Signup Thread: OPEN SIGNUPS - A Strange Eon: The Bureau of Inhuman Affairs

Standard CoD chargen in effect. If you don't know what that means, PM me.
Everyone receives the Professional Training Merit at 2 dots for free. The tagged skills by role are:

Agent: Investigation and Empathy
Analyst: Occult and Academics
Metaphysicst: Occult and Empathy

Also, the following custom Merits are available. You get the first dot of Attunement for free.

Attunement 1 to 5 dots, character creation only.
Everyone has the moments; the proverbial goose stepping over your grave, the sense of being in a dream when you know you're awake, the irrational conviction something is watching you from the dark. Some people, however, are more affected by the energies of the Dreamland - and that relationship is reciprocal. Attunement allows you to perceive hidden and alien things more easily, but it can also make it easier for them to see and affect you. It is also vital for using esoteric sciences.

Quantum Entanglement, pre-reqs Occult 3, Willpower 2
Known colloquially as sympathetic magic, this is effectively a collection of rituals using glyphs, effigies, and chants to link an object to a person or place and so manipulate it. The Analytics Department has worked hard to determine the precise variables that must be fulfilled and have successfully reduced a number of once elaborate rites to mathematical equations. Still, this mostly relies on the dream-logic of the Dreamlands and some Analysts insist it really is more of an art.

Noetics, pre-reqs Occult 3, Willpower 2
A power of protection, Noetics governs defensive wards and protective mantras to keep entities out of a location - or a body. Many sorcerers have glyphs tattooed or even scarred onto themselves to prevent intrusion. Again, Analytics have got this almost down to a science.

Metaphysics, Pre-reqs Attunement 3, character creation only.
True sorcery is an accident of birth, an expression of power unique to each sorcerer. Flashy, dangerous, and powerful, the Bureau prefers metaphysicists to exercise restraint where possible. Sorcerers on record displayed powers ranging from telekinesis, pyrokinesis, animation of the inanimate, and outright warping of the laws of physics in a localized area.

He's a Florida boy.

The white sands, the once-crystal waters of the Gulf, the sleepy carelessness of New Port Richey. All gone, as barren as the southwestern shoreline now. Hurricanes are more pleasant in Johnny's eyes--wash away the fish stink and clear the air of fog. He hasn't been home in a long time, not since the red tides became more frequent. His best friend Iggy died in a flash tide when they were eight. Save for an abortive attempt at school, Johnny never left the shores much. Always looking South.

The Marines and the Cuba blockade gave him plenty to mull on and a front row seat to the possibilities in the Zero Point's grabbag of horrors. Worse than spontaneous red tide blooms, that's for damn sure. A brief tour of the El Paso Quarantine zone...well, he legitimately has a hard time remembering that. Vague nightmares and its requisite insomnia are all he can say about El Paso. Nice enough scenery if you simply look toward the Rio Grande.

There was something strange about the desert, he'd say that much. The VA took care of the rest of those ideas. Because of whatever occurred during his tour, the government, namely the spooks, took a damned keen interest in him. He'd the wherewithal and the smarts to be boots on the ground. Mix that with an inclination for the little things and a genuine joy of typing field reports, the CIA gave him clearance and a badge. His posting could only be better if he were in California or the border proper with Mexico. The Big Easy was a dream come true.

Fuck Berlin. New Orleans was the real city of spies, playing cat and mouse with something beyond catchy idioms.
