glow across the entire place quickly faded away and now the walls were back to normal, despite their entirely broken disposition. The atoms were back in place, but the stability of the concrete wasn't any better. However, with that phrase, it was clear… Yuzuki was not his classmate at the moment, she was a full-fledged villain aiming to stop Renji… The hero.
Suzu vs Ayesha
The floor had collapsed underneath Suzu and Ayesha. Renji and Yuzuki weren't caught in the destructive attack and were a floor up above them but Renji would be unable to aid Ayesha in this fight now. Landing on his feet he looked up to see that Ayesha was turned more sideways in the air and didn't look like she would be landing on her feet and acting out with a hero mindset Suzu rushed forward and underneath where Ayesha would fall. He caught her, completely forgetting what was even going on. "Are you okay?" He would make quite the poor villain.
"IIIIIII-Oof! What the… Renji! You had one job!" Things hadn't gone at all as planned. All Ayesha noticed right now was that Renji was not next to her and that means that he had failed the one thing she told him to do. She took a moment to look around at her surroundings. It was a large room, pillars here and there supporting what remained of the floor. There were boxes and shelves in a few places. Seemed kinda like a warehouse, and- "Wait a second… Ah! Ayesha just then registered that Suzu had been jumped down there with her, and actually caught her. Startled by this sudden realization, she squirmed out of his grip(which wasn't difficult given he was trying to save her)
She scrambled to her feet a safe distance away from him. Looks like she was on her own. "Ugh, did it really have to be you? You'll save me, but you won't even remember my name. Alright then. Guess I'll pin you down and scream it into your ears till you remember. Be glad I'm not Momo-chan."
"Wha-! I remember your name! It is… " His voice trailed off as it was clear he didn't remember her name. He was bad with names and only remembered those that impressed him. "It is. Um. Yaeshea?" He was closer than most would give him credit for.
Immediately after "Yaeshea" debris from the collapsed floor above streaked through the air and hit him square in the forehead. "God you're an ass!" Ayesha started running around him in circles, occasionally ducking behind pillars. She had projectiles, and she was damn well going to use them. Any and all pieces no bigger than her fist were flung at high speeds against Suzu's shifted hide.
"Hey!" Suzu yelled as she hit him with a piece of rubble in the head. It stung but it only served to get his mind focused on the fight and not conversing with her. She was running around, throwing rubble at him as he raised his arms in front of his face and upper body. His arms were durable and could take the rubble smashing against his demonic arms and crumbling. "Think…" He said to himself, watching Ayesha from between his fingers to see if he could find a pattern in her movements. He took his time even though it was quite painful before feeling like he had seen an opening and leaping forward and punching one of the pillars she was ducking down behind to pick up a piece of rubble.
Ayesha knew this wasn't a permanent solution. It just gave her time as she tried to figure out what she was going to do. Well it did until the pillar she was behind crumbled almost on top of her. She let out a yell of surprise, and used her conveniently low positioning to bounce out before any of the crumbling pillar caught her. Well that's not gonna work… She kept running in the meantime, hoping that she could come up with something. And that's when she did. She did exactly what she had been the whole time. Hit and run with the rock.
She was springy, quick to run away from him as the pillar fell over. Arms raised up once more as more rubble was chucked his way. Right now it was a battle of who could last the longest. Eyes watching from behind the cracks of his fingers before moving forward again to punch the pillar that she ducks behind, except this time he was going to punch his whole hand through the pillar and grab her if possible. She may not be expecting him to be able to do that.
Crouched behind the pillar, Ayesha was prepared to strike as soon as it crumbled. It was a fine idea if it weren't for the Hellboy hand that had just punched straight through. Startled by this, Ayesha changed her trajectory to right past Suzu instead ending up behind him. What the hell is with those hands! That idea wasn't working either! Behind him now, she thought maybe she could land one good punch on him right now. With all her might, she pounced, rearing her fist back, aiming for the left temple.
