Some days were always better than others. Alution let out a soft sigh with that thought as he flew low along the countryside, hoping to spot a deer or something that would make a good meal. He really just wasn't feeling that great today. His old wounds were sore and the new cave he was living in was too big and uncomfortable for him.
As he thought about it, he felt himself getting angry once more. This was terribly frustrating. One minute he was lounging around in his old den, counting up the gold coins in his horde, the next some big brute was chasing him out of his own territory. He let out a roar of frustration that carried across the countryside and alerted a small village of the incoming dragon. Upon seeing the small farming village, he felt his stomach grumble.
Usually the dragon avoided messing with humans. But, he was in a bad mood and cows were excellent comfort food. He tore into a barn which he'd just seen a farmer move his herd into and grabbed a small cow. He took off with it, swiftly flying to the nearby mountainside where his new cave was hidden. He quietly ate his cow outside his cave, not wanting to make a mess out of the place. The snow capped mountains were certainly not Alution's first choice for finding a den, it was too cold and windy and there wasn't any good food around.
He didn't know that someone was hurrying off to the castle to warn them that a dragon was in the area. Heck, he wasn't exactly expecting a castle to be in the area. Things certainly would be different from now on.
