August Yilmaz
He couldn't believe it! Of all the things he could lose, he lost that.

How, where? August was at a loss. He had overhauled his room, dug into the trunks of his roommates, retraced every step he had taken today, and which he remembered from the previous days. How had he not noticed its disappearance until now? It was with him everyday, always.

Throwing a few pillows to the side the boy continued to look in the common room. Between the cushions, under the furniture, even in the heard. That he was covered in dust and ashes, and constantly sneezing, was something he ignored for now. He needed to find it!

"Bok," he mumbled out a curse to himself, kicking the air. Still nowhere to be seen. Hopelessness was setting in on him as he wondered if he would ever find it. It certainly didn't feel like it.

Tears were stinging behind his eyes, but he wasn't sure if it was the dust, or that he was overcome with emotions. Rubbing them away the boy tried to compose himself. It must be somewhere in the school.

She didn't mean to stay at the library for so long. Soon as classes were done, Kass bolted to the place to work on an essay assignment that was given to them. The plan was to go to the library, work on the paper, and then leave. Instead, she found herself distracted by another topic and before she knew it, Madam Pince was already announcing the library closing. Determined to stay on top of her schoolwork, Kass ended up checking out the heavy tomes she needed for her paper, hoping to be able to work on it in the common room when she got back.

Carrying the books was no easy feat for a small girl like Kass. In fact, the stack of books were just a bit taller than her, giving the Ravenclaw great difficulty in seeing her way.

"Wingardium Leviosa," she heard someone say. Suddenly, the weight was lifted from her hands. Before her the books began to float, still in their neat little stack. "Did you forget about the spell we learned during first year?"

Kass turned and found herself face to face with none other than the Zedekiah Blackbourne. "You're welcome by the way," he said with a bright and cheery grin. She looked from the floating books, to the wand in his hands controlling them, and then finally up at the Gryffindor's face. She had to admit, Zed was good at his spells.

"Why are you still out?" Kass finally asked.

"Quidditch practice ran late," he answered with a shrug. Before Kass could say anything else, Zed offered to walk her back to her common room to which she accepted. On the way, the two talked about why Kass was out late, how quidditch was, classes, etc.

Kass' friendship with Zed was something she enjoyed. As much of an idiot as the boy was, he meant well and was actually a pretty good friend. Guilt gnawed on her however. She knew that the only reason he's friendly to her is because he thinks she's pureblood thanks to her family name. It wasn't like she was trying to hide that she was a half-blood, it just... never occurred to her until the summer after, that her name may have been the reason for their friendship. By then, telling him the truth and risk losing their friendship became something unimaginable to her. She dreads the day that boy finds out.

When they got to the entrance, Zed slowly put down the books beside her and bid her goodnight. "Remember to use the spell instead of carrying them!" he called back as he left. Kass couldn't help but smile and shake her head at this. Once the boy was gone, she took his advise and cast the spell on the books, once again making them float, before answering the riddle and entering.

She had only taken a few steps in before she was stopped on her tracks by what she saw. The room was a mess with pillows strewn all over the floor. "What in the world..." she mumbled as she cautiously stepped further inside. That was when she noticed a boy with brown hair in the centre of it all. "Uhm... Are you alright?"

August flushed red as he realised someone had walked into the ravage he created. He hadn't anticipated on students being up this late at night, especially not fellow classmates. The prefects did a room check every other night to see if all of the students were in their rooms as per their curfew. However, it seemed that the check-up rounds weren't as strict in the girl's dormitory as Kassandra stood in front of him, confused over the mess.

"Uh, I..." he started, a little ashamed that he was caught in his search. There was no reason to throw everything over just because he lost something. He could have kept the common room tidy and the result was all the same. Yet, here he was.

"I lost my talisman," the foreigner continued to explain, accent thick in his voice in frustration and fatigue. "But it isn't here," he followed, and his shoulders slumped.

