Question regarding privacy settings?

This will likely sound a little odd, but I consider myself to be a bit of a "lurker". With that in mind, I turned off options in my Privacy Preferences so that fellow users can't see my latest online activity and/or see when I last viewed a PM. For some reason, however, both of these still appear for me. Is there anyway to fix this?
