When A Good Man Goes to War

Image of Character:
nightmare-before-christmas-fan-art-by-ceasar-muyuela-jack
Name: Jack Skellington
Nickname:
Skeleton Jack
Gender: Male
Origin:
Halloween Town
Canon, OC, or Imagineer?: Canon
Species: Undead
Preferred Weapon(s):

Spiced Potion:
A special potion made for Jack by the Big Witch. A potion that when drank, it sets Jack on fire and enables him to jet flames in a straight line burning everything in his path.

Soul Robber
Created by Dr. Finklestein and given to Jack. The Soul Robber is a green slime that can change shape when Jack uses it.

Abilities/Powers:

Jack, being undead, is immortal and may or may not feel pain from certain things. At the climax of "This Is Halloween", he sets himself on fire without serious injury. He also has the ability to remove bones from his body. Jack can take off his head (to "recite Shakespearean quotations") and remove ribs to play fetch with his dog, Zero. We can tell he feels certain pain when he reacts negatively (and normally) when Sally accidentally pricks his thumb with a needle. Jack also is very flexible for being a skeleton and possesses incredible agility which makes it easy for him to climb ledges and walls. Occasionally hints are made to further powers, particularly during an episode in one of the original film's video-game spin-offs, in which he fights Oogie Boogie and his army of bugs with fire and ice magic as well as possible dark and musical magic.

Jack is very much a gentleman; graceful and patient in equal measures. He is usually calm and can be counted upon to do what is in everyone's best interest.

Though his logic is sound, his reasoning can be questioned at times. He was quite thorough in his Christmas research, but opted to go with what he and his friends knew when he decided to give Sandy Claws the year off and take over for him. He was also oblivious to Sally's feelings for him throughout most of the story. This is backed up by the fact that he barely even recognized Santa Claus's distress when they first met. It seems that Jack can be naïve at times, as shown that he trusted Lock, Shock, and Barrel enough that he believed that they would simply get him Santa Claus without causing trouble, despite them being allied with Oogie Boogie and being heavily armed. In addition to this, Jack didn't realize all the chaos he was causing on Christmas Eve until it was too late.

When Jack gets angry, he is unable to contain his frustration, as shown when Lock, Shock and Barrel bring him the Easter Bunny or, when dealing with Oogie Boogie. He did not hesitate to severely scare the trio or punish his old foe for endangering his friends with grim dedication. With Lock, Shock, and Barrel, he pulled his mouth open wide and roared, but with Oogie Boogie he promptly unstitched him.

It is also shown that Jack is incredibly curious, and loves to explore and discover. This is shown by his immediate fascination with Christmas and his excitement upon finding it. The musical number "What's This?" demonstrates his excited, upbeat personality very well as we see him dashing from one thing to the next, like an excited child.

Other:
Lost Zero to the Horned King

Has grown a thicker skin. Is less naive and more aggressive.

Ill put Alice up within the next few days.

malcolm_dewitt_by_herbomanic12-dbtgwlv.png

Name: Malcolm Dewitt

Nickname: "Mal"

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Origin: Earth

Canon, OC, or Imagineer?: Imagineer

Species: Human

Preferred Weapon(s): Excalibur, the Sword of King Arthur (Wart) and a second item, which will be revealed ICly.

Additional Items: The Armor of King Arthur (acquired later in the story)

Abilities/Powers:

As the Chosen Champion to wield Excalibur, many of Malcolm's abilities and powers stem from the holy light imbued within the blade, making him similar to a Paladin/Holy Knight in some respects.

 • Devine Sense - Malcolm has an innate sense that tells him if somebody is strong with magic. Whenever beings of light/strong magic users are near, Malcolm gets a warm, pleasant feeling in his chest. Whenever evil/beings with a powerful connection to darkness are near, Malcolm gets an uncomfortable, chilly feeling on the back of his neck. The benefits of knowing who is good/bad and how powerful they are with magic are pretty straightforwards, but the major downside to this ability is that it doesn't tell him where the source of the sensations originated from (basically, if a villain is nearby, all Malcolm can say is that he feels an evil presence, but can't tell exactly where it's coming from).
 • Devine Healing - Malcolm can heal wounds/injuries through physical contact, although the process can take a lot out of him physically and mentally depending on the injury. (ex. Minor injuries like a paper cut or sprained ankle are easy, more serious injuries like broken bones or flesh-wounds will make Malcolm more woosy, and attempting to heal a serious injury like a severed limb or even mortal wounds/death will most likely kill him).
 • Walt's Protection - Malcolm is capable of creating an energy shield imbued with the power of his sword's divine light by holding out his left hand and focusing his mind. The shield itself is a bubble that forms around his entire body, but by focusing his mind, he can expand the bubble so that it covers a small group of people. The longer he focuses, the longer the shield stays up, but like his healing ability, the more energy it drains from his body and mind.
 • Teachings of Merlin - Passed along to him from the sword's previous owner come the teachings of his master; Merlin the Wizard. As such, Malcolm possesses many of the abilities that King Arthur learned during his time spent with his mentor, such as the ability to cast basic elemental magic (fireball, lightning bolt, frost-blast, and wind manipulation), as well as the ability to teleport using magic-generated portals. These abilities are all yet to reach their full potential, however, since Malcolm never had proper training on how to hone them. As with all of his abilities, Malcolm must be careful when meddling with magic, as it will drain him of energy and possibly kill him if he tries to perform more advanced tricks without proper training.
 • "We're All Counting on Ya, Pal" - to be revealed ICly (this is an ability that all Imagineers possess).

