"Aww Harper, come on, you don't want to sleep while all your new classmates have fun together do you?"
Samuel asked with a gentle chuckle, Harper might be sleepy now but if Samuel knew his little boy right he'd be excited about going to school as soon as he had woken up properly.

"And you'll be late if you don't get up now,"
Samuel said, swapping over to Spanish for no other reason than to make sure Harper got some of his daily intake of the language, "You don't want to be late your first day! You want to be there early to show your teachers how much you like school,"

He then decided to take matters into his own hands by reaching into bed and tickling Harper's tummy a little, that way his restful sleep would be disturbed, he would have to get used to getting up early. Roman frequently brought the kids to daycare a little later since he started his work days a little later, but there would be no more of that, "Get up, it'll be worth it, I promise, school is the best!"

Harper shrieked in glee when Samuel attacked him with tickles. "Okay okay okay!" he gurgled, kicking his little legs so his papa would stop. Then he got up and he jumped out of bed. "Okay, I'll get dwessed!" he promised. Even if he was speaking mostly correctly by this point, he still had troubles with certain sounds, and of course still had a slightly babyish voice. But it was clear he could speak mostly properly, which was great.

"Good boy,"
Roman said happily, kissing his son on the forehead before standing up. "Do you need help getting dressed?"

"Nope! I'll be fine, Daddy,"
Harper said, and made his way over to the drawers to get his uniform out.

"Okay."
Roman took Samuel's hand and lead him out of the room. Then they went and got the twins and Letha out of bed. Roman set them all up in their highchairs and started making breakfast for all of them, which consisted of pancakes because it was a special occasion.

After a few minutes, Harper scurried down the stairs, wearing the dark blue polo shirt and black shorts that made up his school uniform. They had of course chosen one of the best schools in the area -- it wasn't a private school, mainly because Roman thought private school people were snobs and he knew they weren't any better than public schools. But it was still a highly respected, well-conducted, safe primary school. Their little boy deserved the best.

"Oh, wow, Harper, you look so handsome!"
Roman said brightly in order to encourage his son. "Show Papa! Papa, doesn't Harper look amazing?"

s a m u e l

They got started with their normal routine of getting the kids ready, letting Harper get dressed himself, he had no problem with that anymore. Sometimes he'd need help with buttons or shoelaces of course, but he wasn't a little baby anymore.

After getting the twins and Letha, who now was attending daycare, as well they went down to prepare breakfast. And they meant Roman. But Samuel kept him company, while making sure he had everything for work and keeping track of the kids. Harper came down looking absolutely precious in his school uniform.

"Aww look at you!" Samuel said happily as he looked the little boy up and down, he had dressed himself properly and Samuel had no complaints about the way he had done it, "you look all grown up," he added. Even though he still very much looked like a five year old, kids just tended to like hearing that.

Harper got seated by the table and once Roman had gotten some pancakes done Samuel helped him put a serving of pancakes on his plate, allowing him to choose his toppings but putting them on for him. Normally he'd let him do it by himself to learn, but since it was his first day of school he didn't want to give him the chance to make a huge mess of himself.

"So Harper, please tell us, how does it feel to start school? Are you excited?" Samuel said with a big smile. He felt like it was important to harbour a good attitude towards education, if he and Roman treated it as a dull and boring thing the kids would be more likely to think so as well, but if they acted excited about it maybe it could get the kids excited about it as well. Though Samuel had a feeling most kids looked forward to their first day of school.

r o m a n
"I'm uber excited," Harper said with a big nod. As a five year old, he tended to speak quite dramatically, but Roman didn't doubt he was very excited about his first day of school. Roman smiled, because he thought that that was very good to hear. It was important children were enthusiastic about their learning and education.

"What are you most excited to learn about?"
Roman asked. He was sitting beside Letha in her high chair and was feeding her a jar of baby food, since despite being old enough to technically be able to eat solid foods now, she was still getting used to it, so they usually reserved that for dinnertime.

"Animals!"
Harper said happily, the expected response from the fauna-loving boy. "And ... and cars, and nature, and the ocean, and evwything in the whole wild world!"

"Aww, Harper, that's so sweet. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun at school."

Once everyone had finished their breakfast, Roman made sure Harper brushed his teeth and then helped Samuel get the other kids ready for daycare, and also got dressed himself. Soon they were all on their way. They dropped the younger three off at daycare first, since they wanted to go in to drop Harper off at first day of school, as it was a most important occasion.

