    Roleplay Introduction
    x1PSoSR.gif

Behind the 'veil' exists wonders the likes you've never experienced before.

Unbeknownst to humans lies an otherworldly realm unlike their own. One that countless tales have originated from in the form of widespread myths, fables, and folklore. Stories full of incredulous monsters, and fantastical creatures genuinely believed to be nothing more than far-fetched narratives formed from the unintelligible minds of their ancestors. Elaborate fiction of the highest degree. Each corner of the world, and every crevice in between possessing their very own unique variations. However, amidst such unrealistic wonder stems an unimaginable truth that has been an incredibly well guarded secret since time immemorial. What goes bump in the night is in fact real, yet is more complex than one could ever hope to truly comprehend in a single lifetime.

Beasts, demons, and monstrosities once used to instill terror in mortal children can be found alive, and thriving in an adjacent dimension beside the current era of man. Both realms kept separated from one another by powerful barriers materialized into existence, as well as maintained, by the Gods of Old. Those who monitor the inner workings of the realms from either side of the 'fence' in order to sustain the long-standing age of peace. Lest the Dark Epoch, when most myths initially came into fruition, reoccur.

For now the Human Realm and the Alternate Realm remain two sides of the same proverbial coin. Mortals blissfully unaware while its Alternate counterpart mimics its geography right down to the smallest of islands. However, the similarities begin to lessen from there depending on which sectors of the hemispheres are traversed across. Its Eastern, and Western halves starkly different in regards to overall cultural progression. The former deeply rooted in tradition, and habitual mannerisms by comparison.

    Xseo3dq.jpg

Our story's setting takes root amidst the East, specifically the Japanese Region of the Alternate Realm. An island overrun by fierce, and frightening creatures capable of horrifying destruction. Yet, nonetheless possesses an alluring appeal not easily ignored. Said beings most notably found in all sizes, shapes, and colors, by way of a various collection of oddities who have called this region home for countless centuries.

The passage of time in the Alternate Realm far different than that of within the Human world. Ones finality of death by natural causes such as 'old age' not typically heard of prior to at least a millennia of life's many trials, and tribulations. Beasts of the Alternate Realm also known for their extended lifespans, as well as their superior inherent physical prowess. With that being said, even these titans of an age gone by seek to indulge in the occasional opulence that commoners would readily claw out the throats of their own kin to obtain a piece of. When that time comes, and the name of a single place instantaneously comes to mind...Kaburi-Tsuki

Kaburi-Tsuki is an inter-dimensionally famed traditional Japanese Bath house / brothel hybrid with an unorthodox flare, regularly frequented by the Alternate and Human Realm's numerous Deities. Known far, and wide to cater to a Celestial clientele base, this place is assuredly not for the...financially disadvantaged. Nor those whom haven't yet been blessed with the knowledge of what true decadence, and luxury does to enhance one's existence.

Regardless of the reasons behind their reoccurring patronage, Kaburi-Tsuki's owner, commonly referred to as Mitsuru-sama, deeply appreciates all of the popularity his prestigious guests have brought to his establishment. A similar sentiment shared along with hundreds of dedicated employees who eagerly, and attentively take care of any, and every desire their high-status clients may possess.

No request ever too debaucherous, nor taboo to fulfill.

    Welcome Potential Group Participants

Thank you for stopping by to peruse the contents of this thread.
    Your presence is highly appreciated.

Now then....here lies a RedStar - Group Roleplay that I initially thought of eons ago, yet never reached fruition. Now that I'm no longer on hiatus, I wanted to gauge whether or not this would be something that would garner enough overall interest to progress further. Or if I, as a first-time GM, should perhaps pump the brakes before I get my hopes up too high. This is exactly where this thread in particular will come into play, and just to be clear this is not an Open Sign-Up.

More so just a way for me to gather potential writers in order to post a very tentative 'Invitation Only' OOC, and subsequent Character Index later on. However, even then your official admission into the roleplay is only secure after your first character is created, and approved by the GM.

Posting here guarantees absolutely nothing in terms of a "seat" at this filth covered table.

With that being said, when the time comes I will be inviting about 6 to 8 Advanced, and reliable participants with vivid imaginations, as well as a genuine preference for fantasy, beasts, debauchery, and the divine. Semi-Weekly Posts ( Posting every 7 to 14 days ) will be expected of each member. Said members shall occupy the roles of Kaburi-Tsuki's Divine clientele ( an absolutely non-negotiable stipulation ), as well as its on-site employees. In order to gain a better grasp of the specific types of in-character positions that will be available during the future creation process, please refer to the "IC Roles" tab up above.

More importantly than that, be sure to carefully read the Group Rules and Expectations sections in their entirety as a means of determining if this roleplay would be something that you'd be able to delve into. As a GM, I am not / will not hesitate to remove participants who are unable to adhere to what is expressed within those tabs. By extension I refuse to allow the roleplay to be halted by one or two members. Doing so would be a blatant disservice to everyone else involved within the group. This is not a "One Man Show", nor will it be your show. It will instead be the collective effort of each, and every active member's respective part.
Exactly as all group roleplays should ideally be.

    Reference Material

If you find yourself not entirely confident when it comes to the Traditional Japanese setting of this roleplay, due to not being all too familiar the topic, I have provided some reference materials within the "IC Guide" tab. As well as in the threads to come. Also, if you happen to be an anime and/or mange connoisseur, like myself, then perhaps a few shows that best encapsulate examples of attire, architecture, and the presence of Yokai, that I'm attempting to paint would include essences of the following:

InuyashaHoozuki no ReitetsuKakuriyo No YadomeshiDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

One of the hugest influences would be Hayao Miyazaki's animation masterpiece, Spirited Away.

    6NJ90q3.gif

    However....

Not all Deities, nor Staff Characters in general, will be permitted to be from Japan. Please remember that Gods from all Pantheons are welcome to stay at Kaburi-Tsuki. Not just Kami ( Japanese Gods ). Its doors are also open to staff from around the globe. Information about other Pantheons, and Non-Japanese Species from distant parts of the world will be provided via future threads, and guides later on. With that said, feel free to also take a gander on your own in regards to research on other Pantheons. The most important take away is that I want to see DIVERSITY! Differing physiques / features / heights, ranges of beautiful complexions beyond pale, a spectrum of outward gender expressions, bold personalities, and so on~

Give us a unique taste of what your lovely creation will bring to Kaburi!

    ___

If you've yet to become put off by any of the above statements,
then feel free to look over the other tabs for further information, and voice your interest below ~
Comments, questions, and concerns also exceedingly welcomed.

⌜ Thank you for your time ⌟

Below is where I shall touch upon key aspects of this roleplay from an OOC perspective. Please read through this section carefully before placing interest. Even more so before actually attempting to join. If upon reading what lies ahead you do not feel as if you would be able to adhere to the rules, then this particular RP is not for you.

    d38dFS4.png
    Rules Of Engagement

    ____

    - All Iwaku site Guidelines apply

    Never up for debate.

    - Advanced Writers Welcomed

Your previous IC posts, and writing style may be taken into consideration, so please do not attempt to feign your writing capabilities. If you wish to PM me a recent writing sample then you are free to do so. It does not have to be a novel, but a bit of length may prove favorable. As per the implied characteristics associated with Advanced and/or Above writers, IC posts can be anywhere from at least two paragraphs or more, as well was written in the third-person. The more details, and elaborate mental imagery, the better! In addition to that also possess a decent grasp of punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and grammar. We're all humans, and make mistakes, but please do try your best.

