New York's resident hang-out spot. Located just outside the theatre district, Murphy's is nestled in a nice, cultured niche in NYC. Attracting the snazziest jazz bands and lounge performers, Murphy's has a long list of esteemed clientele.
Spread across 3 floors in an ancient downtown building, Murphy's boasts a basement jazz club and bar, a restaurant/bar on ground level and an upper floor which houses private rooms for meetings and small event bookings and of course, the managers office.
Keeping such a busy venue afloat takes a variety of skilled staff and Murphy's can brag that it has the best ... But working in a high pressure environment is no easy task. This RP follows the staff and patrons as they try to survive the 9-5 (or whatever shifts they're on!) while juggling personal dramas and work stress...

Each evening, when her father returned home, she would have to prepare dinner as he could barely stand up after each work day from exhaustion which got Evelynne her current cooking skills.
Around when Evelynne turned 16, her father died from a cardiac arrest and her mother basically abandoned her. She had to go find work and the quickest thing she could find was some minor modelling. So for the next few years of her life, Evelynne worked as a model. She became quite popular but when she got to the ripe age of 25 she decided she'd want to pursue her passion of cooking.
Evelynne would find out about this restaurant named Paragon, which was usually looking for people to work there. So Evelynne decided to go on a road trip to the restaurant. She spent a few weeks to get to the restaurant and celebrated her birthday alone while roadtripping. When she got there, she applied for a job right away as Exec Chef. She showed off her skills and was hired soon after. This would allow Evelynne to have some time around a beautiful landscape while having some time away from the camera.

Brief Description: Ilan is slightly shorter than average with ginger hair, brown eyes and a slim build. He has an angular face and his eyes have a bit of a sleepy quality that can sometimes give the impression of boredom or even anger. He doesn't work out very often, but has had many odd jobs in manual labor that keep his awful diet from catching up with him.
Personality:
Ilan is sort of all over the place. While is rather private about most things in his life, the right person could come along, click with him and then hear his whole life story in an afternoon. He has a soft spot for warm people, or anyone who is willing to poke and prod at him to get to the squishy, soft feelings that he keeps buried deep down. Ilan would rather come off as cold and standoffish than weak.
Deep down, Ilan is a very caring person. He wants to do his best for the few people who care to be in his life, but anxiety leads to bumps in the road and it's difficult for him to recover. Due to the hardships in his past, though, Ilan is patient and forgiving; he isn't the type to abandon a friendship even if it's turned toxic.

Life hasn't been all that kind to Ilan. Born in Louisiana, his father left shortly after he came into the world, but his mother remarried before he was two years old, choosing a man who wanted a family of his own. Although Ilan got along well enough with his step-brother and sister, there was always resentment between himself and his mother's husband, which lead to him acting out during elementary and middle school. His anger and abandonment issues manifested themselves in anger, leading to fights with kids at school, and self-harm that Ilan still feels shame over as an adult.
Ilan never graduated high school, instead choosing to drop out at sixteen. He ran off to Baton Rogue to find his father, but only found more disappointment when the last known address belonged to an ex-girlfriend. She was nice enough to let Ilan stay for a while, and he worked two jobs in order to become independent. It wasn't a good environment, though, full of drugs and alcohol that Ilan believed he was old enough to dabble in. Soon, all of his money was going to partying, and when his father's ex-girlfriend got arrested, Ilan was left back at square one.
Luckily, Ilan has always had a good work ethic and the manager at the Paragon took some pity on him when he came in begging for a job. Now he works as a line cook, hoping to find some stability even though the struggle is getting to him.

Brief Description: Pleasantly scruffy ... Dom is a pretty standard hipster, nature-loving dude. He'd scrub up pretty well if he tried, with pleasant features and gorgeous brown eyes, but he doesn't dress up, happy to lol around in a pair of beat up jeans and a hoodie or faded out shirt with some ironic slogan on it. He loves wearing beanies and only owns one pair of (seriously worn out) sneakers.
He has a bunch of tattoos, if he said they all had special meanings ... he'd be lying because the peace logo tattooed on his arse was the product of one too many beers rather than a thoughtful endeavour. He has plenty of cool tatts though, some of them symbolic but most of them are just something he felt like at the time.
His medium brown hair is generally well kept, mostly because keeping it longer was faaaar too much hard work for this laid back dude.

Unlike some of his friends, Dom doesn't have a life plan or any big goals or dreams, he takes life as it comes, which is reflected in his utterly calm and relaxed personality.
He's hard to stress out (though it helps that he smokes weed ...), and even pretty hard to offend. Most people who try to start fights with him don't usually get very far. He shrugs off conflict pretty easy but he does have buttons than can be pushed (though you ought not to, just saying).
He's not particularly optimistic or pessimistic, just realistic, though he always looks for the positives. Every cloud has a silver lining. Lately he's been a little more stressed than usual (more in his bio) which is affecting his performance at work, although he's trying to juggle a lot of things and cover this up.

