Charming

He dismissed her. Unfortunately, for her, she could think of nothing to say. So she closed her eyes and curled up in the blanket he had given her. She didn't think that she would actually sleep but before she knew it she was dozing off as she listened to the rhythm of his breathing. Her head kept nuzzling against him as she unconsciously marked him with her scent. As she slept she slowly snuggled closer to him moving her body up his. Eventually her back was against the door, her legs were curled up on his lap as her feet rubbed against his legs. Her hands were curled into his shirt and her head was cuddled into his neck.

She dreamed of fruit covered in honey. She had taken a bite of a peach, it was warm as pie and just as sweet. When she pulled it away from her mouth it was covered in blood. The metallic taste of it filled her mouth as she spit it out she heard a snap and a dozen stings scrape across her back. She whimpered as her body recoiled and fell to the floor. The tears stung her eyes as she pleaded for it to just stop. Devyn knew it would never stop and she did not know what to do. Then there was a loud popping noise and her body jumped and shook as she finally woke up.

Her head hit the window as she looked at Hiroto. Her eyes were wide and the felt wet. She wondered if the tears from her dream had carried over. Her breathing was a little heavy and she was still shaking from her dream. She looked down as she released her hands from his shirt, clutching the blanket instead. Staying in his lap she didn't say anything, nor did she move. She wondered what he would have to say and how long she was asleep for.

Somehow, that girl had managed to squirm her way into a different, more intimate position. Hiroto would have been extremely annoyed if it weren't for the fact that the damn woman kept nuzzling his neck and wiggling her rear. Although he took pride in his superior abilities to reason, problem solve, and strategize, it was difficult to think with his mind when his groin had the louder voice.

"Well isn't she friendly?" chuckled the bodyguard sitting beside him. More like a pup having a bad dream, Hiroto thought as he stared ahead at the road. They had arrived at a small town and now the driver was searching for a mall of some kind. Hiroto thought about waking Devyn and asking her if she knew the town well enough but decided against it. If she could sleep for a little while longer, that would be better. However, as they pulled into the parkinglot of a walmart, she suddenly woke with a jolt and he quickly moved to grip her wrists incase she attacked. Dogs were often dangerous when they had bad dreams.

When it was apparent that she was calming down, he released her wrists and instead cupped her cheeks, brushing away her tears with his thumbs. For a moment, he simply gazed into her eyes, studying her with his dark orbs. Then, his lips parted as he spoke softly. "Strengthen your heart or it will torment you forever."

"Come on now, girly," the bodyguard said, taking Devyn's arm and gently tugging her off of Hiroto's lap.

"Wait here. I won't be long," Hiroto ordered as he pushed open the door and climbed out. His men looked as though they'd argue the idea but a warning look from the young master shut them up fairly quickly. "I can take care of myself. Besides, you'll draw attention, being naked and all." The corner of his mouth twitched upward, hinting a grin before he shut the door and strolled away, hands in his pockets.

"Well... He's in a good mood," one of the men mumbled, the other two snickering.

Devyn didn't twitch, or look up, when he wiped the tears from her eyes. Did he really know what strength of the heart was? The world was not black and gray, she knew that, but she mildly wondered if her did. She was pulled from her thoughts as a new set of hands touched her. He was gentle about it so she was not rude about it as she removed herself from his grasp. She watched him ward off his protectors in two sentences.

"How will you explain the blood on your clothes?" She had asked just before he shut the door, but she knew that he heard her. She shrugged as she looked at the other men in the vehicle. "Is this his whole pack?" She had asked trying to get more of a feel for the people around her, she assumed that they would be together for a while.

"Why were those hunters after you?" She didn't understand why wolves would hunt their own kind. It was something that she hadn't really heard of. Well there was a lot of pack life that she had never really heard of. She shivered a little and wrapped the blanket tighter around her. She had been taken from her pack at a young age by some hunters, who thought they could train her. Since she escaped she lived a really low key life, but she knew some tricks. almost as an after thought she asked, "What do you mean he's in a good mood?"