    - Be respectful of your fellow Group participants.

If an issue arises, then please approach the situation like civil adults, and be sure to attempt to resolve the issue amongst yourselves before involving the GM as a last resort. With that being said, the GM is not a miracle worker, and so the outcome may not suit your fancy. The integrity of the entire group comes before any single individual. By extension the GM's responses, and actions will reflect as such.

    - High quality art and / or Semi-realistic imagery for Character images only.

No.child-like.imagery. Due to the mature nature of this roleplay I will not allow characters who resemble children or possess overtly 'child-like personas', nor mannerisms to take part. It's DEEPLY uncomfortable to see Redstar Roleplays include characters who physically appear no more than 10 to 16 years of age in settings meant for heavily 18+ content, claiming to be "adults". This is not up for discussion. If you feel as if the image you have in mind may teeter a fine line then consult the GM for the final say.

    - This Roleplay will, ideally, consist of 6 to 8 participants.

In an attempt to keep things fairly neat, and organized the overall slot availability for the roleplay will be 6 to 8 people ( subject to possible change ) aside from myself. A quaint group as opposed to a larger collective. Said participants will be allowed to create up to 4 Main characters each. Doing so will not be mandatory in the least, but an option allotted to those involved. However, if you are not usually able to manage multiple characters, yet seek to create more than one, it may be in your best interest to think long and hard on the matter for the sake of personal manageability beforehand. If it becomes apparent that there are participants who have the maximum amount of characters permitted, but are clearly unable to handle them all, and/or are struggling with said amount, they may be asked to retire at least one.

Sounds "unfair"? Consider this situation from the outside looking in. If during interaction after interaction certain participants consistently place all four ( or most ) of their characters into play at once, but then quickly find themselves unable to juggle their various creations for one reason or another. By extension they either leave most of their IC partners in limbo for long lengths of time, or can never wrap up all of their respective interactions prior to transitioning into the following IC segments.

Take that into consideration, please, and consider this your initial warning.
Only create what you will be able to handle in the long run
or prepare to lose a few of your beloveds later on.

    - Each participant must create at least One Deity as a Main.
A maximum of two if you wish for another, but that is up to you as a creator.

The Deities that reside both within the Human Realm, and Alternate Realm serve as the Kaburi-Tsuki's core clientele base. Their abundant wealth, influence, and status providing the bathhouse with the vital funds needed to supply its guests with any amenity their hearts desire. Without them there is no Kaburi, and so it is extremely imperative that such characters not only exist, but are actively used throughout the storyline.

Said Deities can be from any Pantheon, but East Asian Deities will be capped at 3 total within the roleplay. By extension, East Asian non-deities will cap at 4 or 5. Remember, the Alternate Realm is a mirror of the Human Realm in terms of overall geography, and so Deities beyond Japan / Eastern Hemisphere come to stay at Kaburi-Tsuki just as often as anyone else. Similar to the reality, they venture here for vacation, business trips, honeymoons, or simply to indulge in a pleasurable experience not attainable anywhere else in the world.

~ Links to Various Pantheons Around the World~

    - First Bio up within 2 weeks of "joining",
and the GM must approve all Bios prior to the active roleplay of any new creations.

If you seek to join the group then you will have two weeks ( about 14 days ) from then to submit your first Character bio. That bio will act as your admission ticket into the group. If a full 14 days pass by without one then it will be assumed that you either no longer possess any interest, or simply do not have the time to participant. After your creations are up the GM will thoroughly look them over before posting an 'Approved'. If your character has been approved then they are cleared for IC play. However, if they were not, then the GM will inform you of exactly why, and work to help you remedy that.

    - Non-Player Characters.

This roleplay will for now, tentatively allow the creation of unlimited NPCs as a means of further filling out this highly-populated setting of ours. Quite liable to be withdrawn should this be abused. There will be many roles needed to help add more life, and drama to the overall storyline. Be that done behind the scenes via a recurring role, or a fleeting one for only a few scenes. With that being said NPCs can not, and will not be treated as Main Characters. By that I am making it very clear, here and now, that NPCs are not permitted to ever be posted IC alone without a Main present. Nor are they ever able to maintain the "spotlight" of a post for extended lengths of time. Their overall presence is merely to flesh out situations, but never to take "main stage" on their own accord.

In order to keep track of NPCs, their names, purpose, and role, they will be expected to be added to the Character Index thread where your Mains will be kept. However, unlike said Mains they will not need an elaborate bio, but more so just basic identifiers ( An image, name, species, role, and whatever else you deem noteworthy ). Face images of NPCs are to not be used for multiple participants regardless of how amazing it may be. Whomever finds it first, and adds it to their index may use it.
There is an abundant amount of lovely artwork waiting to be found, you just have to look.

If under the circumstances that you find yourself with all 4 Main slots taken, and a NPC you've fallen in love with more than one of your Mains, you may perform a swap. Said NPC becoming a Main while the former Main is permanently demoted to NPC status. When such occurs you will have one week to further develop said character from a basic NPC bio template to the full version associated with every other Main. If you fail to do so then that character will not be able to be switched in. This may only be done once, and is non-reversible so consider this decision with care.

    - IC roles are not Solidified until a fully-formed Character is presented, and GM approved.

As a means of lessening the likelihood of participants 'claiming' roles only to promptly disappear soon after, I will not allow said claiming to be set in stone until after said character is posted within the index. For example, say you wish for your character to play the Chef of Kaburi, and voice that via the OOC. However, something occurs in real life that prevents you from creating them in a timely fashion. The position of Chef will continue to remain open for another person, and only officially claimed when an approved bio for them is up in the index.

    - No Godmodding or Meta-modding permitted.

Depending on the interactions that arise 'manhandling' will undoubtedly be expected, and will not be considered Godmodding, but more so a realistic course of action. For example if a character is 3x's the size of your own, and a behemoth in terms of strength. Either way, please consult your partner(s) beforehand. Meta-modding is defined by when OOC information not yet introduced, mentioned, or shared amongst others within the IC storyline is somehow known/used by someone IC.

For example, say that Character A and Character B have yet to officially meet one another face to face. They have also never been given details about one another through any IC means, and are just about to interact for the very first time. Despite that Character B somehow seems to know Character A's name, and uses it freely. Be it via dialogue or just mentioned in the overall post. In that type of scenario it would be impossible for B to have been privy to such information. In other words, just because you as a creator are aware of certain things, does not mean your character would be as well.

    - The Killing of another Character.

Even if said creations are your very own, their death will not be allowed unless discussed with not only the parties involved, but also the GM via PM prior to the act. However, if you suddenly 'Poof' from the roleplay without a word for an extended period of time your character will be terminated/killed. Their death will be executed by either one of the GM's characters, or whomever else eagerly volunteers to do so. This will be done as a means of freeing up role slots to those whom can be active, and take time to participate in the role play.

    - Explicit content is allowed within the IC thread.
Spoiler coding and warning labels non-negotiable.

Despite this being a highly mature roleplay, please do not let said content overflow the thread entirely. Attempt to be creative, and explore other plot routes among your fellow writers. However, when you do wish for your characters to get down, and dirty, post your more mature activities via one collaborative post between yourself/your partner, or within a series of six single posts ( three posts for you and three for your partner ). After that the smut ends, and you move on. That way interactions between other participants can continue on as usual as well. All of said posts are to be labeled with a mandatory courtesy warning on top ( Nudity, sexual content, violence, etc ), just as a 'heads up', as well as within spoilers,

This is a Redstar Roleplay where sex, violence, and vulgarity will be very prevalent.
You were aware of that when you joined, so none of the above should be a surprise later.
    ___

Furthermore, when it comes to sexual content,
the following are absolutely banned from the roleplay:

    - Vore
    - Gore
    - Anything involving urine/bowel movements

    No exceptions whatsoever.

