Emily's is from nature a redhead. Her hair reaches down to her shoulder, the tips just barely moving past it. Her skin complexion is slightly pale which might betray her Irish-heritage. Her eyes are somewhat dark-greenish. Due to her job, she has an athletic body that likely comes with her job as regular training. Emily's voice is a little bit raspy, almost as it if is betraying that she enjoys the occasional cigarette or alcoholic beverage.
Alter Ego Appearance
The 'costume', as far as one could determine that Emily has a costume, has clear signs of her work. Wearing some minimal protection, such as shin as forearm protection, the rest of Emily's equipment is mainly pouches and meant to serve to store small items
The jacket is made of leather but has no special property. Neither does anything else on her costume have a special property. Emily does usually equip in this fashion but sometimes resorts to switch things up - such as packing less to not attract too much attention to herself.
This outfit is further complemented by a dark grey scarf that hides her lower features as a hoodie that can be pulled up.

Personality
Calm and friendly is usually the two terms that people think off when needing to describe Emily's personality. She is hard to anger, save it for several topics that are too close to home. With her experience in being a bounty hunter, she has also shown to be quick on judging others. Being the person that prefers to stand back and observe a situation and then act on it, has saved her from a lot of trouble. But underneath this polite and cool-headed demeanour is a certain anger and frustration. One that Emily rather tries to avoid but isn't always able to.

Biography
Emily's story started twenty-four years ago. She was born to the loving pair: Dean and Jennifer Kennedy. Her father worked as a police officer while her mother taught at a primary school. A pair that worked in and for the community yet never being in the spotlight. Just two normal human beings that would wake up in the morning, get ready for work and then try to tackle what the day threw at them. Their lives would change with Jennifer becoming pregnant and nine months later giving birth to Emily.

Emily wasn't like her parents. She was born a meta-human, bringing in a lot of changes for the Kennedy family. Despite their best interests, Emily's parents weren't able to always shield their daughter from the treatment that meta-humans receive. All of this would be worse as Emily's parents tried to apply NegaEVO, hoping that it would be of some use. Hopefully, giving Emily a chance for a normal life. More medicines were applied but eventually, Emily's parent's desperation turned into sad acceptance. Though they did it out of love, it would be the major cause of the rift between Emily and her parents. Receiving training and trying to cope with her nature, Emily didn't want to just fit into society.

Unsure of her place and position, she tried to sign up for a number of jobs. Only to settle for a course to educate herself into becoming a bounty hunter. Not some spectacular chasing, shooting as fighting defendants as one might think it is. Simply investigating and arresting defendants. However, now and then she delves into the more illegal procedure. Attempting to use her powers to bring down 'wrong-do'ers'. Something that gives her some satisfaction, providing an outlet for her frustration and desire for more rights for those who share the same troubled fate as her.

Facts

1. Her heritage is Irish, from her mother, and German from her father.
2. She has a big disdain for girly dresses, often feeling more comfortable with jeans and clothes that don't give her the idea that it restrains her.
3. Emily isn't fond of using weapons and often tries to avoid using them.
   
4. Emily is an adrenaline junkie at times. Though not keen to admit it, she loves to do things that give her a rush.
5. She has been a smoker since she became 16 years old but since a few months stopped smoking. The craving for a cigarette is still there though.
6. Not surprisingly, Emily prefers beer over wine. She only drinks wine is when there is no other option or the social etiquette 'demands' it.
7. Her job involves to apprehend both humans as meta-humans but being a meta-human hasn't caused her to become more sympathetic towards other meta-humans.
8. During her job so far, Emily only has been forced to use her firearm five times.
9. Emily has a big disdain towards Country-music. she doesn't mind many other genres but for some reason dislikes country music.
10. One of her ambitions is to start her own bail bonds company.