"The whole pack...?" the driver repeated, a look of surprise on his gentle face. He was probably to most comfortable of the three to be around, regardless of his rather tall height and strong build. A gentle giant of a sorts with wavy brown hair and a silver gray gaze. The other two men sighed and shook their heads with slight amusement. "You really don't know anything about our world, do you?"

"She's a wanderer. They rarely do, Keishou," said the man beside Devyn. He was average height and build with light skin and wild blonde hair. His green eyes however were piercing, as if he'd seen many hardships and had little love left to give from a heart that was thoroughly frosty. "The Ogata Clan may not be the largest, but it definitely has more than four members. Use your head, girly."

The man in the front passenger seat rolled his eyes and gave the woman a toothy smile. He was small in build, almost as small as Devyn herself. He looked young, his skin flawless and tanned, his golden brown eyes only one of the features on his very beautiful face. His hair was long and silky black, drawn back into a ponytail, leaving his bangs hanging into his eyes. "What Garou is trying to say is that this 'curse' of ours has been passed down from generation to generation. There's thousands of us. Though... Maybe less now because of what the young master has done..."

"Shut up, Akuma. He did what no one else would have the guts to do in his position," Garou grumbled, turning his gaze out his window as if the conversation suddenly annoyed him.

In the front seat, Keishou and Akuma glanced at each other and frowned but said nothing more. When Devyn's next question came, it was Keishou who answered. "The young master killed the Mihal princess..."

Akuma snickered and licked his lips. "He didn't just kill the second most powerful and oldest clan's princess," he purred, shifting in his seat to better face Devyn. "The council of clan leaders gather often to discuss matters like war and peace. Mihal demanded the young master marry their princess so that our clans could be allies." Here, Akuma sneered and laughed with disgust. "They just wanted to put the Ogata on a leash. The young master saw through this little ploy of theirs of course. His reaction was so beautiful... I can still picture it perfectly in my mind~" He breathed another sigh, bliss smeared across his face as he let his head fall back on his shoulders. "He's more of a demon than I am, our lovely young master."

"Cream your jeans, why don't you," Garou grumbled, still staring out the window. "Long story short, Devyn, Master Hiroto ripped the princess' heart out with his bare hand, right in front of the council and then said 'I will be no one's lap dog,' and walked away. After the shock wore off, the council went into a frenzy of rage and has probably sent a shitload of people after the young master. They want his head, but he's happy because his life is exciting again and his clan completely approves of his actions. Hierarchy and honor are priorities among werewolves. Being the Alpha clan is the ultimate goal."

"What I mean is that there are thousands of you, yet here you are protecting one man, for killing princess something or other. My question is, how many others are protecting him? While you sit here driving and fighting with hunters, how many of your clan are actually there for you and how many stayed and kept going as though nothing happened because it didn't effect them?" She had a little bite to her words. True, she may have not known very much about the wolves but she did not need to be looked at like she was an idiot.

There was a lot of information that she took in about Hiroto. She understood that he needed to make a point and it the animal kingdom you did that by killing or maiming. So he was more animal than man, but that was how he was raised. Who was she to judge? It was not what she would have done in the situation, yet then again she did not know what she would have done. She has done what she needed to do before and she still didn't know if that was necessary. Devyn bit her lip as she leaned against the door.

She was sticky with the dried blood on her and could feel the blanket sticking to her. She hoped for a shower before she got dressed, she didn't think that would happen. She slipped her legs and feet back underneath the blanket as she stayed in a little ball against the door. "And you never answered my question."

What didn't she understand about it? Garou sighed and ignored Devyn, casting a look at the other two, silently telling them to do the same. It was too much of a hassle to explain the fundamentals of wolf clan war to someone who might as well have been human. She obviously didn't have a wolf mentality.

Suddenly the door Devyn was leaning against opened, though Hiroto was quick to drop his shopping bags and catch her before she could fall far. "What question?" he asked, a glint of amusement in his eyes as he looked down at her for a moment. Then he helped her sit back up and tossed the shopping bags at Garou before sliding back into the backseat of the car.