Damn she was quicker than he was expecting but he had to be on his own toes and ready to move at a moments notice just like her as she sprung behind him. His head turning to see Ayesha cocking her fist back and aiming for his head. His own body moving as he raised his left hand just in time to catch the full force of her punch and seemed unphased by it. His hand was gripping her fist now, and this is where he wanted her. Unable to run away and keep him at a distance. "That was a mistake!" Suzu said before cocking his own fist back, the hand that was free. He wasn't going to hit her as hard as he could, afraid of actually hurting her.
"Grrrr! Let go of-Ngh!" He hit her square in the nose. Sure he didn't hit her as hard as he could but hard enough, and with hands larger than her face it's pretty easy to hit the part of the face that extends further than anything else. Argh! Jeez! Oh God. Am I bleeding? I'm bleeding aren't I?" She wasn't, but spoke in a nasally voice all the same, and was in pain, even if she was a bit of a drama queen. She did still get punched in the face, even if it wasn't that hard.
"Oh shit. I'm sorry Ayesha!" He said her name. Which meant he might actually know other peoples names, or he just remembered it in the fear of actually hurting her and not wanting to get in trouble. He let go of her hand and tried to get a good look at her face to make sure she wasn't actually injured. Broken noses could be dangerous at times.
Ayesha dropped to her feet, upset. She was really annoyed right now. "You're Goddamn right you're sorry!". She slammed her foot down right on top of his, and pushed herself off the ground landing a punch under his chin. As she landed back on the ground she addressed him for his error once again. My name is Ayesha! Not...uh… Ayesha… Looks like you got it right for once."
"That was quite the punch…" Suzu said, seeming dazed only for a second from her punch to his chin. It did hurt since she aimed for his head, and for a spot he couldn't enhance at the moment but he was still durable and didn't have a glass jaw. "Time to end this fight!" Suzu said suddenly and raised his fist, moving with newfound vigor.
"Oooooh I'm SO gonna-"
Bzzzzzt!
A buzzing noise was soon heard signifying that time was up and the Villains won. "Not how I wanted to win… but you surprised me Ayesha." He said before his arms began to transform back as he rubbed his chin.
"What? No! It can't have been 10 minutes already! I finally got in a solid hit…. Ayesha slumped to the floor pouting. After a while she finally stood up, and let out a light-hearted laugh. "I'm not as mad with you anymore, but know that I'll definitely beat you the next time. Also can you take me to Recovery Girl because I think I broke my finger when I punched you just now. Your jaw is surprisingly hard."
Enough was said at this point, but it warranted one last chuckle out of Renji as he shifted further into stance. If they continued here, it'd prove difficult for the both of them but perhaps that would give something the both of them would use against the other? Watching the ground go back to 'normal,' Renji looked over to Yuzuki as their first moves were likely about to begin. A shudder leaves his body and causes dust and debris to shake loose of their surroundings, but nothing else before he runs off, taking a bouncing step off a wall to his approach, Let's see just how fast she is…
As he stepped off of the wall, Yuzuki's eyes glued onto him. She had no intention of giving him the chance to adapt to her speed. Despite her quirk's potential for damage, she had other intentions in dealing with Renji, and this involved minimizing the amount of information ? was willing to give him. He already had far more than most students, given his grasp on her ability to accelerate inanimate objects. Taking a defensive stance, her arms concise inwards and palms open as she spread her legs, waiting for the impact. She prepared for whatever was to come, her eyes changing their color into a deep purple, circled by the various installations of the lenses she was wearing. Accelerating her perceptions would allow her to deal accordingly, for a moment…
The mech-wearing hero came in promptly with his feet hitting the ground on his approach. Another shudder came forth and she'd see his body shimmer for a moment before he let his feet slip up, his momentum bringing him closer to her now as he looked to take a real stance, starting with a kick coming from the side. Should he miss, his back would turn to her. Things were only getting started from here.
The kick came in with a nice speed and posture, but from what Yuzuki had seen, there was more to it. Her perceptions allowed her to see the shudder across his body. Vibrations… She wondered as her body moved on it's own. Letting his kick go by as she went down when he began the movement, she quickly aimed at his other supporting leg with a sweep of her right one. Although it was fast, it wasn't anywhere near her speed with her quirk. Indeed, she first needed to assess how resistant he was to damage, as well as if he had any other defensive tools with that quirk of his. This meant she wasn't going to use her quirk for the first moments of battle.
