Developed in tandem with @Joshua Hewitson.

Introducing an interpretive exploration of the world of Remnant, glory team STRQ (Stark), and the infamous Raven Branwen. The scope will be a four-person team running through some of the series' past events that Yang and Ruby's mother Raven will likely have gone through, expanding on our interpretation of the series evidence. Their will be a balance of dramatic tension as well as combat.

This is a non-canon roleplay by its very nature, subject of the discussion between @Joshua Hewitson and I. We have had to make hard decisions on key elements of the story, which may prove inaccurate as Volume 4 plays out. If you are hoping to play strictly to the story revelations of the RWBY franchise this roleplay is not for you.

As an open sign-up, what we are looking for in our writers is an understanding of the series to-date, a drive to maintain character accuracy and behavioral consistency, and a loose adherence to the projected story arc.

Protagonist-players are expected to post regularly and interact with the other protagonists often - post speed approx. once/day.

Support- and antagonist-players are expected to post weekly, and as the story demands it. These are low-investment placements in the story that allow for flexibility of involvement.

Player Positions
Protagonist - (x3)
Summer, Taiyang, Qrow
Raven will be played by @Joshua Hewitson, however the other positions remain open.
Summer's role may involve OC story discussion and IC decision-making so would be suited to an aggressive player.
This position does not allow for custom-designed characters.

Support - (x3)
Ozpin, miscellaneous townspeople and hunters
Ozpin will be played by a dedicated support-player. However his interaction with team STRQ is expected to be irregular at best, and this player would not be expected to post often.
We would rather other townspeople and hunters in this series that team STRQ interacts with has player-driven goals and consciousness to embolden the general atmosphere. This is a position that allows the support-player to jump in and out of the story as desired. It is ideal if one would just like to immerse themselves in the world of Remnant without putting themselves in danger.
This position allows for freely custom-designed characters.

Antagonist - (x3)
Grimm, human bandits, Faunus guerrillas
Antagonist-players are expected to handle multiple characters with little background or story development. They will be most relevant to combat scenarios to challenge the protagonists. However, understand that RWBY is primarily a power-fantasy series, and the protagonists are expected to have the upper-hand. Exceptional players may enjoy roleplaying 'boss' Grimm and some recurring human and Faunus elements.
Antagonist players may be required to roleplay the same creatures in order to maintain story flow. This is ideal if one would like to roleplay the dangers of Remnant without too much drama.
This position allows for freely custom-designed bandits and Faunus.

