HAPPY NEW YEAR, IWAKU! We're pleased to be ringing in a new year, in a community filled with great members and fantastic roleplays! What's our community resolution? To make sure we have a diverse collective of stories for you to participate in. To make sure posts are interesting and creative. And to continue being one of the most friendly and relaxed roleplay community out there. We can only reach these goals if you help, so get out there and keep on being awesome. :D

Totally awesome Iwaku swag? We're working on it!
The Iwaku 2012 Pets Calendar along with a random tshirt design and whatever other cool stuff we can make up will be featured in our zazzle shop and soon to be open, cafepress shop! You too can walk around wearing Iwaku all over you.

We're here to enjoy ourselves! Always remember that.
With this new year, we want to remind everyone why we're here at Iwaku. Be it playing pretend or writing a good story, we're all here to have fun with our friends and meet other creative people. Be respectful of other members, new and old, roleplay newbie or roleplay veteran. We're here for the good times, so lets make them rock.

When possible, support Iwaku with donations!
Just when we were -finally- making enough cash off our advertisements to cover all server costs, we lost of ad sense account! :( Over the next couple of weeks we'll be trying new ads to see what works the best for us. Please don't click spam these ads! If you want to help Iwaku through a donation we also have Subscriptions. One time and reoccurring. When you donate, you name is green for a month - just like the moolah you're sharing to help keep Iwaku on a private server and away from scary places like proboards.

You don't have to be on staff to help participate in a community project that helps Iwaku! We have several Project Groups were both members and staff work on different ways for bringing more content and fun stuff to the site. Join up!

Our Member of the Month is Tribute; She is a great personality and a fun person to interact with, be it in the cbox or in a roleplay!

Great Topics This Month:
  • Asmo's American Adventure: This goes first for the simple fact that this is a Nicholas Sparks-level sweet-sappy tale of love and life, meaning: you'll get all teary eyed! Congrats to the love birds!
  • Your Christmas Haul and Traditions: Okay, now we can talk about Christmas! Title says it all: what made your Christmas special, and what did Santa leave you under the tree?!
  • The Hobbit: Now taking it to pop-culture, did you know that there's a trailer for The Hobbit? Y'know, the prequel to The Lord of the fricken Rings!
  • STAR WARS: The Old Republic: Time for some gaming! Did you hear about that new MMO? Y'know, the Star Wars one that's going to sink WoW? Yeah. Let us rant and rave!
  • Movies that cannot be unseen.: I'm not sure I want to add this, but this is something we all need to see... if just to save one another's souls.
  • Which Pokemon Are YOU?: Time to wash our minds out with a good ol' fashioned fun quiz! Indeed, which pokemon would be you?
  • Your Weapon of Choice!: Okay, this is cool. You're down to defending yourself-- what do you use to do it?! And no, Christopher Walken is not a viable option here!
  • Personal Habits: Got any quirks? Bad habbits, nervous ticks, and other little things you do through your day to day? Share!
  • A love of Winter Coats: Okay, time to tell a secret: Seiji loves fashion! That said, omg I love fall/winter gear, especially coats! How about you?!

  • Disney Love - Weather you are into classic or new Disney, this is the place for you. Join in the conversations, ranging from music to fandom.
  • Procrastination Club - I would much rather join this club tomorrow, because I'll have more time then. Does this sound like you? Like putting off various activities "Until tomorrow", um yeah. If you don't procrastinate on one thing today, make it joining this club!
  • The Bondage club - First and foremost, 16+ to join. Second, hope you brought your kink box cause this club is freaky, baby! If you are looking for some bondage based RP, look no further. The Bondage club is here.
  • Your touch - Like your girls super cute and overinflated? I know I do. Check out 'Your touch', a yuri based group for some hot one on one of group RP. Join today.

  • Malcroft Boys Academy - If you are into Yaoi and haven't checked this group out, do so. It is hot and full of awesome Yaoi based RP. In a sea of Yaoi based groups, Malcroft boys academy truly stands out.
  • Delicious Delicacies - Food. Pictures of Food. Multiple threads about the cooking and preparation of food. Hungry? Join today!
  • The Box set - A group dedicated to the discussion of anything anime. Group maintained by Sho (The Universal Sholdier), our resident anime expert. If you need a recommendation or would like to talk about your favorites with other fans, you are sure to find something that interests you here.
  • Furries United - A group for all furry lovers, what more can I say. If you are a furry, get in here, It's the place to be!
  • Iwaku community volunteers - I know this group was on the "What's new" list last week, but it is just too awesome to pass up. It already has 13 dedicated members and shows no sign of slowing! If you would like to help the community, look no further than this group!

You will find yourself at a crossroads, trying to decide if you should choose hard work or personal cultivation. While you may split your time between the two for a while, you will run yourself ragged trying to always do that. At some point, you're going to have to choose.

You might not feel at your most generous this month, but do not over criticize yourself since you're most likely the only one who sees it and is judging you for it. Try to view yourself from an outside perspective and realize that the people around you cherish you more than you may realize.

Isolating yourself can often prove tempting, but social interaction is important and there's hardly a better time with the beginning of a new year. Festivities may often make you feel uneasy but one or two rounds with revelers and friends will remind you that there are people with whom you can share your troubles.

Don't let your impatience get the better of you – remember to slow down and enjoy the things in life that bring you pleasure. If you charge recklessly on, you might damage the work that you've already done. Progress must be made, but do not be hasty.

Thinking big is often your style, but you need to pay attention to the details lest you allow something to slip through the cracks. Future goals can provide a focus, but it can be hard to sustain oneself on promises of a feast to come. Remember to feed yourself day to day as well!

If you feel the desire to spend exorbitantly this month, ask yourself if it is due to a desire to be pampered or cared for that has not been carried out. If this is the case, reaching out to a loved one or friend can prove beneficial and heal you more than an item. Everyone yeans to feel appreciated but don't expect other people to know what you need.
