**GAME STARTED**

A gripper reached out and and pressed start on the game wired into it's system.

"Rule update complete."

It's head turned 360 degrees as it searched for non-humans.

"Identify Captain Stern."

((Hot damn, that robot is fucking adorable... XD))

"I am Captain Stern." said Stern in a very plain voice. He couldn't help but smile. What Astra had done to this robot was a violation of at least five different maintanence protocols, but she may have just saved thier lives with her anauthorized tamperings. "Nice work, Teegan." he said with a slight smile.

"Ugh" Alec moaned, "Freaken finally." He turned to the group in front of him to see that the once few people had become... ummm... many. "Okay," he sighed, "All the cameras are down so this stupid death machine has no vision now." His head still ached but he desperately tried to focus on the group trying to figgure out who was who. Gripping the gun he was handed by Sam, he turned to face the captain and trying to find somewhere to put the gun without shooting his junk off. "So, what's the next move in this shit storm of delight?" once again giving an obnoxious salute.

"The way I see it, we have three options." Noel stated while shifting her gaze between her fellow survivors. "First would be to go to the control room and perform a manual override on the ship's systems. Second option would be to find somewhere to hide until we reach our destination, that's assuming that we live that long and that the bots don't find us. The third would be to sit here and wait for the rest of those damned homicidal bots to find us." She paused a moment to wipe the sweat from her forehead with her sleeve. 'Damn it! The virus is already kicking in.' she thought before continuing. "We might have Browser now and the cameras may be disabled, but the odds are still against us unfortunately. The first option seems like the best one to me. At least that way if we do succeed then we wont have to worry about the AI trying to kill us anymore. If we don't, then I'll be fine dying knowing that I had at least tried to do something instead of just sitting here and doing nothing." She crossed her arms over her chest. "That is just my opinion though. The decision is up to the rest of you."

Alec stared down at his boots, weighing up the options Noel had put forward. He knew that getting to the control room would be like trying to sail through a cyclone in a dingy but it was the only way to be sure they would get to their destination alive. "Dam it!" he muttered, "If we just wait it's certain that those bots will find us but we have the same chance of a snowball in hell as we do of getting to the control room." Alec knew that one way or the other it wasn't gonna be sunshine and vodka any more.
He sighed. "If we can stop the auto pilot from steering the ship away from the destination we can probably hide or fight it out till we get there." Alec moved his gaze away from his boots and looked to the others, hoping that one of them would have a safer idea.

"Well, it looks like we dont have that many other options. As Captain, it is usualy my responsibility to decide how we would act in a situation such as this, but Alec has the general goal in mind. It will be dangerous but I am confident that we can complete the mission at hand. We've all been through some pretty tough times, like that smuggling deal that almost got us killed or the countless skirmishes with pirates. This is no different. If we act with the safety of others in mind, we can survive this... nightmare." spoke Stern inspiringly. He often had the ability to inspire any crew that he had, including even the unenthusiastic Alec.

**CHECK FOR INCOMING !HUMANS**

Bowser ignored the conversation around it scuttlign forwards on it's six legs.

**OPEN WIFI AND SCAN ALL CHANNELS**

**DEVICE NOT FOUND**

The robot paused and re-ran its self-diagnostic.

**DIAGNOSTIC FIRMWARE CHECKSUM MISMATCH - ABORT**

"Nintendo!"

Clack clack clack clack clack clack

Metal against metal.

Clack clack clack clack clack clack

6-leg configuration... corridor 6 between medical and habitation. Right above their heads. Very feint but with his highly sensitive microphones Bowser heard it as if it were tapping against it's metal shell.

"Wave one started: difficulty easy."

His head followed the noise staring up the the metal ceiling his grippers opening and closing slowly like claws.

**COMBAT PROTOCOLS NOT FOUND**

He froze... he did not know how to fight.. in the most literal meaning of the phrase ever conceived.

If the captain's speech didn't work on anyone else, it at least worked on Teegan. She was so busy staring at him with wide-eyed admiration, she paid little mind to Bowser scuttling around doing what little robots do.

