Since the time Japan occupied Korea, there has always been feuding between the respective street gangs and organized syndicates. Bad blood was not easily forgotten and to this day the Khangpae clash with the Yakuza. From juvenile delinquents to senior mafia, it is learned to loathe the opposing factor.
∴
the KHANGPAE 깡패
Korean "thugs" that first rose to power in the late 19th century. From unorganized street gangs consisting mostly of jobless men and rebellious teens to mafia with members in political positions and trained assassins, they've asserted themselves as dangerous and worthy of fear.
∴
the YAKUZA ヤクザ
First formed in the 1600's (mid Edo Period) as either gamblers or fraudulent peddlers. They started as one of the lowest social groups but gained power throughout decades of perseverance. The Yakuza are very traditional and ritualistic, so much so that some outsiders even respect them.