Garou dug through the bags until he found some body wipes and handed the container to Devyn since she was the one most covered in blood. Meanwhile, he tossed clothes at the other two men up front, handing Hiroto a bundle of blue material. "I wasn't sure about your size... I hope it fits," the young master mumbled, unfolding the material to reveal a lovely summer dress.

Her eyes light with a fire as they tried to ignore her. Just as she was about to open her mouth and say something a small squeak escaped her lips as she fell backwards only to be caught by Hiroto. Something about the look in his eyes caused her to blush a little. As he helped her to sit back up she scooted over. She smiled as she was handed the wipes, it was not a shower but she was grateful none the less. She took the dress her hands brushing his. Devyn smiled at him as she took the dress in her hands. She couldn't keep the blanket on and cleaning herself, she kept her eyes on the container full of wipes as she let the blanket go and fall from her upper torso.

The bullet on her shoulder had healed the same was all all silver inflicted wounds did, ragged with a mound of scar tissue. She gently rubbed the cleaning wipes over her skin cleaning as much blood off of her as she could. She had tried to not use too many as she was not the only one that had blood on her. Her body seemed to glow white with the amount of scar tissue over her. Even though she was no stranger to silver it still her like hell. There was nothing on that planet that measured up to that kind of physical pain.

She handed the wipes to the next person as she reached for the dress. Something about it made Devyn smile, her hands moved over the soft material. She pulled the dress over her head. It was a little small around her chest but the material was light and flowy, so it didn't matter too much it was only a little clingy. The straps crossed over her back giving her just enough lift to make up for not having a bra. She scooted a little smoothing the dress over her body. Devyn smiled up at him, she was so god damn happy after everything. Who knew something so small could hold that much of an effect on someone. "Thank you, Hiroto."

It was nearly impossible to keep his eyes off of her. Yes, Devyn was beautiful but Hiroto was far more interested in the scars she wore on her upper half as evidence that she'd been mistreated at some point in her life. Now that he'd decided to take her into his clan, Hiroto felt the stinging of anger in his chest, though he kept his temper in check nevertheless. There was nothing he could do about it right now.

Turning away when he realized he was staring, he busied himself with tugging off his jacket in what little space he had, cramped in the backseat of the vehicle with two other people. He loosened his tie and slipped it over his head, tossing it into the back with his jacket. After he'd pulled his shirt out from his pants and rolled up the sleeves, he ran a hand through his hair and sighed.

"Keishou," he said softly, his gaze moving up to the rearview mirror. "Head east into the city." It was risky because there would be more spies on the lookout, but there would also be more allies and places to hide safely for at least a day or two while he fleshed out the plan swirling around his mind.

"Thank you, Hiroto."

Turning his attention back to Devyn, he was stunned stupid! Hiroto forgot how to breathe, let alone speak. It could have been the dress and how it drew his gaze directly to her chest. Or perhaps it was the way she was looking at him that had him tongue-tied for the briefest of moments. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Akuma and Garou cringe at the bare use of his name, though he only smiled gently at Devyn... Well, at her breasts since he couldn't seem to tear his gaze away. "No need to thank me," he muttered. Funny how he was completely fine with seeing her naked but the moment she was covered she became irresistable, showing just enough skin to taunt yet not quite give it all way. He'd have to be careful when they reached the city. Men would stare and draw attention the same way women were bound to stare at his pretty face.

As the car pulled out of the parkinglot, Hiroto settled back in his seat, finally feeling the full weight of two days without a decent meal. Dizziness overtook him and he let his eyes slip shut, head rolling back against the seat. He felt warm and exhausted, though if he could sleep a little during the drive, he figured he'd be alright soon enough.