In a sense of it, he was glad of the reactions so far, letting out a surprised grunt as he's swept to the floor and fallen on his front. Responding in kind, Renji attempted the same legsweep against her but expected her to move out of the way instead. Slapping his hands to the floor with a low hum reverberating, he was soon shoved back onto his feet as the ground under his palms pulsed upward with the shock giving him a quicker rise. Getting his bearings, Renji rolled his neck and started to bounce-step in place, raising his arms. "Alright.. Don't get too focused now." Another hidden grin on his lips, he seemed to be enjoying it so far. For all he knew, he could be at a disadvantage with the fight. This time, he waited for her to make a move, all the while on every fourth step they could feel a 'beat.' For all intentions it was harmless, perhaps a habit, or a build up? Yuzuki wouldn't know.
As he fell, Yuzuki watched carefully. Seeing how his quirk was used to make the force of his palms to bounce him off the ground allowed her more insight into his own uses. However, there had to be more to it. As she saw him get up and stance himself once more, this time defensively, she scoffed and crossed her arms in what seemed like a faked disdain. Right now, she was playing a part of the villain, something that she felt was necessary to remind him of his objectives. "Hero… Aren't you taking things too lightly? Remember, that bomb will go off in six minutes. If you do not come at me with everything you have… You won't make it." Her voice was cold and almost imposing. The goading wasn't aimless, however. She had the intention to force him to use more of his quirk. She needed more information, after all…
Regardless, the level of information she had thus far granted her one insight: He was attempting to bait her. He wanted information himself. Still close to the ground, Yuzuki neared her hands to the floor again. She might as well repeat the same feat, considering he'd get no information from it. As her hands neared the floor, a blue light emanated from her palms and spread across it, slightly beyond where he was. The cracked floor once more seemed to dismantle itself, ready to give in at any moment. However, as soon as she did that, the glow also appeared across her legs. Just then, her movement was to jump towards the ceiling in a blur. A small dust wave appeared from where she was, and while her movement was not even close to the speed she displayed at the ball test, it was faster than during that sweep. Jumping towards the ceiling, she positioned her legs just to make another pop-off. With the ground below Renji unstable, she couldn't land there, and passed right by him to his behind, by his left side. Spinning her body, her left fist moved to meet the middle of his back within the same time the floor began to crumble away at the impact she had just done. Now then, the question was what reaction she would get from him…
{/slide}
{slide=Part 2|left}
A single laugh admittedly escaped him, "Maybe you're right.." As the floor looked ready to dismantle as parts of Yuzuki glowed, Renji's bouncing stopped as one foot hit the floor harder than the other. For all intentions, what she did looked like it worked, but only half as much as she probably expected. She was on the ceiling, and nearly just as quickly ended up beside him. He used his quirk twice more during this, having done something to soften the acceleration she caused - one that might raise a fair question. The second, while she was showing impressive speed, she was not being met with an open back alone, with Renji spinning himself to meet her with the back of his arm - a 'crack' familiar to the ball test having sounded after she landed with her to notice the speed in which he was swinging. "... But maybe, neither of us are yet?" What's more, that familiarly recent hum in her ear may return.
Seeing her fist connect, but the force being diminished, she smirked behind the mask. This was the defensive tool he had. Blunt force won't do the trick, huh… However, her assault was only beginning now. Although his reactions were faster than she expected, they were still far behind what she could do. Ducking below his vibrating arm, she moved closer to his side. Forming a chop with her hands, she focused her sight on his neck and armpit. The point was to hit the weakest points. Before he could react and while his arm was spread wide, Yuzuki moved with seemingly increasing speed. Her "chop" hand went straight towards his armpit in enormous speed, puncturing cleanly through the armor and resulting in a cutting force upwards. If blunt force wasn't going to do the trick, then she'd using her speed to turn her arm into a sword. Although her speed was increasing, this was still not even half of her max. Making use of his bad position, however, she grappled onto his leg with her other free hand and pulled him, slamming him against the nearby wall of the hallway. Taking a few steps back, she positioned herself into an aggressive stance. The adrenaline was finally kicking in and the pain from the last few movements fading away. In due time, the muscles would heal as well. All she needed was to hold him here until the time out or until Suzu returned from his fight against Nishinoya-san.
