Two will be allowed if the interest of the game's interest dwindles down to the point that 7 pirates aren't possible to be played by seven people. At that point, sure, multiple characters I'm all for. Until then I want to give everyone the availability to join the roleplay and contribute. So in short, yes but give it a little bit more time before I open up that option.

Only thing I ask is that you keep up with said characters if that comes to be a thing.

I hope your headache gets better!

Alright, thanks ;3 Understandable. Granted it'd be great to play the two I'm hoping for, I really hope your RP gets enough for 7 individuals X3 The more the merrier, aye?

Well thanks for making the post and suggestions. I don't really have confirmed knowledge of that Era, only the general sense. I would love it if you helped me in the creative process to see what makes sense and what doesn't and such. It would be nice if we could get on an instant chat like skype or something similar because it would probably go faster than if we were posting back on forth here.

I can't really give a big reply right now due to tiredness / busyness. So sorry in advance that I didn't post anything related to redeveloping the character.

jin_arms_crossed1_by_bamboofoxfire-d5xr5s0.jpg
Name: "Hellion" Jin Layken
Age: 27 years
Ethnicity: Arabic/Japanese
Appearance: A somewhat tall woman with sunkissed, tan skin and sleek black hair, framed bob-cut bangs in the front and often long and braided in the back. Though brown her eyes can appear an almost blood-red in just the right light, like that of monsters you only hear of in Tales, and with the same piercing intensity that can intimidate all but the bravest of men. She is no wallflower, finely muscled for a woman of the era and not one to dress frivelously, practicality is first and foremost in attire, and more often then not she loves to leave the jagged scar down her right arm in view for all to see. Though not a total, greasy slob she doesn't care for being primped up or "squeeky clean" so a little dirt and grime from working or doing physical tasks doesn't bother her in the least.
Personality: A pirate in every sense of the word and a very charismatic spitfire, 'boundaries' and 'authority' never seems to be a word that fits into her vocabulary or actions. She loves the freedom of the pirate life and doesn't take charge from anyone, doing what she pleases and when she pleases, often making various people unhappy. She isn't afraid to get her hands a little dirty instead of making others do her dirty work, and is more than a little bossy when she wants to take charge or have someone follow her lead. Despite that she can seem flippant and rather uncaring, she surprises people, especially those with a harsher exterior and the belief that she's just a control freak or wouldn't care if they got killed, when she let's out her softer side and tries to consol them or sympathize with their plight. Of course this can often be forgotten by her rather explosive, reckless, and often seen as controlling personality when she gets them into dangerous or sticky situations. She's a woman who knows what she wants though, her eye always on the mark and never flip-flops or is indecisive.
History/Former occupation: To really get a good picture of her we have to start from before the beginning. Jin's father, though not of royalty or the highest status, was a man of wealth and status in Kuwait, the northeastern state of the Kingdom of Arabia. More specifically, he made his home near where the major Parthian port Characene was once located, and his wealth and status was amassed by - you guessed it - Piracy. Though the promise of wealth and excitement was an allure all it's own, what the man really enjoyed was knowledge of new places and exploration, which took him across much of the world's oceans. One of these places was the isolated island nation of Nihon, and the capital city, Kyoto. There he found that he was rather fond of the women of the country, and through much befriending and bribing of the Noble and royal families with the wealth that he had, managed to essentially trade/buy up a few concubines of his choosing, and ended up taking them with him. Some of them didn't survive the sea, but those that did came to stay at his home in Kuwait. His favorite of these women eventually had a fiery baby girl, which was and would continue to be his only child. For the first many years Jin was left to his home in Kuwait, but as she grew she proved to be more of a handful and shared a love and desire for the sea and new places much like her father. Her rather rough-and-tumble nature was not condusive to the Arabic culture as a female, but luckily enough it didn't prove to be much of a problem when she was finally allowed on her father's ship where the sea had no such cultural laws of how a woman must act, and she was treated much more like a son than a daughter. She was practically a born natural for the pirate life and time and again she proved she could hold her own just as well as any boy or man well into her teen years and early adult, to the point that most on board ceased to think of her as female. It was one of the attacks on their ship when Piracy was outlawed that claimed her father's life when she took the helm as captain of his ship, the Red Thunder Eclipse. Though the ship survived and was not taken, she only saw about a year as captain before it was decided amongst many of the crew, which she viewed much more like a family, and herself that it would be safer for all to disband, as much as it pained many of them who had grown up on the sea -- many hoped that Piracy might gain it's second wind after the initial fall of the Golden Age in which they might meet up again, barring complications, and went their seperate ways after making port. Though it was not a decision that Jin ever fully accepted and only half-heartedly agreed to, she respected many of the crew's decision and couldn't ever see herself taking on a different crew than the one she had literally grown up with, which is why she didn't continue the lifestyle and simply find a different group to pirate with, loyalty being a strong trait(and rare one, in her 'profession') that she carries strongly.