When he looked back at her his gauze flew to her chest. Her heart beat increased and a blush grew to her cheeks. She didn't normally wear clothes that showed this much skin and his look seemed almost hungry. Devyn had noticed that everyone cringed at the use of his name, however she would never call anyone master. He was a person and she would treat him as such. She was not a pack wolf and he was not her master.

Devyn licked her lips as she pushed her unruly hair to the side exposing her neck, as she leaned back on the seat. Her face made her look like a ghoul with all her makeup running. There were no wipes left but that was ok, at least they were not covered in blood anymore. She would have to finish cleaning herself up when they stopped at a bathroom, they would need gas after all.

Devyn looked at Hiroto when he closed his eyes, he looked a little pale, she wondered if he was feeling alright. She was not going to pester him with those nosy questions. Everyone seemed to be a little worse for ware, how long had they been on the run? She moved her eyes to her lap as she started fidgeting with her nails.

When he made a turn as they were going into the city she looked out the window and her heart started pounding. Her eyes grew wide and her body tensed. Something about this city made her uneasy. She really avoided cities they always did this to her, but something about this one made her even more uneasy. She shifted closer to Hiroto her legs pressing against his, subconsciously needing the physical reassurance. She tried her best to not disturb him from his sleep he seemed like he needed it.

She felt like a caged animal on the inside needing to run away, but on the outside she was calm accept for her eyes. None of the other men seemed to pay her much notice as she was too much like a child for them anyway, which was fine by her. He made another turn and her small hand went for Hirotos. She could do this, it was fine. Devyn schooled her breathing with the help of the stolen warmth of Hirotos hand. It was shaking slightly, but not enough to notice it as anything other then from the movements of the car. She closed her eyes, maybe if she didn't look it might help.

Devyn knew she would not fall asleep but she still forced her body to relax. She still held Hirotos hand and her leg was still pressed against his. Devyn hoped that she did not disturb his rest. She was acting like a child and did not want to be clingy but something about his beast called to hers and it really did help her calm down, a little. Hopefully when she opened her eyes next she would be able to deal with the city.

It had seemed like he'd only just fallen asleep when he felt a hand grab his. Without opening his eyes, Hiroto woke and became aware of his surroundings and that it was Devyn's hand gripping his as if he were protecting her somehow just by that small physical contact. She seemed tense, and judging by the sounds of traffic, they must have already reached the city. Did this busy, crowded place bother her? She certainly both felt and smelled nervous about being here...

Gently pulling his hand away from her's, Hiroto shifted, wrapping his arm around Devyn and drawing her close. Eyes still closed, head still rolled back against the seat, his fingertips caressed the crook of her neck and toyed with her hair in an attempt to calm her down a little. "If it's big cities in general that you don't like, you wouldn't enjoy my home. My birthplace, yes, but not where I live now." If they managed to survive this blood fued, Hiroto planned to take Devyn with him back to Japan. He had a vision, an image of him at the head of the council, the other clans at his disposal, and Devyn by his side. She was perfect for him; stubborn, beautiful, and perhaps she could become his voice of reason. Keishou had always claimed the young master was too brash.

Mind off on a tangent once more, it was the car door being opened by Garou that had Hiroto realize that they had arrrived at the hotel. It was a human hotel, because there were bound to be eyes on any and all clan-owned locations. Sliding out of the car, Hiroto stretched and yawned, then scratched behind his ear absent-mindedly as he let his eyes adjust to the sunlight. They waited while Keishou unloaded a single suitcase from the trunk of a the car and unzipped it to reveal and unnatural amount of money. Hiroto stepped forward and grabbed a stack of twenties, tossing it to Akuma. "Clothes," he ordered. He took another stack of twenties and tossed it to Keishou. "Food." Then he picked up a stack of fifties, took half and gave Garou the rest. "Rooms." As the three subordinates headed off in different directions, Hiroto pocketed his half of the fifties and zipped the suitcase back up. He popped the handle and towed it behind him as he took Devyn's hand and started off in the direction of the hotel.