Renji could feel the urgency of the situation when Yuzuki ended up punching through his suit, his arm felt like it could have been torn from him. Her planned onslaught once more would come with kinks as Renji barked out a yell, that hum would suddenly jack up higher as if a firework just went off. Being lifted into the air at that time, Renji would be thrown for the wall but not nearly as hard. Turning to meet it if he could, he still gave a pained grunt on the impact before the wall shuddered, throwing himself back towards Yuzuki. Whatever she did, his left arm didn't feel right but if she had herself caught off-guard long enough, Renji would come in charging with his right to grab onto her to slam her against the other wall. Whether he did or missed, Renji turned to face his opponent as the floor around him started to shake in a constant now. He only focused in bursts so far, but Renji knew that even if it was a bait long gone, testing the waters was well overdue. He winced in pain and growled, staring on with a grin, "Like I said.. Don't get too focused now or you might find yourself lost in balance.."
Yuzuki's expression didn't change from her harsh scowl and serious gaze as he showcased more of his quirk's potential. It doesn't matter what offensive you showcase… Even jamming my Quirk's potential won't help you. With the ground shaking as it was, using her quirk on her legs was impossible, lest she would fumble at the first movement. Regardless, the rest of her body was still free and… Most importantly, her accelerated perception quickly grew. By now, Renji was moving so slowly she could tell despite the jarring sensation and unfocused sight the grumbling building managed to create. As he moved in, Yuzuki took a sharp step backwards and let herself fall. Her leg moved upwards however and quickly connected with his middle section. The vibrations coming from him quickly affected it, however, and she winced. Even then, this pain was nothing comparable to what she could do to herself when in Acceleration. Tumbling backwards, she used the momentum to heave her leg and him along into the wall backwards in stunning speed. Discoordinated and quite painful, the movement was both degrees desperate and uncoordinated, but the force was more than enough to do what she wanted, sending Renji into the wall as she tapped her hand onto it. With her Acceleration traveling through it, the wall crumbled apart, sending Renji into the new, larger room with force. As he flew farther from her, the vibrations reduced.
Getting up as the vibrations were now not as harsh as before, she eyed Renji with a confident and reinvigorated smirk. Chuckling to herself, she scoffed once again. Those vibrations would make it so that whatever she did had to be done mid-air or quickly enough that he wouldn't be able to react. Besides, she was sure that it wasn't so easy to keep it constantly going if he was holding himself back before. "Shaking the building, huh… I knew that quirk of yours was problematic. Regardless, I wonder how long you can keep this up. After all, it can't be easy generating this much force constantly." Indeed, there was a difference between them here. Yuzuki's quirk was slowly powering up, whereas he had a debilitating injury on his arm she would regenerate her injuries from previous hits soon. Right now her back hurt specially from that little feat of his. Those vibrations were nothing to laugh at, she'd have to be careful on her next escape so that to minimize the injuries.
Having been thrown for another loop, Renji was taken through the wall without much fuss but it wasn't the building he was intentionally shaking. Pulling himself up with a few shaky breaths, he held his left arm for a moment before looking over to the hole Yuzuki had created with him. He was still smiling but it eventually dropped as he stood straight, "Four floors above, isn't it… Hard to tell, even when we started. There's something strange in one of the rooms, a missing support." He looked to ignore her question on his endurance, she was right but there was still more to show. "Acceleration they said, huh? By now I must look blurry or something. Wonder how that's like… Like yours isn't problematic either." He raised a hand up to his helmet and pushed it off, holding it in his right hand, the look he gave her was a challenging one, a smile creeping back on. He looked worn for sure, but a spark in his eyes showing he wasn't going to give up, "I'm not done yet.." There's still a few things I have in mind, mostly in theory. If it works… Well… Gonna have to find out.