Current Occupation: Jin finds it difficult if not nearly impossible to find anything that satisfies as much or fills the void of having left behind her days as a pirate. She occupies herself with many different things if only to distract from her sense of yearning. One of the things she does is gun-smithing, having always had a love for the mechanics that go into them and tries to develop cleaner-shooting, better guns than those already out there, experimenting around a lot with different building techniques and styles of guns. As a bit of an after-effect she often tests them out in the field with hunting, either on foot or horseback, and what she hunts/kills she uses what she wants and trades the rest. One the side and a bit more secretly she also deals in the trade of information and the black market, trying to hold onto what little remnants of the shady business and pirate trade as she can.

Itch: Though she does find her experimenting with creating better guns and her black market trade enjoyable, they aren't enough to quell the monotony, predictability, and uneventfulness of what she considers a "boring landlubber life". What she really loves about the pirate life and craves to return to besides the sea itself is the knife's edge of danger and unpredictability. It can safely be said that she's a definite adrenaline junky and the life of a pirate is the only way to live, to her.

Quote: (Can't think of anything at the moment XD I'll update when I think of something).

Hope this form meets your expectations =3 Drop me a note if anything seems too out-of-place and I'll see how I can fix it up.

Alright, now I will reply about the character with greater detail. I am awake... Least I think so. ( DUN DUN DUUUN )

I see most of what you were saying. ( Honestly I didn't put to much thought into the anonymous thing or the how he got into the business. ) I think a couple parts need to be reworked, specifically the arriving into the world of being a thug / hired killer and the mysterious / known for his work thing. So what I would like to do is possibly go through a brainstorming session ( Probably in PMs. ) for the coming of age part and then scrap the reputation thing almost entirely.

So for the security company, I think I can do most of the writing for that ( Detail wise. ), in-fact I will right now :D How about that? Yay skillz. ( Slightly bored. Figured I might spruce up the sentence a bit. )

( If anything I write below doesn't fit with the setting / historically factual thing tell me because I'm writing off of very little knowledge. )

No worries at all. My skype is "TheCosmicWeinerDog" Location: Las Cruces. I'd be more than happy to help out.

So I like the Cromwell Uniformed Service idea. I like the idea of it being a paramilitary organization for hire and am interested in how you explained it through an ad campaign.

Keep in mind, The Maroons were not terribly drenched in wealth and will probably not offer much in way of revenue for our assistance. Considering this, It's likely the entirety of your agency wouldn't be activated. Something like this can be an interesting plot point in the telling of the story. Refine the points mentioned in the previous piece and this will be a wonderful addition to the RP :D

The Great Me: Your sheet looks rawkin. Way to be different in your conception. You don't have to do this, but there were several cases in the golden age of piracy where women dressed as men in order to continue a lifestyle of plundering on the high seas. As said, you don't have to do this, but if you were looking for something to add to your character, there's plenty of examples of this through history:

http://www.noblesandcourtiers.org/famous-women-pirates.htm
That being said, one of the plot points for the story will be the fact that the Maroons will only be able to gather up a limited crew. Because of this a woman on the ship would be a matter of needs overweighing tradition. If you didn't want to run that route, there would be certainly room for it to cause tension and character depth in breaking social norms.

