This is a multiverse-fandom Roleplay with loose inspiration from dream-based segments of various series, or entire dream-based series themselves. Some of these inspirations have horror elements, and by extension, this RP will have such elements, but this RP itself isn't horror-themed. Although this is a side-story in the Murder Series, absolutely no prior knowledge is required. New chaps are welcome! If you're interested in the bigger picture and multiversal lore, check the Murder Series out, and maybe join in the fun in future.

11/01/2016 UPDATE: Our estimated time of initiation is sometime on 13/01/2016, within the GMT +08 timezone.

The Dreamscape, a place that held the dreams of all who thrived in every possible reality, percieved by those who have access to it as a meadow of clouds and swirls that hosted many doors, each door leading to the dream of an individual. It is an alternate dimension linked to the slumbering minds across other realms. It was once in balance, but one day, strange things happened, slowly but surely.

Imbalance, to be precise.

The number of nightmares started to outnumber the gentler, calmer dreams, at a rate more than alarming. However, that wasn't the problem. A good fraction of these nightmares were most odd - they had the ability to repaint memories, making those who have them believe that these nightmares are their true lives, and slowly, be pushed into a horrid slumber where they would be tortured in the World of Dreams forever.

In kinder words, the memories of these nightmare-induced victims have been miscoloured.

It is up to the Dreamscapers to deal with these ghoulish nightmares. Originally started by three founding members as what was supposed to be a temporarily alliance to bring balance to the increasing nightmares - Silence Dogood, Princess Luna and Nemurin - their numbers began to grow as the issues with the increasing nightmares got worse. Over time, these three guardians of dreams met other guardians of dreams.

In the past, they could do their similiar tasks individually. But as the threat increased, they discovered that teamwork was a must. The alliance grew from a trio to great faction - a faction out to bring balance back to the Dreamscape.

The Dreamscapers stand strong, and on this very day, they take rest in their headquarters(dubbed 'Nemurin's house' because that's what it is) while one of their three founding members, Nemurin, is away for a while...

"So... you're Nemurin? Don't make me laugh."

1. The usual Iwaku rules apply here

2. Characters who fulfil the below-stated conditions are allowed, but if their abilities are deemed too broken, they will have to be nerfed.

3. This Roleplay is intended to move at a semi-fast pace, and may become overwhelming. That's why it is suggested that you form a group or join a group to be your posting partners. You must use the tagging system, so nobody misses your post. That way, it will be much easier for players.

4. Posting levels do not matter, but please ensure that your posts are at least one coherent sentence long.

5. Posting at least once per round/chapter please.

6. While characters from preestablished series will be prominent in this roleplayed and is preferred, original characters will be allowed.

7. Duos (playing two characters at once) are allowed, provided they have the conditions of knowing each other.

OoMdrOq.png

The character conditions that would be preferred are characters with abilities that have to do with dreams, primarily entering them. These characters would have to preferably be heroic in nature, or at the very least, not be too antagonistic or outright evil. If you intend to play an antagonistic character, do tell me about his or her motivations and I'll decide.

Sure, having these dream-related abilities as one of their side abilities certainly work. Any exceptions to the prior stated conditions will have to be recently-rescued individuals who have just escaped a supposedly-neverending nightmare and agree to help.

All player characters(except the above stated 'exceptions') will be members of 'The Dreamscapers'. Everyone will help though. The non-Dreamscapers to Dreamscapers ratio should be 1:5 at most. If there are too many 'exceptions', well...

For those who are here from the Murder Series, there are no established or distinct 'Roles' in this Roleplay.

Dreamscapers
These are some NPCs who have worked with your character in the Dreamscapers. You've known each other for a while

KEhG7lr.png

Silence Dogood; Original Character
A Guardian of Dreams
One of the three founding members of the Dreamscapers. Her speech and tone display anger and rudeness, but her actions mean well. She has a pair of familiars - a Baku named Benjamin & an Asabikeshiinh named Franklin. Of course, those aren't their real names.