{slide=Part 3|left}
In the middle of his words, from the other side of the hole Yuzuki prepared something to surprise her enemy. Taking two marbles from the harness besides her, she quickly placed them on her hand in a slingshot form. Acceleration, the blue glow, passing over her fingertips to the marbles, focused onto her hand and ready to blast was released in a massive unfurling of force. The two marbles traveled faster than the eye could see directly towards Renji. She knew well blunt force wouldn't work to damage him, but by this point her focus had changed. In order to defeat him, she had to remain outside of his range. Those vibrations would eventually wear him off. Until then, attacking up close was impossible. Since her objective was to protect the bomb, she had no need to offensively strike him. The marbles posed a simple objective to make him use his quirk more and wear him off.
As the wall between the two of them crumbled entirely away, she stepped forward into the now dust-filled larger room. "Indeed. Acceleration is my Quirk. You must've heard it from the news a few times already. Hero name: Blur." She began speaking, her villain tone dropping at last. The situation had gone far from the villain vs hero trope. "A single search on the Internet can reveal much about his quirk and it's uses, revealing mine as well, right? That would be so, but unfortunately my Quirk isn't the same as his. At least not entirely. The base for our Quirks have been the same for generations, but each new offspring finds it changed somehow. My father was the first to weaponize it, whereas I am the first to have control of outside foundations. I won't be Blur, I'll be a better Blur." There was no sign of hesitation on what she had just said. Yuzuki's tone was entirely confident, not even a shred of doubt. Taking a defensive stance, she held more marbles on her hand by now. She only needed a single opening and this battle would be over, but for now she just needed to wear him off. Keeping her distance was key, she wasn't going to let him get any closer than she wanted him to.
As her little surprise was made, Yuzuki would've heard the crack of the marbles hitting something before a thud and the rattle of his helmet careened on the floor. More dust had kicked up from the room, and Yuzuki was met with no clear sign of him except among the dust as she spoke. She spoke all the way through without interruption, but she'd find him making himself known, getting up from a small ways away from where he would've been previous. He coughed, from all the dust as he let out a quiet laugh, "Maybe I did. But research? No, I'd rather see it up close. Even during the ball test it got me thinking." He reached down by his neck where the suit would've connected by the helmet and seemed to yank up a pair of thin headphones and slipped them over - they almost looked like the ones he always wore in class.
"That's some pride… Keep that goal." The dust around him and soon the whole room would clear out through the hole in the wall and any other open places, "Not a bad idea, those marbles… You probably would've got me if you aimed a bit more to the left." He beamed a toothy grin, showing his usual friendly atmosphere back in class for the moment and took a breath. It was soon replaced back with a more serious demeanor, "Probably too much food for thought for my own good, but tell me… I have one last trick in mind and you and I both know this'll end one of two ways. Capture is out of the question to the both of us, but by the end of it if either of us leave this room, one of us is gonna be knocked out. Feeling favorable odds? Who knows…" He probably wasn't wrong, but he was making it clear he was intent on moving and he was surely aware she might try and pull another marble. She wasn't wrong to keep her distance but can she be sure it will stay that way?
As he spoke, Yuzuki's brow clearly twitched. In a stupor of her own idiocy she spoke too much. So much for not revealing my Quirk's secrets, huh… By this point, however, it hardly matters. If he wants to finish this, then I'll see to it now. Looking over to her opponent one last time, she smirked in confidence. There was no need for any more words. Her quirk quickly spread across her body once more. This time she wasn't going to hold anything back. The very air around her charged itself with the Acceleration, and slowly but surely steam started to form around her body. "Favorable odds… This isn't a matter of luck. No matter what you do here, you won't win." Putting one of her feet in front of her before slowly moving her own body downwards, both of her hands touched the ground besides her now stretched forward leg. "Your tricks won't win you this fight, so show me what you're capable of." A challenging smirk grew on her face as she stared him down once more, the very air around her moving backwards in a flurry of speed. Her figure blurred as if doubting it's own existence for once. She had an aim to take and her right hand had marbles enough to punish him if he attempted anything from range. If he was so intent on knocking himself out, she would give him all she had before he did.
{/slide}
{slide=Part 4|left}
"Charge!" With that, the entire floor below her crushed itself under her weight. The blue energy enveloped everything around her in an globe around her.