He wanted adventure and he got it. He floated around a couple of states before finally heading down south to New Orleans where he landed a job in Paragon pretty soon after moving out there, things luckily fell into place just perfectly for him. His life was pretty normal and uneventful although full of adventure. He was the basic country-boy-turned-city-man, living in a tiny apartment, earning just enough to get by, spending his weekends camping up in the mountains just outside the city.
The biggest event in his life has to have been moving in with his most recent boyfriend, Lucas. They had instant chemistry and they hit the ground running pretty hard and fast but it quickly blossomed into a deep, beautiful romance. It seemed that the wandering boy from Maine was finally putting down some roots, settling down... All was going well until Lucas began having strange dreams ... and then hallucinating while he was awake.
While facing schizophrenia is a terrifying new venture, Dom has been incredibly supportive of Lucas, using his wages from working at Paragon to help Lucas afford appointments with a psychiatrist. It's hard keeping up with the rent, bills and the treatments, but Dom is adamant he'll make this work. Ashton was born in Dallas, Texas and is the oldest of three girls. Her father worked in finance, and her mother, a former Miss Texas, was a homemaker and social climber. There was immense pressure, throughout Ashton's childhood and teenage years to always look presentable, to always be pretty and always leave a good impression on people because she was a reflection of the family. Ashton hated the stuffy world that her mother came from, but did a few pageants (and lost) to try and please her.
Eventually, Ashton's distaste for the Dallas social scene became a wedge between her and her mother and eventually her sisters and father as well. At eighteen, Ashton married her high school boyfriend just for a chance to get out and break free. With no money, his job seeking landed them in Louisiana, where their marriage began the slow process of falling apart.
Six months ago, Ashton filed for divorce after her husband's affair came to light and moved out the next day, leaving the majority of her things behind. Christina was adopted by a gay couple when she was only two years old. She was never told about her real parents and she never asked. In school Christina was always involved in school activities, from prom committee to yearbook. She was always doing something and helping out. coralynn is not someone you'd describe to be breathtakingly gorgeous however she does make people in the street stop to give her a once over, mainly because of her vibrantly coloured hair. it's always changing, and usually never stays one solid colour. she puts her artwork and knowledge of colours into her hairstyles and blends two colours or even three to make her hair stand out no matter where she is, which is quite bright compared to her natural blonde hair. her eyes are a steely grey, her complexion fair and creamy. she's not very curvy in terms of stature, nowhere near an hourglass figure or even a pair shaped one. her frame is petty rectangular and straight, any way you look at her. she tends to dress in loose tank tops and shorts and has a very bohemian dressing sense, so she often looks skinnier than she actually is, but it isn't because she starves herself or anything. she actually loves to eat. she just hardly puts on weight.

it's hard to not like from the first meeting. whether you're shy or moody, she just has this way of speaking to people that makes them feel more welcome and less conscious about themselves or what they're going to say. her very smile invites people and she doesn't disappoint. she's very free-spirited and not one that takes things sitting down. she stands up for what she believes in and works fiercely toward any goal in mind. she likes to explore and experience new things, though her ability to get distracted has often been a cause for concern, which is why she primarily chose to wait tables as a youngster, having almost burned down the kitchen at home when she forgot about food kept on the stove. coralynn is independent and hard working, but she also has her flaws, as everyone does. she can be quite stubborn, often unwilling to admit defeat in whatever she does. she also doesn't take too lightly to criticism and tends to do and say things without thinking them through first.

BIOGRAPHY
cory is probably one of the few that work at paragon, that has no interest in the culinary arts whatsoever. since she was a child, she was more inclined to the arts, which included both visual and perfomance. she loves to paint, she loves to sing and play instruments, but most of all, she loves taking pictures. photography became a passion of hers from a very young age. she had looked to it in a time of need -- that time being when her parents both died in a car crash. she had been ten years old, and her brother fourteen. they were taken in by their dad's brother, a bachelor with no kids. he didn't have much of an inclination toward romantic relationships once he got two kids to clothe and feed. they took all his time and energy but never once did he complain or wish it was different.
their family was never well off. he made just enough money to get by. cory waited tables in various small time diners, eventually moving onto restaurants since it paid better. her brother did better, considering his work prospects were more 'practical', according to him. he wanted to become a lawyer, and he worked hard for it. having waited tables himself, he knew he couldn't stand to do it forever, nor did he want to take over his uncle's auto shop. he studied and got accepted into a good law school. cory got accepted into a school for the visual arts but she knew she couldn't rely on her uncle forever.
ideally, she would have wanted to start off her college years working for a company where she would be required to take pictures. she got what she wanted, but she realised that working as an assistant to a wedding photographer was more like a full time job, and with classes and projects, this was something she found hard to do, especially since there were no set timings. she was growing to dislike the fact that she was called in at random times of the day, at a whim, and she didn't want to end up hating the very thing she loved. after one particular shoot, for a wedding held at Paragon, she realised she could go back to waiting tables. if she worked somewhere like Paragon, considering it was a pretty well known restaurant and one of the best, she figured she would get some good pay. so, she applied to be a waitress there, and fortunately, landed the job. she was good at what she did since she had been doing it for a while, and she just had this vibrant personality that made customers always feel welcome. she knew how to handle messy situations and troublesome customers and because she really needed the money, there was never a day she slacked off.