In fact, she hadn't noticed the scuttling above until it was directly over their heads and Bowser seemed to freeze in his spot. Her initial thought was that his programming froze and she'd have to pop the game out of his head to blow off all the dust. But as her eyes rose up the ceiling, just as a hatch popped out and another robot about the same shape, size and model as Bowser came dropping out, she quickly realized that wasn't the problem.

Now, if only she had stopped to remember that the other bots on the ship weren't as friendly.

"Hey look, it's another Bow-*BZZZT*-OW!" Right in mid phrase the new robot reached out a metal claw and gave her an electric shock. It was short and mild... but it seemed to be charging up for a bigger one!

Captain Stern whipped the pistol out from his track pants and aimed directly at the sentry bot. He squeezed three rounds into it's mainframe area, dropping it like a hot potato. He reholstered the pistol hurriedly. "We need to move now. And I mean NOW. The ship now knows were we are and we need to get moving this very second!"

((Does the evil ship remind anyone of GlaDoS? XD))

Noel whipped her laser rifle out from behind her as soon as the homicidal sentry bot had shocked Teegan for the first time. She would have fired had it not been for the Captain beating her to it. She let out a small sigh of relief as it fell to the ground. 'That makes two. All that's left are the other two plus Browser. God only knows where those two are though.' she thought as she put the rifle back onto her back. "The other two bots won't be far behind this one since this one probably told the AI where we are before it shut down. I would prefer not to die anytime soon, so I say we follow the Captain's suggestion and get the hell out of here before they find us."

((Now that I think about it, yes it does remind me of GlaDoS.))

**ROBOT DESTROYED**

**GAME UPDATE**

Humans are armed...

Disable human weaponry to increase chance of princess...

His head swiveled to look at Stern's Pistol then at Noel's rifle.

They could both me rendered useless in a matter of seconds but hostile action against humans might make them retaliate which would make protecting them difficult.

"Rule clarification requested."

It's six legs clanked against the the deck as it turned to face Astra.

**PRIORITY OVERRIDE: INJURY**

It's grippers reached out and grabbed Astra's leg as it zoomed in on the electricity burn. Second degree.

"Medical Bay."

Still holding on it began pulling Astra in the opposite direction as the control room towards the upper decks where the robot had just come from.

"Woah there, little guy. Administrator override! Access, Captian Tiberius Stern. Security level 5. Cease Current Action, Rule Clarification Iminent. Cancel 'Princess' Game component, Reassign 'Protection' Game component. Comply." said Stern in an authoritative voice. Hopefully, this would stop Astra being dragged away in the opposite direction of thier goal. There would be many more security bots on thier way and they would be coming FROM the Med Bay. The only other option was to reconfigure the little sucker manually and that would take to much time.

"I feel a little sparklie." What she meant to say was tingling, since the shock had given her a good buzz. But now she was hopping on one foot as Bowser latched on to her pajama pants and was tugging her away.

"Bowser." Hophop. "Bowser!" Hophophop. "Boooowser, listen to the Captain!" Hop! Astra latched on to the nearest railing sticking from a wall and held on tight. As long as Bowser didn't pull her pants off, it'd be fine.

The robot ignored Stern, he was after all not the one he was programed to listen to. It kept pulling right up until Astra spoke.

**OVERRIDE**

Game rule update and clarification...

Kidnapping by bowser does not count towards the creation of the princess.

Pending updates:

**INTERRUPT**

There was a low hum from inside his chassis and his gripper released the leg and he turned around looking down the corridor.

Time to retrieve burn cream and bandage: 1m 15s Unacceptable delay

He turned back around and as any game protagonist would do, assumed leadership of the party and a gesturing to the humans to fall in line went though the priority list.

Keep humans safe.

The safest place on the ship was the control room, it was also where the computer had the most influence but Bowser but off from the network had no way to know the computer was even following quarantine procedure. The hostile robots were after all part of a game.

"Get to the castle."

Scuttling ahead it kept it's cameras ahead and listened for movement.

"Movement phase."