    ______

    ____

These Writer Expectations are to be met by whomever seeks to participate within this roleplay. Please read carefully, and also be aware that as the GM I am fully aware that everyone possesses a life beyond the internet. There will be no disputing that.

However, when one joins a roleplay it is expected that there will be some effort made to remain active in said storyline. If you are for whatever reason unable to handle it, please communicate that, and withdraw from the group.

    d38dFS4.png

    Collaborative Effort

    ____

    - Be an integral part of the group.

This encourages you to be as present as you possibly can. Not only IC, but OOC as well. The overall morale of a group rp depends heavily on how excited its members are to be involved in the fun! You will not be asked to chat 24/7, but more so to make your voice heard in some way shape, or form.
Ask questions, make suggestions, bring observations to the forefront, etc.

A Discord will more than likely be created if the majority of participants prefer one.

    - Weekly Posting Speed and Accountability.

One response post per every 7 to 14 days for each active Main character of yours. Participants may, of course, post more frequently than that if they wish, yet be mindful to not flood the entirety of the IC thread with only 1x1 interactions. This is be a group roleplay. Please remember that.

Those who consistently display signs of inactivity will be withdrawn from the roleplay after a single courtesy warning aside from this section of the tab, and have their characters terminated by one of the GM's creations, or a willing volunteer, if nothing improves. It isn't fair for the group, as a collective, to wait for undetermined lengths of time for an IC post that may very well never happen. If you can not handle this roleplay due to whatever reason, then please be considerate enough to withdraw from the group on your own.

There will be no hard feelings from me, I assure you.

    - To Finish what you Start, if possible.

When a roleplay begins, and/or a new IC day is introduced, it can be quite tempting to place one character after another into active play. That initial adrenaline rush, and wave of inspiration pushing thoughts of exactly how to manage all of those interactions in the long run far back into the recesses of your mind. Then. in what feels like no time at all it becomes time to end each of said interactions in order to transition as a group onto the next day/scene. However, by then you find yourself overwhelmed with multiple ending posts, and so opt to never submit any of them. Thus leaving either your partner, and/or fellow writers to do so for you.

Neatly tying up your respective interactions will be expected of you within this group. If you believe yourself to resemble the aforementioned example above, then it may be in your best interest to not initiate, or plan too many interactions at one time. Doing so may lead to a pile up of posts towards the end, and kill ultimately your muse when the time comes to wrap them all up. If for some reason you truly can not end all of your interactions due to real life matters then please either contact the GM and/or communicate that in the OOC thread.

    - ** Communication is Key.

If you have any questions, concerns, worries, or issues, please make them known in an adult manner. That includes being polite, and being mindful of how you express them. If you will be unable to post for an extended period of time then be sure to mention that in the OOC and/or to the GM directly. Otherwise it will be assumed after some time that you've taken a hiatus, no longer wish to continue on, or can not remain active for another reason, and so you will be withdrawn from the rp. Your characters will also be terminated as a means of opening up slots to others.

Furthermore, if you know in advance that you will be unable to post ( vacation, no internet, etc ) within the impending future, I ask that you please faze your character out from any/all current IC interactions. By this I mean to temporarily withdraw them from play until your return. That way your writing partner, their character, and whomever else involved are not left stranded or awkwardly stuck in limbo. You and said person can always reconvene when you return, so please be courteous, and place your character(s) on hold.

** [ With that being said, if one consistently is not able to post or just simply does not, despite saying something, after awhile you will be dropped from the group. The roleplay can not, be halted by empty promises. The show must go on. ]

    - Comfortable with Highly Mature Content, Undefined Gender Norms, and so much more.

This is a Redstar Group, and so the content will reflect as such. That, of course, including highly mature subject matter, such as sexual relationships between those of the same sex and/or gender identification, nonconforming expressions of gender as a whole, kink-expression between characters, etc. If you'd prefer to engage in a roleplay that is strictly Cis-het centered, then this is certainly not for you.

    - At least some vague knowledge within the realm of Mythology.

It would be silly to expect everyone to be deeply privy to the intricacies of every myth, fable, and section of lore found around the world. However, some knowledge in terms of where you're myth sampling from and/or the type of species you plan to make your characters would be greatly appreciated! Said info could very much be prior knowledge you've gathered over the years, fell in love with after researching it further, or looked up for the sake of this rp. Either way, a bit of authenticity, and cultural flares from where your creatures initially hails from would be amazing to see throughout the roleplay! ( behavioral cues, diet, traditions, specific phrases, language, etc )

    - Be as Creative as possible~!

To piggyback off of some of my above statements I truly wish to see some outstandingly fleshed out, and genuinely interesting characters. Be that executed through their species, overall personality, appearance, etc. It would be incredibly disappointing to see generic 'cat boys' that we've all seen thousands of times running rampant. Ones that are "frail", "weak", and lack a backbone. Writing alongside one dimensional creations that we, as roleplayers, have seen a million times over isn't appealing in the least. 90% of the Character Cast can not be "sweet as pie", "clumsy", "shy", and "friendly to a fault". Spiteful saboteurs, ruthless brown-nosers, and manipulative troublemakers would be far more engaging to interact with by comparison.
    Variety is a must!

Because of that I encourage everyone to step out their comfort zones, and get those creative juices flowing! Choose a species or deity from lesser utilized parts of the world like ones found in African ( Non Egyptian included ), Hindu, Scottish, and Maori cultures, to name a few. Something different that isn't typically explored/mentioned. The world is a massive place with each corner of it possessing its very own cultural based lore that sets it apart from the rest. Your character doesn't even need to be fully humanoid either. Perhaps they are some variation of a Naga, Lamia, Centaur, or Harpy, and possess more bestial physical traits than human ones. They could even possess multiple forms.

Also, I would like to remind everyone that not all characters have to be pale, blue-eyed, blonde, and/or stand at 5'3". Characters are able to come in a plethora of complexions, fur patterns, scales, heights, body-types, and various hair colors. If your interest lies in a culture found closer to the equator then it stands to reason that their complexions would more than likely be many shades richer than 'pale' or 'fair'.

They could be tan, olive, brown, mocha, obsidian, multi-hued, grey, blue, red, pink, and so on!
    Go above, and beyond.

    - Upper In-Character Post Formatting and Partner Tagging

As a means of keeping IC posts organized, and easy to read, all participants will be expected to make the 'Where, Who, and Attire' involved in your posts as clear as possible. Doing so by posting such information just above your actual Character content will suffice. For example:

    _ Your Character's Name _

Location: YC's current location(s) | Interactions: Who YC's interacting with | Attire: What YC's currently wearing

Also, please do not forget to tag your partner(s) somewhere within your IC post. Iwaku is infamous for allowing posts to slip between the cracks when it comes to notifications from time to time, so tagging as an added measure lessens the likelihood of someone missing the fact that you posted, and that you're awaiting a response from them within the next 7 to 14 days.