Unless someone joins up with something dramatically dramatically different (Like a former officer in the Spanish Armada or an acting member of the English occupation force in Tortuga) You're going to be my black sheep of the crew I mentioned in red before.

Haha, thanks. She doesn't really "disguise herself as a man" so much. I mean, she dresses manly but it's more of a dislike for dresses and the frilly than trying to pretend to be male XD She's just masculine-ish

And the black sheep, eh? I somehow feel like I just unintentionally dropped in a character equivalent to filling the void of Kikuchiyo or something xD Now that I think about it. Well, not entirely like Kikuchiyo, maybe like Kikuchiyo meets Kambei or Goroubei, but I think you get the basic point ;P

Glad I could make a character that's appealing and different X3

THIS RP IS ON THE CUSP OF GETTING STARTED!

There are still more places open! Tell your friends!

Aye-aye, Cap'n! Advertisments up and ready to haul in the catch of fresh fish!(or so I would hope xD)

As it is now, it's looking like there's gonna be room for you to make that second character

M'kay. Well I'll wait a few days first in case we do get enough people, then make the second if we don't c:

I've been debating where or not to join for a few days now, and I think that I will. I just might not be 100% accurate on the timeframe, so feel free to nudge me if I do something a bit out of whack. I'll get my character sheet up soon.

"It's not my job to blow sunshine up your ass."
Name:
Christina Ritter (Mostly commonly known as "That Bitch")
Appearance:
Christina is well aware that she's not lacking in appearance, in fact – far from it. Standing at five foot eleven, with a hour-glass body frame, she's one of those girls in which you'd imagine all the men wanting to climb on top of. She has a light peach skin complexion which is flawless besides a scar that she has along her hip on her right leg. (A rugged reminder from an old traitor.) Her eyes are a light brown which work in well with her entire look; her hair is a darker brown, which runs until her mid back. She keeps her hair down and free though she has a tendency to keep beads in some of the front locks of hair. She also always wears a bandana a top her head, wrapped around her skull. Both of her ears are pierced, and she has various tattoos over her body.
Occupation (Former):
Formerly Christina worked aboard a ship which worked in the slave market. Though she was never too fond of her job working with slaves, it paid well and she wasn't going to deny living a high life (when the option was given to her.) The ship that she worked out "The Siren's Call" was docked and stripped of its rights for its "proper duty" in 1652, and she was forced to give up on the slave market completely, having to find a new line of work.
Occupation (Current):
Currently Christina works in an Inn called "The Traveler's Rest", as well as doing some side jobs of a lesser 'legal' note whenever she gets the chance. More than once she's been asked by various gentlemen to sell her soul out for a night, though she always refuses and beats them shitless (if given the chance.) Though she hates her job, and is aching to get out on the high seas once more, she knows that it's unlikely that she'll be doing nothing more than serving people drinks, offering them bedrooms, and having to beat up obnoxious men.
Itch:
Can someone as sassy and salty as Christina really live in a world governed so strictly? To hell with that! She believes in a world in which everyone can do whatever the hell they want, and to live as freely as possible. She's got it in her mind to do whatever she can to make this world back to one that she remembers so fondly. She'll never be the government's bitch - that is not how things work around here.

Sorry I haven't gotten to work on the character. I have been at a convention over the weekend. I'll be back in the groove maybe this week but definitely by this weekend.

Whoa! o.o
This thread has really exploded when I was away! And for some reason I haven't gotten any alerts about the posts.

Well, I'm just glad there's more of you sea-rats now! :D

Practice your ARRRRGHs folk, cause this is grooving.

Iron Men and Saints: No worries dude, just remember the changes we talked over and you'll be good to go. Remember though, Loose lips sink ships :P

Hellion: Looks good here mate. You're not really making any reference to any point in time/faction or social group. Gal's descriptive enough to fit but vague enough to Not really contradict any sense of semi-realism.

And it gives us more femflesh in the party, which is needed for a dynamic group. Always a plus.

Great Me: Go ahead and make that other character if you want. You'll make for six, and I think that's a fair point to get started. We can figure out the seventh seaman later if need be and use the thread for advertisement.