They arrived at the school, parked the van and all got out. Roman put Harper's backpack on his back, wiped off a little bit of maple syrup from his lip, then gave him a big smile.

"Ready?"

"Ready."

s a m u e l

They walked the little bit inside, Samuel opted not to take Harper's hand, mostly so Harper would get to feel like a big by, but also because he knew kids could be cruel, and while he definitely wasn't going to keep back on the hugs when they left he didn't he could hold back the affection just a little.

Inside it was quite clear that that wouldn't be much of a problem though, several other kids were there with teary-eyed parents, it was weird because Samuel didn't remember seeing many of other people's parents his first day at school. But to be fair he had been busy crying because he didn't want his mum to leave.

They arrived at Harper's classroom door. His teacher was standing by it, having a conversation with some other parents, and of to the side, a mother was fussing over her little girl's braids before letting her go into her classmates.

They stopped up so they could say a proper goodbye to Harper before they left. Samuel crouched down and smiled at him, "You have fun now, okay, Harper? Be nice and make lots of friends, yeah?"

r o m a n
Roman was expecting Harper to be a little clingy or nervous or scared when they were actually in the classroom -- his mother had told him that he and London had both kicked and screamed and the teachers had had to pry them off their parents. He had also heard similar stories from Elliot's and Bella's and Blake's parents. Simply put, it was what he was used to hearing about little kids.

But Harper didn't even blink. He simply beamed at his papa and threw his arms around him in a tight hug. "Bye, Papa!" the gorgeous little boy gurgled. Then, he pulled Roman's hand until he crouched down as well, and hugged him too. "Bye, Daddy!"

"Bye, sweetie,"
Roman said, smiling, but still obviously shocked. "You have a great day, okay? We'll be right here to pick you up at three-thirty."

"Okay!"
And then, without a care in the world, Harper jumped up and ran off to introduce himself to his teacher.

Roman almost wanted to stay there for a few minutes, just to make sure nothing was wrong, but Harper looked completely and totally fine as he chatted to his teacher. So, Roman blinked a couple of times, took Samuel's hand and lead him out of the classroom, throwing a look back at their son as they left. He didn't say anything until they reached the car, simply thinking, with a puzzled but amused expression on his face.

"I wasn't expecting that to go so well, honestly,"
Roman said to Samuel once they were back on the road. "Like, I thought he'd be a little clingy? But, no, he just powered on in there."

S a m u e l

Samuel looked after Harper as he just kind of left them, ready to take on the adventure that would be his first day of school. Samiel almost wanted to run after him and give him another hug, but it was time for them to leave Harper on his own.

"I dunno I didn't expect it but I'm not that surprised, he's smart and he loves to do new things and he knows we'll be back at the end of the day, it'll probably be worse when we get to Edie and Stella," Samuel said when they were back in the car, on their way to his own school, but for work obviously. It had been a little shocking to just see Harper be so fine with it, especially with how scared he remembered he had been his first day of school. But if he thought about it it made sense, Harper was very social and loved making friends, this would probably, and hopefully, not be that much of a challenge for him.

"Is it bad that I'm a little disappointed though? Like don't get me wrong I've never been so proud of him, and I know it's good that he can be so independent... you know what, maybe I just needed the hugs and all that more than he did," he let out a small laugh, it was probably true. Growing up when you were little was easy and the best thing ever, seeing your children grow up on the other hand was a little more conflicting.

r o m a n
"Well, to be honest I was a little disappointed too, but I'm glad he's not going to have any troubles with starting school," Roman said. He reached over and rubbed Samuel's knee a little. Honestly, it was crazy how fast their kids were growing up. It seemed like only yesterday that they were struggling to even adopt their first child. Now, they had four kids, the eldest of which was five years old, and had just went off to his first day of school.

Roman sighed a little, but he had a smile on his face. When they reached Samuel's school, he said goodbye to his husband with a sweet kiss, and a tight hug. "When you get home I'll give you all those hugs that you needed from Harper," he said with a chuckle, before kissing his husband again and sending him on his way.

Honestly, Roman was a little scared that the kids were growing up too fast, but on the grand scheme of things, he was incredibly happy. Harper was amazing and was surely going to do excellently in school. The other three kids were progressing and becoming more inquisitive every day. Really, Roman was so fortunate to have four amazing children, and he couldn't have wished for a better family at all.

s a m u e l

Harper's first month of school went well. Samuel was so incredibly proud of him he could barely find the words for it. The little boy was making friends, behaving well and best of all, was coming home every day with a smile on his face.

