well its official. the mighty humans have fallen to our creations. alpha go, googles go bot, has won two games so far out five against lee sedol, considered by many to be the best player of the past decade. theres still three more games to play, so humans still could retain some dignity and win the remaining 3, but given the results so far i don't think this is likely.
 
iirc, the best bot before google's required the opponent to have a 4 stone handicap to win. Did the google bot need a handicap?
If not, this is a pretty significant achievement considering the amount of shape processing required to excel at go. Go Is just one game though. Until it can be proven that the Go robot can also optimize my grocery shopping routine, this project is more a validation for their learning algorithm than anything else.
I welcome our machine overlords too, but I don't think we're quite there yet.