Renji couldn't help but beam his smile as wide as can be as he looked at her with equal challenge. What he said earlier was coming up, whether one of them would be left standing. While the whole ordeal was less than probably six minutes, it could have felt like an hour to them. By all means, Yuzuki had the upper hand against him for most of the fight, but he kept coming back with plans of his own. Laughing, he was using his voice now as his vibrations around him echoed with it, "Give it your all, Yuzu-san. You got me good on my left arm, if you truly were a villain I just might've lost it. But you're right.. We don't need luck, now let's show the others a good finish…" A few cracks were heard as he shifted his legs, and like that he was off. He wouldn't come in at Yuzuki directly, looking to forcefully change his directions quickly at each crack that resounded. It was a punishment to him at this point for sure, but time was wearing thin on plenty counters in this case. Whether she fired any marbles at him or not, he was intent on clearing that distance with his right hand shaking erratically.
Having charged up her own quirk, the steam present behind Yuzuki served only to showcase when her blurry figure disappeared, leaving behind a line of dust and blue energy as she directly moved towards him. A popping sound of force was heard and suddenly, she was by his right side at last when her fist was ready to dive into his face before, by reaction, he spun around. As he did, the shaking right hand brushed itself against her breast and in a reaction of panic, grappled upon it. Huh…? Suddenly stopping her movements, the force of the air dragged off against the two of them, the steam and dust created by her movements washing by them. "Did… Did you just…" For once Yuzuki was thankful that her quirk at high speeds rose steam and dust, after all her face was as red as it could be right now. Slapping his right hand away from her, she immediately shouted out. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" Her voice was both flustered and enraged as she moved backwards and used her right arm to cover herself. Perhaps Renji was lucky that she couldn't see him right now, because her face was filled with an enraged embarrassment. Her gritting teeth could be easily heard as she grumbled below her breath.
When he realized what had happened, Renji could not possibly show just how much awkward dread he was feeling as a cold sweat went over him as he stumbled back on his feet, "Wh-- I-- … No! NO NO NO! I DIDN'T MEAN--... I'm sorry!!"
As soon as the steam and dust started to settle down and she was able to see him, her left hand quickly formed a fist and slammed onto his blabbering face before he could react. "Perverted idiot!" She shouted out in a rage as he flew off to the ground knocked out flat. Eyeing the boy in gaze only comparable to despise, fury and embarrassment, a shiver ran up Yuzuki's spine. Her sight was only taken away at the moment of declaration of the match's end at last. It seems like she and Suzu had won by timeout, meaning he was able to hold Nishinoya from reaching the bomb. Often she would've smirked confidently at this victory, but as soon as her eyes once more landed on Renji, her face twisted in an pained expression. Never… Never once in her life had that happened… What a great experience for her first battle…
Yoshi and Ren Collab
With the final group finishing up Yoshi examined his notes that he took during the test. While the students showed promise and surprised him in certain areas it was clear that they were still lacking in others. They needed a stronger bond between each other if they were to work together. Understandable why they would not have developed such a thing in only a week but U.A. needed to hasten that process. Villain activity was starting to pick up at a heavier rate with each passing day since the disappearance of All Might, a secret that they were doing their best not to leak.
Recovery Girl was checking over the students one final time before they were brought back into the basement of the first building they had gone into where Yoshi and Ren. "Congratulations to those that won and good job to those that didn't fair as well." Yoshi started off, feeling it appropriate to say something nice to the students first before telling them about their next assignment, which would be an after school hours assignment. "One thing that was lacking in your group test today was proper communication and teamwork. Heroes work best when together. You have only known each other for a week, not nearly enough time to begin trusting one another so that is why U.A. believes it to be important that you spend some time after school 'hanging' out as you kids would call it." Yes. The next assignment would be them to act their age and spend time together like normal teenagers would. It was a great way to learn about each other and grow more comfortable with them and even start to trust them.
During the two versus two combat trial, Ren had eventually made his way to the basement where he could oversee all the action happening between the students. Once the trial was more or less over, he was standing next to Yoshi, wihle the latter was talking to the students. Recovery Girl had done a good job in healing most of his students. Ren's golden eyes squinted ever so slightly, glancing at each and everyone of them.