Smoke Manipulation
Techniques:

• Smokescreen: A very straightforward technique. Emily claps her hands and creates a smoke explosion. The smoke will expand and blind those inside the screen, as well preventing those from outside to view what is going on inside the smokescreen.
• Smoke-Phasing: By snapping her fingers and focusing for a few seconds, Emily can turn herself into smoke. This is something she has mastered to the level that she can partially as fully turn into smoke. Usually for actions that require a more delicate approach or allowing her to manoeuvre through an opening that would else be too small for her.
• Hot Smoke: By heating up the smoke, Emily is able to create a smaller screen that is a bit more troublesome. With the smoke being heaten up, it can become ignited into an incendiary result, as smoke is fuel and hot smoke overhead results in thermal insult (due to radiant heat transfer) and potential for ignition. This particular technique requires more preparation than her other techniques.
• Smothering Screen: Making the smoke denser and thus harder to breathe, Emily can try to maker her victim/victims have a harder time to fight back.
• Heat: To generate smoke, Emily can heat her own body temperature to double the normal human's body temperature. This heat is usually done in scenarios where Emily needs to go through some strong cold or try to heat up her smoke - which is made of another property that can become combustible at the temperature of 60 °C / 140 °F.

Weaknesses:
The most direct weakness that Emily's ability have is anything that can distort or can generate a strong gust, thus blowing her smoke away. Rendering most of her abilities useless. This isn't only the most obvious such as wind but also water tends to work very well to drive smoke away.
When she also makes herself fully or partially intangible with her 'Smoke-Phasing', Emily will start to feel light in the head. This means that she can't keep it up for prolonged situations. Last but not least is that she can be frozen when morphing herself into smoke. For she can't generate more heat when using her 'Smoke-Phasing'.

'Emily's relationship with her parents is quite strained. There is some uneasiness between them. Even while there has never been an actual case of abuse or anger it is clear the Emily carries some scars from what she had to go through. Her parents think and feel that Emily stepping away from them is because what they tried to help her. The real reason why is different, from Emily's perspective. Knowing what she is, she tries to give her parents a semblance of a normal life by not playing a huge part in their lives.   Personality:
  Meilin is a polite and friendly person at first glance and meeting. Speaking with respect and courtesy towards her superior and elders, it is rare to catch her cursing or wishing somebody ill. At least, vocally. Being raised to follow certain formality and etiquette Meilin has a certain 'wild side' to her. It is reasoned by most that have come into contact with Meilin's energetic states that it is because she has always been pressured to remain calm, silent and observant. Situations, where Meilin might be provoked to get out some contained energy and joy, will be when she's alone with somebody she trusts or is certain that it won't backlash later.
  
  While her raising has caused her to be quite patient and willing to endure something to achieve matters she values important, Meilin has a short temper when it comes down to her privacy - stemming forth from some insecurity issues she has regarding her looks and body. Her loyalty is an interesting aspect as Meilin can be quite trustworthy, but won't see much harm in betrayal if that will lead to a much more beneficial ending. This has caused several of her past friends to call her selfish, but Meilin claims that it is just part of rational thinking and considering what would work best. For her.

  Backstory:
  
  To understand Meilin's history, we have to go more than two decades back in time On 5th of January, a cold winter evening, was when Meilin's parents would encounter each other. Kobo Cho, her father, worked as a soldier at the Keep of Dayi. His rank was simply that of a sergeant and other than that there isn't much that you would probably find interesting. His decision to become a soldier was solely based on the fact that his father had done it as well. And his father's father had been a soldier as well. It had become simply a tradition, one that Kobo was content to follow. That night the weather had turned from calm into a snow storm. For a moment many wondered if the clouds weren't intending to drown the world with snow as the cold wind drove people into their homes and those who would need to stay outside to find refuge in another manner. For Kobo this meant to just find shelter from small fires to give a bit of light and warmth for those on patrol during the dark of the winter nights. As he was marching through the Keep's lower levels, he encountered Naora Cho. Where it would be fun to state that it was love on first sight, it sadly wasn't the case. Naora and her father were busy with trying to save some of their wares. You see, her father was a merchant that traded in silk and cotton. Nothing too big, however, as he just owned a store of his own and having several contacts from which he imported his wares. Just as the night had fallen upon the world had Naora and her father entered the keep with a waggon filled with silk. In order to not allow the quality of the silk is tarnished by the weather had, they started to unload the wares into their home. Though hesitant to help - as he had his own job, Kobo decided to set aside his spear and would offer his help. Help that was accepted with a quick happy answer from Naora's father.
  
