Genres
I'm open to a wide range of genres. Obscenely wide. It's harder for me to list all I do like than all I don't like.

My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.

My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.

I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.
Everyone loves plotting! Plotting is a fabulous way to find new ideas, breathe new life into old ones, and otherwise just have a really good time.

I'm going to throw three basic plots (in various formats) a week, and users are welcome to post their takes and what they'd do with any given plot.

  1. Decoy Protagonist
  2. Even The Girls Want Her
  3. Thrown Down a Well

Below are my examples.

  1. Decoy Protagonist

John was everyone's prince charming. He saved old ladies from deadly speeding carriages, he plucked kitties down from trees, and he even ran into burning buildings to save people he didn't even know. He was tall and strong and beautiful.

In reality, he had another role to play: by committing all these good acts, he was creating a following. With a following, he could carefully manipulate the world around him and the peoples' beliefs until he ruled the capital city, and then...

Well, let's just say the brother who everyone displayed disappointment over could save the day. It was the perfect plan to ensure his brother didn't remain a nobody.

  2. Even The Girls Want Her

Jane glanced behind her. Once more, she saw brief glimpses of the pack that followed after, and with an internal shudder of horror, she returned to her conversation. This had been flattering at first, having a fan club, but she was straight, and she was pretty sure she heard phone cameras go off in places like the gym locker room and shower.

Convinced it was some sort of bullying, she made a decision: to fight fire with fire. She would get close to one member of the little 'club' and get them to reveal all, and then give the evidence over to the principal.

  3. Thrown Down a Well
    [spoili]
"I was the hero's closest friend once upon a time—I don't even need to say his name, because you all know him. You learned about him. I lost that friendship from the moment a mutual friend threw me into a well, just before they went to confront the Black Emperor." The old man grinned as he looked around. "What they didn't know is that down that well was a whole other world, including the Black Emperor's source of power!" He sighed as he remembered the adventure, and closed his eyes.
