Stat Checks & Combat

This is what you've been painstakingly designing your character sheet for. Your success in combat and other challenging activities will depend on your skill points and SPECIAL stats. There are many factors that will negate and bolster your abilities which are basically buffs and debuffs that depend on the situation you're in. For example: The speedster character is on an unstable platform, negating their ability to move quickly.

In combat encounters, people with lower skills have to think smart with their approach, knowing they cannot beat the enemy with pure strength and skill alone. They will have to make use of environmental effects in order to debuff them. It can turn into a simple rock paper scissors fight if there's no way to exploit each other, but that's intentional.

How will it work IRP?
Its gonna be like Disco Elysium. Most are going to be made passively without having to rely on a roll of the dice. These checks will reveal more information that will be of great use to you or open up brand new solutions to the problem you're having.
For example:
[Speech check failed]
This kid is completely unreasonable. I doubt even a professional diplomat can talk her out of this, much less for a beginner salesman like you.
[Barter check passed]
Well... You still have that candy bar, right? Try bribing her with that.

Companions

Adventurers who tag along to your pleasure... or dismay. There will be a variety of characters who can accompany you, each one more different than the last. Who they are, you'll have to find out for yourself, but I have a few planned for the RP.

These characters have their own set of skills to help and you can even bond with them to strengthen your teamwork efficiency. There are many benefits to that like new exclusive perks and such. Finding the right companion for your playstyle can be hard in such a massive city, but it will be worth it, especially if you find one that can compensate for your weaknesses.

Companions bring many advantages to the table: Diplomatic help, a teammate during combat, or a much needed doctor to stitch your wounds after every fight. Those are just the more generic examples, some companions specialize in more esoteric things such as a gambler who keeps winning you money.

They're not going to be just your battle cheerleaders. Sure, some of them might be just that, but they still have their limits. If you clash with them too much, you might find yourself getting a new nemesis. Some are more dangerous to you than others, but even those who are seen as weaker can be a threat in their own way. Speaking of which...

Nemesis

These characters will play the active villain of your story. They are custom tailored to you and the consequences of your actions. They will pop up in your adventures sometimes, here to distrupt you from reaching whatever goal you set yourself with. Some players will create one faster than others, it just depends on how bad your luck is or how much of an asshole you are. Even your own companions can turn against you and become your nemesis.

Only time will tell how your story with them ends, but we do know it will be a destructive conflict to the finish.

Don't worry, this fight you'll be having will not be all for nothing. You will gain bonuses if the conflict is over which will depend on how it ends. Exclusive perks and skill boosts are the regular, but some will give out different bonuses.

Quests

Yeah, WIP. If you play RPGs in general, you'd probably know how this works

There's more to come, folks!