Stern motioned to the others to follow Bowser and to keep a low profile. If anyone knew the inside of this ship better then Stern, then it was Bowser. "Bowser, activate motion and life scanners to a 25 metre radius, please. Display human movement as friendly." asked Stern, seeing as how the bot would now be a lot more likely to listen to Stern now that Astra had given him the command. They had to get to the contol room as swiftly as possible to switch from AI to Manual control. It wouldn't be long before the AI figured out that there were still live hostd for the disease on board and when it did, it would take the procedures necessary to eliminate the hosts.

Motion and life sensors....

Bowser was a utility robot. For sensors he relied in the ship's own and a continuous connection to the ship's computer to access them...

**UNABLE TO ESTABLISH DATA LINK**

Protocol violation: Follow directives of Captain Stern.

Working probable solution.

**UNABLE TO COMPLY WITH GAME RULES**

New directive: Cheat

Every light on the robot lit up bathing the corridor in bright light. Maybe that would fool stern into thinking some sort of scanner was on. Bowsers head also rotated like a radar dish as he scuttled along... right until he walked into the wall, reversed almost stepping on stern's foot and then carried on down the corridor his head once again stationary but sonar-like beeping coming from inside his body.... this had better wort or Bowser would have to suffer something he couldn't bare. Ashra's disappointment... and a possible GAME OVER.

Now that they were on the move and had a plan, Astra followed. MAN it was getting hot. Which had to be the fever, as the ship's climate control was starting to drop. With the ship's desire to purge all contaminants, humans included, turning off the climate and letting the temperatures drop would he a great way to do it. Astra vaguely wondering if they'd run out of oxygen too... but that was a startling thought she decided to quit thinking about immediately!

"How did we even get a leak, anyway. Don't them cargo guys know how to load a box?" Astra muttered, wiping her forehead and face with the sleeve of her pajamas. She looked really confused when spotting drops of blood on the fabric. Astra pressed her fingers to her nose quickly.

"Blech...! Wait, brains don't spill out through our noses do they, cause I think I might pass out!"

"It must have been a manufacturing error in the bomb casing. And no, brain spillage happens through the ears as it becomes reduced to a slimy mush, silly... Just kidding! No, sporadic nosebleeds are quite normal in this situation anyway." said Stern with a huge grin on his face. He looked at Bowser who was doing a very eleborate impression of a sattelite light show. "Wow... that seems to be a rather over-elaborate scanning process you have there, Bowser..." said Stern doubtful that the maintainence bot was even scanning at all. "Think you could tone it down a notch so that we don't get discovered, little buddy?" he said kindly to Bowser, hoping that he would stop being so darn recognisable.

So the captain was fooled! Excellent! Bowser stopped the beeping but kept the lights on. Now all he needed to do was noting the next eave before the humans and his illusion would be complete!

**PRIORITY ALARM**

Two robots of the exact same model as Bowser were at the end of the corridor and the lights on Bowser's chassis faded to black as the game was overridden by a much more urgent subroutine.

**SPARE PARTS DETECTED**

Bowser was damaged... his internals were in disarray from the modifications done to him.

**COMMENCE SELF REPAIR**

If robots could growl Bowser did so at he rushed forwards with a singular purpose his grippers snapping open and shut as he barreled down the corridor at the still assembled and moving 'spare parts'.

The first was intent on the humans and didn't realize the rogue droid was a threat until it had It's hydraulic manifold torn fro it's chassis and it's minbs like all strength leaving it a weakly twitching pile of metal... still intent on murder bit left unable to move.

The second had it's rear panel torn off and it's battery torn out so Bowser could get it's circuits out and identify that ones that were missing from his own systems.

**PARTS FOUND REPAIR BEGINNING.**

**UNABLE TO LINK WITH MAINFRAME.... REPLACING WLAN HARDWARE........**

"Wow... those security droids just got absolutely masticated... almost literaly... with his pinchy arms of doom..." said Stern in amazement as he watched Bowser tear the security bots to absolute pieces. And then a deeper truth hit him. A truth that made his stomach sink at the mere thought and that chilled his spine to the core. An epiphany that rose within him that revealed itself to him as plain as daylight.

Those security bots...

Had cost him a damn fortune to purchase...

"Shit..." he said under his breath.