    In-Character 'World' Guide

    ____

[ Overall 'Alternate Realm' ( Japanese Region ) Information ]

    - No usage of Advanced modern Technology within the Alternate Realm,
but it does in fact exist, can be spoken about, and specifically referred to by name otherwise.

Much like Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece Spirited Away, our story will take part in an otherworldly realm that takes place during the modern era, yet there will be no advanced technology present within the bathhouse / brothel, nor surrounding villages. Such is the result of an unspoken rule to keep "human made things" out of the Alternate Realm as much as possible. The creatures, and beasts of said realm are, as a whole, a deeply prideful collective whom would more often than not prefer to avoid crossing paths with items constructed by mortals. Whom of which typically view them as lesser beings akin to insects, or a rare delicacy to be devoured on sight if given the opportunity.

    - Societal Caste System

Bloodline, bloodline, bloodline. When residing in a world of Monsters, Beasts, and Gods, ones lineage is directly linked to how those around you view your "worth" amongst the masses. In said society there lies an ever present hierarchy that most are forcibly contained inside of from the moment they are born, and up until they take their very last breath. A type of Food Chain, if you will. One that has been in place since time immemorial. In this system, both the purity of your blood, aka if you are a Pure-Blood, Full-Blood, or Mixed Breed, as well as the exactly type of Yokai your family consists of, effectively decides your place within the world ( Ex. Tanuki, and Kitsune are infamous for their mischievousness, and so are mistrusted/discriminated against by some ). Your lineage also serves as a deciding factor when it comes to ones abilities, and just how much power they will possess.

    Hierarchy Breakdown

    - Deities / Gods -
    Top Tier.
Deeply revered for their immense power, status, and wide-scale notoriety.

    - Demi-Gods -

Exceedingly rare offspring of a Deity and a lesser species.
Do not usually survive to full term due to a plethora of medical complications.
    - Must gain permission from GM to create a Demi-God -

    - True PureBloods -
Granted a noticeable amount of status amidst their respective native territories.
The pristine lineage of their bloodlines always meticulous maintained by the reigning Heads ( Leaders ) of their families.
Bearing young outside of another pure line strictly forbidden, and punishable by exile or death.

    - Full-Bloods -

The standard / majority. Those whose families are not entirely pure, but instead possess some mixing several generations ago.
Due to how long ago the mixing occurred the current generations are now once again a single species.
No longer considered 'Mixed Breeds'. Basically the majority of the population as a whole, this consists of your everyday Yokai.

    - Mixed Breeds -

Individuals spawned by parents of two different species, and quite possibly two different social classes.
They are considered to be abominations of the highest degree by most.

By extension, it has always been considered commonplace to kill mixed breed offspring, lest a potential scandal occur amidst high-society families, and infidelity be brought to light. Others engaging in self-justified acts of "mercy" should the union of their blood result in deformities within said offspring.
    - Only 1 Mixed Breed Creation per Participant -

    ____

    - Genuine Beasts / Bakemono -
Yokai that possess just their most basic of instincts in order to survive, low to moderate intelligence, and not much else.
These are what make up the "wild animal" population of native Japanese forests, mountains, etc.
What they lack in cognizant reasoning is made up in spades by aggression, brute strength, and unpredictability.
For the small few able to be tamed, they become Beast Mounts, or Pets.
In contrast, others are used as exotic ingredients, furs, livestock, food, and/or for sport.

    - Currency

When it comes to the Japanese Region of the Alternate Realm, items, goods, and services can be 'purchased' through one of two ways. With the usage of coins ( gold, silver, copper, and iron ), or by utilizing the bartering system. The latter of which consists of the exchanging of services and good, for other services and goods deemed to be of relatively equal value. Both methods are commonplace within said region. Although locations with denser populations tend to favor coins, and will at times, refuse to barter in an attempt to procure monetary wealth for themselves. In contrast, smaller more modest villages rely upon bartering as payment due to the lack coin distribution in their respective areas.

It is also worth mentioning that due to Kaburi-Tsuki's guests hailing from foreign lands it is expected that some may not possess the coins that Japanese natives are accustomed to. As a result, there are those who pay for their stays with exceedingly rare artifacts, majestic gifts, and outrageously extravagant items not typically seen by the public. These are personally accepted by Mitsuru-sama before being stored amidst the jaw-dropping private collection he has amassed over the centuries. Said collection full of things people would slaughter their own families to possess for themselves. Unfortunately for them not a single soul, aside from him, are aware of its location.

    - Transportation

In order to traverse between Point A and Point B, there are a number of ways in which the region's natives get around. The main one is far less dazzling than the rest, and yet effective nonetheless. Walking. Much like Humans, Monsters and beasts alike, are at times content with just their legs. The second means of travel consists of flight. Many beings within the Alternate Realm are quite capable of flying. Be they able to do so by the aide of their very own wings, the wings/powers of another, or magic.

The third involves an Oxcart Carriage Yokai that have a tendency to be utilized by those with enough status to own them for their personal use. These are known as Oboroguruma, and they are able to both navigate atop land, as well as take flight for more extended distances. Its wheels burst with flames as it glides throughout the night sky without a need to be pulled.

The fourth method entails the usage of Beast Mounts, formerly wild monsters ( Bakemono ) that have been tamed enough to be handled, and rode upon. Mounts come in many shapes, sizes, and overall types, depending on where they hail from. Some mounts are fairly universal beyond specific regions with some variations in blood line, and cross-breeding having occurred. Be it naturally in the wild, or encouraged by outside sources.

    Examples Of Beast Mount Types
Feline Canine Avian Ram Boar Reptilian Other

The fifth, and final means of transportation are reserved only for those of exceedingly high standing. Those of whom include Deities of various Pantheons, Yokai royalty, and the like. These are known as Convoy Ships. Said ships are massive in size, multi-leveled, and able to both fly, as well as ride atop water. They are typically custom made, very expensive, and travel in small fleets.

    hsugRDd.gif

    - Fashion

For the most part the Eastern Hemisphere of the Alternate Realm, its Japanese sector included, prefer their lives to consist of deeply rooted traditional aspects in comparison to the West. Easily seen by their preferences for more dated garb. For the Japanese, that includes kimonos, yukata, fundoshi, kosode, haori, tabi, getas, hakama, furisode, and so on ( More Info ). All still very much considered normal everyday attire in regards to the location of our story. Additionally, amidst the rest of the East of the Alternate Realm, as a whole 'western clothing' is also not nearly as popular, nor frequently seen.

Especially when it comes to the older generation of Kami, Yōkai, and Ayakashi whom have little interest in "current" trends beyond their country's borders. They also tend to care significantly less about gender-specificity in regards to who is "allowed" to wear what as opposed to the Human Realm's more rigid standard.

    - Architecture

Similarly to their perspective on fashion, and overall 'luxury', it's apparent that Alternate Realm Japan has also remained true to their more traditional roots in terms of architecture. Still mainly comprised of elaborate wooden structures, as opposed to the steel, and iron common of the current era, it's Fedual aesthetic is nothing short of a sight to behold. Tatami mat weavers, fine silk tapestry artisans, and wood carving makers have yet to fade into obscurity as the wealthy continue to invest their limitless funds into maintaining these 'antiquated' businesses.

Castles, stone statues, shrines, bathhouses, and handmade kimono boutiques still serving as prideful representations of their rich, and vibrant culture, Deities, and guests visit quite frequently in order to revel in their timeless magnificence.

    Inside Kaburi-Tsuki
    ____

Information Specific to Kaburi-Tsuki As a Business
    [ - General - ]

    - ** The Kaburi-Tsuki is an extension of the one referred to as Goshujinsama.