Alright, I'll get to that a little later/next couple of days =^.^=

3455251_orig.jpg
Name: "Caracal" or "Mad-Cat" Jack Fhérol
Age: 24 years
Ethnicity: German/English/Irish
Appearance: 5'7" and about 137 lbs. Short brown hair and hazel eyes, slightly tan. Scar below/under the corner of the left eye. Typically dresses in earthy/leathery colors(browns, creams, golds). Hooded black cloak with an embroidery of gold celtic crosses all around the edge of the fabric. Gun-holsters on each thigh holding a pearl colored pistol/gun with gold/orangish-gold cat-like symbols on the sides of the barrel, named "Twin Caracals". Jack is built athletically but with great flexibility as well.
Personality: Jack would be a sort of class-clown type of character, cheery and always with a smile on her face, poking fun at her friends with teases and nicknames(that often annoy them), and never seeming bothered by much of anything. Jack just knows how to get along with everyone, for the most part, seeming carefree and is definately fun-loving. The fact of the matter is that Jack doesn't know how else to deal with people without turning everything into a big joke or something to laugh about, which can annoy others but it's simply how she deals with life and relations with others. However, underlying the people-loving and almost flamboyant persona, Jack is actually quite cynical under the surface and doesn't like or trust most people. This is more of an act or a "mask" that she puts on, and puts on quite well. She isn't without her attachments to a few, but for the most part she remains at an emotional distance, even from those that have managed to earn her trust or she's come to like.

History/Former Occupation: Jack was born to a wealthy family under a different name than she goes by now, however, she was born to the side of the family that was disliked. Her mother, who detested the life that most of the family held, had broken away to live a simpler life not corrupted by affluence and political gain. As such, the rest of the family cut her off from any share of wealth, which eventually led to poverty. Because of this, her mother grew sick and died when Jack was still relatively young, barely old enough to remember anything about her. With no other kin to care for her, she was sent back to the main family, but was often belittled and abused because of her mother's decision. The last and most violent explosion from her Uncle, who was the head of the house, resulted in the scar that now permanently marrs her face just shy of her left eye, and led to her running away and renouncing her name, to instead take on the name "Jack". It was during the time that she had run away that she was attacked and nearly raped in the back streets of one of the major cities, barely managing to fight the man off with a nearby makeshift weapon, blugeoning him with it repeatedly until dead. It was after that she cropped her hair short and began to dress like a boy, and eventually she just became so used to and comfortable with others thinking her male that she kept to it even now into her early adult years, and does such a fine job at it that no one can tell the difference. For a while as a younger kid and pre-teen, she stayed with a mother and son, Marsha and Warren, who ran a town inn and took her in until one year when a circus passed through the area. Jack was already generally athletic and loved to run and climb things like buildings, which she did frequently with Warren and his friends around town or the surrounding woodland, so she ended up joining the circus as a tight-rope walker and acrobat, among a few various other odd-jobs. Into her mid/late teen years, Jack came to meet Jin while the woman and her crew were in port at a coastal town, and the circus had stopped there for a show at about the same time. Jin was rather impressed by Jack's acrobatic skill, as well as how well and easily Jack could pick up other skills, and the two got along on a personal level quite well. When Jin offered her a spot(not knowing at the time Jack was female, either; this was still when her father was Captain), Jack took the offer and never looked back, becoming a valuable asset to the crew. She was simply a Powder Monkey at first but she was quickly promoted to Gunner, showing a rather natural prowess for aiming and shooting with great accuracy. It wasn't until she became injured during the crossfire of another ship that it was discovered between a small handful of the crew that Jack was female, and was her wish that none outside those few that already had discovered as such be told.
When the Captain died and Jin took up the helm as Captain, Jack was made the First Mate/Quartermaster.
Current Occupation: When the rest of the crew decided amongst each other that they would be better off disbanding for a while and hoping that their Golden Age would catch it's second wind, Jack remained nuetral on the matter, and told Jin that she would respect her decision whatever it may be, as being both her close friend and Captain, when asked her opinion on what should be done. Since Jack was a closer friend than most, they kept in closer contact upon disbanding. Since then, Jin made her a pair of custom pistols since becoming a "professional" gun-smith that Jack calls the "Twin Caracals" after the gold/orange colored cat-like patterns engraved on the sides. Jack's also acquired a trained Kestrel(courtesy of an arrangement with Jin's help) and a white mixed-breed Friesian and Arabian mare named Teldassi. For the most part, Jack partakes in mercenary work of all kinds. This includes anything from escort service, to trade delivery, to Cattle Driving, to assassinations. If it'll bring in the coin, typically she'll do it. From time to time she often visits Jin, on the surface appearance to have her guns serviced and cleaned up, but also just to catch up with her old friend, and perhaps partake in a little woodland hunting or a pleasure ride on horseback.
Itch: Jack rather loved the excitement of pirating, but really what she loved the most was being out on the open ocean, where lawlessness prevailed and there weren't any sort of social classes depending on "Bloodlines" or "Affluence" - where a man's(or woman's) worth was most often dictated by the sweat and blood off of their own backs and brows than off of that of anothers(i.e. servants, slaves, factory/field/plantation laborors). At least that's how she saw it. She can't stand the restrictions, laws, and prejudices of most land-based society, and yearns for that freedom that her days aboard the Red Thunder Eclipse gave her.
Quote: "There are two kinds of people to this world - those that work hard for what they got, and those that get what they got off enslaving others to reap only the rewards with none of the work involved in obtaining it - put simply, I classify them as Those-Who-Matter and Those-Better-Off-Dead."