It was a very nice day in March and Samuel and Roman, along with Matthew Elissa and Will, had been invited over to Cameron and Gabi's place, to visit them and let the kids meet up with Jojo and Emmie. Though mostly Emmie since Jojo still wasn't the best playmate as she only had just passed the half a year mark.

They had arrived just a little while back and we're all now sitting in Cameron and Gabi's living room. The older kids had already started to play with some toys on the floor, but Samuel had Letha in his lap, Gabi was carrying Jojo and Elissa was carrying Will.

It had been a good while since Matthew's weird outburst towards Cameron and since then they seemed to actually get along better. Matthew had probably realized that They could relate to each other a lot which seemed to have helped them be a little friendlier with one other.

"So how has life been treating ya since the tour?" Samuel asked casually. Cameron had gone on that tour, Gabi had done just fine, though been a little stressed, but it had been worth it because based on Cameron's, and Gabi's, descriptions it had been very successful, "is it weird to live like us normal non-famous people again?" What he was saying actually wasn't completely accurate though, seeing as Matthew was a popular author and Roman was incredibly well respected in the world of tattooing.

r o m a n
Harper had been hard at work at school, but today he got a day to have fun with his siblings and friends as they were over to Gabi and Cameron's house for a play date, and for a chance for the adults to catch up. Cameron had come back from tour a few months previously, and according to his accounts it had been absolutely amazing. Roman was so proud he got to live out his dream. He was also incredibly happy that he and Matthew were getting along a lot better. All in all, the two men were a lot happier with each other than they had been on that explosive day.

Today, though, Cameron didn't seem to be happy at all. Firstly, he looked like a mess. He was wearing a baggy black T-shirt over old pyjama shorts, and his hair, though always looking unruly, but still gorgeous, was sitting on his head in absolute disarray. He had the darkest circles under his eyes Roman had ever seen, and his skin was pale and sallow. He was sitting on the couch next to Gabi, facing her, but with his legs curled beside him, his head leaning into the back of the couch and a hand clenching the curls just above his forehead. He was staring off at nothing with a completely blank expression on his face.

When Samuel spoke to him, Cameron violently twitched, so violently it looked almost like a spasm. "Huh?" he said breathlessly, looking up at Samuel, then flickering his eyes between all the other adults in the room almost frantically. Roman's heart sunk, because he had seen this before. This is what happened when Cameron's hyperintelligent mind became too much for him, and started to affect his ability to concentrate and stay alert.

Elissa looked genuinely scared, not of Cameron but of what was happening. She shifted closer to Matthew a little. Roman said gently, "Samuel asked if it's weird for you to live with non-famous people again."

"Famous? Did you know that the word famous comes from the Latin words fama and famosus which then became the French word fameus?" Cameron's voice was so rapid Roman almost didn't understand what he was saying. He blinked a couple of times more at Samuel, then turned his head back to the same position it had been in before, and resumed that strange blank look.

s a m u e l

Samuel frowned at Cameron's response. It hadn't been hard to tell something was off before, but they knew he struggling with sleeping and having a kid was stressful so Samuel had just kind of assumed he was very tired. They way he acted right now though, well, it was off in a different kind of way.

"No, uh, I did not know that? But it makes sense since it's a Latin language?" Samuel said not sure if he was actually supposed to respond to the outburst normally or not. He tried to catch Gabi's eye, but her worried frown was directed at Cameron and stayed there for a while before turning to address the group, "he's having an off day, but he didn't want to cancle since we had been planning this for a while," she said casually, clearly attempting not to put to much attention on it. But it was hard when even Matthew was dying Cameron with what was some weird mixture of slight confusion and worry as he held Elissa a little closer.

"Oh okay," Samuel said and tried to grasp for something more fun to talk about, "uh, how's Jojo doing?"

"She's doing great as ever, I think she's just happy to have her daddy back, it's really sweet,"

r o m a n
Roman still wasn't sure how to approach Cameron's behaviour -- he had never been sure even when they had dated -- but he decided not to make a big deal out of it because he didn't want Cameron to think he was crazy. Countless people had let Roman believe that over the course of his life, and he would never wish that kind of feeling on another human being. Ever.

