Born to parents whom she can't remember, Finley was abducted at a young age by a rich vampir, an elite businessman that was involved in the underworld. Him and his subordinates trained her to be a fighter in the ring, pitting her against 'bait' weres, usually felines and coyotes, ones that were deemed as the weakest of the bunch. Any resistance on her part was met with beatings.

When not fighting for her life, she was kept in heavy chains, laced with silver to improve her endurance and weaken her humanity. She was only an 'it' or 'the mutt' the whole time she was kept in captivity. She was never given enough food to fill her belly, just enough to keep her alive, and affection was a foreign concept. There was no reward when she performed well; there was only the relief of knowing she wouldn't be lashed and struck once money traded hands.

She wasn't anything more than a machine. Her only purpose was to fight and kill.

Her will to survive earned her a reputation among the criminal community, a double-edged sword. On one hand, it brought her the favor of her captor: he was more willing to spend money to treat her wounds, more willing to spare her the occassional praise. But it also meant more and more people came to see her fight, bringing with them their own weres that, like her, were reduced to little more than animals.

It was a wonder she never went mad. Somehow, luckily or unluckily, she never became a Vargulf.

Fin did get used to it. They got used to the violence, to the give and take of pain, not even snapping their opponent's neck fazed them anymore. There was no stopping to consider it — they didn't have a choice. If one of them had to die, it might as well be the other party.

Just when it started to become a routine, no end in sight, they were saved.

It was all a blur after that, one confusing whirlwind of police asking questions and probing their damaged mind for answers, trying to gather evidence to put away their captor for good. Eventually the officers realized they were no help and handed them off to an organization that was dedicated to protecting and helping those like them, people who'd been abused and mistreated. They didn't understand what was happening, couldn't understand.

After months of clinical work, it was decided that it'd be best for them to be put in a different environment. They sent them away from the city, to a small and peaceful village where they hoped they could be rehabilitated with some help from a local werewolf family, who often took in lost souls as their own. It was a jarring change, having people to call their family, and it took a lot of work to get them used to being an actual person, but after nearly a year they've come a long way.

They're still awkward and unsure how to interact with others, too fearful to truly trust anyone besides their new family, but they're trying their best.

HISTORY:
Her childhood was normal, up until the age of six. Her parents got into a car accident one night, her mother having died upon impact and her father following later on in the hospital, which left Ainsley in the care of her maternal grandmother.

When she reached age ten, she started training with Stellar magic, the kind that ran on her mother and grandmother's side. Her parents had been against teaching her the kind of magic that had gotten so many people killed in the past. They'd intended for her to be a Wind Magi, like her father, but her grandmother wanted to pass on the art despite the danger that came with it.

She was proud of their lineage, but Annie herself has never been a big fan of having to sneak around and keep secrets.

Besides that, she faced the typical problems of growing up, like being picked on throughout middle and high school and suffering from self-confidence issues because of it. Her solace was getting lost in books, where she could pretend to be someone else: someone who was strong, self-assured, and actually did their math homework.

She aspired to go to college after highschool, possibly even to Blackwell Academy — but, considering their low status and issues with money, it was next to impossible. After graduation, she went to work, doing whatever jobs she could to make ends meet. Eventually she was hired by Madame Le Fay at her bookstore, where she's been working at going on three years.

Her grandmother also did work as an archivist until about a year ago, when she was forced to retire after a fall that broke her hip and fractured her ankle. Now she stays at home and is continuously fussed over by Ainsley.

A P P E A R A N C E

A pretty face to look at, though her beauty is nowhere near that of her oldest sister's. Kat's complexion is pretty pale, giving emphasis to her light blue eyes that are framed with thick lashes. Her hair, a muted red color, reaches down to her waist in neat waves, usually adorned with ribbons. In terms of height, she's slightly shorter than average, with a slim body type. She prefers most to wear blue or purple colors.