  Ever since then Kobo and Naora often met. Their love would slowly blossom over time as the snow melted away. As Spring would replace Winter so did the friendship between two change into a relationship. Kobo often tried to do something romantic before and after his shifts as Naora tried to not demand too much from him as they were both occupied with their jobs and worries. There would be a change coming into play. Discovering that she had become pregnant this news immediately shared with Kobo. While they weren't that long together, they had to decide what to do. Staying true to his gentlemen nature and uprising Kobo proposed to Naora. They held it for two weeks secret for their friends and family. Wanting to determine how they would tell it and how they would proceed. Other than making plans to marry. It wasn't an easy time as both of them weren't sure if they were ready for such a responsibility. Besides that, they weren't for years together. Making it only more fickle if they would be capable of raising a child, together. They managed through together, getting married and Meilin being born without any complication. Life seemed to carry no ill fate nor wishes towards the young family.
  
  Until a year later. News arrived that the nation was at war. War had come to engulf the nation into a state of panic and would inspire both dread as courage into the hearts of many. Being one of the many to be mobilised to fight and bleed for his country, Kobo and Naora shared one passionate night before his departure.
  
  During the war, Kobo would experience a lot. He gained and lost comrades in arms and several times was close to losing his own life. Though he and Naora tried to keep contact, not all letters arrived. Not much of a surprise. Not because it makes the story more dramatic, but because the chaos of war and conflict would see to it that not everybody that would go back to the fronts would be able to find Kobo. This caused a time of depression for Naora, who would pray every night for the safe return of her husband and the father of her child.
  As the war came to an end, Kobo did return. Overjoyed the young family reunited. Though it would fun to say that all would stay well, this wouldn't be the case. Going through the hardships of war, Kobo wasn't the man he had been before. He started to drink more and Naora started to worry. More arguments and fights would arise between Kobo and his relatives. Eventually making Kobo deciding that he wouldn't want to live at the Keep of Dayi anymore.
  Unsure what to do, Naora decided to go with her husband. Packing what belongings they had and would then hit the road towards Keishi. There Kobo would enlist into the town's guard as Naora would work on the market. It wasn't an easy life and many times it was uncertain if they could pay their bills. But they managed through as Meilin managed to grow and stay healthy. They couldn't afford a proper education for her, but Kobo decided that it was part of his responsibility to see to it that Meilin would grow to a confident and well-mannered young woman. During evenings Kobo was busy to help Meilin read and how to speak with respect and how to uphold her dignity. Meilin on her turn caused Kobo to stop drinking, being too distracted with spending time with his firstborn. Their bond was what Meilin caused to follow guard patrols. Trying to learn what her father did and one day following his footsteps. This would stay as her dream for a long time. A change came when Okakura learned how to walk. As his first son, Kobo already stated that he would hope Okakura to follow his footsteps. Becoming a guard or a soldier, as he had followed his father's footsteps. Because of her young age, Meilin wasn't capable of understanding what that meant. Not until her father started to pay more and more attention to Okakura. Slowly she saw how her father started to come home and first checking on Okakura and then on her. No longer did he play 'soldier' with her. The game 'hide and seek', as other games, would slowly drift into memories as well. Being replaced with envy and sorrow. Trying to gain her father's attention, Meilin started to try to impress him. The first act was trying to march with him on patrols. As you can expect, that didn't go well. Meilin was more in the way and quickly send away, to go home.
  
