A redhead, just as he'd thought.
Caleb watched the girl with interest, his eyes studying her just as freely as she did him and without shame or embarrassment. She was the second human he'd met, but she seemed vastly different from Lauren and he found himself smiling as she flitted about, quick as a sprite and twice as lively. Her presence made him happy and he didn't even know why, but it also didn't matter. It just was and Caleb was okay with accepting that for now.
He'd grow more curious about it later, but for now he only felt content.
She is the fourth. The voice came quietly then, almost as if it were trying to avoid detection by something.
I know.
What else do you know?
Her name is Lily.
She told you that. the voice said, slightly impatient and Caleb nearly laughed out loud. Yes, but I already knew before she told me.
And? You know more. There was almost a prompt there, but Caleb's head was starting to hurt and he was already retreating from the mental conversation, not wanting the pain to spike again. I don't want to look. She can tell me.
Silence came after and Caleb focused back on Lily, chuckling at her description of his brother as he sat, cross-legged and completely fine watching her dance about. He liked seeing joy in other people and the smile on her face looked like it could rival the sun. "I am called Caleb and the man with the magic is my brother, Jacob. He is very talented." He looked around then, smiling once more at the life around them and then looked back at Lily, tilting his head much like a canine might when confused.
"Did you follow us from the city? Or do you live near here?"