The well-famed proprietor of Kaburi-Tsuki is an infamously mysterious Nogitsune ( Dark Void Kitsune ) widely referred to by the wait staff as 'Goshujinsama' ( Master / My Lord ), 'Mitsuru-sama', or Lord Mitsuru. Known by countless aliases he's acquired over a millennia of existence, those three are most commonly used as a sign of not only his reputation, but the overall respect that his position calls for. Very rarely does one ever hear another address him otherwise beneath the roof of his thriving establishment. That is unless a guest, acquaintance, friend, or a being older than himself decides to pay Kaburi a long overdue visit. Perhaps even someone seeking to have their tongue snatched free of their mouths, and eagerly devoured by the eight-tailed beast as punishment.

Prestige, and status aside, Mitsuru-sama serves as not just its owner, but also as Kaburi's main power source. His seemingly 'bottomless' reservoir of magic is essentially the battery that keeps it functioning at its most optimal level. As a by-product of this, he rarely ever leaves the establishment, nor its surrounding property, and if he does, never strays too far. In a way he's bound to the now widely famed bathhouse / brothel he's created.

It is both his pride, and his prison.

** [ This is a fact that only an exceedingly select few are aware of in the form of Mitsuru's most trusted confidants. Should this information ever be leaked it could spell destruction for this otherworldly haven, as well as Mitsuru as a whole. His countless enemies liable to finally seize their chance to topple all that he's built, and in his final moments claim his head as their prize. ]

    - Kaburi-Tsuki Guest Check In Protocol

Never ones to skimp on style, and flare, even the most modest, and reclusive Deities possess a tendency to arrive in grand fashion. Be it upon a pure gold chariot capable of flight via glorious winged Beast Mounts, atop the back of ferocious and rare monster native to their homeland, or even on the surface of a magically enchanted cloud, each God has their own travel preference. Nonetheless, upon gracing the front doors of Kaburi-Tsuki, clients are always greeted with the utmost professionalism, and warmth. Whether the God be a first-time guest, or a frequent regular. If they've arrived with a Beast Mount then said animal companion shall be ushered under the supervision of the bath house Beast Mount Caregivers. Whom of which are well experienced with various types of animals, as well as their specific daily needs.

From there the guests are escorted into the ever lively Main Hall of the building. It is there that the front desk staff members double check for said God's reservation. Quickly referencing the massive mystical Tome that has recorded every, and all guests since Kaburi-Tsuki first opened its doors many centuries ago. After such is confirmed clients are then given a Jade Pendant infused with Fox-Fire in the form of a necklace or bracelet. Said charm is accompanied by an assigned Attendant ( and possibly a new-hire as well ) who dons a similar charm as their guest. Magically bound, and linked to one another the pendant in question serves as a direct link from God to Attendant, so that they have 24-hour access to their guide if need be.

The way in which this works involves the Deity firmly grasping their own charm within their hand before audibly verbalizing the name of their attendant. Once that is done the pendant's 'twin', that the Attendant wears, will glow amber before becoming moderately warm to the touch. As it does so the pendant will then start to gently lead the Attendant in the direction of its pair until the two are once again within the same vicinity. This only works in a one-sided way, and staff members are unable to "call" for their guest in the opposite manner. At the end of a client's stay the pendants are returned to the front desk after checkout.

    ____

    [ - For Clients / Guests - ]

    - Weakened Abilities and Negated Powers

As a means of ensuring that its immensely powerful clients, and guests do not ever destroy the structural integrity of Kaburi, there is a safety net in place. One whose perimeter of activation includes not only inside of the establishment, but also its surrounding property. This 'safety net' consists of powerful magic, the likes very few possess access to, temporarily sealing divine powers, and abilities. To a point. Said third-party magic does not entirely sap said Gods of all of their mojo, but juuuuust enough to prevent all Hell from breaking loose should anyone have one cup of sake too many.

Natural abilities like heightened senses, acute hearing, stamina, flight , etc remain fully intact while more destructive powers are temporarily sealed to a certain extent. Not entirely stripped away, but weakened to a degree that Mitsuru-sama could possibly handle them if any serious harm should befall his place of business, his loyal staff, or even himself. The few types of powers that are in fact fully negated would be ones like a Death God being able to steal the soul of another, and thus killing them.

Under his roof, and while on Kaburi-Tsuki property,
Mitsuru is a deity in his own right.

    - Client Sleeping Accommodations

Throughout their stay, be it brief or extended, Kaburi's guest rooms can be found amidst the Cho ( Dawn ) Wing. Located in the main building upon three of the highest floors, each room is spacious, beautifully designed, and tailored to the liking of its specific clients. For example, if a Deity that hails from Africa wishes for certain decor reminiscent of their homeland to be added to their room during their visit, then Kaburi will do its very best to acquire whatever they may desire. No request too "outrageous", within reason. Overall their rooms are Tatami-styled with impeccably soft futons, and blankets, unless the guest requests otherwise. Not to mention that every room comes with an attached terrace/balcony from which a gorgeous mountain side view is visible.

    - Client Pendant Retrieval

Should a new client, who has just experienced their very first stay within Kaburi-Tsuki be under the naive impression that the pendant given to them is a gift, they will find themselves sorely mistaken. The gems belong solely to the bath house, and are not able to leave the premises. Lest a Deity grow overly fond of an attendant, and subsequently seek to "call" for him anywhere beyond Kaburi-Tsuki property. If taken from the premises the pendant will automatically de-materialize from the foolish thief's possession, and re-appear within the hands of the nearest NPC Check-In Staff member.

    ____

    [ - For Employees - ]
    - A Summons from the Master

Always seemingly privy to even the smallest of occurrences under his roof through ones means of another, Mitsuru-sama does at times request audiences with members of his staff. "Request" serving as a nice way of coasting over the fact that no one, and I do mean no one, can decline a summons by the Master of Kaburi-Tsuki. When, and if you're summoned a wide set of dark elaborately designed sliding Fusuma Doors will appear out of thin air, and sentient-like shadow foxes will spill forth to coax their intended target inside. Should there be any resistance then the shadows foxes will become....more insistent. Applying force if need be. Either way you will step through those mysterious doors, and be transported to wherever Mitsuru-sama sees fit to greet you. Be it his private study, beside the Koi pond, or his personal chambers.

All will become clear upon your arrival.

    - Work Dress Code

Being the upscale establishment that it is, Kaburi-Tsuki employees are unsurprisingly expected to maintain a neat, clean, and put together appearance. They must appear professional, and alluring for their ever-watchful clientele. By extension, all staff members possess several tailor made "uniforms' specifically for on-the-clock tasks. Kaburi's signature uniform colors are that of black and gold. An amber Fox crest adorning some section of said attire. These uniforms come in various forms be it a full kimono, yukata, hakama, etc. Depending on an employee's body type, and size, even a fundoshi or another variation of a loincloth could be worn. The latter two options typically most ideal for Onsen Attendants, as well as staff members with additional limbs who are in need of less clothing for optimal maneuverability.

    - ** Burning the Midnight Oil
( Charms only donned by Attendants )

Unlike many other positions within Kabuki-Tsuki, attendants do not have a set schedule to adhere to. In fact, so long as their assigned God wishes for their company, and presence, an attendant is technically able to work non-stop. Doing so until their client officially checks out of the bath house. The system that is used in order to ensure that the guests have constant access to their attendant, regardless of the hour, are the usage of Fox Fire Fueled Charms.

