Asmodeus is a demon of lust, and all things related to lust or of deep desire, so it is without question that he is one who knows exactly what to say and when to say it. In this way, he is undeniably charismatic, to a much greater degree than his demonic and even heavenly counterparts, exuding a particular type of charm that always seems to be charged with some sort of dangerous, underlying current. He is not afraid to utilize these innate skills, utilizing them in order to get something he wants, be it a reaction or validation in the form of whispered sweet nothings under tangled bed sheets. For such an unworldly and malicious creature, Asmodeus knows human emotions quite intimately, which is strange, considering that, as a demon, he experiences emotions in a different way and on a different, more limited spectrum. This combination of understanding human beings uncannily well and being unable to feel them in ways as complex as the former creates something of a deadly combination that he abuses in order to gain what his fickle heart suddenly seeks. Asmodeus possesses an allure very much unique to him and unlike conventional ideas of attraction; he is not particularly eloquent or decorous, rather, something inexplicably dark and intangible lurks under the breezy, devil-may-care facade he presents to most he meets. Perhaps it is the danger that draws people in, the obvious predatory energy he exudes, or simply the carelessness with which he treats the seriousness of life, but there is something so captivating about the man, where you cannot help but think of him continually even after he is long gone. When he enters a room, all heads automatically turn; it is difficult to ignore his presence when so much of it demands one's utmost attention, when as little as a single glance holds so much intensity and even the slightest of smiles is enough to send one's stomach somersaulting. Like moths to a single, brilliant light, mortals and the divine alike are attracted to his being. No one can so beautifully sculpt a mind and then crush it to dust so quickly in their fist like Asmodeus can, and perhaps this, the chaos associated with him, is that which draws them in.
Such danger, however, is unfortunately paralleled by a dishonest character of many masks. Asmodeus is no stranger to lies, be it little, white ones or ones of greater magnitude and ultimately consequence-- the man lies often, though not entirely always on purpose; they are compulsive to the point where he sometimes doesn't realize the falsities that so easily slip past his lips and wind themselves in the minds of lovers. He does it with little trouble, and his bad habits are only further reinforced by how eager others are to eat up every falsehood and untruth. Asmodeus, just as he is a man of charm, is a man of persuasion and manipulation. People are perplexed to find that they cannot help but want to do what it is he asks of them; he plants things in their mind so that they feel as if the sentiment was their idea in the first place. Rather than dirtying his perfectly tailored suits or miring himself in the petty affairs of mortals, he much prefers to play people, like pawns upon a chessboard, against one another. Asmodeus is the ultimate puppet master, able to trick and deceive without having people ever find out they were used until it is far too late. There is, however, a disadvantage to this flaw of his; those who know him well enough have grown acquainted with the fact that what Asmodeus says is not always the whole truth, or even half of it, and are wary of trusting him fully.
/ unabashed
& self-indulgent
/
Asmodeus is one that carries himself with a pride that just borders arrogance, though he's adamant that the latter is simply confidence, not cockiness. However, that doesn't stop people from making the assumption that the man is narcissistic, which, to a certain extent, holds some truth-- it is no mystery that he fancies himself a catch, and he is not shy about admitting such. He is comfortable in his skin, with his body, and as a result sometimes fails to remember that others have not arrived at the same conclusion with their own. Such is not too much of a surprise, one realizes, upon seeing him for the first time; Asmodeus is nothing short of gorgeous, especially in human terms. After all, how good of a demon would he be without the power to seduce, in which appearance has a large factor? As one who feeds off of lustful energies, similar, although not entirely alike that of a succubus or incubus, his ability to attract would be greatly hampered if he had taken a form considered unappealing. Throughout his entire existence upon earth, Asmodeus has been given a pass because he is good-looking, and thus is used to freely talking about subjects deemed taboo or vulgar, due to the fact that people are quick to forgive and forget the transgressions of the beautiful. In this way, he can be quite crass, unafraid to bluntly point out one's insecurities or to tease simply because he enjoys the reaction it invokes.
