PROMPT Plot Challenge: Angels on Zebras

Discussion in 'INSPIRING MUSES' started by Diana, Mar 12, 2013.

A PLOT CHALLENGE is where you are given a word, a phrase, a sentence, or a setting and you have to come up with a plot idea that is inspired by those words!

The object is to THINK FAST and share the first ideas that come to mind. It's an exercise in quick creative thinking. You can do this challenge any time. Or multiple times!

To Participate: THINK FAST. Don't waste any time. The first idea(s) that comes to mind, write it down and post it! You are to write down a plot premise or basic idea. This isn't about writing scenes, this is about writing up a setting!

NOTE: If you decide to borrow someone's concept for a roleplay, make sure you ask permission or give credit to the muse.

    Challenge Phrase: ANGELS ON ZEBRAS
  2. (Oh, how I wish to write a scene based on this. I will, however, abide the structure of the challenge. For now ;3)

A boy, Timothy, has always been curious about a picture hanging above the fireplace in his parents home. Several times throughout the years, he's counted himself as having figured out its true meaning. Such a strange picture it was, an image of an angel holding a battle mace, riding upon the back of a zebra. His first thoughts on the painting were along the lines of obscurity. Do no discredit those things you find to be filled with hilarity or inconceivability. They, too, could become manifest, a reality as solid as the frame that holds the mystery.

At a later time, he discovered a potentially deeper meaning with the painting. Perhaps it suggested that it's not us that depend on Angels for our miracles and our blessings, but rather the Angels that depend upon us. This angel, striking a ferocious pose as it rides upon its metaphorical steed, would not even be needed were certain needs no around to be satisfied. A fight against sin, against darkness, against a concept that has been so black and white since the beginning of time. Black and white, the colors of separation, a constant breeding ground for hatred and prejudice. Perhaps, then, the zebra was the representation of those things that are flaw within humans, and the angel rode upon those sins, its one true purpose for existing. Depending upon it, feeding off of it, and mounting it.

However, it was one day revealed to him that the purpose of the painting was not to represent anything at all, but rather to get the mind working. It was nothing more than a piece to fuel the mind, a task it had completed more than enough times over the years.
  3. The outside world was buzzing with rumor and false blame as the newspapers blew up and reporters were forced into this exciting new story. A Zebra was discovered two days ago with what appeared to be a very realistic angel painted onto the Zebra with its own stripes. Scientists are baffled by this new found discovery and with each passing second, more and more hypotheses were popping up. The guesses were far and wide as to what may have caused this awkward 'genetic deformity'. Religions around the world were without breathe as they were convinced the Lord Jesus Christ was on his way. Some Atheists were mocking the believers while others could care less.

Back at the African plains a group of Zebras, all in a giant circle, were still, quiet, and rather suspicious looking. One appeared to be the Alpha Zebra as he would be the only one moving his head and right hoof. This went on for a good 45 minutes until a giant whinny and snort seem to give the end of their meeting. As each Zebra backs out of the circle in sync, the same Angel could be seen on each one of their sides as they walked away, and each took a turn stomping on the ex-Zebra's feeding ground.

Not two days after the Zebra's meeting renounced, the Angel on the side of the Zebra in human civilization disappeared and instead, was turned to regular stripes as this Zebra was quite literally 'stripped' of his membership.

And now we may never know of the Zebra Angel gang and their purpose here on this planet.
  4. What came to mind: an unexpectedly comedic apocalypse. Although society's stories tell of the four horsemen, stories are in fact passed on and improved upon over the ages. One of those glossed over and upgraded factoids is that the horses in the written verse are, as it so happened, zebras. That's right, the angels of doom and hellfire bring the tide of The End upon the backs of spastic, stripey donkeys! But the other unexpectedly hilarious details that come to light in the brink of ultimate death will have to be added at a later date. (I had to post this much before I lost that train of thought!)
