Vio Selby
Vio narrowed her eyes again at the older woman, although not visible in the dimly lit street. It was one of those things she did when she was thinking, it blocks out the lights that made it hard to think. Vio was smart, or at least smarter than most people who are under the control of a Patch. She can easily tell it when people are lying, not because of intelligence, but simply due to the fact that people in Tranquility are just so bad at telling lies nearly anyone can see through them. Under the dim lights, the girls examined her teacher's expression a little more. She looked worried, as if her spacing out in front of a wall is some sort of crime.
Elisa Lowry stopped in her tracks as Vio said those words. 'They're definitely affecting her.' Vio thought silently. She can tell how these words were distracting to Ms. Lowry, it was like they were controlling her, giving her chills and panic attacks. Vio felt something odd too, she can feel her heart beating a little faster when those words came out of her mouth. She wasn't one to panic, or to be controlled, it has been a few years since she's felt her heart beating at such as pace. The teacher answered her question though, in a professional, official type of way. The Tranquility type of way.
Vio's eyes went from narrowed to closed in the middle of Elisa's lecture. Like many times in actual class. That wasn't the answer she wanted, obviously. 'Really? Perhaps you can fool a first year with that type of speech.' Vio waited patiently as her teacher's little lesson went on. Her tone was mechanical, just like when she taught the curriculum in school every day. As her speech finished she again told Vio to go home, but stayed in her spot herself. As if she is waiting for a response from her student.
"Too much time huh?" Vio said almost inaudibly.
"Well if doing this is someone having too much time and not contributing to society..." She pointed back at the alleyway with her thumb.
"...Then what does it say about someone who spent who knows how long in front of those. I'll go home now, I guess, it's not like I'm learning anything new."
Vio didn't wait in the same spot for a response, instead, she did as previously instructed. She turned away and started to walk toward the direction of her home. It was a trick of course. Her observations told her that Patched people have a hard time hiding their guilt. She did deliberately try to upset her teacher, she couldn't do anything about it without ruining her own image either. But she stopped to say one thing. Vio wanted to risk it, she wanted to risk other finding out about her Patch, to risk her whole life as she knew it. Because of one far-fetched guess that her homeroom teacher might have a Patch malfunction somewhere too.
"...Ms.Lowry, if for some reason I can't show up to your class anymore...what would you think?"
