They called him Light. In truth, he was anything but such. "Light" was a god, a mortal that had accomplished transcendence. He was the first of the gods of this world, and as his reward he was allowed to gain a single wish which would become a truth of reality.

Light chose power, and as such he was granted an ability called "Genesis Fate." Once a year, at midnight on New Year's Eve, he was able to speak a series of three words. This was effectively his new year's resolution, and the next year, events on the mortal plane would be affected by the three chosen words. As you can probably tell by now, Light chose the words "Slaughter", "Chaos" and "Despair".

He did not get to decide on which order they were carried out though. As a result, the first word to be resolved was Chaos. 5 further gods came into existence before the thirtieth day of the fourth month, and each was also granted a power. In the next 4 months, Slaughter was the word of the season. 34% of all living creatures were completely wiped out, and each killing was merciless and certainly not conservative on bloody displays. September, October, November and December on the other hand, were relatively dull. Just a bunch of grief stricken peasants living in poverty and pig shit.

Terribly unimpressed with the events that unfolded in the past year, Light chose the same 3 words on the next year. Thinking himself clever, he decided he knew how to control the order of the words, so he replaced it with "Chaos", "Slaughter" and then "Despair."

As if to mock him, Chaos still went first. During this period of 4 months, each god was given the powers of each other god, and fun was had by all. (More detail after i decide the specifics of all the gods.) By April, 7 new species had come into existence in the mortal plane, and all current mortals had doubled in population size. On the other hand, they had halved in courage, power and wisdom, while the 7 newly established species grew tremendously in the same areas that mortals had withered. (races also listed below.) Oh yeah, Shadow also told all races in the mortal plane how to tap into magical energies, but that's a story for another paragraph.

It is now thursday the twelfth of may, 1224, and it just so happens that tomorrow is a full, blood, moon.

OK so essentially, this RP is just a way for people to have fun roleplaying as semi-immortal monsters of the night who're getting up to things of many kinds which may or may not involve destroying the godly plane. I kinda want people to take this seriously and not play overpowered, but at the same time i want it to feel a bit like Hellsing and Castlevania LOS 2 - extremely powerful beings on both sides. If you're interested, or feel you may be interested at some point, then please say so. I'll also accept characters here, but they'll have to be reposted on the official OOC so they're more organised later on. I'll be accepting up to 6 people on any one "side" (IE up to 6 good guys and up to 6 bad guys.) Also it may have a few humorous elements just to take a break from the heavy destructive themes.

The Gods:

Light:
True Name: Hayatama
Regional Names: Light
Circumstances/date of first existence: Basically, he was walking through the woods one day, being an exile and all, and stumbled upon an interesting, glowing, white cube. Apparently when he touched it he kinda turned into a god.
Sex/Gender: Male
Abilities:
Genesis Fate (choose 3 words, those words come true during the next year.)
Symbols: Often related to the white light given off by magnesium torches.
Relationship with mortals: Light used his power to command great masses into following him. They all despise him, but for some reason feel unable to stop being devoted to him.
Relationships with other pantheon members: Has a deep hatred for the other gods, who he thinks are trying to dethrone him.

Shadow
True Name: Misaki
Regional Names: Shadow
Circumstances/date of first existence: She was sacrificed as a virgin by extremist followers of Light. Fate decided that in order to fill Light's wish for chaos, then there should be more gods, and who is more fitting than the benevolent Misaki?
Sex/Gender: Female
Abilities:
Immortal Evolution (Can use her power to manipulate the natural progression of the evolution of a species. This can be indirectly responsible for creating new races, and is the only way for semi-immortals to exist.)
Symbols: The black flame created by the burning of a metal called Charsteel is always used in shrines devoted to her.
Relationship with mortals: She is generally considered the patron god of the 3 races she created - Vampires, Demons and Angels.
Relationships with other pantheon members: Has a romantic interest in Hurricane, and is hostile towards Light, who seems to be an almost exact opposite to herself.

Hurricane:
True Name: Kazeshiro
Regional Names: Hurricane
Circumstances/date of first existence: Hurricane became a god just before he should have died. Instead of being torn apart by a vicious cannibalistic bandit, he was offered immortality.
Sex/Gender: male
Abilities:
Wind of Fortune (Grants unnaturally gained knowledge to certain targets. It is how Shadow alerted mortals to the presence of usable mana.)
Symbols: Hurricane followers use a green flame to represent their god.
Relationship with mortals: Generally, Hurricane is seen as a distant figure, as he only interferes in mortal affairs when he takes a specific interest in a surface dweller.
Relationships with other pantheon members: Tries to avoid Shadow, due to her overly excitable nature. Is pretty much neutral towards Light, as he hasn't directly done any harm to him.

