Character Name: Evelyn (Elvie) Grace Anderson
Hero Name: Divinity
Villain, Hero, or Sidekick: Hero
Age: 19
Abilities: What most people don't seem to know is that all humans have, in a sense, a combined consciousness. When two people are near, the energy inside their minds form a sort of link, evolved for the quick telepathic transfer of information. Unfortunately, we never evolved the ability to read that incoming information. Each human's way of thinking is so unique that, in another person's mind, it would be absolute gibberish. So, as children, our minds learn to ignore the gibberish as a way to avoid confusion.
Elvie has gained full access to this link. This manifests itself specifically in two forms: telepathy and mental manipulation. Telepathically, she has the ability to translate the gibberish of another person's thoughts as well as translate her own into that person's language. In this way she can read their thoughts and send back her own messages, as well as sort through and read that person's memories. Mental manipulation is less a hypnotic command and more the implanting of an idea. A person will always have control over their own mind and, depending on a variety of factors, may not even notice the idea, have the idea be an implanted seed, or immediately believe the idea as if it were their own.
The most powerful use for these powers is an extreme combination of them. By analyzing a person's memories and thoughts, complex and strong ideas can be specifically tailored to their history, personality, and thought process to have maximal impact.
Appearance:
Strengths: She is very dedicated to her studies. In her first year she has about mastered the ability to read minds and communicate mentally. She's good at talking to people. She is very strongly based in her morals and will never be convinced to go to the villain side. She's also starting her training in martial arts using her telepathy to predict movements.
Weaknesses: She remains willfully ignorant on ideas that conflict with her own. For her power to be used in its full capacity, she needs to spend weeks if not months around a person exploring their mind. She isn't particularly skilled or equipped to fight, but she is working to improve it.
Likes: Jesus, peace, doing the right thing, cats, boys, gardens, jewelry, friends, the New York skyline, saving the whales
Dislikes: Satan, villainy, atheists, terrorists, winter, know-it-alls, humidity, pollution, starvation in Africa
Brief History: Elvie was born in Frisco, TX, a very conservative and rich area around Dallas. Her parents were very Christian and raised her to be the same. As she grew older, she became very concerned with the injustices around the world. As a good Christian, she could not tolerate the suffering of people and the harm being done to the earth. She went on numerous volunteer trips, and in her senior year of high school headed a project with her church to provide aid to third world countries. The motto was "We are ALL God's people."
Shortly after Elvie hit puberty, she began to experience intense migraines. The more people she was around, the more likely it was she would have one. The doctors had no explanation, and no medicine ever helped her pain. Over time her parents began to notice that she would bring up things that hadn't been spoken before. Confused, they called her specialist and asked what was happening. It was he who suggested that she may have developed the mutation. Her parents hired a tutor to train her powers enough to eliminate the headaches.
As she developed her skills, she realized that they could be used in her efforts to better the world. She could be a warrior of God, using her powers to end the suffering that so many villains caused. On the side, she could even use her manipulation to convert people to Christianity. After talking to her parents, they agreed to let her enroll in Themis after graduating high school with the intentions of becoming a hero.
((I hope it's not too late for me to join! This RP sounds like good fun. I know that mind-control is a power that is easy to god-mode, so I've given myself a ton of restrictions and sort of developed a science out of it. Don't worry about me automatically controlling minds, I will always mention my use of the power as an attempt, and it will always be up to the other player if the plant worked. Also, if I intend to use telepathy to an extreme extent, I will send a PM to the player I will be reading to get the information in advance.))