"Keishou chose a good location." Garou nodded his response as he inspected Hiroto's room. When he was satisfied that it was free of spies, wires, and spells, he bowed, then left for the other room although he gave Devyn one last glance of annoyance before closing the door behind him. Hiroto chuckled, amused by how much that man distrusted Devyn. "Over protective..." he sighed and turned his attention to Devyn. "You can shower first." After all, it was just his clothes that were dirty and he could live with that for now.

Devyn felt her heart sink when he pulled his hand from hers. She held her breath for a moment trying to calm herself, when he wrapped his arm around her she wasted no time in burying her face into his neck and letting her breath out slowly. She closed her eyes while the tension eased out of her, slowly. She didn't say anything, she didn't need to give the others anything more to use against her. She lightly pressed her lips against his neck as her quiet thanks to him.

When they pulled up to the hotel, the amount of people made her nervous, but what a better way to hide then in plain sight. She moved out of the way when they all headed to the trunk. Hiroto barked out orders and they scampered off to do his bidding. She made her way to a booth that had flowers and small little knickknacks. She leaned over as she saw a necklace with what looked like a compass rose made out of pewter and her hair fell over her shoulder exposing her back a little. Devyn cringed when she heard a small gasp from behind her and a few people whispering. Their eyes felt like small daggers digging into her back. She wasted little time straightening back up and pushing her hair back. Now that they had seen her back it was like a beacon had lit on the rest of her exposed skin. They noticed the small ones on her legs and arms, she felt like a walking freak show.

One of them had started to say something to her, before they could even get the sound out of their mouth she had made her way back to Hiroto and he had hold of her hand as he lead the way with his suitcase. Devyn mildly wondered why he bought clothes if he had some, but remembered that he was not the one that needed some. She stayed quiet while Garou inspected the room. She stood there staring him back down, as he glared at her, resisting the urge to growl at him.

When Hiroto mentioned the shower she turned to face him. "I'm not fond of big cities, but it's something about here that makes me.. edgy." She sighed softly and shrugged. "I suppose that is just how things go, sometimes." She moved her hands behind her back as she bit her lip looking at him, concern crossing her face. He looked pale with dark rings under his eyes. She moved closer to him putting the back of her hand lightly on his cheek, like she was checking for a fever. "Why don't you go ahead and get in the shower first you look like... well hell."

Although he couldn't feel the same, Hiroto could understand how the big city, with its never ending supply of eyes, could make some feel 'edgy'. Hiroto wasn't quite that worrisome. He was bolder, walking with his chin up, unafraid of what might lurk around the corner. Perhaps he was over confident but he never felt so.

The moment Devyn's hand touched his cheek, he closed his eyes and tilted his head to press closer to that gentle touch. He smiled at her words though and rose a hand to cover hers. He could tell she was a little worried about his state of health and he needed to reassure her so that she could relax a little. "I'll be fine..." he murmured, moving his mouth down to her wrist. "Once I've had something to eat." As he spoke, his bottom lip brushed against the skin of her wrist, teeth parted as if he were considering stealing a bite... Then he pulled away completely, undoing the buttons to his shirt as he moved toward the bathroom. "I won't be long."

The hot water felt like a God-given gift after going more days without a shower than he cared to admit. He made use of the complimentary shampoo and soap and though he wanted to stay there and soak forever, he finished up quickly, wrapping his lower half with a towel. He left the bathroom, lazily drying his hair with a second towel, gaze catching the open door between this room and the next. He could already smell Akuma's scent and followed it into the other room.

"Boss~ Catch!" Hiroto draped the hair towel over his shoulder and caught the shopping bag Akuma tossed at him. "I hope those are okay? I figured suits would make us stand out too much so..."

"It's fine," Hiroto muttered and turned back to change in the bathroom. When he emerged again, he looked a little less tired. Running a hand through his hair, he gestured at Devyn with the other hand. "Shower's free."