Man is often subject to the follies of temptation, be it manifested in the form of lust or of gluttony, or purely avarice. Those of stronger will-power find such temptations easier to resist, however, Asmodeus is no man, and he certainly lies well beyond the sphere of the moderate and humble. From what constitutes as his youth, he has always wanted more, left constantly unsatisfied in which he was often faced with a sort of emptiness and felt that one-dimensional gratifications could somehow fill the void. As the embodiment of lust, his materialistic whims were intensified-- a new lover might stave off his restlessness for a few days until the yearning would creep back. Such desires developed into ones that did not only account for pleasures of the flesh, but the desire to live lavishly and without restraint. His integrity and diligence, as a result, have severely suffered; they are considerably underdeveloped, as he caves quite easily to cravings in pursuit of short-term pleasure. Unwilling is he to patiently wait and cultivate long-term fulfillment, hence his inability to stay tied down to one person for very long. Asmodeus is one to ignore his voice of reason in order to chase after the yearnings of the heart. Honor remains a close friend when he is not required to use it, but it becomes a stranger when suddenly there lies something he wants. No person is off-limits, no act too unscrupulous.
/ playful
& apathetic /
The inability to die has taken the seriousness out of life for Asmodeus, whose sense of humor, though dark and biting, is one that can either get him into or keep him out of trouble. He is playful in the sense that he enjoys teasing and the chase, although such can be something of a hindrance, especially when something is particularly concerning and he appears to care little. This nonchalance often borders upon apathy, one that is typically displayed in relationships. Commitment is a joke to the man, and while partners may express the desire to move forward, he prefers to keep things strictly casual and refrains from forming too many attachments to particular individuals. He does not exist to engage in human activities such as settling down and building a family-- as a demon, these concepts are foreign to him. A trait that has often lead to toxic romances, Asmodeus owes this part of himself due to the fact that he does not view others as people or as equals, simply objects and tools he can freely use, without consequence or thought, in order to fulfill his selfish whims. He is the kind to take more than he gives, and he gives little. After all is done, Asmodeus will go on his separate way and expect one to do the same with no questions asked, acting uninterested once he feels he has obtained what it was he aimed for in the first place.

Asmodeus does not know mortality. Created by the hands of God, masterfully sculpted from constellations and the life-blood of the universe breathed into his form, he began his existence as an angel among the holy ranks, a guardian and upholder of the peace. He remembers little of then, of the past, when it was not lust that coursed through his veins but an unadulterated love. If he could, Asmodeus would think of how often his mind was pre-occupied with the Creator's vision for the world, and how it was his utmost, and only, duty to uphold that, and of how positively
dreary it was. Purposeless, meaningless; Asmodeus was but a pawn in a primordial game that disadvantaged the visionary, the idealistic. It was for this reason-- the inexplicable void of nothingness he felt threaten consume him-- that the message of Lucifer, then the angel Samael, resonated so perfectly with him.
When Samael was inevitably cast from heaven, taking a quarter of the Creator's divine legions with him, Asmodeus fell alongside them all. Raising his mighty fist, God struck it upon the heavens and they split in two, and Samael's rebellion was swallowed whole by the earth. Asmodeus' wings were ripped from his body during the descent, unfurling, then unraveling, as they were sliced from off of his back. He can recall vaguely the exact moment of the fall, when the sky seemed to close on him and the world was painted in a vicious red. What he does remember vividly is pain, how beautifully his skin screamed as it was peeled from his star-wrought bones and mortal blood poured from his immortal body. And, gracefully, gorgeously, he crashed, his saintly soul shattering into millions of ungodly pieces. From the ashes, Asmodeus arose a depraved demon damned eternally to hell.
As time continued and the Creator began to populate the world with a new product, the humans, Asmodeus slowly began to garner for himself a reputation among these petty and weak-minded beings. He was enchanted with the intricacies of their nature; torn between the spheres of vice and of virtue, he discovered early on how easy it was to have them forget, even for the briefest of moments, their moral compass as they gave into pleasures of the flesh. Asmodeus, being capable of greater power than his other demonic counterparts, found he could temporarily manipulate the bonds that kept him confined to hell in order to momentarily free himself. Thus, he manifested several times on earth, stringing about destruction whenever he was freed and feeding off of the lecherous energies of people. Such a practice greatly weakened him, so he refrained from doing so often, instead resorting to manipulation in order to trick humans into summoning him instead-- a practice that required a degree less of his powers. It was through this method that Asmodeus managed to escape the Lake of Fire. By weakening his bonds, he was able to cross the bridge from the world of the spiritual to the world of the real while summoned in a Bulgarian cathedral. He has been a free archdemon since, roaming the earth to indulge in all of its sinners.