  Following the trend as many others had before her, Meilin decided that if she couldn't get attention through behaving, she would misbehave. It started with little pranks that got her scolded. Over time as she aged, Meilin's pranks would become worse. Annoying the neighbours would just be something done out of boredom with her friends. Okakura, however, would still be in the centre of her father's attention. Causing Meilin to take it to the next level. At the age of eleven, the young girl started to indulge into pickpocketing. She had a certain talent for it, though she got caught later on. An argument broke out between her and her parents, which ended that Meilin would be kept in line. In a more strict manner than before.
  
  Over the following years, she had changed from the little problem to a silent and obedient young teen. So far her parents knew as Meilin still wouldn't stop with her little thievery. As her father made promotion, Meilin requested to be assigned to the guard. This suggestion wasn't taken in a positive manner as her parents decided it wasn't something for Meilin. Demanding and harassing her parents vocally over the following weeks didn't help either.
  
  Depressed and saddened Meilin would see time passing by as she already could see her future of being nothing more than a housewife. How her little brothers would grow up and become what she wouldn't ever become. The pride of her father. Defeated in spirit, Meilin would succumb to this fate. Only as something happened five months before her fourteen birthday.
  Sitting outside Meilin was doing some chores. Cleaning the garden she was considering about what she would try to do if she had a son. As she kept cleaning the garden her little brother approached her. In his playful mood, he started to tease Meilin. Warning her brother to stop didn't seem to help. Growing angry and frustrated, something snapped in Meilin. Unknown even to this day, she would lash out and leave a small burned mark on Okakura's face. It was found out later that Meilin had used chakra to heat up her hand. Concern was that if she wouldn't be capable of controlling herself that it could lead to worse scenario's and endings.
  
  Even though she was nearly fifteen, Meilin wasn't sure what was going on. Sorry for her deed she begged her parents to forgive her. Only for them to send her away to Konohagakure - at least that is how she had felt about it for some time. In Konohagakure, she would remain at a friend of her mother. Helping her mother's friend for room and board in his carpenter workshop, Meilin would go to the Academy. Though she worked hard and determined to win her way back to Keishi, she would encounter several problems. The first year she wasn't able to make many friends. As her grades and progression were at a great pace, she started to close off. This only became worse as she didn't more than to work, study and train. Even with the Shoji Oppression, Meilin continued with her study. In the dark of the nights, she would delve into the books she had purchased before the Oppression, trying to learn how to control her chakra better- through simply studying theory. How to become a better kunoichi. The end of the Oppression saw to it that she could resume her education at the Academy. As she became fifteen, Meilin also would later enlist herself for the Cho Guard. Not soon after that Meilin would graduate as a genin, but continued to study longer as training the basics to become a Cho Guard - as it was around the time that the Cho clan would be reformed and united under one rule.
  
  Finishing the training at the age of seventeen, Meilin would officially join the shinobi military department. Eager to see how proud she could make her father once she would make a name for herself.
  
  
  On Meilin's mission, one could say that she had quite some bad luck. Being assigned to work as an undercover operative for a large crime organisation, she managed to easily gain information. Both thanks to her wit and connections Meilin managed to get through the first mission with team 7. Not without any loss as the zealots had abducted her families, among many others, from Keishi. Bent on revenge, her hunt had started. Only a terrible start would come to play as Meilin would find her first relative, her own mother, dead. Managing to rescue and uncover Hitomo, Meilin would gain the aid of Team 7 to conclude the mission in Keishi.
  Returning to Konohagakure she managed to arrange some housing for Hitomo. Her current space wasn't luxurious or spacious but it would have to suffice. Once that was out of the way, Meilin started to work on settling down in Konohagakure. Succeeding for the test with the Guardians, she would work her way to get to know Konohagakure a bit better as well managing to keep working on her goal.
  Soon after, as the cold month of December approached, Meilin was sent with Team 7 towards the Blackroot Vale. There she encountered and worked together with the mysterious and distant Blackroots, trying to get a trail of her missing relatives. Through shrewd and cunning manoeuvring, she managed to usurp control of Team 7 from Kensuke Nimatsu. Allowing herself to steer the team in the direction she wanted.
  Though managing to rescue and bring back two more siblings, Atsumichi and Irene, things didn't end that well. Irene had lost her left arm during the scuffle, needing to be amputated in order to avoid a nasty infection that could cost her life. That and there was no sign of her missing father and last sibling, Kobo and Okakura Cho.
  