About to post my revised character sheet! Also a bump! Didn't want everyone here to lose hope!

Name: Lucifus Cromwell

Appearance: He was a very fancy dressing man. He looked like nobility or an officer of some sort. He bore no signs of Nationality though. He had brown hair and brown eyes. His face was rigid and he had a look in his eye that meant business. He was a small man but his coat made him look more menacing. He had a certain swagger when he walked that gave off the essence of someone important or some form of command. He wore a sword and you wouldn't doubt that he knew how to use it based upon his demeanor.
vyse_the_privateer_by_GeneralVyse.jpg
Former occupation: Lucifus's family wasn't the richest. They were originally from Ireland. They moved because of business opportunity that fell through. They then lived on the streets of Tortuga, fighting to buy bread.

Lucifus was strong as a child, equipped with deft hands and a quite staggering intellect, it wasn't to long before he made a stupid mistake trying to steal another boys dagger. He had his hands on it well enough and almost made it away but another boy in the group spotted him and chased him down into an alley.

Instead of beating Lucifus bloody, the boy who the knife belonged to took it back and smiled at him. The boy stuck out his hand and shook hands with Lucifus. The boys name was Ferris. Ferris respected Lucifus's abilities and soon Lucifus had joined them in their gang.

He was fifteen when he had joined there gang and by seventeen he was the leader. Lucifus had turned the group of teenagers into an organized crime facility. Lucifus was respected by his peers and considered a excellent leader.

By the time Lucifus was twenty-two the self proclaimed "Tortuga Underground Liberty League" ( Toll for short. ) began to form into a terrorist organization that fought for the peoples rule and against nationality. They took out everything from merchants to town criers trying to bring the influx of nationality and rule from the European countries.

Current Occupation: Despite their efforts, once the treaty was signed Toll's hope of sustaining their dream was diminished. The member's of the group went their separate ways and Lucifus began the "Cromwell Uniformed Services", a security firm that worked with naval and land escorts, domestic protection and overall protection.

It had started off as a simple way to pay the bills. He hired a partner and a few burly men. He would send the burly men to guide someone across town or set infront of houses.

However the company grew and it gained investors. Soon it rised in the ranks of being the best service for protection in the Antilles and the Bahamas. The firm grew large and famous.

No one knew who the owner was, he was in-fact Lucifus but he always went by a different name, Kvothe, and never met with clients. He kept himself very anonymous.

Itch: The fight for what was right just brought a sense of fullness to him. He truly wanted to restore Toll and bring back the old days but alas, those were the old days. What wasn't so long ago, now truly seemed distant and intangible.

Quote: "Every man dies just as much as the next man does."

( Again if none of this fits. Please tell me! :D )