Once Yoshi was done talking, Ren jumped in, continuing. "Yes, it is also important for you all to prepare for the U.A. Festival in the near future. Consider this an opportunity to work together, because as I've mentioned it before, it is absolutely important for a hero. You're all here to become one, right?" A rhetorical question escaped his lips.
"Uhh, yeah.." Ren took a simple pause. "Like Nishio-san said, communication was lacking."
"Some of you also forgot about your objective, as the timer ran out. Now imagine if this was an actual villain. You need to have a clear mind during situations like this. I am sure you'll stumble upon them much more frequently when you're actually out there."
"So "hang" out at the mall. That is where both I, and Nishio-san will meet you kids at a later time. We'll continue from there on. Think of it as a.. Uhh.. Extra curricular activities." Glancing over at his fellow co-worker, he was wondering if there was more to say on the matter. This was, after all, a combat trial ran by none other than Nishio Yoshihito.
"Anyone that doesn't show up to the mall after school for this assignment will be viewed as a student that doesn't wish to become a top hero and doesn't belong in U.A. and will be expelled." He didn't think he could actual expel a student because they didn't want to do something after school but he was hoping that it would scare them enough to actually do it. They needed the students to cooperate with them and just do as they were told. They couldn't tell them about the missing All Might or the increase in villain activity.
"Now run along and get back to class before you are late." Yoshi kind of waved his hand at them like they were pestering him.
As they were leaving he would call out one final time. "Don't forget. The mall. After school." This was Principal Nezu's idea and like hell he was going to fail it because of insubordinate students.
"Oh, and.. Good job during the trials today.. All of you." Once the students had left as per Yoshi's request, he turned to his side. Ren scratched the back of his head, pulling up his book from his backpocket.
"Alright then Nishio-san. I guess I'll be heading off too."
Having looked at the other teams she was starting to have second thoughts. Were they that desperate to be number one? Maria had simply wanted to protect and serve the people.. Having joined the UA as hopefully faster means to that end and thinking back to the fight with Takagi, if this was what it meant to be a Hero, did she have what it took?
"...maybe I should return home to Europe after all.." She mumbles softly, having second thoughts on just how to best make use of her talents the Foreigner sighs, she had already went too far, might as well keep going, see what happens. The connections formed here could be useful at least, but she doubted she would ever have the same intensity over a contest like they did. She wanted to be a hero in the classical sense..but this..it seemed more like a contest where the common man was just a pawn of no value.. Maybe she was wrong, but that's how it seemed for now.
With the mention of the Villains, she wasn't even sure why they dealt with that as they did, or why the bomb would matter in a situation with an empty building. Much in regards to this pulled at her string of Logic, though on note of the battles, she still hadn't seen the Dog Boy, was he still being healed?
Putting aside her own thoughts, her questioning her efforts and reasons, all she could do now was walk forward and see just what her idea of a Hero actually was. For now she had a Duty to perform. Pondering rearming her dolls with lances for pinning and trapping, or practicing shallow cuts to ligaments to better disable a foe, her new train of thought came to an even more bitter and suspicious halt.
A Mall? What in the world would I do in a mall? I never shop in them! Does he know anything past reminding us of his precious rankings?
Narrowing her eyes at this new instruction, she didn't have a single idea what she would do in such a place. Her skills as a craftsman were better than the cheap mass-produced crap they sold. Visibly sighing, she had hoped to rest and work on her weapons today, now she would be stuck finding something to do or sitting in a lobby or tea house.
Arching her eyebrows with a visible look of disgust, why were the teachers meeting them at the mall and demanding they went? Were they some sort of perverts hard pressed for a date? Then again didn't one of her instructors always have that one book on his person? Either way most of her dolls were still intact and she had a bad feeling about this.. Trouble was sure to follow them somehow, or her instructors were perverts, or operating in their own little world.. As a refined Lady, she was not sure which was worse.
"..Yes Sir.." She says however in response, leaving her objections unvoiced.
Turning on her heels, Maria didn't care to stay behind and talk with the others. Heading straight for the mall in her typical dress, Maria waits in the central lobby, hoping a cat café or tea house was inside of this giant steel and glass monstrosity.
