Ophelia was born meant to lead an empire. With a crown of gold on her head and a golden spoon in her mouth there was nothing that stood in her way of a smooth ascension. The wealth of her family was long since established and there was nothing Ophelia truly had to do, but to expand it. However an established status quo and property management was too boring. The thought that nothing that she held in hands was ever established by herself and done by herself bored her even more. She needed to be more than just a pretty face and thus Vanir Investments came to exist. Funding startups, gambling with stocks, Ophelia started a much riskier business.

Known as a bit of a gambler and a risk-taker Ophelia is the beauty of the Leavit empire, one of the richest families in the country. Some would describe her as the sun, unreachable and not to be looked at. Others would describe her as the air, refreshing, young, and uncatchable. Whatever the case, there are few who Ophelia finds worth the time and the presence to maintain surrounding her, which says more about her attitude towards life than anything.

Full Name: Philibert Merckx

"He needs clean air, and lots of it," the doctor had said, "else he should die," the claim ended, sending the young couple Merckx into a frenzy when they carried their only son in arms. The depths of the Undercity wasn't known for its great quality of air after all, and the thought of their only son dying for the lack of it was a hard reality to face. It was the start of a frantic search to many alternatives, the Undercity, despite its dire circumstances, allowing for much room for creativity.

'Greenhouse kid' they were soon to call him, for he was always stuck in a glass house surrounded by plants that were said to purify the air. 'Greenhouse' kid if they knew about his existence at all, for Philibert was raised carefully, hidden away from the eyes of the rest while his parents continued to search and steal from Piltover itself, hoping to find something that could help the Undercity become a safer space for their son. A search that had never stopped within the Undercity itself, where the people had just learnt to breathe. These were the dull beginnings of Philibert whose only solace was to contribute to the search for clean air so that one day he could walk outside.

But as with most of the Undercity life was tough, and short for many. When a day came that neither parent returned, Philibert knew that he had to go out of his greenhouse if he wished to survive. A terribly jarring change at first, to which the male thought he was surely to die rather than a lack of air. It was by the grace of a bluebird medaillon and a wind spirit watching over Zaun named; Janna that Philibert survived at all, restarting and continuing the greenhouses his parents had once started for him an endeavour that Philibert, going by 'Flip' now, found himself lacking in knowledge.

With the help of a few clever investments and seeking out some patrons Philibert entered himself into the Academy as a student.

Ideas

◉ As a (newly introduced) barrister he meets a lot of cases and has to present a decent amount of cases to court. Perhaps he ever presented something for your character? Such as a divorce case (which were complicated back then and a political affair), a criminal charge, libel case, or perhaps a ton case in which a missus got pregnant before marriage?
◉ A return to his university days where he attended his courses next to his landed peers of the gentry, having to envy their good fortune for their smooth sailings, leading up to the many hours that eventually led to his success.
◉ A step into Garaile's childhood, as the half-blood of a Frenchman as the country is at war and his family still trying to make their fortune.

Dog down the underdog and it bites

It started as a means to survive, then it became a cluster of outcasts coming together and calling each other family until an economy started that even the bravest and most upright didn't dare to challenge. The Syndicate the folks call it, despite the lack of an official name for the walled city and lack of official recognition other than the declaration of being ungovernable. A de jure area in which only the most ingenious with a hint of ruthlessness can survive.
