Turning off RTE?

Genres
Political intrigue, fantasy, futuristic, sci fi lite, superheroes, historical fiction, alternate universes. Smittings of romance, but only as side plot.
There used to be an option in profile preferences to turn off RTE so you didn't need to keep clicking on the bbcode editor function... because switching between the two kills custom coding and makes clones of unnecessary code all over the sheet every time you edit. I don't see this option anymore? Is it gone for good or was it just misplaced/moved?

I think Diana or one of the admins mentioned that if you switch to plain text using the little gear symbol, the forum remembers your preference. I don't believe there's a setting for it anymore.
 
If you click on the toggle button in the RTE box (the gear icon), it makes it so that it remains OFF on that device until you like... clear the history/cache/cookies of your browser. The only inconvenience is that you have to do it on all your devices.

I've tried it and did some div coding and it worked fine.