Characters
Summer Rose

Weapon: Scythe-shotgun
Probably the most contentious part of this non-canon is the decision to have Summer use Manta. In the absence of evidence against Summer's weapon style, we have decided to run with a throw-back weapon that references those of her daughters. This is a custom weapon, detailed below.
IMG_20161123_183004.jpg IMG_201611328_064155.jpg Manta
1 - Gun muzzle
2 - Bayonet/Scythe counter-weight. Centre cut-out allows muzzle to pass through.
3 - Scythe blade/hand-guard. Rotates about gun muzzle 90*.
4 - Small-drum elemental dust cartridges. Loaded with dust, the gun does not expend ammunition or require loading. Energy released is uncontrolled, imitating a mid-range rifle round.
5 - Pressure compensator and release. One end of the device flanks gun muzzle, one end is both an iron sights and the manual release lever.
Pressure compensator suppreses the recoil, sound, and kick-back of dust cartridges. When manually triggered the muzzle flanks release stored pressure as kinetic force and sound which can daze and blind foes. Compensator can store six rounds worth of pressure before capping off. Any additional shots fired will not be compensated and produce the standard level of recoil, sound, and kick-back. The compensator can be released at any time after full for maximum effect.
Kinetic energy released from compensator kick-back can also be used for movement or to enhance scythe attacks in the opposite direction.
6 - Piece-wise extending, locking stock. Acts as scythe shaft. Pieces should be more numerous and more intricate than drawn, creating a full-length haft.
Semblance: Afterlife
Summer will not be utilising a semblance in this story, with the assumption being that her actual semblance will have allowed her to escape death (we'll see).
Demeanor: Coy
Summer is presumed to have a similar personality to Ruby - upbeat, optimistic, incapable of taking anything seriously until the situation is truly dire, and a strong, positive friend. However she is less outgoing than her daughter, likely an unspoken wall-flower in spite of her brighter traits.
Taiyang Xiao Long
Taiyang_ProfilePic_Normal.png Taiyang Xiao Long
Weapon: Shotgun Greaves
As Ruby takes after her trainer Qrow's fighting style, so would Yang take after her father. We imagine Taiyang to be an aggressive fighter in his day. His change of oufit of pants into shorts in the present day visually informs a manner of neutering. Thus Taiyang would use a mix of taekwon-do and aura-imbued fury attacks that Yang would later pick up on.
Semblance: Manifest fire
Taiyang's translated name of 'Sun Little Dragon' speaks to his semblance. In the Chinese mythos emperors are named after the sun and likened with the strength of dragons. Yet unlike the european dragon, Chinese dragons are all tail. The semblance we have given Taiyang, manifest fire, combines these two images. Similar to Yang, when Taiyang becomes enraged, his aura sheaths him in ethereal fire, boosting the strength and force of his attacks.
Demeanor: Outgoing
Taiyang is a real player. His promiscuous attitude toward Raven and Summer, combined with his recent outbursts and anecdotes in the series suggest his paternal niceties are reserved for his daughters only. He is likely to rub up against Raven and Qrow on many an occasion.
Raven Branwen
Raven_ProfilePic_Normal.png Raven Branwen
Weapon: Multi-action Dust Dai-katana
Raven is seen to be using a telescopic katana, sheath loaded with elemental dust cartridges that allow for combat and strategic diversity. The katana extends when drawn to be as tall as Raven herself.
Semblance: Transportation portals
Raven has been seen creating portals. For the purpose of this story we will assume she can take others human-sized beings and objects through one-at-a-time. And given the sword-slash sound during each portal creation we will assume she must cut a portal out of the air using her specific katana.
Demeanor: Passionate
Raven is known to be a tumultuous character. Likely driven by her emotions more than reason or a greater good. She speaks her mind, even when out-numbered. She will interact poorly with stubborn characters such as Qrow, though less-driven characters may even admire her drive.
Qrow Branwen
V3_08_STRQ-crop.png Qrow Branwen
Weapon: Greatsword-rifle-scythe
This weapon seems to react to Qrow's thoughts. Presumably the handle extends out when transformed into scythe form. The rifle function will be a high-powered magnetic-accelerator, given the weapon's size, requiring Qrow to immobilize himself to fire.
Semblance: Crow Familiar
Qrow is seen to be followed by a seemingly mechanical crow bird. It is suggested throughout the series that Qrow can manipulate this crow and see through its eyes, making it very useful for scouting and allowing Qrow to travel alone as he so often does.
Demeanor: Irreverent
Qrow is overall glum and sour on the inside, and with a dark sense of humour. This is perceived to be a result of Summer's death. In the scope of this story however, Summer is still alive. His most prominent trait then is his self-deprecation and willingness to dive into any avenue of conversation. Qrow will be the one to bring up topics that don't want to be heard, or face brunt of a sharp punishment when he refuses to hedge around.
Professor Ozpin
Ozpin_ProfilePic.png Ozpin (Support)
Weapon: Gyroscopic Cane
Ozpin is not likely to enter combat in this story, but just in case we have decided the central circular unit above the handle features a high-tension gyroscope internally. When activated using the trigger his attacks are deprived of much of their force, but they can be built upon and unleashed later with another pull of the trigger. This allows him to bide until his strikes would do the most damage, with superior speed and strength. Coupling his cane's ability to absorb kinetic force with his semblance, Ozpin is very survivable.
Semblance: Dynamo
Ozpin collects energy from non-direct forces (i.e. heat, friction, light, electricity, magnetism) and stores it as static charge. He can release part or all of this charge as a repulsive field. This allows him to halt movement akin to a barrier, or used in combination with itself Ozpin can project himself and objects great distances and with great force as the two fields repel each other.
Demeanor: Reserved
Ozpin is noted as still being the headmaster of beacon when team STRQ were students. In this role he is very intelligent and observant, behaving as a mentor figure. He is overall collected, preferring to face problems rationally and offer advice. He will likely disagree with Qrow and Raven regularly.