He looked so defeated, like he was moving on a sheer force of will alone, even his talking seemed a little lacking. But still his touch caused her mouth to go dry and made Devyn's heart threaten to leap out of her throat. She could feel her skin tingling underneath his lips. What was it about this infuriating, bossy, know it all that made her absolutely out of her damn mind. Devyn knew better then to get into a situation like this, he did after all make it perfectly clear that the belonged to his pack, thus belonging to him.. Well, surely she was just over exaggerating and he really didn't have any personal claim to her.

She sat down in the middle of the floor as an attempt to not get any of the furniture dirty as she waited for her turn in the shower. When Akuma had returned he was in the next room going for the clothes that he just bought. She snuck a peak in on his bounty of clothes for a moment, but didn't see anything for her, so she didn't say anything. Hiroto had just bought her a new dress after all, so she was not about to complain. Choosing to explore her room she padded quietly over the carpet and investigated. It was spacious, she only noticed one bed.. Maybe one of them had another room and they were just in here until everyone got back and everything was settled.

When Hiroto came out of the bathroom her attention snapped to him and her mouth went dry again. She couldn't stop staring at the water slowly dripping down his skin. Her eyes were wide as she could do nothing more then stare at him. Devyn had no idea what was wrong with her and why she kept reacting to him the way that she did. It was maddening to her and she had not reason to act this way. She almost ran into the bathroom when he said it was ready for her and practically slammed the door behind her.

Leaning against the door she sighed breathing in the warm misty air of the bathroom and freshly used shower. All Devyn could think about is what the hell was wrong with her. Maybe she should leave. Hiroto seem more dangerous to her then just physically. Shaking her head she slid out of her dress and set it on the counter.

The shower was warm and more welcoming then anything then she could have asked for. Her hair was stained with blood and there was not all that much shampoo left. Hotels never gave you enough of anything. After she cleaned herself up Devyn sat sown in the shower, with her face up to the water. She had only intended to sit there for a few moments but that was all it took for her to doze off. A small amount of time later she woke up just in time to stop her face from meeting the porcelain of the tub. She turned off the water and dried herself off.

She put her little blue dress back on and smiled. There was something about this dress that she really did like. She dried her hair off a little bit before she left the bathroom. She had wondered if any of the others had made it back yet. they weren't really nice to her, so Devyn had no idea why she even bothered wondering about them. Perhaps there were some things that she would never learn, like not caring.

After the bathroom door had slammed shut, Hiroto turned a curious look on Akuma, cocking an eyebrow. He instantly received a terrified look from the man. "I didn't say anything, I swear! I don't know what her problem is!" Satisfied, Hiroto turned to Garou, who only shrugged and flopped backwards onto his bed, returning his attention to the tv. The young clan leader cast a glanced over his shoulder at the bathroom door and sighed softly as he moved further into the room to sit beside Akuma and stare mindlessly at the tv while he waited. A couple of times he would glance over and frown at the clothes Akuma was separating until the man finally caught on to what was annoying his master. Without a word, Akuma got to his feet and slipped on his shoes and jacket, then left.

Soon, Keishou returned with the food and set to work portioning it while he told Garou about his little adventure. "Took me forever to find a Japanese restaurant," Hiroto heard Keishou say with a sigh, though he could tell just from the man's tone that he was also smiling in victory. At that point, the divine smell of meat, cooked rare, snared his senses and made his mouth water but his attention was diverted when Akuma returned. Getting to his feet, Hiroto took the bag from Akuma's hands and moved back to the other room. He set it down on the bed, but not before inspecting the contents first, satisfied with the necessities and clothes within. Among the items was another dress, jeans, a few shirts and undergarments. Really, why hadn't Akuma gotten these on the first trip? Hiroto could only assume it was out of jealousy and the thought made him roll his eyes and sigh.

The sound of the bathroom door opening admittedly made his heartbeat quicken, and he couldn't help but turn his gaze directly to Devyn as she emerged. She looked happier for some reason, perhaps because she was clean now, Hiroto thought. He'd certainly felt better after his own shower. "The food is here," he spoke up, slipping his hands into his pockets. "And these are yours," he added, nodding his head at the bag on the bed. "Let me know if there is anything else you need. Anything at all."