Said process comes in the form of a Jade Pendant that all attendants are given soon after becoming initially employed. This gem is customized to the preferences of specific attendants, be it turned into an earring, necklace, bracelet, belly piercing charm, and so on. When/if your respective charge is in need of your assistance "after hours", a similar wearable pendant ( that all clients are given upon check-in. ie either just a necklace or bracelet ) that they, and the attendant must wear at all times will share a one-sided link. One that if the God verbalizes the name of their attendant while firmly grasping their pendant, its 'twin' will not only glow a vibrant amber, but also become warm against the employee's skin. Not enough to cause physical harm, but merely heat up so that the fact its been activated is noticeable. Lest said worker be asleep, some distance away, etc. In addition to that the fire embedded within the charm will be able to guide you to the exact location of your client.

Attendants may not ignore the call of their God. An attendant who declines the call of their client, for any reason, is subject to severe consequences from the Owner himself. Followed by a possible demotion, or worse....Now then! For "Fresh Meat" attendants the charms they receive be slightly different in comparison to the rest. Due to the fact that they must shadow a Vet, their pendant will be directly linked to both the supervisor assigned to them, as well as the guest. Performing the same function whether the God calls for just the new-hire and/or also the experienced Vet. Both parties are to tag along together, or face shared punishment.

** [ In short, this means that the newbie is question must accompany said supervisor,
and vice verse, in attending to whatever their Deity desires. ]

    - Kaburi-Tsuki Staff Sleeping Quarters

As an establishment in need of round the clock care should a client need assistance, its staff members not only work, but live on site as well. Attendants quickly, and easily able to be called upon by their assigned God via the aforementioned Fox Fire powered charm. Nonetheless all Kaburi employees reside amidst a separate wing strictly just for its workers to lounge, rest, and relax when not on 'active' duty. This place is referred to as the Hoshi ( Star ) Wing by those who live there. When it comes to how room arrangements are broken down everyone has their very own room that is theirs to decorate as they please.

In terms of overall interior decor every room is initially tatami styled just like most of the rooms of the guests within the main building. Albeit far more modest in overall size, and furnishing. However, it may be styled to better suit whomever it belongs to later on. Each room includes a closet in order to store fluffy futons, warm blankets, multiple tailor-fitted uniforms, and other personal belongings. Also lanterns fueled by fox fire. Whatever else found within the room was purchased and/or brought by whomever the room belongs to.

As far as bathing, and a place to eat meals are concerned, workers are free to bathe amidst one of the many baths within the main building. The best time to do so while avoiding guests typically very early in the morning before sunrise. Although who knows who you may find yourself bathing next to regardless of the hour. For meals, there is a staff dining room beside the main building via a massive kitchen. Workers are expected to clean up after themselves in both situations when finished.

    - Kaburi-Tsuki Payroll, Tips & Gifts

Despite any circulating rumors claiming the contrary, Mitsuru does in fact pay his employees. Each, and every hired hand under the Kaburi-Tsuki roof is paid a handsome portion of the overall revenue collected by the guests via standard stay payments, sponsors, monetary gifts, "hush money", and so on. Additionally, whatever personal gifts given to the attendants / staff at large, are allowed to be kept.

Be they a heavy pouch of gold coins, expensive custom-tailor garb, precious gems, rare one of a kind accessories, foreign furs, fine silk, rich oils/perfumes, etc, Mitsuru has never requested "his share" of personally given items. As a result of the policy, more 'well-liked' attendants adorned with coveted items are typically viewed as more desirable by other guests, and scorned by jealous fellow co-workers.

    - Letting your Freak Flag fly

Intimate relations with clients, and fellow employees isn't prohibited in the least. So long as you manage to finish your assigned tasks, of course. In fact, it's no secret that many of those on the premise, be they guest or staff, activity engage in debaucherous fun multiple times a day. Every day. Everywhere. In truth that plays a key part in exactly why Kaburi-Tsuki's client base is as loyal as it is. Extending their stay each visit in order to acquire as many notches on their belt as possible. Surpassing their previous record over time. Employees, nowhere close to innocent by comparison, they make daily bets with one another as to how many Gods they can devour, or coax attention from on any given day.

Please read very carefully

It is here within this thread that all Characters, be they Mains or NPCs, for Kaburi-Tsuki shall be posted for approval. All characters will be stored within a single post that belongs to each specific participant of the group. In other words, after your very first creation is completed, and approved by @ObsidianMiscreant, every other Character of yours is to be added to that very same post. The most seamless way to achieve this would be to utilize tabs, accordions, or spoiler tags in order to keep your respective sections neat, and organized lest your fellow writers need to find/refer back to certain bios in the future. If you are unfamiliar with BBcode then please take some time to peruse Iwaku's coding guide page.

- Multiple Character Bio Posts will be asked to be deleted -

Character Creation Guidelines

Inside of the spoiler lies a repeat of the overall group stipulations as pertains to Characters.
Be sure to keep each in mind as you delve into the creation process.

Sound "unfair"? Consider this situation from the outside looking in. If during interaction after interaction certain participants consistently place all four ( or most ) of their characters into play at once, but then quickly find themselves unable to juggle their various creations for one reason or another. By extension they either leave most of their IC partners in limbo for long lengths of time, or can never wrap up all of their respective interactions prior to transitioning into the following IC segments. That is what is truly "unfair". For one's selfishness, and inability to know their own limits to allow the rest of the group to suffer, or stagnate.

The Deities that reside both within the Human Realm, and Alternate Realm serve as the Kaburi-Tsuki's precious clientele base. Their abundant wealth, influence, and status providing the bathhouse-brothel hybrid with the vital funds needed to supply its guests with any amenity their hearts desire.

Remember, the Alternate Realm is a mirror of the Human Realm in terms of overall geography, and so Deities beyond Japan / Eastern Hemisphere come to stay at Kaburi-Tsuki just as often as everyone else. Similar to the reality, they venture here for vacation, business trips, honeymoons, or simply to indulge in a pleasurable experience not attainable anywhere else in the world.

** Your Deities can be whatever sex and gender you would like them to be regardless of how they may typically be depicted in their respective lore.

After your creations are up the GM will thoroughly look them over before posting via the OOC whether they've been approved or not. If your character has been approved then they are cleared for IC play. However, if they were not approved then the GM will inform you of exactly why, and work to help you remedy that.

Nor are they ever able to maintain the "spotlight" of a post.

This may only be done once, and is non-reversible so consider this privilege with care.

Here lies the Celestial Tome to aid in narrowing down what types of Deities may suit your personal tastes. As one can surmise this roleplay takes place in the Japanese region of the Alternate Realm, despite that I deeply encourage everyone to create non-Japanese / East Asian deities for their mandatory slot.

The entire world is full of lore, myths, and fascinating beasts for you to choose from. Kaburi-Tsuki is a world renowned hot spot for both high-powered deities, common slum dwellers, and every beast in-between alike to share the same space. For a fee, of course.

He and his wife / sister, Izanami, were responsible for the birth of the islands of Japan and many Kami, though she * died in childbirth. Amaterasu-Ōmikami (天照大神) - The goddess of the sun as well as the purported ancestress of the Imperial Household of Japan. Her name means "Shines from Heaven" or "the great kami who shine Heaven". For many reasons, one among them being her ties to the Imperial family, she is often considered (though not officially) to be the "primary god" of Shinto

Fūjin (風神) - Also known as Kami-no-Kaze, he is the Japanese god of the wind and one of the eldest Shinto gods, said to have been present at the creation of the world. He is often depicted as an Oni with a bag slung over his back.