Katsumi really appreciated Recovery Girl's treatment as she knew on the surface it seemed like all he had was a stab wound, while in fact the entire inside of his body had been through quite a lot. He'd be informed that he may still experience some minor shaking for awhile longer but it should end come the morning. Throughout the rest of the school day Katsumi struggled to use his pencil properly in the middle of class, usually having to grasp one hand with the other until the shakes ceased. Naturally he pursued to not make eye contact with Shouya for the remainder of the day; too shaken up to look him in the eyes.
Doubt was now slithering its way through the student's mind. Could he really be a hero? Was he really cut out for this? He wasn't like Suzu, Shouya, Ayesha or any of them. They all seemed to fight with little to no doubt, going at each other so seriously.
I don't care about being number one. I just wanna help people. Isn't that what heroes do?
He did have to agree with their sensei though; teamwork didn't seem to be a big factor but it was easy to see why. Half of the class are super competitive all wanting to be the next All Might. If Katsumi recalled, the most memorable heroes weren't self centered ones. Later into the school day he'd stop himself from thinking all of these negative things. Such thoughts only ruined one's day and corrupted the heart his dad would tell him.
Finally at the mall after school things were looking up as his sudden shakes seemed to stop for the time being. On the flip side he somehow ended up following Ayesha-san around as she shopped; caring ALL of her bags. Who was he kidding, he was a total pushover when it came to people in general never mind girls that most guys would consider cute. He wore a dower expression though as he was already holding three bags in each hand and they only seemed to get heavier.
Is it true that Americans shop like this all the time? He couldn't help but wonder though he quickly shook the thought from his head fearing Ayesha would catch wind of the thought.
After some time Katsumi would pipe up however, most likely interrupting the girl's usual humming.
"Um...Ayesha-san, I don't think this is what our teachers meant by working on communication." His voice of course lacked little confidence as per usual, almost sounding like an unsure question.
SHOUYA AZUHA
Even if he was mostly exhausted with cuts and bruises by the two versus two combat trial, Recovery Girl wasted no time in healing him up. Shouya's hero outfit, however, needed proper maintenance before he could use it again. After all, this suit was merely a prototype. It was to test how well it would go against someone during a combat, and so far, what he needed was to somehow make it more durable against physical attacks.
Returning back to the room in the basement where all the action could be seen through the screens that were put up there, he was standing next to the others while their teachers were giving them a simple explanation about what they could have done better. Shouya didn't really have much to say, but he felt that his teamwork with Mezame was good enough. They were able to come out victorious during the battle, but then again, they only did communicate early during the test.
So far, the top three and their teams had achieved victory. Takagi's team, but also Suzu's. Shouya and Katsumi's teams were the first one up, so he was able to observe all of the battles happening after him. It was actually a positive outcome for him. Though he was very interested in how difficult some of these Quirks would make it for him if he were to ever go up against someone like Yuzuki, and or Takagi, maybe Amanar.
But now, they were all told to return back to class for the duration of their school day, before making their way towards the mall. Apparently, the lack of teamwork needed something, and because of it, his class would have to spend time together. Socialize and strike a conversation or two. Use the time together in order to create a more solid bond between one another.
According to their homeroom teacher, Tada-sensei, that was quite important. Shouya mentally did agree to it, but felt that it was a waste of time. They could do the same thing back at the Academy.
Back in his classroom, he could see that the air around them had changed. It was likely because of the combat trial. He could clearly notice that Katsumi was trying to ignore him, despite their good friendship over the first week. Not one to pry, he decided to follow the rest when the time had come.
Once they were at the mall, some went their own way, while others formed a group. His hands were pocketed, his school back around his shoulder. Wearing the usual U.A. uniform, he was pretty much sticking with Takagi for the moment. Though, they all had agreed to meet at the center of the mall in a few hours, when their teachers would arrive and give them their next assignment.
"Did the others do this as well?" Shouya asked Takagi, wondering if the second, or the third years went through something similar as well. While they were walking past the shops, the people in the mall, he was looking at his surroundings, but mainly out of curiosity.
"I'm talking about the second and the third years.. This trip to the mall."