Though he'd intended to leave the room and let her change clothes, he couldn't quite bring himself to tear his gaze away from her. Her hair was wet and messy, she wasn't wearing the slightest of makeup, she looked tired... And yet she was still so beautiful that it almost pained him to look at her. His chest would grow tight, making it difficult to breathe let alone speak. He'd never felt attraction quite like this and it was leaving him a little stupid.

Hiroto was a very nice man, mildly frightening, but still nice. Devyn had no idea how she wound up in his care or for that matter why he cared. It hadn't been all that long since he took her, but it still felt like it was such a long time ago. Maybe her sense of time was distorted with her lack of sleep. Car sleep was not the best. It didn't help that every time she had fallen asleep she woke up in his arms. She knew his scent, it would be one that she could pick out anywhere. She didn't even smell like herself, it was some alluring mixture of the two of them. She had never really heard of a thing. She had picked up the bag from the bed with the intention of going to the bathroom to change, but when she turned around she was frozen to the spot.

He was staring at her.. Had she dome something that offended the great master? She was always quick to change her tune about the ones that were natural predators. You never really knew who to trust. Devyn had opened her mouth to ask him that, but there was something about him staring made her blush. She stood there with her heart pounding, waiting. What was that look about? Was it time to leave again? Was he leaving without her? Why did the thought of that terrify her? She was trapped, she couldn't stop staring back at him. She needed to ground herself and quickly at that. Perhaps they should split ways, it might just be better for her sanity, but something about him made her hesitate on the though. She could feel the wolf in her crying out at the thought of it.

Devyn took half a step closer to him and her mouth went dry. Why the hell was she acting like this? She had made a movement for his hand, but it was tucked away in his pockets so she laid it on his chest. Right over his heart, she smiled when she felt it beating beneath her hand. "Thank you, Hiroto. Y..you.." she stuttered as she still held eye contact with him. Something about this made her feel weak in the knees, but she would not be defeated or hurt. "You really don't have to do this for me. Are you sure that you want to do this? You have enough problems to worry about already, I don't want to burden you by stacking mine on top of it." She gave him a choice, not quite what she was going for but she would not change what she said now. She licked her lips as she stared up at him, her thumb moved from side to side as she spoke to him and waited.

The closer she drew, the weaker he felt. What the hell was this?! Heart pounding against his ribcage so hard he thought it just might tear its way right out of his chest, it was a miracle he remained calm on the surface. Hiroto's face as a whole might not have said much but the look in his eyes clearly betrayed his thoughts. That dark gaze of his was alive with fire, not from anger, but something more primal. Something simple and animalistic. And though "desire" was an old friend of his, the level, the intensity of his need was something else. Never had his hands itched so much to touch with tenderness. He could feel her pulse through her hand as it beat in rhythm with his heart as he stood there painfully aware of how intoxicating her scent was, or at least whatever of it wasn't masked by his own. How appealing it was, the idea of finishing the job.

Of making her completely his.

When she spoke, the corner of his mouth twitched with the ghost of a smile, vanishing just as quickly as it'd come. "All of my problems are self-inflicted," he muttered, his voice escaping his lips in a soft and deep tone. "If you were even considered a problem..." He paused, lowering his gaze from her eyes to such lovely, inviting lips. "You would have to be the least bothersome one," he finished. If anything, he was being her problem by bringing her with him. It was a selfish act on his part, one he wouldn't have changed should he be given the chance. He took what he wanted. And at that point, he knew exactly what he wanted as he watched Devyn lick her lips, very aware of her simple act of caressing.

Slowly, he slipped his hands from his pockets, moving his gaze back up to her eyes to hold her captive. Not that he needed to, what with the way she was gazing back. One hand moved at a leisurely pace, taking the bag from Devyn's hand and dropping it to the floor. The other hand found its way onto her hip as he took two small steps forward, one per foot, moving fluidly, slowly, like a feline stalking its prey.