Kisshōten (吉祥天) - A minor goddess of good fortune, also known as Kichijōten, Kisshoutennyo (吉祥天女), and as Kudokuten (功徳天), Kisshōten is the Shinto adaption, via Buddhism, from the Hindu goddess, Lakshmi.

Ryūjin (龍神) - Also known as Ōwatatsumi, he is a dragon, as well as god of the sea. He resides in Ryūgū-jō, his palace under the sea built out of red and white coral, from where he controls the tides with magical tide jewels. His great-grandson would become Emperor Jimmu.

Susanoo-no-Mikoto (須佐之男尊) - Alternately romanized as Susano-o, Susa-no-o, and Susanowo. Reportedly called "Futsushi". He is the god of storms as well as in some cases the god of the sea. He is also somewhat of a trickster god, as Japanese mythology extensively documents the "sibling rivalry" between him and Amaterasu. Susanoo also was responsible for the slaying of the monster Yamata no Orochi and the subsequent discovery of the sacred sword Kusanagi.

In terms of the many other types of creatures, beasts, and monsters found across the world, this Bestiary may serve as a helpful asset. This, like the previous tab, will merely act as a guide in case any of you find yourselves lost, and in need of a small push in the right direction.

Said Bestiary will include Humanoid, Semi-humanoid, and Non-humanoid examples of a multitude of species you can find in mythology. Some more vicious, and violent then others depending on the lore behind them, as well as how you, as their creator wish to portray them. You're also free to grant them various forms, if applicable. ( ie. An Inugami with a 'human', 'canine', and possibly an 'in-between' form ) Or perhaps allow them to remain more beast-like than anything else on a regular basis.

It is typically depicted as a stiff corpse dressed in official garments from the Qing Dynasty, and it moves around by hopping, with its arms outstretched. Impundulu - The Impundulu or Lightning Bird is a supernatural bird from Pondo, Zulu, and Xhosa folklore. The South African bird is as big as a human and can summon lightning and storms, hence the name. The bird is sometimes a shape shifter that can appear as a human, and sometimes said to be a supernatural familiar that guards a witch or witch doctor. It will attack people and drink their blood. However, parts of the Impundulu or its eggs have medicinal powers.

Adze - The Adze is a vampire in the legends of the Ewe people of Ghana and Togo. It takes the form of a firefly, but if you capture one, it will revert to human appearance. This can be dangerous in itself, because in its human form the adze may attack and eat your organs, but it can be defeated.

Popobawa - The creature is a demon who appears as a normal human by day, and a one-eyed, bat-winged monster at night. The Popobawa attacks and sodomizes both men and women in the dark of night, and is particularly vicious to those who don't believe in him.

Griffin - A legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle's talons as its front feet. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle the king of birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin was also thought of as king of all creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions.

Sphinx - It has the head of a human, the haunches of a lion, and sometimes the wings of a bird. It is mythicised as treacherous and merciless. Those who cannot answer its riddle suffer a fate typical in such mythological stories, as they are killed and eaten by this ravenous monster. This deadly version of a sphinx appears in the myth and drama of Oedipus. Unlike the Greek sphinx, which was a woman, the Egyptian sphinx is typically shown as a man (an androsphinx). In addition, the Egyptian sphinx was viewed as benevolent, but having a ferocious strength similar to the malevolent Greek version and both were thought of as guardians often flanking the entrances to temples.

    Regions of Europe

    - Native European Monsters - ( Click on their names )

Faerie / Fae - Fairies are generally described as human in appearance and having magical powers. Some smaller fairies could expand their figures to imitate humans. On Orkney, fairies were described as short in stature, dressed in dark grey, sometimes seen in armour. In some folklore, fairies have green eyes. Some depictions of fairies show them with footwear, others as barefoot. Wings, while common in Victorian and later artworks, are rare in folklore; fairies flew by means of magic, sometimes perched on ragwort stems or the backs of birds. Modern illustrations often include dragonfly or butterfly wings.

** Two of the most prominent categories, derived from Scottish folklore, are the division into the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Courts.

The Seelie Court are known to seek help from humans, to warn those who have accidentally offended them, and to return human kindness with favors of their own. Still, a fairy belonging to this court will avenge insults and could be prone to mischief. The Unseelie Court consists of the darkly-inclined fairies. Unlike the Seelie Court, no offense is necessary to bring down their assaults. As a group (or "host"), they appear at night and assault travelers, often carrying them through the air, beating them, and forcing them to commit such acts as shooting at cattle. Like the beings of the Seelie Court who are not always benevolent, neither are the fairies of the Unseelie Court always malevolent.

Goblin - They are ascribed various and conflicting abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. They are almost always small and grotesque, mischievous or outright malicious, and greedy, especially for gold and jewelry. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon. Similar creatures include brownies, dwarfs, duendes, gnomes, imps, and kobolds.

Cat sìth - A fairy creature from Celtic mythology, said to resemble a large black cat with a white spot on its chest. Legend has it that the spectral cat haunts the Scottish Highlands. The legends surrounding this creature are more common in Scottish folklore, but a few occur in Irish. Some common folklore suggested that the Cat Sìth was not a fairy, but a witch that could transform into a cat nine times.

Cù Sìth - According to Scottish folklore, the Cù-Sìth is said to be the size of a young bull with the appearance of a dog. Its fur is shaggy, and usually cited as being dark green though sometimes white. Its tail is described as being long and either coiled up or plaited (braided). Its paws are described as being the width of a man's hand.

Selkie - Meaning "seal people" are mythological beings capable of changing shape from seals to human by shedding their skin, found in Scottish folklore mostly in Orkney and Shetland.

Hellhound- A hellhound is a supernatural dog in folklore. A wide variety of ominous or hellish supernatural dogs occur in mythologies around the world. Features that have been attributed to hellhounds include mangled black fur, glowing red eyes, super strength and speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, and a foul odor. Certain European legends state that if someone stares into a hellhound's eyes three times or more, that person will surely die. In cultures that associate the afterlife with fire, hellhounds may have fire-based abilities and appearance.

Manticore - Legendary creature similar to the Egyptian sphinx. It has the head of a human, body of a lion and a tail of poisonous spines similar to porcupine quills, while other depictions have it with the tail of a scorpion. There are some accounts that the spines can be shot like arrows, thus making the manticore a lethal predator. It eats its victims whole, using its triple rows of teeth, and leaves no bones behind.

Black dog - A black dog is a spectral or demonic entity found primarily in the folklore of the British Isles. The black dog is essentially a nocturnal apparition, some of them shapeshifters, and are often said to be associated with the Devil or described as a ghost or hellhound. Its appearance was regarded as a portent of death. It is generally supposed to be larger than a normal dog and often has large glowing eyes. It is sometimes associated with electrical storms.

With that being said I will provide a convenient starting point:

Amidst our depraved world lies quite a number of Playable roles in which your many Characters can busy themselves with. These include positions found in Kaburi-Tsuki as well as Others that are outside of its walls, yet are deeply tied to the establishment via amicable business relations that Mitsuru-Sama has maintained over the centuries. The latter roles will grant said Characters special entry into Kaburi-Tsuki despite the fact that they are non-Deity nor employed creations. As a result, each one will in fact have a relationship with Mitsuru. Be it strictly business, or more complex than that. The extent of such can be discussed in depth between you, and the GM behind the scenes.

