I'm getting alerted every time someone posts in a clan discussion even though I never told it to follow that discussion. But now my alerts are being spammed and I see no way to stop following it.
 
I was having the same issue. You can disable them the same way you disable other alerts - in 'alert preferences.' It's at the very bottom.