  Returning to Konohagakure, Meilin would hold a debriefing with Zakito Hon. It would result in a firm warning and promotion to chuunin rank. While joyful, Meilin would be aware that this meant she couldn't just do what she had done before. She would be punished more severely, now being a chuunin. And yet, she couldn't help but feel that this would be another step of her avenging her family on the Zealots. This eventually would come into the shape of the transfer to Team 4.

  Consisting of Aoi Miyazato and Madoc Yamanaka, Meilin would be informed that she would become part of Team 4. This team would serve the purpose of a support team, to aid another team's operation. Their first mission would be towards the River Province's capital, Hanagoro. The old and mighty seat of the Tamiyo dynasty.

  Meilin had a decent relationship with her mother. Looking up to her mother as a role model of what a mother should be, Naora's death came as a shock. Meilin was able to give a proper burial - as much as the situation back then allowed her.

  Meilin's father used to be her big hero, though she still strives these days to resemble the man in a few aspects. Despite she remembers him being stern and sometimes even harsh, she is loyal to the end. This is shown that she is more than willing to jump into danger to figure out what happened or where her father is these days.

    Meilin's relationship with Okakura is a bit strained. This is mostly because she had a childish jealousy towards her sibling for drawing her father's attention towards him. With him missing, however, she is more than willing to risk her own life to bring him out of danger and back home.
  • Atsumichi Cho ( 6 years younger)
    The relationship between Atsumichi and Meilin is quite stable. It is clear from their interaction that Atsumichi is looking to Meilin as one of his heroes, quite eager to try to spend as much time as he can with her.
  • Irene Cho (7 years younger)
    Irene is probably the dearest to Meilin out of her siblings, though she won't admit this herself. Irene is in a way the polar opposite of Meilin. In that, she isn't afraid to show her emotions or say what she has on her mind. Due to her having lost her right arm, Meilin is quite protective over her younger sibling. Almost acting as a mother, warier when Irene is around people Meilin isn't too familiar with.
  • Hitomo Cho (8 years younger)
    The youngest of Meilin's siblings, Hitomo is quite bubbly. She is often spotted with Atsumichi and can get quite upset when somebody else (than her siblings) gives more attention to Atsumichi than they do to her. Unlike Irene and Meilin, Hitomo is already showing she is more 'girly'.

  Meilin looks up to Koike. As one of the few that gave her a welcome feeling in Konohagakure together with his willingness to accept her as a student of his, Meilin is keen to prove her progression to the young man.   The leader of the Guardians, Hayate already has the respect of Meilin. More so because she didn't seem to have any trouble with interacting with Hayate. The easy-going interaction and welcoming attitude of Hayate has given the idea to Meilin that he can become a very good friend in time.

  Where some might consider Madoc a dickface for being straightforward, Meilin appreciates it. At most of the time, at least. She considers the Yamanaka more of a friend these days and tries to trust him more. However, she is slightly wary and this becomes of the fact that Madoc is a Mindseeker and the tales about those kinds of people aren't always very positive.

  Aoi is considered more and more of a friend these days by Meilin. They have their differences in culture, religion and what not but Meilin would still be ready to defend Aoi. Having tried to open up towards Aoi, Meilin does find it hard to understand Aoi at times and it can create some friction between the two.