The sound of his defeated voice tugged at her heartstrings. Whatever that talisman was, it must've been pretty important to him. Losing something so valuable, Kass understood why he would turn the place upside down just to find it. If she had lost something so important, she'd have probably done the same.

Unfortunately, it seemed that his efforts had so far been fruitless and he was now on the verge of tears.

"Sorry to hear that," she said softly. Kass put down the books she had with her on an empty table and sat on one of the now pillow-less sofas. She patted the space beside her, urging him to sit down. "I want to help you look for your talisman. Can you tell me what it looks like?"

Picking up a few pillows the Ravenclaw started to clean up, red high on his cheeks as he avoided Kass's eyes. Help was much appreciated, but the boy was still embarrassed from the state in which he was caught.

When she asked if she could help the boy fell silent for bit, before gathering the words and courage to speak. "It is an eye-shaped amulet, dark blue in colour, with an eyes drawn on it in white and light blue," he described, chewing his lip as he did so.

Pausing his cleaning for a bit the boy straightened up, facing the other. "Thank you," he told the girl, managing a small smile before continuing fixing the ravage he had made.

"Eye-shaped, dark blue, with white and light blue eyes," she mumbled to herself, repeating August's description of the talisman as she tried to commit it to memory. She tried to recall if she's seen the thing some place else, but unfortunately nothing came to mind. It was then that she'd noticed that the boy had been cleaning up after himself. She felt slightly embarrassed as she sat there while he was cleaning.

Suddenly, the boy stopped and turned to face her. This made Kass slightly worried. For a moment, she thought he was about to call her out for not helping with clean up--even though it wasn't really her mess to begin with. She was relieved when he'd thanked her with a smile. Adorable, she thought as she found herself smiling back.

Kass then stood up and picked up one of the pillows from the floor. "Let me help you with cleaning this up. You might be up all night if you do it alone." She tried teasing him at the last bit but suddenly became flustered. "Ah! Not that I mean you're slow at cleaning! Uhm... I just... Nevermind the last bit that I said!"

She now felt incredibly embarrassed, not only for trying to tease someone who was an acquaintance at best, but also for the floundering apology she gave after.

As Kass helped August clean up, she remembered a question that she wanted to ask earlier relating to the talisman. "August?" she tentatively called out to him. "Quick question, when was the last time you saw your talisman?"

"I..." the boy tried to think of when he last saw the talisman, but couldn't quite recall. How careless of him, to lose it just like that, without any knowledge of where and when.

"I usually carry it with me, I remember putting it between the pages of our Defence Against Dark Arts book, but other than that, nothing," he admitted, feeling ashamed on how he couldn't give her a straight answer.

Picking up another pillow he quickly resumed the cleaning, walking around the girl hastily. "Don't worry about me, I will manage, you should get some sleep," he told the girl. He paused again, feeling that he was forgetting something. A light went up in his head and he took a step back, pulling out his handsome silverlime.

"After all, there is magic," he softly exclaimed, a smile on his face for the first time that night. Mumbling a soft spell he then pointed at the chaos surrounding him, watching with glee how everything went back to its original state.

He should have thought of this before.

"Goodnight, Kassandra," he told the girl once he was done cleaning. "Thank you, again," he followed and then quickly escaped the stairs towards the dormitory. He supposed he didn't have to warn the girl about the dangers of being caught.

Kass wanted to hide in a hole; for the second time the evening, she forgot that they could do magic. It's been a while since she's been introduced to the wizarding world, yet the habit of doing things the muggle way was still ingrained in her. Perhaps one day that'll change, but right now she doubted it.

She waved back a good night at August and followed his example of heading back to the dormitories with her books in tow—this time remembering to use the levitation charm.

The young Ravenclaw did her best to keep her footsteps quiet. The last thing she wanted to do was wake anyone up and get in trouble for still being up so late. When the door to her room creaked as she tried to open it, she cringed and stopped, leaving it open halfway ajar. The room was dark, the only source of light being the dim moonlight shining through the window. It was hard to tell whether or not she'd woken up her ginger roommate.