VesnFEZ.png

Princess Luna; My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
The Princess of the Night
One of three founding members of the Dreamscapers. Back in her world, Equestria, she is one of two co-rulers. She tasks herself with teaching young ones how to deal with real-life problems that have been reflected in their dreams.

dtEw7E0.png

Nemurin; Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku
Magical Girl of Dreams
One of three founding members of the Dreamscapers. Nemurin doesn't really share her past around here, which is natural since 'a magical girl never reveals her true identity'. Said to be a powerful being who has the Dreamscape at the back of her fingertips. At the start of the Roleplay, she is not present in headquarters, and has 'gone for a walk', as she puts it.
She was assigned the role of leader as the Dreamscapers started to grow beyond just 3 members, but her sleeping tendencies tend to suppress a good deal of any charisma she might have. Maybe these sleeping tendencies are precisely what makes her leader - for it makes her feel as one with the Dreamscape.
Maybe that's complete bull, maybe it isn't.

Others
You will meet these NPCs during the course of the Roleplay

Lm7VrRr.png

Snow White; Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku
Magical Girl Hunter
One of Nemurin's good friends from what she called 'the old days'. What are the old days, you might ask? How am I supposed to know?

Q1uRDGD.png

Gran; Granblue Fantasy
Skyfarer of the Grancypher
More information will be revealed during this Roleplay. Don't want to spoil the story!

Djeeta; Granblue Fantasy
Skyfarer of the Grancypher

Surprisingly balanced for a 2hu boss.

Last time I looked into dem new 2hus was when the other Crow Tengu that wasn't Aya was introduced, Hatate I think. That was like, 2010.
If it isn't overpowered enough, I could always use the ghost whose power is literally death itself. I've got you covered. There are enough 2hus to give me a lifetime supply. :bsmile:

((also pssst, doremy is one of the newest characters, and the only one related to dreams. joining this was fate))

Also, thanks! Now I have another muse for my favorite fandom, and I get to pal around with other cool kid dream characters.

Ariadne is starting to look like the most normal person here.

And she's from Inception.

We need someone to be one of the derpy kids from the NiGHTS series to balance things out.

Or NiGHTS themself, to act as the median level of dream power.

Yuyuko has nothing to do with dreams though, disqualified 0/10

If I were to remember, @Kaide` and @Gands expressed some extent of interest in this.

Due to the reduced signup rate displayed, I'm preparing to initiate the RP once the next round of Genesis begins.

Maybe I should make applications for my NPCs.

Name:
Trahearne
Gender:
Male
Age:
24

Description:
Trahearne is a rather weird one to look at. Instead of skin, he has thick and durable plantlife. Instead of a normal skeleton, his bones are reinforced bark. Instead of bleeding red, he bleeds a brilliant gold in the form of sap. His species, the Sylvari, also have an odd tendency to glow in low-light conditions. He is no exception. When in dark areas, his golden eyes let off a gentle glow, and his body is accented with a glow tinted purple. It certainly makes him stand out.

Canon:
Guild Wars 2

Personality:
Trahearne may be described as a soft-spoken but bold individual. He considers himself to be of the scholar type, more so than the warrior like the sword on his back suggests. Because much of his life has either been rife with conflict or spent in a place with no chance for interaction with other people, Trahearne has a tendency to come off as a bit... awkward. Though he is an overall kind, thoughtful and considerate person, behind his intellectual demeanor you'd find someone battling their own insecurities, doubting his own capability to lead and protect those around him. That aside, when it comes down to protecting the innocent, Trahearne is willing to fight for what must be done, even if it is at the ultimate expense of himself.

History:
Trahearne is hardly human, but instead part of a race of beings called Sylvari. His kind are not born as children in the typical way that most living beings are, but instead are awoken into life from a great, collective dream referred to formally as the "Dream of Dreams". He himself was the first of his race to awaken under the guidance and protection of The Pale Tree, whom he was given the Wyld Hunt of cleansing the land of Orr of it's corruption. He spent twenty of his twenty-four years of life on Orr, studying it's inhabitants and the corruption that plagued it.

Eventually with the help of his allies, he was able to unite the three great Orders of his world to form the Pact, which he led with the help of his loyal friend, the Commander.

With the combined efforts of the Pact, Trahearne was able to muster his courage and lead the armies to victory against the creatures of Orr and the Elder Dragon Zhaitan, casting a purification ritual that freed Orr once and for all.

With Orr cleansed and his Wyld Hunt completed, Trahearne learned of the existence of the Dreamscapers. Fearing that the common enemy they fought was the source of the growing Nightmares plaguing the Dream of Dreams, Trahearne willingly passed on the title of Marshal to the Commander, thereby offering his services to the Dreamscapers and becoming intertwined into Multiversal affairs.