"I'm sure she is,"
Elissa said sweetly, clearly trying to regain some form of normalcy in their conversation. "I wonder if she'll have Cameron's curly hair? Since Emma-Marie has --"

"Well, curly hair is a dominant gene so probably,"
Cameron blurted out. He didn't move, he just continued to stare off into space as he vomited an almost unintelligible gush of language. "But you know what else is a dominant gene? Having six fingers. So it's hard to say. Genetics are weird. You know what else is weird? Rain, it's literally like clouds crying. Did you know that Australia gets below 600 millilitres of water over 80% over the continent over a year?"

Cameron let out a high and almost manic laugh, as if this was incredibly amusing to him. He shifted a little bit, turning so his body faced the rest of them, but continued to flicker his gaze between multiple objects in the room -- the clock, the TV, Jojo, Emma-Marie's headband, the door, the carpet, a picture hanging on the wall. It was if he couldn't concentrate on one thing at all.

"But did you know that Antarctica is actually the driest continent in the world? Which is really weird because it's obviously covered in ice but the ice doesn't melt so it stays dry. There's these pyramid-shaped structures in Antarctica that conspiracy theorists think were made by the people who lived in the lost city of Atlantis. People also think that they were made by the Native Americans because in Native American folklore they say their ancestors came from a great white land, so, like, they think before Pangaea broke apart the people who lived in Antarctica went to North America? And became the Native Americans? Also, did you know that the population of Native Americans in 2010 was two-point-nine million people but in 2011 the population of Aboriginal Australians was three-point-three percent which is -- three-point-three divided by a hundred times twenty-two-point-three-four million -- seven hundred and thirty seven thousand, two hundred and twenty? But in 2016 the population was six hundred and forty nine thousand, one hundred and seventy one? That means the Indigenous population went down by eighty eight thousand and forty nine in five years. Fuck. That never would have happened if British people hadn't come here in 1788, we fucking suck, I hate being British sometimes."

s a m u e l

Cameron's behavior was almost kind of scary to witness. Or at least jarring. It just wasn't how conversations were held and it honestly just seemed as if Cameron had lost his ability to filter his thoughts and they were now getting to hear the train of thought in his overactive mind. And honestly that might actually be the case.

Samuel didn't know what to do at all this time, it was a little too much to just change the topic because Cameron clearly wasn't okay, and that wouldn't be completely fair on him. As Cameron still was rambling Samuel looked over at Gabi who probably would know how to handle the situation the best.

She let out a sigh. Not an annoyed or irritated one but the kind of shaky tired sigh Samuel knew all to well from seeing Roman struggle with his health, mental and physical. She pushed her hand through her dark hair, clearly contemplating something and everyone sat quiet waiting for Cameron to finish up or something else to happen.

"Cameron," Gabi said finally, her voice kind of firm but not overly loud, "It would be fine if you want to go out and smoke to calm down for a bit. No one will mind," she wasn't beating around the bush, there wasn't really a point to trying to be discreet about it, they already knew and they were his friends and wanted him to be able to function.

r o m a n
"Smoke?" Cameron turned his head to Gabi and blinked a couple of times in confusion, as if he didn't know what smoking was, or what Gabi meant. But that wasn't the case -- and they all knew Gabi didn't mean a cigarette, she meant weed. A drug. Roman's stomach churned in protest, because he hated drugs and alcohol with a passion. But he wasn't stupid, and he knew Cameron needed it. If he hadn't seen him act like this, he might have argued otherwise, but Roman knew this was one of the only ways he could calm himself down when he was in such a state.

"I don't want to smoke. I hate smoking. Smoking causes thirty percent of all cancer-related deaths and eighty-seven percent of lung cancer-related deaths. I don't want to get cancer and die. The life expectancy of an Australian man is eighty-two-point-four-five years and that's already too short, I don't want to -- "

"Cameron,"
Roman interjected gently. Cameron whipped his head around to face him. "I think you maybe should, you look like you've had trouble sleeping, and -- "

"No,"
Cameron snapped. It was a short and deliberate statement that took Roman aback because it was so different to everything else he had said. "I don't want to. I don't need it, I don't even fucking like it, it just makes me feel gross afterwards and I hate being addicted to it."

