Shadowhunters: The Blood War (The Mortal Instruments-based roleplay)

The Shadow World has seen two and a half decades since the downfall of Sebastian Morgenstern. Shadowhunters and Downworlders have finally learned to work together; they now coexist peacefully, working together to keep the mundane world safe from demons. Marriage between Shadowhunters and Downworlders is now legal. The Clave has long accepted their LGBT members. The hidden world could not be happier.

When Sebastian Morgenstern was brought down, the Shadowhunters believed they had faced the most dangerous enemy in their race's history. Now, twenty-five years later, another deadly, seemingly unstoppable enemy has arisen from the darkness shrouding Earth; Almaric Blacke, a murderous half-breed, the product of a freak experiment enacted by traitor followers of Valentine and Sebastian Morgenstern. Almaric had been injected with the blood of demons and angels, as well as the blood of all four Downworlder species, while still a fetus, granting him with the dark powers of each six blood sources. Almaric's goal is to avenge himself, to wreak justice upon the angelic race that had made him into the monster that he is. With no one in the world like him, Almaric has created an army of Forsaken, enhanced with Downworlder blood to make them stronger and faster than the Shadowhunters.

The Clave, in a frenzy to stop Almaric before he stages a complete war with the Shadow World, has assembled a small force consisting of the best young Shadowhunters of the generation, led by war heroes Clary and Jace Herondale, Simon (who has become a Shadowhunter and is parabatai with Clary) and Isabelle Lewis, Alec Lightwood and the warlock Magnus Bane. The war heroes have trained the small group to fight Almaric's army of Black Knights and save both the Shadow World and the mundane world alike.

NOTES (MUST READ)

- You may play the child of the war heroes (Clary and Jace's kids, Simon and Isabelle's kids or the adopted children of Aline and Helen or Magnus and Alec) though only a maximum of two, and you must ask me first.
- You may play one war hero, but you must ask me first. If no one wants to play the war heroes, I will do it, in addition to my own characters.
- To confirm you read the notes, please type 'Jem Carstairs' at the end of your skeleton/s.
- Your characters may be parabatai.
- Your characters may be half-bloods (eg. half Shadowhunter, half faerie). If so, you this must be included in the bloodlines part of the character skeleton.

Elizabeth is a highly reactive and moody person who is initially cold and hostile towards others before gradually showing them her warm side. Unlike her twin, Elizabeth loved her academics and was taught by Simon how to handle her weapon, the chain scythe. She killed her first demon at the age of 10 while she was on her way home from the lake and the demon blood got into her hair. She doesn't like battles but she doesn't hate it either.

The note told Vince that this was his daughter and that the little girl needed to be raised as a Shadowhunter. Vince settled into parenthood immediately. Ailsa is about five feet in height, and thin and graceful. Her face is angled and her eyes are a bright green, and slightly upturned, and her skin is pale. Her hair is thick, wavy, and bright red, and her nose is small and slightly upturned. Her fingers are longer than average and thin, and she has a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Her ears are pointed under her hair.

She prefers to wear short black dresses with short flowing sleeves, leather braces that stop just short of her elbows, light gray leggings, a belt around her waist to hold her stele and a few knives, and knee-high combat boots. She doesn't much care for practicality in her clothing because she can and will fight in just about anything. There are hidden pockets in all her clothes to hide more knives, because she's fond of hidden weapons, hidden knives in particular.

She's very clever, and she enjoys puzzles and word games. She's intelligent, and she has a fondness for doing things she probably shouldn't and breaking rules she considers stupid or useless, although her parabatai Daniel is usually around to reign her in and keep her out of trouble. She tends to be reckless in fights, and will dive right into things with little to no consideration for her safety, although she's careful in fights to look out for Daniel, and part of her recklessness comes from knowing he has her back. Despite this, she really doesn't enjoy fighting demons, and treats it as a thing she knows she has to do and only does because she knows she has to. She trusts very few people, and doesn't trust easily, and the only person she tells everything to is Daniel. Despite this lack of trust, she falls in love easily, although she also falls out of love easily, and tends to have a different crush every week. She's willful and if she has an idea she thinks is good, she'll be deadly serious about it, and if she ever really fell for someone, she'd be deadly serious about that too. She doesn't talk too much because she prefers to think and then do rather than discuss things with anyone, and she tends to expect Daniel to just know what she's doing and keep up with her, although since he can read her like a book he usually has a pretty good idea of what she's going to do. Despite her quiet and reckless manner, she often seems a little melancholy, and this comes from the fact that she is clinically depressed. She's been diagnosed with clinical depression, and some of her recklessness probably comes from the fact that she doesn't much care anymore if she lives or dies. Few people know of her depression; in fact, right now Daniel's the only one who knows. Ailsa tends to be escapist in nature, and she reads a lot in order to try and forget what her life is like, because most of her family considers her a shame (partly for being half fey and partly for being born out of wedlock), and she sometimes tires of doing nothing but fighting demons and has something of a death wish because of it, and it's nice for her to be able to escape all the thoughts and depression and responsibility of being a Shadowhunter.