Abilities:
Necromancer -
As ironic as it is for a being made of living plants, Trahearne is actually very well versed in the practice of necromancy. He is able to summon congregations of flesh into semi-autonomous weapons on the battlefield, though he prefers to not use this ability unless he absolutely has to.

Weaponry:
Caladbolg - Trahearne's iconic blade that was bestowed upon him by the Pale Tree, it is capable of magical properties and enhancing his vigor during fights. Please check the wiki for the list of what it's capable of doing.

Fears:
Failing Those That Rely On Him - He's had a lot of weight put on his shoulders throughout the years, it eventually all climaxing with him leading some of the most powerful armies into battle against insurmountable odds. Though the Commander has shown him that even the bleakest of battles can be won, Trahearne still fears failing those around him. Even more so if they were to fail by his hand.

Respected Others:
The Commander - Otherwise known as the player character in Guild Wars 2, from this particular timeline the Commander is a fellow Sylvari by the name of Shi. He and Trahearne grew close during the events leading up to the cleansing of Orr, and Trahearne considers the Commander a very close and loyal friend he can always rely on to help get the job done. There has even been some suggestions that Trahearne holds romantic attraction towards the Commander.

The Pale Tree - Known as the "Mother" to almost all Sylvari, Trahearne holds a deep respect for her. Though The Pale Tree is known to be primarily the massive tree that Sylvari call their home, The Pale Tree also manifests itself in the form of an avatar. A spiritual representation of the tree itself. Trahearne sees his Mother as a blessing, guidance in the darkest of times.

Other Information:
Trahearne secretly really likes cats. He has three of them back home, and he loves them very much.

I might join, once I figure out a character....like always, I'm torn.

Btw, if you guys can tag me when this starts that'd be great. I'm gonna un-watch the thread to clear some space in my watched threads list. lol.

Well, the round of Genesis is close to over, so I should start working on an In-character thread.

Name: Hiruko

Gender: Male

Age: Unknowm

Description:
Blonde hair and blue eyes, Hiruko is rather feminine, especially with his rather strange style of clothes. Most have more than likely mistaken him as a girl at times because of this.

Canon:
Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun

Personality:
Hiruko can come off as selfish and apathetic, not sugar coating most of the things that come out of his mouth. He wouldn't admit it, but he does care for his customers and there are times where it's shown even if it's not often.

History:
Hiruko (scroll down to biography)

Hiruko found himself getting involved with the Dreamscapers after encountering a slightly delusional customer on the verge of being sent to the Delirium, a place where fnatasies become reality, and usually don't end well. Hiruko couldn't help the customer, their nightmare to warped for the baku to do much, so as of now they were stuck in a room at the Delirium, where a couple of other recent clientel have ended up much to the baku's annoyance.

Abilities
:
Hiruko is a baku, able to eat nightmares and whenever a customer comes to him with a disturbing and/or gruesome nightmare he will enter and walk through it with them, usually helping them find the reason why their nightmares are occurring.

He can also use Formalin similar to how a Witch uses a broom to get to places faster than if he walked.

Weaponry:
He carries a cane called Formalin that he uses to collect nightmares, which he can and will use as a blunt weapon if you dare touch his briefcase that he caries almost at all times.

Fears:
He doesn't have any specific fears that are brought up so far in the manga, but I can assume that he has a fear of possibly being devoured by a nightmare.

Respected Others:

Mizuki Asahina (owner of the Silver Star Teahouse where Hiruko stays and does business)

Hifumi (a lazy rich man that stays at the teahouse and annoys Hiruko. Hiruko bullies him but I'm sure there's a small ounce of care and respect for the man at times)

Naamu (Hifumi's cat, the cat likes him and doesn't annoy him like Hifumi does)

Other Information:

-He can't eat anything other than nightmares/dreams. If he tries to eat human food, he'll cough up blood. It's happened before, and he's learned from that mistake.

-It's been shown that his physical body enters the nightmare, where in one case he purposefully fell off a building only to later get back up and tell his client that the bloodier the dream the tastier it is. The next he's seen outside of the dream however, he's covered in bandages and is lightly questioned by Mizuki on why he'd do such a thing.

-The nightmare that "consumed" the previous baku is kept inside Hiruko's briefcase and gives off a cold and eerie feeling to those that pick it up. Strangely though, Naamu could sit on it without being affected. He'd mostly bring it so Hifumi won't accidentally break it while he's gone.

-If anything needs to be changed let me know.
