I will start off by saying the following:

There is a LIMIT on characters! Only 4 people will be accepted and I CANNOT guarantee the safety of your character!
Rules to Follow:
1. Keep track of your money
2. Be descriptive please
3. I am in control of all NPC's. You can initiate a conversation, and exit one, yet for the purpose of fights, I will be controlling the NPCs.
4. This RP will take a while to get to the main "plot".
5. Much of this RP will be travelling, trying to make money, and trying to not get ourselves killed.

This is the opening for the RP:

"Not even Hadak Ura could foresee this..." The sounds of ten thousand soldiers marched down the streets of Budapest, enclosing the ancient city and blocking access of the public to the bridges. "Ten years ago... Only ten years ago it was that the power of the world went down... Now look at us. We've reverted to animals.." A man adjusted his glasses, looking down from the Castle Buda's main building looking down. The main castle building had been preserved through the many wars and battles fought for the city, seeing that the State had descended into chaos only months after the power went out. "My friends... It seems the people need to remember who is in charge... Yet I, as a merchant, cannot do it alone. I need your support to get this law passed- and for the levies to be raised." There, sitting in a small conference room above the main complex (in the turret) sat nine elected "nobles", in reality these were only figureheads of a bygone era.

The nine were not elected, they were chosen for their bravery in the midst of war to retake the city from a group of bandits. The man, irritated by the lack of a response, tapped on the mahogany long table. "When the Long War ended five years ago... Where were you?" One of the nobles spoke up. "We were your right hand men Hadak Ura.. We were-" The man swung a fist straight for the face of the noble that spoke. "I am not a mere blacksmith... I am the one to hold that sword! I am not just a Warlord, I am King.. Guards- take this man away... And his brother." The noble looked shocked, his face flushing red, with blood and fear. "B-But Attila! My brother is in Esztergom!" Attila grinned, a wiry look of satisfaction on his face. "Is he? I had him thrown in the county jail only two days ago for defamation of my rule... You'll join him- and hang on the same day as he."

Attila folded his arms, laughing madly knowing he had full control over the city. "So... Any objections to raising the levies? Or passing the New Laws?" The nobles shook their heads and signed the papers, giving Attila what would amount to a Divine Right to rule. At 24 the young man had a nation at his feet. He adjusted his glasses, watching as the Royal Guards took their guns to the crowd that retreated in fear, blood-curtling screams could be heard from the room in which the nobles sat. "This is my nation now... In the eyes of the public I am but a merchant... Yet now I am King. This is what will happen to those who oppose my rule."
------

So in the basic sense of things we will be a group of people who will join together and get out of the city to explore the world. We will start in Europe and hopefully go to the Ukraine, Russia, China, and a lot of other places. The destinations we pick after the initial first objective of leaving Budapest is up to us.

Hometown (CAN be outside of Hungary):
Native Language:
Other Languages Spoken (Up to 2):
Level of Fluency in Above Languages (See below):

Fluency Rating- The languages of the world did not die out after the electricity left us, they stayed put.
1- Can Read the script

2- Can Read and understand what is written in both languages (Native and Language in Question)

3- Can understand the spoken language

4- Can not only understand spoken language, can also speak with some degree of fluency

5- Can speak fluently with few or no mistakes in grammar.

Many people do not have the time to master languages, and of course depending on their actual difficulty IRL I'd suggest adjusting the scale a bit. Languages that could be of help:
English (if not native)
German
Russian (if not some knowledge of Cyrillic)

You are going to be given $300, which can be exchanged for trade tokens, or items, or anything that you'd like.

Current Situation:
April 23rd, 2024

Riots across Budapest, Royal Guards attempting to lock down the city to prevent spread of riots

Merchants, or those with a knack for exploration, are asked to make their way to the Warlord Tavern, in Csepel, the last remaining link between Pest and Buda that hasn't been locked down.