Her mother mostly ignored her, and passed her off to a nanny, and married a respectable Shadowhunter man named Dakon Dragonway, and had twins, a girl and a boy, Lina and Josh. Ailsa grew up watching them get all the attention and somewhere along the line began to think that maybe they were all right and she wasn't worth much, and as a result she has low self esteem. However, this pushed her to train harder and try harder and hope that maybe if she became a great Shadowhunter they would accept her, so she's an excellent fighter and tracker. It didn't gain her much attention in her family yet, though.
When she was eleven, she met Daniel, and promptly kicked his ass when he challenged her to a fight. They became really close friends, and when they were fifteen, they became parabatai. Daniel knows everything about her family situation, her depression, and her low self esteem, and he does what he can to help her and keep her out of trouble and he's determined to keep her alive, and if she ever gets too low he's promised to be there to talk to her and help her through it. Ailsa cares about Daniel more than anyone else in the world.

She has a thick skin against remarks about her fairy blood, because she grew up hearing them, but she can't stand people who think it makes her less of a Shadowhunter or the few who would question her loyalty because of it. She's not the most responsible person despite her calm and collected nature, and tends to be forgetful, although she doesn't worry much if she does forget something, because she's been trained to handle most situations, even ones where she doesn't have a weapon. She worries some, though, for her friends and family and parabatai, because they lead dangerous lives. She's never reckless, but she is always in her element in a fight, because it is what she was trained for. One night, unfortunately, a demon attacked, killing her family and leaving only Celena alive, because she'd hidden and the demon couldn't find her. She got lucky, and then she was adopted in Idris by Aline and Helen, who loved her and did their best to raise her. She does love her adoptive family, and realizes she's lucky to have them, but she still harbors a grudge over what happened to her family, and she'll never really get over the night they were taken from her, and as a result has a hatred for all demons.
When she was in school, she met Sienna, and it started off with Celena approaching Sienna, who she thought seemed lonely, and basically going, "...hi there! I'm Celena. Who are you?" and asking if she wanted to be friends. From there, the two grew closer and closer, until Sienna asked Celena if she wanted to be parabatai, to which Celena excitedly said yes.

He was raised by his parents to be the warrior, when his little sisters were born he was changed to be a protector. Regardless of which of them he always kept their interests in mind, of course poking jabs at them from time to time but always watching their backs. He grew up bigger than his sisters and had a naturally large build, so when Sienna sprouted up to 6ft he was naturally unhappy with his now only 1 inch gain.

Unlike the twins he was raised as a fighter. And he himself truly believes his only purpose is to fight and to die if necessary for his family. He killed his first demon when he was 12 and has been enjoying the Shadow Hunter craft since then. He has become a vital tool to the Conclave and has served flawlessly.

.:Personality:. Nicholas is a warrior at heart, he fights hard and will spend his last breath in the service of his cause. He fights hard and loves equally as strong. He doesnt have much room for casual friends so he adopts his family quickly. He may not like his companions and but he will always put his life on the line for any of them. He can on occasion come off as a stony individual but thats purely his exterior, at heart he is a teddy bear.

.:Personal History:. Born to be a warrior, his father a Shadowhunter with incredibly prowess taught him from birth to be a killer. At the age of 16 he had his first encounter with demons, some followed him home. They waited to attack until his father had returned from his work. Nikolai and his father fought for some time but eventually they just couldnt anymore, Nikolai's father grabbed him and threw him out one of the windows and proceeded to fight until he met his end. Since Nikolai joined the New York Conclave and has served faithfully and flawlessly as a Shadowhunter.

Accepted. In regards to your bloodline question, the Fairchilds actually don't have many living members (Jocelyn and Clary Fray are the only known ones in the entire series). If you want to stick to canon bloodlines we'd have to dig very deep, as I cannot think of any canon bloodlines with a large amount of members right off the top of my head. You could always simply make up a bloodline, like most of us have done. One of my characters is a Lightwood/Lewis, along with @DANAsaur 's character. If you wish, Nikolai could be their brother, but you'd have to change a lot (AND I MEAN A LOT) about his character (if that's okay with you, Dana).
