"Keep your food." The kelpie replied nonchalantly, "I don't need it. I have my own, and if I didn't, I would not be giving you any. That is how it works, after all." She then walked to the door, smoothing out her dress "I'll be back soon. It's best if you stay here; I wouldn't want you drowning, after all. One close incident was enough, we hardly need more, do we?"

In all honesty, she didn't have a supply. She just could catch fish more easily, since she was, after all, a predator in the water. That was exactly why she did not want the girl to follow. If she saw Sorcha doing her fishing, the kelpie had no doubts that she would do something rather irrational, like run away. She couldn't be having that, could she? Not after all this work she had done to keep the human healthy and content.
