One thousand years ago the Human race was confident in it's unquestioned dominance and absolute rule over the galaxy. We had conquered every known star system and subjugated every known sentient species. Our empire and authority went unquestioned and most importantly, unchallenged...that is until the coming of the Dra'Kesh. It was during the exploration of an isolated and uninhabited star system, we discovered a dark planet named Strigoi. Within it's mysterious confines we released a demonic horde that would evolve into the all powerful race known as the Dra'Kesh. Although the specifics have been lost to history, these monsters declared all out war on Humans. With a veracity and technology never before dreamed, they began to systematically exterminate Mankind from every corner of the galaxy. But while they showed absolutely no mercy to us, they billed themselves as liberators and saviors to the once subjugated peoples of our extended empire. They began to rally the various alien races under our rule and over the course of a millennium, Humans were driven to the very brink of extinction.
Now there are very few of us left alive, as we skirt the fringes of the galaxy, trying desperately not to be discovered. Those of us who still eek out an existence have vengeance burning within our souls to strike back against the peoples who betrayed us and the monsters that led the charge against us. There is a remote legend of a source so powerful it contains the secrets of life and death itself...the myth of the Schism. It is whispered that the Schism was once wielded by our Human ancestors and it's power was what gave us the conquering dominance to spread our empire throughout the galaxy. If we could once again find and wield this power, we can take our revenge on the Dra'Kesh and bring our race back from the edge of annihilation. The Schism is our very last hope, without it, all Humanity faces is oblivion...
