Kantolke was a quiet and peaceful planet, relatively speaking. It lay in the habitable zone of Muro-4452, a star twice the size of the Sun in the exact center of the universe - right at the point where the big bang first took place. It is unusual for a star, since it is part of no galaxy. It shines with a beautiful cyan color, and attracts a lot of celestial activity. Being in the center of the universe, the habitable band of Muro-4452's solar system became a hub for trade between species. But there was one other thing. Something truly unique to Kantolke. Magic. Above Kantolke's equator, a huge structure floats in geostationary orbit 4 kilometers above the ground. This structure consists of 9 naturally occurring floating islands, held together by gigantic chains, each loop big enough to build a dual carriageway road on. They are organised in a circular shape with 8 islands equidistant from each other forming the edge, and the ninth, and considerably larger island occupying the center. Chains run between these as so:

Apologies for abysmal MS Paint skills... I guess that's why I'm a writer not an artist.

However, this magic came at a great cost. 302 years ago, Muro-4452's surface erupted into action, unleashing catastrophic solar flares that physically rocked the planet, and even altered it's orbit slightly (though it remained in the habitable zone.) 95% of life on the surface was instantly obliterated, including the entire population of the Floating Cities. The energy from the solar flares was absorbed into every atom of the ground and the atmosphere, creating Magic as we know it. This magical energy works very similarly to sound energy - it moves in waves. But it also surpasses the laws of reality, and can be used for great and awful purposes. Due to the magic in the ground, the surface was quickly repopulated with forests of trees up to a kilometer high, and titanic beasts reminiscent of the dinosaurs. 56 years ago, it also became the site of a mass migration of a thousand different races from their galaxies to others, following a plague of swarming carniverous aliens that ravaged their planets. The majority of migrants kept moving, fleeing the swarm, but some stayed. Some took up residency in the abandoned Floating Cities, others preferring to risk the danger of the planet's surface for the trade off of much better food.

The Floating Cities naturally segregated themselves, with 1 or 2 races in each city. No one tried to inhabit the center city. It was too big and too hard to defend should anyone attack them. Each race quickly found that very little of the city's technology worked, and none of their own did - most likely due to the solar flare and the presence of magic. Instead, the races all began to work on developing their own styles of magic to make up for the lack of technology. Recently, however, information was leaked from those who explored the Ruined Cities on the surface, and those who explored the Central City itself. Information that would change the fate of Kantolke for a second time. According to the brokers, the central city contained a vast archive, whose technology still worked. Each race knew the Archive was the key to understanding this world. Border gates were quickly opened, magic redesigned for combat, and citizens retrained as soldiers. Alliances were formed some of which were then broken by betrayal or a change in opportunity. This was 4 years ago. The fighting in the central city is as fierce as ever, even though it more resembles petty gang fights than organised war, and bands of mercenaries have showed up looking to take advantage of the situation.

Rules:
- For now, only one city per player. Max 2 races per city.
- For now, civilian technology resembles 22nd century earth, however, none of it actually works. Even automatic doors have had to have handles installed. The cities look much like a kind of futuristic thing you might find in Star Wars or the Capitol from Hunger Games. Useable technology is still pre-steampunk.
- The maximum duration the races can have been here is 56 years, since the migration started 56 years ago.
- Races can be pretty much anything you want, but they're all relatively new to military-style magic.
- Fights will mainly take place in narrow streets and on the chain bridges, so keep that in mind while designing your army.