P E R S O N A L I T Y

While the youngest of her family, she doesn't behave in a childish or free-spirited way, at least not while under the watchful eyes of the public. She's quiet and doesn't typically go out of her way to start conversations or other interactions, but is well-mannered to those who come across her, if not a bit stiff. Most of the time she's in her sisters' shadows, tagging behind them as a group or individually, so it isn't often that one will get to hear more than a few words from her, which she doesn't mind. In all honesty, being social has never been her strong suit.

When she isn't 'performing' for the rest of high society, she's still much the same, just more laid-back and a tad bit outspoken. Where her middle sister Franci is energetic, always looking for something to do — like filling the parlor with piano music or adding more dashes of paint to her newest art piece — Kat is content with simple things. She's fine with sitting and reading a book, or going out to enjoy the peace of their garden.

She isn't headstrong and indepedent, yet dutiful, like her oldest sister Jazmin, either. She doesn't have strong opinions she's self-assured enough to make known, nor does she look for ways to stand out in the crowd. She's not the kind to dedicate herself fully to anything... unless her parents told her to. That doesn't mean she's very committed to finding herself a husband this season, though, no matter what married Jazmin or soon-to-be-married Franci have to say about the matter.


H I S T O R Y

Katalinka was the last of three sisters in a well-off Austro-Hungarian family. After a year of her mother struggling to become pregnant again, she was deemed the 'miracle child' of the family, though there was some disappointment when it was discovered that you were not a boy to pass possessions onto. Nevertheless she, as well as her sisters, were all very loved by their parents, even though they were often too preoccupied with business and climbing the social ladder to spend much time with them as children.

The one who was with them the most, besides their governess, was their paternal grandmother. Her and Kat were especially close, though. Whereas most of the attention was on her eldest sister and taming her individualistic spirit, or on her middle sister's artistic endeavors, their grandmother saw her. She was the one that encouraged Kat whenever she felt less important, invisible. When the older woman passed, the young girl was distraught over the loss of her biggest fan and confidant.

Just a year after, the patriarch announced that they'd be moving to England, where their printing business would be expanding to. All of the sisters were resistant, but there wasn't much they could do about the situation.

Her sister Jazmin was quickly thrust into the spotlight once their first social season came. While her looks garnered quite the attention, it took two seasons for her to actually get a proposal. It wasn't from a wealthy and influential man like their parents had hoped for, either. Once Franci turned seventeen, she too was put out onto the marriage market, where she stayed until just last season. She didn't manage to pull in a better match, either.

Now that her sisters have been given away, the spotlight falls onto Kat to make a somewhat late debut into high society. However, seeing that she doesn't have the talents of Franci or the dazzling looks of Jazmin, hopes of her being the one to marry above their station are running quite low...

'Beckett' is very short, only 4 feet 11 inches, and has a lithe build that offers little strength but plenty of agility. Their hair is black, cut short in a bob hairstyle, with straight fringe hanging above their eyes, which are dark brown but rarely seen by others. Often they can be encountered with goggles and a scarf covering the majority of their face. This tendency to hide their features can be attributed to the habits of the Children of the Fen.

They hail from the swamplands, where they were born and raised among the Children. The subject has reported to always have been interested in the Wasteland beyond their home, despite the dangers their isolated community warned them about, thus they took the first opportunity to leave. Their job was to find medicine, or some form of treatment, to stop the sickness spreading through their homeland, but almost a year has passed and they show no interest in returning.

They swear no allegiance to any other faction currently.

Besides the faction they originated from, their history and what they were up to before coming to New Miami thus far is unknown. Currently, they make a meager living by scavenging the Wasteland, trading what they find for caps or supplies.
Their main drive appears to be their own survival, like many other Wastelanders, as well as the freedom to do as they please. They don't take kindly to orders, but will carry them out if it's less troublesome than arguing, or if it would prove useful to them somehow. It's safe to assume that they have selfish intent behind most of their actions.