  Being her previous team-leader, Meilin has mixed emotions towards Kensuke. She respects the man for his skills and experience. Owing him that certainly after he has saved her life, she holds him partially responsible for the situation of her family. Even though they don't always go without colliding, Meilin hopes that somewhere Kensuke and she can become better friends one day.

  The Third Hokage, Lord of the Hons and one of the highest military commanders of the Imperial forces is somebody who Meilin respects, fears and admires. The tales of the White Wolf aspired Meilin in the Academy to attempt to become just as capable. Lacking his talent, however, she thus used it as motivation to keep driving herself further. Her few interactions with the man have solidified her respect but also fear for the man, for she doesn't desire to be on his bad side.

  The Empress and her exploits have earned Meilin's respects. Though the monarch is younger than Meilin, the Cho has an incredible amount of respect as the desire to make sure she doesn't disappoint Kiyomi. This is coupled together with being afraid of the power that the empress holds, being the tamer of the Nibi.

  Aiko is one of the few people that still inspires Meilin to strive forward. The feats of the woman and her supposed superb skills as a leader and kunoichi are something that Meilin only dares to dream, to have one day as well. As the leader of her clan, Aiko is one of the people that Meilin would follow to hell and back without a question.

Their interaction during their only mission together hasn't been enough to pique Meilin's interest. Meilin is quite distant towards Kyoi, however, due to the knowledge that she and others of Team 7 had almost made her been signed as a missing-nin.

  Description:
  Meilin wears the uniform of the Cho Guard, of the ones that passed the Trial of the Beast. This goes with the protective and quality arm guards and the shoulder guards as with the black (padded) jacket - some of it covered by the garments that she wears. Meilin is quite fond of the uniform as she sees it as a source of her pride and sometimes as a reminder of who she is. On top of the protective wear, she wears a more fashional attire that is part of the uniform.

  Description:
  A longsword crafted from conductive chakra steel and by Hayate Hyuzu with some supplied knowledge from Koike Hon. It was a gift for Meilin's effort and interest in being Koike's sword-apprentice before Koike went to the Eastern continent and Meilin heading off on a mission towards Blackroot Vale. It isn't just a gift from the person she considers a mentor when it comes down to swordplay as there is a formula constructed into the blade that affects chakra that is run through the steel. Instead of the blue hue it will light up white, creating a blinding effect when the wielder runs their chakra through the blade, able to blind enemies once familiar with chakra flow. It is holstered at the scabbard at her left hip.

  A simple and rather harmless technique made by Meilin. This allows her to ignite her firecrackers in an efficient (and subtle) manner. It doesn't provide many advantages or is allowing her to set weapons, people and buildings aflame. Might be useful to start a campfire.
  Weakness:
  Anybody with a glass of water will 'defeat' the technique. If being 'attacked' with the technique directly, the damage won't be anything life-threatening. Isn't clever to use the technique in areas with gas or other factors that might respond explosively to the technique.

  Description:
  This technique allows the user to use chakra to shape them into a slightly larger raven. Allowing them to use benefits that come with transforming into a raven, such as flight and being of smaller shape than a human, the technique is an old one from the Sarutobi clan. It is said to date to the days back when the Sarutobi had their own kingdom before forced into exile. Those who have mastered this technique are considered to be Valravns - ravens that serve Lord Akumu, being his messenger or bringing the death to afterlife.
  Weakness:
  The fact that a person turns into a raven doesn't allow them to fight in a very efficient manner against another human. They won't be able to make of weapons or ninjutsu in this form. It won't allow them either to understand or communicate with other avians. They won't also b able to communicate with other people unless they decide to undo the technique. When somebody uses a sensory or dojutsu technique, they can potentially - depending on the user's skill of sensory or the dojutsu - spot that the 'raven' (person using this technique) has quite a bit more chakra than the usual raven.
