Mieko woke up to the sound of birds chirping. The sun was rising once again. She stretched and rubbed the sleepiness from her eyes, then got up from the ground and walked over to the burned out camp fire. Pulling a small box of matched, she opened it and lit her last match she had, throwing it upon the remaining pieces of wood left from the last time she scavenged for twigs. Mieko looked around to find her small backpack full of a few changes of clothing. Once she opened it, she pulled out a new pair of clothing, then walked down towards the river to take a bath. Mieko strips off her clothing, setting her clean clothes on the ground, and then submerged into the river. Once she surfaced, she pulled back her hair from her face, and used her shirt she was wearing as a cloth to clean herself. She hummed a small little tune to herself, the same tune that her mother used to hum to her when she was a kid. Mieko stands there, hoping that today would be another good day.
