So during the open mic nights I have recited some old poetry of mine. The poems were both based upon either a work of poetry or a specific quote. I know Iwaku is a roleplay site, and we generally think more of writing posts, characters, stories, etc but writing has many forms and one I still like o fall back on is poetry.

So I want to see how this goes and have a poetry challenge for all you writers out there. The premise is to write a poem based off a quote. The challenge is that within the poem you need to use the quote or part of the quote in some form.

I figure since it's close enough to February I will have a more 'romantic' quote. However don't feel that your poem must be romantic just remember the premise is to somehow use the quote itself.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say goodnight till it be morrow"
~William Shakespeare
[/dash]

I seem to notice something
In our relationship as thus,
We never seem to visit here,
It's always there, 'because'.

It's never here in my town,
It's always there in yours,
When questions asked become a task,
You quote a quip or clause.

I cannot simply, let you
Dictate the turn of time,
For this ignorance of my needs,
Is a social sort of crime.

((here is my example))

Parting

Together at last
It seems like an eternity
Since I've seen your gentle face

It's been a long day
Insanity shows on the surface
Cuddled as one; I open up

Dark secrets are revealed
Love and compassion are shown
And returned

For a few fleeting moments time stands still
Watching, waiting for the moment to pass
Together we are one, my love

But time doesn't stand still long
Per usual it goes on, never stopping
Our time is up, we must part

In the ever famous words of star crossed love,
Of the lovers Romeo and Juliet,
From the quill of the great Shakespeare himself
"Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow"

Good night my love

Expression is a failed pursuit, a torture of my mind
A tease to give the feeling that I've left something behind
I throw things at my feelings just to see if it will match
But words are just not strong enough and never seem to catch
Thinking of comparisons is wasted time as well
Everything I thought to say stood next to it and fell
I grab your hand and stand as there's just one thing left to do
I place it to my chest and say that every beat's for you
Having you so close to me always makes it race
Parting is such sweet sorrow that I wish I'd never face

I love both of those poems however you need to directly utilize the actual quote within the poem somewhere (either all or part).

Naturally, I write poetry often actually :3

Passionate embrace in darkened night
An embrace to seal eternal fate
Parting is such sweet sorrow
As I gaze into your starry eyes
A tragedy our love story shall be
Your pale lips take in one last breath
One last kiss till marrow's light
I say goodbye and part my way
Your soul departed, body left behind
Front page story:
Girl Left to Die

To you, my dear, I say farewell
Even if I am too late
It pains me, oh, did my heart swell
When I learnt of your fate

You are gone, my dearest wife
You have left me in the dust
Cut is the string of your life
We will meet again; we must

For now, I dwell in sweet sorrow
Due to parting, without fight
Before long it'll be morrow
And you'll be in my sight

I will join you in the air
In a land of clouds above
And you will be forever fair
My forever only love

Shakespearean Epitaph

I pray thee soul is by angels blessed,
I lay thee down for eternal rest,
Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.

"If You Forget Me"
I want you to know
one thing.
You know how this is:

if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.
Well, now,

if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.
If suddenly

you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.
If you think it long and mad,

the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.
But

if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

that is a beautiful poem but i missed where the quote was placed somewhere within the context of the poem BG. The object of this challenge is to create poetry using the words of the quote somewhere within the poem in a way. :)