This looks interesting, but I'm not sure I could do it. It would probably involve some knowledge about that part of the world.

Agreed.. That's why I think nobody will join *sigh* but you know what- it was worth a shot. If anyone wants to join just look at a map of Budapest's Danube area. That would be where the main part of the RP for the first few days (IRP) would be centered- we'd go from there

I'd be happy to have you on board though :)

Even if I gave it a try, there would only be two of us. And I don't like 1-1s.

You don't think some of your friends might like an interesting and in depth RP such as this one? I posted it here because I thought the community would like something so indepth and.. Vibrant

I just joined a couple of days ago, so I don't really have connections like I did at Roleplayer Guild.

Yes. Same username and avatar so anyone who knew me there will recognize me.
That where you're from?

I think this is very interesting! Could I get more info on the plot, if you can spare it? But yeah, I'm not too knowledgeable about Budapest either lol

Basically our characters will meet up in a bar by the Danube to discuss plans to leave the city- as fights erupt across the city, we'll use Csepel, a small island used during the Soviet years as a factory behemoth, as our base of operations, and try to secure the following:

A boat OR Mechanized Carriage (basically a steam powered wagon)

A few rifles WITH bullets

Trade goods

I am quite interested in the RP, sounds very well thought-out in terms of setting and story. A few questions, however:

What sort of technology is left of the old world? Of the new?
Is travel from Europe plausible?
How much of society has collapsed and are there governments in exile, or are there replacements like the ones in Budapest?

1. In terms of technology, it will heavily depend on where we are. Germany, for instance, still has steam factories- yet has halted production of it's automobiles in favor for tools, construction, and the rebuilding of the German state.

2. Travel from Europe to North America is not only plausible- it's possible and fairly cheap if you know who to ask.

3. A LOT of society has collapsed- America is in shambles, Texas formally seceded, as did New England, California, Oregon, and Washington broke off, and then the rest of the US is for the most part lawless.. Some pockets of civilization rest along the railroads that connect the West and the East, keeping trade going, yet the train cars have been retrofitted to run on steam, and the cars are somewhat more luxurious seeing how long-distance travel much be accomidated for.

4. I feel like I should make a Wikia page for this RP xD

Name: Markad Sovskorna
Age (17-30): 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: Markad stands around 5'4" with pale skin and black hair that hangs around his shoulders in tatters. He is not one known for strength, and is rather scrawny in comparison to most other men and in most cases women. He can typically be seen wearing a worn-out duster from America along with a cowboy hat, pretending to be a "true US marshal".
Personality: He's often a bit of the "bravado" type, often attempting to impress a fellow from his hometown, Nataline Domoska and Jeffrey. Still, in reality he's more prone to join in the fight the last minute than he is to be the first in the thick of it. Other than his brave-side, he's often lively in parties and other social affairs, though most consider the man odd.
Hometown (CAN be outside of Hungary):Череповец (Cherepanovo), Russia
Native Language: Russian
Other Languages Spoken (Up to 2): German, English
Level of Fluency in Above Languages (See below): 4, 2
History (from when you were born to when you arrived in Budapest): Markad was born on the road, in one of the several caravans that simply migrated around Russia - taking parts of Siberia in the summer and warmer climates further east in the winter. Ever since he was old enough to lift and fire a gun, he has been trained using an old pellet gun his father had given him. As the years went along, his mother grew ill with Spanish flu and died that winter, leaving a local village girl named Nataline Domoska in charge of the household. From that point on, she was considered the son in the family, leaving Markad alone to practice his skills with a little stray named Jeffrey, who dotes on the scrawny youth. When Markad's father too died nearly a decade later, Markad decided that the caravan held nothing more for him and began to head towards Budapest - which he had heard several rumors of before but had never been able to go. Dutifully, Jeffrey followed with his hero and Nataline's only response as to why she came: "Someone needs to keep your fat from the fire." Still, the open road was familiar to the trio, and it was the beginning of a new life...