Kass slowly and carefully entered and closed the door. First thing she did was guide her books to her bedside table, making sure to place them down slowly and carefully, trying to avoid making any sound. A sense of pride filled her when she managed to do it successfully. Feeling a surge of confidence, Kass began walking to bed. Unfortunately, she wasn't paying attention to where she walked and tripped on something. It sent her crashing down to the floor with a resounding thud. If her roommate hadn't already been awake, she was mostly certain her ungraceful fall would've done the trick.

She huffed, both in frustration of her efforts of stealth being wasted, and in anger of Millicent leaving her things lying around yet again. It may have been to hasty of her to say that the object that tripped her was Millie's, but she was about 99% certain it belonged to her roommate.

Curious as to what exactly had tripped her, Kass looked by her feet and narrowed her eyes when she found that it was a stone. Why would a stone even be in their room? She pushed herself to a sitting position, grabbed the object and examined it closely. It looked a bit like the talisman that August had described, though it was rather hard to tell for certain due to the dim lighting. But if it was the talisman, what was it doing in their room?

Kass frowned and stashed the stone in her pocket. She'll ask August tomorrow, to confirm whether or not the stone is indeed the missing talisman.

Jolted by what sounded like a loud thud, Millie's eyes instinctively flew open. Disconcerted, she raised her head from the pillow to look for the source of the noise, only to find her roommate sitting in the darkness.

"What are you doing?" She managed to croak out a barely audible inquiry, when she noticed something glint in Kass' palm. Sitting up, she gave the small object a closer look, squinting. Then, without another moment spared, she continued, "That's mine, probably."

Walking over to where Kass sat, Millie took the talisman and shoved it into her pocket. With one big, long yawn, she trudged back to bed.

"Would you please try to be quiet next time?" She added as an aside, crawling into her sheets. It wasn't an aggressive remark, at least not to the barely conscious Millie, but something more framed as a request.

"What are you doing?"

Kass jumped slightly at the sleepy voice that suddenly spoke. She turned her head and saw that her redhead roommate was now awake. She was about to apologise for waking her up when she noticed where her roommate was now looking at. Instantly, she felt her body go rigid. Part of her was hoping the girl wouldn't recognise what it was, but alas, she knew that was all but wishful thinking as the girl claimed ownership of it.

Her heartbeat began to increase when the girl got out of bed and began to make her way towards her. A cloud passed by, blocking the moon and the light it shone into the room. It was far too dim for her tell whether or not the girl was mad. She would think that she was given that she did catch her trying to pocket something that wasn't hers.

"I--" She tried to think of something, anything she could say to try and defend herself, but she was tongue-tied. Kass clenched her free hand into a fist, preparing herself for whatever her roommate was about to say.

But nothing came.

Millie merely took the stone off her and shoved it into her own pocket. Relief flooded through her as she watched her hop back into bed. "Would you please try to be quiet next time?" Millie said before drifting back to sleep.

As relieved as she was that the girl made no comments about her being caught red-handed, she was slightly miffed at the girl's last words.

Kass sighed and got up from her place on the floor. Her plan to ask August to confirm if the stone she'd found was indeed the talisman he was looking for was now foiled. There was still the possibility that it truly did belong to Millie. It was also possible that maybe August lent it to her and forgot that he did? She shook her head. Somehow that didn't seem right to her.

Following Millie's example, Kass crawled into bed. When morning comes, she'll tell August what she saw in their dorm room. Perhaps that would help jog a memory.

Timeskip: The Early Bird Gets The Worm
MORNING HAS BROKEN and the Ravenclaw students awaken with the help of the ever so diligent prefects ushering the rest to be in time for their classes.

While most of the students had their needed hours of sleep a particular few are still groggy from the night before. Whether it was due to late night cramming sessions, moonlight ponders or dark alley walks, there were a few groggy. However, ready for the day they shall be!

Breakfast went and past, but the amulet is still lost. The evil eye has opened and is looking for its target. It is the object looking for its owner once more...