Now then, before we begin to skim through all of these positions, I would like to remind everyone that
no IC roles are set in stone, nor claimed until a Character wishing to fill it has been completed, AND approved by the GM.

    d38dFS4.png

    Available IC-Roles
    ___

There will be a set predetermined number of slots for specific roles. This will be done as a means of making sure that not every Character attempts to be a "Naive newbie" that is stereotypically clumsy, easily confused, and what have you. Kaburi-Tsuki has been around for a very long time, and during that time has amassed not only loyal clients, but immensely professional veteran workers as well. Realistically not everyone can be wide-eyed, and bushy-tailed as they learn the ropes for the very first time.

In addition to IC roles that are solely reserved for employees, and business associates linked to Kaburi, there will be a single exclusive slot that will be set aside for one the most prevalent figures in Japanese Mythology. Enma Daiō aka King Enma, the ruler of the Japanese Sector Of Hell for both the Human, and Alternate Realms. Said role will be deeply tied to Mitsuru for a number of reasons due to the past that they've shared with one another via an exceedingly...hazardous relationship that has continued for centuries.

This position does not need to be filled by a participant, but will be put on the table lest someone take an interest. If that does turn out to be the case, and someone wishes to play King Enma then you must contact the GM.

He will absolutely not be permitted to be used in active play otherwise.

    ______

    The Ruler Of Japanese Purgatory

    [ - Bane of Mitsuru's Existence - ]
Having served as the ruler of Hell ( Japan sector of both realms ) since time immemorial, Enma Daiō possesses a dual persona that most would never be inclined to believe to exist. Despite the fearsome manner in which the aged texts, and artistic depictions of the Human realm paint of himm Enma is known amidst the Alternate realm as a compassionate ruler. Yet, little do the latter masses know, there lies a deep seeded depravity that over a millennia of overseeing the torture, and damnation of countless souls have instilled within him. In short, appearances can be immensely deceiving.

    - Availability -
    Enma Daiō / Great King Enma - 0 / 1
    Gozu ( Ox-Head Demon Guard) - 0 / 1
    Mezu ( Horse-Head Demon Guard ) - 0 / 1

    ** [ Mitsuru's Personal Entourage ]
    ( Males and/or Intersex Characters Only )

In order to properly run Kaburi-Tsuki as efficiently as possible it stands to reason that its Owner would be in need of his own group of specialized personnel. These roles are a cut above the rest in the sense that Mitsuru possesses deep trust within them, and by extension keeps them quite close to his hip. So much so that they've been granted their own quarters close to Mitsuru's personal wing, and thus reside separately from the rest of the employees. This includes positions pertaining to his overall well-being, as well as the well-being of his business endeavors.

    - Availability -
    Personal Attendants / Bodyguards - 1 / 2
    Personal Healer / Potion Brewer / Medical Provider - 0 / 1

This entails escorting them from one floor, or room, to another, as well entering the Onsens ( bathing facilities ) with them, if requested. They also welcome guests, and are typically assigned to a single specific client throughout their stay. It is expected of these attendants to thoroughly please their guests in whatever way they deem most suitable. This role holds great importance due to the fact that Kaburi's attendants spend the most time interacting with its prestigious guests. They, as well as the guests are adorned with Fox Fire Charm Pendants in order to maintain communication while on the premise.

With an amazing array of cuisine offered within Kaburi-Tsuki its guests quite literally salivate at the mouth for its delectable dishes. Mainly specializing in traditional Japanese cuisine with an Alternate Realm twist ( ie. Human meat served instead of chicken upon guest request ), the chefs of Kaburi are nonetheless fully capable of also preparing meals from other parts of the world. In short, they cater to their clients varying palettes in order to leave their guests looking forward to their next dish.

Said workers are fast on their feet, paws, wings, and tails as they set out to the dining areas to fill orders at top speed. This also includes food, and tea servers.

    On-Site Shamisen Players - 0 / 2
    Performers - 0 / 4

    [ Security Personnel ]
( All Sexes and Genders Welcomed )

Being the outstanding success that it is Kaburi-Tsuki does in fact have enemies whom would love nothing more to infiltrate its walls, and see it crumble from the inside-out. As a result, it does possess its own security staff as a means of lessening the likelihood of an ill-intent snake slithering its way inside. They also serve as peacekeepers lest drunken guests become too unruly for the attendants to handle on their own.

The direct supervisor of Kaburi's security personnel is none other than Mitsuru-sama's oldest personal guard, Genkei.

    - Availability -
    Kaburi Guards - 0 / 4

[ Landscape Aesthetics / Beast Mount Care ]
( All Sexes and Genders Welcomed )

The overall condition, and state of the exterior of Kaburi-Tsuki's vast property is just as imperative as its interior. Because of that its outside gardens, and flower patches are maintained by diligent workers who are known for their green-thumbs. Said employees are typically well-versed in plant life, be they in possession of abilities pertaining to such, or simply have a background in botany.

Last, but certainly not least comes the position of Caregiver to the various different types of Beast Mounts that require looking after during their owner's stay at Kaburi. These mounts consist of various kinds of monsters that range in size, species, temperament , and dietary needs. This job is not to be taken lightly under the assumption that every mount will be fully tamed, or accustomed to being handled by strangers.

    [ Owner's VIPs ]
( All Sexes and Genders Welcomed )

These specific roles include occupations not found on Kaburi-Tsuki property, but somewhere within the nearest village. Due to the fact that these individuals are not Deities, nor on-site employees, they have been granted special permission to enter the establishment as business guests and/or acquaintances of Mitsuru-sama.

When this occurs, they are usually summoned to Mitsuru's private quarters soon after being welcomed within the main hall of the establishment. From there they may either spend some time being pampered like any other guest, or may be shown around by the Owner himself throughout the duration of their stay.

Please bear in mind that East Asian Deities will be capped at only 3 within the story. Also remember that everyone is required to create at least one Deity. In comparison to Main Characters, NPCs are considered background individuals used for the purpose of filling out a scene. To add a touch of flare to any given IC moment it is their job to step in as needed, but to never fully take reign of an entire interaction on their own. By extension they aren't in need of a fully fleshed out bio. However, we as a group do need to be aware of their presence if you wish them to serve as reoccurring pieces of the storyline.

Your NPCs are to be edited into, and added to your initial Character Index post in a separate section than your Main Characters.

    The Alternate Realm

    hARD0vA.gif

    - Please read very carefully -

It's also worth noting that the passage of time within the Alternate Realm far differs from that of the Human world.

This tab will fill you in on what to expect from our IC 'World' ( Alt Realm Japan, specifically ). A condensed, yet nonetheless extensive rundown to aide in navigating our impending story. Should you ever need a refresher now, and again, feel free to check back here.

All of the information below will include specific details both useful to not only your Characters from an IC perspective, but also you as a writer who needs to be aware of certain details in order to mentally envision some semblance of what the GM "sees" when it comes to everything that will take place, and why things are/have to be a specific way.
    okgS3Sk.png

    - No usage of Advanced modern Technology within the Alternate Realm,
but it does in fact exist, can be spoken about, and referred to by name otherwise.

Basically the majority of the population as a whole, this consists of your everyday Yōkai.

    ____

    - Genuine Beasts / Bakemono -
Yōkai that possess just their most basic of instincts in order to survive, low to moderate intelligence, and not much else.