Tidal:
True Name: (what the entity hails xirself as)
Regional Names: (what those that worship xir use)
Circumstances/date of first existence: (did xe always exist or was xe created/summoned to this plane/born at a later date?)
Sex/Gender:
Appearance:
(in their "default setting")
History: (xe is a pretty powerful person, so xe's probably been involved in a lot of crap. Sum up what xe's been doing with xir life.)
Alternate forms: (shapeshifter, ability to appear mortal, non-physical manifestation...)
Abilities: (full on godliness, or more specific?)
Symbols: (For example, the connection between Athena and the olive tree or Thor and his hammer or Jesus and his cross)
Relationship with mortals: (does xe have a cult? a full religion? is xe feared as a demonic/evil entity?)
Relationships with other pantheon members: (remember, at least two! Pantheons have to feature interconnections between their members or they aren't really much of a pantheon at all.)

Inferno:
True Name: (what the entity hails xirself as)
Regional Names: (what those that worship xir use)

Sentient Races (and things that are usually subraces but are being treated as races for the purpose of this RP):

Human:
Name: Homo Sapiens
Average life span: 70 years
Gender differences: Females are generally of a smaller stature than males. Females also tend to have a lower social standing and are looked down upon. Men are usually the ones that do the physical labour.
Potential Magic Types ( "()"indicates strength of element when used.): Earth (strong), Fire (weak), Air (weak), water (medium).
Key specifics of race: Humans are generally considered pointless by the other races, despite being by far the most populous, with over 560 million in existence throughout the world.
Race's position in history: Humans were the only thing around for quite a long time, and as such have populated all but the most remote of locations, spreading their various cultures throughout the land.

Dragon:
Name: Draconis Draconis
Average life span: 600 years
Gender differences: Males are approximately 50% bigger than their female relatives, however, contrary to humans, leading members of the society are usually female. The females are responsible for hunting and making important decisions, while the males are generally left to teaching the young how to take care of themselves, and creating dwellings etc. Males are often kept around by females to intimidate dragons of other tribes.
Potential Magic Types: Fire (extreme), Air (medium), Arcane (strong)
Key specifics of race: Dragons have wings and they can fly. They enjoy spreading terror into the mortal subjects in their dominions. All dragons live in tribes and family sense is strong in them. Exiled dragons are unheard of as any exile will quickly be adopted by another tribe. Tribes are generally aggressive to any dragon that controls an area of land, as this threatens their own control.
Race's position in history: Dragons quickly dominated the mountainous east regions they were created in, and were the first of the mortal races to develop a reliable magic ability. Despite their reputation, they rarely hunt on humans and prefer to eat the far more nutritious angels, which only pose a slightly greater threat.

Demon:
Name: Demons go by many names to different cultures. Most common are "demon", "devil" and "Oni".
Average life span: 75 years (worker demon), 160 years (drone demon), 800 years (noble demon), 1400 years (honoured demon)
Gender differences: Demons are a very civilised race, and have already accepted that in order to be a viable species they needed to eradicate things like prejudice and descrimination. It worked.
Potential Magic Types: Chaos (strong), Fire (strong), Earth (strong, worker only.), Arcane (strong, non-worker only.)
Key specifics of race: Most demons greatly admire the elegance the human form holds, and as such, take on a humanoid form when possible. They do however, all possess the ability to transform into monstrous, 18 foot tall terrors, if necessary. The demon civilisations work similar to that of an ant colony. Worker demons are born worker demons, and their jobs are defined since birth. Worker demons are raised much like humans, and gain work mainly as the lower classes of jobs: miners, builders, teachers, etc. Drones are born and raised as soldiers, though are also raised alongside workers when possible to ensure they still have personality. Noble demons function much like workers, and are raised in the same way, however are naturally more gifted towards the noble types of work, and become lawyers, politicians and clerics. To become an honoured demon, one must go through a ceremony, during which a populace of 1000 other demons must all accept that that demon is worthy of transforming into an honoured one.
Race's position in history: Contrary to their Dragonic allies, the demons' main source of sustainance is humans. Smaller towns harvest regularly from human settlements, while larger cities actually have entire cave systems dedicated to growing herds of humans. They took this idea from watching the humans farm their cattle.

Vampire:
Name: (insert original race name here) vampiris.
Average life span: immortal, and therefore cannot die of natural causes.
Gender differences: Vampires are ageless beings, and respect authority based on deeds, not the meaningless things mortals apply to gender. That being said, vampires often still find romantic attraction to those of the opposite, (or the same) gender.
Potential Magic Types: Blood (extreme), Chaos (strong), Arcane (strong).
Key specifics of race: Vampires are easily the most powerful beings on the mortal plane and do not struggle to overpower an opponent, assuming they are appropriately experienced and creative. In exchange for this power, vampires are cursed with immortality. They are dealt great pain from consuming food, and can only consume liquids. They quickly become savage if unable to get regular access to blood (of any mortal race), and are particularly vulnerable to sunlight and fire. As a result, they tend to move outside their walls only during night time. The garlic thing is a myth, even within this myth, as is the wooden stake thing. They'll take just as much damage from a metal stake or a sharpened carrot.
Race's position in history: Vampires are an unsubtle race, and often go out of their way to strike terror into mortal prey. As such, they have developed quite a reputation, despite only being in existence for 3 months. (Tidal controls the flow of time though, so those last 3 months have had the political changes of about 800 years. Vampires etc all have a good standing in political affairs, though have all played their part in preventing any one race from becoming too powerful, but eliminating any post 1300 engineering.)