"You're not -- "

"I am. I'm not fucking doing it."
Cameron paused, then his voice resumed the same rushed and frantic tone. His hands were shaking now. "Did you know that Iceland has the highest percentage of marijuana users per capita? But three percent of Australians take ecstasy? And twenty-nine-point-five million people worldwide suffer from drug addiction? I don't want to be another statistic. I'm already part of the percentage of the world who are geniuses -- one percent -- and the percentage of the world who have eidetic memories -- two to ten percent but that statistic is for children, there isn't even one for adults because it's so fucking rare -- so I don't want to be another goddamn number, okay? So you'll have to fucking force it down my throat."

s a m u e l

Without a word, Gabi stood. She then handed her baby to Matthew who had to let go of Elissa in fvour of receiving Jojo, in protest, not about the baby but most likely about the drugs he started, "Gabi—" but Gabi cut him of with an angry look to tell him that now wasn't the time.

She left the room, which was dead silent for a couple of minutes before coming out with a joint and a lighter in her hand. The first of which Samuel had barely ever seen in real life before. Which was a little silly, he was sure people smoked at parties he had been at, and he knew Gabi wasn't a stranger to it herself and he had been friends with her for years now. But it simply wasn't his thing, so the whole situation made him a little uncomfortable to witness.

Gabi sat back down and turned to Cameron before she very calmly started to speak, "Cameron, you don't become a statistic by smoking, everyone is a statistic, you can literally categorize anything, but we can choose not to treat it as you become a statistic and instead treat it as what it is for you, which is medication. It's not different from Samuel or Roman taking their anxiety medications, those are also drugs. But neither those or this is hard drugs, it isn't ecstasy, and you only need it on your off days, and that's okay. Today is an off day, and no one blames you for doing something that is good for your mental health. You know that if you can't calm down you can't sleep and then you'll just continue on like this."

r o m a n
Roman had to resist the urge to frown when he saw the joint. It wasn't that he didn't like marijuana itself -- he knew its medical benefits and he knew Cameron, in this case, really needed it to function at the moment. The problem wasn't this particular substance. It was different to Roman's attitude to other drugs, the ones people just abused for no beneficial purpose, because this one had real uses.

The problem was the legality of it. Marijuana was illegal in Australia, even for medicinal purposes. But even if medicinal marijuana were legal in this country, Cameron wouldn't be able to obtain it, since his reason for needing it was so rare and niche that it wouldn't be covered by the law. So, Cameron was breaking a law by even having it in his possession. Roman wasn't a snob, and he wasn't the most saintly person either, but at the end of the day he was still the son of a police chief. It had still been ingrained in him to follow the law except for very special circumstances. So, seeing someone break it wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world to him.

But his comfort didn't matter, and this was one of those special circumstances. Cameron needed it. So, he wasn't going to say anything.

Cameron stared at the joint. His entire body was shaking, not from anger, but from his sleep deprivation and his confliction over the object in his girlfriend's hand. Roman thought he was going to refuse it, before Cameron let out a deep sigh, took the two items from Gabi's hand, stood up and left the room. He was muttering statistics to himself as he went.

Roman watched him go, and they all heard the back door close. But somehow, it felt inappropriate to say anything. Like it was disrespecting Cameron in some way. So he stayed quiet, staring at the kids playing in the corner without a care in the world. What would he do if one of them grew up and needed medicinal weed to ease their pain? He of course wouldn't be comfortable with the illegality of it ... but ... he would probably get it for them. Anything to end their suffering. But, still, he hoped strongly that nothing like that would ever happen to his beautiful babies.

After almost ten minutes, Cameron came back into the room. The change in him was incredibly obvious right from the start. He was no longer shaking, or talking to himself. His eyes, while still very dark, were bloodshot and slightly droopy. He walked in and closed the door quietly, then shoved his hands into his pockets and moved over to sit beside Gabi on the couch. When he walked past, Roman could smell it on him. He didn't like it but he didn't react to it at all.

Cameron sat down. He leaned into the back of the couch like before, but facing forward, playing with his fingers absent-mindedly. He was silent, staring at the ceiling for a few moments, before he slowly turned his eyes to Gabi, and quietly said, "Thank you, I feel a lot better now. But I wish I didn't have to resort to this to be able to be okay."

s a m u e l

There was a weird tense silence while Cameron went out to smoke. Gabi reclaimed Jojo, but other than that everyone just kind of sat there, the only real sound coming from the playing children in the background, who really had no idea what was going on.

Soon Cameron was back and he was significantly calmer, seemed a little more like himself in fact, and Samuel couldn't help but wonder if they had hung out with him while he was high without even knowing it before.

"I know," Gabi said softly, "but you've been cutting down, which is good, but you can't think needing it in times like this is inherently bad just because you don't like it,"

"Really I think most people who struggle with something would rather not have to do the things they have to do to feel better, because that would mean they were better already," Samuel reasoned.

"Yeah, just because your case is special doesn't mean you're alone in how you feel," Gabi said and gently pushed some of Cameron's messy hair out of his face, "Which is why you can't think in statistics, the lines are blurred and things overlap,"

r o m a n
Cameron smiled slightly as the people around him reassured him. He shifted so he was leaning his head against Gabi's shoulder, his hair brushing her neck. Jojo lay in her arms so he slowly and carefully lifted a hand to brush over her soft head. The motion was so tender and peaceful Roman almost couldn't believe this man had been so erratic not ten minutes ago.

"But it's illegal,"
Cameron said, his voice barely above a whisper. He kept his gaze fixed solely on Joanna-Miles. "It's illegal, and Elissa is a lawyer, and Roman's dad was a police chief for years and years, and Matthew probably couldn't break a law if he tried. And if I get caught it will hurt Emmie and Jojo."

"We're not going to tell anyone!"
Elissa quietly protested, as if she was genuinely saddened by the idea of Cameron thinking that they would. "What gain would any of us get out of turning you in, even if we wanted to? All it would mean is losing a friend."

"Yeah, and it's not like you're just abusing it, you're using it for a reason,"
Roman said insistently. "It should be legal for medicinal purposes anyway, it's ridiculous that it isn't."

"But even if it was, I wouldn't be able to get it, because the law wouldn't cover it,"
Cameron said. Clearly, even while high, he was intelligent and knew exactly what was going on. "Because what's wrong with me is so unique, it wouldn't apply to anyone else. And if they make a special exception for me, they'll have to do it for anyone else with weird conditions, and then it would never end."

s a m u e l

"It's not like it's candy being handed out to children where everyone has to get everything equal though, it's different," Matthew sad suddenly. It was almost as if he was annoyed by Matthew's pessimistic out look on the whole thing, or maybe just that he didn't want him to have such an outlook and feel better because they were friends, and because he was Gabi's boyfriend, maybe, it was always hard to tell with Matthew, "I'm not going to claim to be incredibly read up on the subject, but the easiness to obtain it depends on how strict the laws are, and since we don't have the medical use legalized you can't actually claim to know how easy or hard it would be to obtain, no matter how much of the statistics you have in your head. And you're underestimating people's willingness to help, since it's something that affects your quality of life, which tends to be a criterion for most mental disorders anyways, I'm sure any therapist would be willing to work out a way to prescribe it,"

Matthew was actually, and kind of surprisingly considering the subject, making some decent points. Cameron seemed to be very caught up in what he knew but didn't really take in consideration the human factor, Samuel doubted anyone would risk their license for a single patient but it wasn't that unheard of people getting prescribed the drug for some random issue like back pain or made up anxiety in the places where it was easier to get a hold of. But there were stricter places too of course, and Cameron seemed to automatically go to the harsher alternatives.

"And even so, if it helps you, don't be so hung up over whether or not it would or wouldn't be legal. It isn't." He said this bluntly in his normal monotonous voice,"But as long as no one finds out or unless you do something stupid like driving a car nothing is going to happen, and no one blames you for it,"

r o m a n
Roman and Cameron both looked very surprised at Matthew's reasoning. Elissa looked very proud, and rewarded her husband with a sweet kiss to the cheek before nuzzling against his shoulder. It was like Matthew adamantly refused to let Cameron get so worked up over the legality of this habit, and that was honestly very sweet to see, since six months ago it had looked like he had hated Cameron as much as he had hated Roman all those years ago.

"...Thanks,"
Cameron said with a small smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Really, that means a lot to me. I feel like I sometimes need a rude awakening when I get like this."

"And Matthew is very good at rude awakenings,"
Elissa joked with a giggle. "Nah, I'm joking, I love you, Matthew."

"Gross. Love is banned from the world, didn't you know?"
Roman said, affectionately pulling his husband closer.

"Hypocrite."

All in all, it had been a rollercoaster of a visit to Gabi and Cameron's household, but it ended on a positive note, with the kids having a lot of fun and the adults getting along splendidly once Cameron had calmed down. Roman hoped Cameron found a way around his confliction with his habit, though. Because even if it was illegal, the amazing man deserved a break, and if he had to use substances to escape from his own incredible mind, so be it.