Bio:

Ever since he was a kid, Malcolm didn't know much about his parents. They were both very secretive and kept their work lives completely separate from their personal lives. The most he knew about them was that his father worked for a world-renowned tech company as a researcher in the Biogenetics Lab, and his mother worked for the government... Or was it something to do with being outside of the government? They were peacekeepers, but... But that's about all Malcolm actually knew about their respective lines of work. He does, however, know just how much they loved him;

Enough to drop him off at his Aunt and Uncle's house without so much as a 'goodbye' when he was only five years old.

One moment, he was at home playing a game of hide and go seek with his father, Richard, when all of a sudden Richard came running out from his study, demanding that Mary pack up their things and help Malcolm get ready to leave. As it turned out, somebody had broken into the house and tore apart Richard's study, but luckily, nothing of value was stolen. Although Malcolm was only five, he still knew that a burglary required police attention. But before he knew it, he had a suitcase and a backpack stuffed with his toys, clothes, and the rest of his things. Once Mary made sure Malcolm was alright, Richard quickly got his family into their car and drove off into the storming night. Soon, they arrived at the home of Malcolm's Uncle Thomas and Aunt June, both of whom took Malcolm in without a second word. While the grown-ups tried to talk in private, Malcolm listened in. From what he gathered, there was more to the break-in and their home wasn't safe anymore. Richard and Mary had already made arrangements to go somewhere, but for one reason or another, they couldn't bring Malcolm, fearing for his safety.

As they left, Malcolm's mother wished him a tearful goodbye and his father gave him a reassuring smile. His aunt and uncle did their best to comfort him in the moment, but Malcolm was inconsolable as he silently watched his parents drive away for the last time, never to be seen again until their deaths were published in the Bugle a few months later.

From that point on, Malcolm tried to live a relatively normal life. He made friends, studied hard for his classes, had crushes on cute girls, and even got in a few fights with some of the other kids his age over 'what was right', but there was always a sense of emptiness that continuously weighed down his heart. What was so important that his parents would just up and abandon their only son? Why couldn't he go with them? But most importantly... Who were they trying to protect by leaving him behind? Themselves, or Malcolm?

Eventually, Malcolm managed to get past this feeling and had a relatively healthy development period from being a child to becoming a teenager. His aunt and uncle were always there for him and, since they couldn't have children of their own, treated Malcolm like the son they never had. Malcolm was always grateful to them for taking him in at a point in his life when things weren't really making sense and always did what he could to make them proud of him, be it offering to clean the house or even just keeping up with his studies.

Malcolm is a pretty normal kid all around, although his past has clearly left him with some serious trust issues. Those who know him best would say he's a natural leader, as he is able to get somebody to agree with him on almost any given subject, but Malcolm believes that more so to be a result of the way he says things rather than his beliefs alone. Malcolm's also quite the artist and, currently, he is studying at a top arts school to become an animator for none other than the Walt Disney Corporation; a dream he's had ever since he was a little kid.

Other: Malcolm used to go to LARP conventions when he was younger and as a result, learned the basics of how to properly handle a sword/fight on his own two legs without anything to aid in his battle.

Although he doesn't know how he'll ever get home, let alone how he and the other Imagineers are going to fight against the Horned King, Malcolm is secretly loving ever second of his time in the Disney lands given how much of a Disney-geek he is.

(This was the best I could find. Imagine him with cat ears and tail.)

Name: Thomas O'Malley the Alley Cat

Nickname: Tom, O'Malley

Gender: Male

Origin: The Aristocats

Canon, OC, or Imagineers?: Canon

Species: Neko

Preferred Weapons:
Thomas has taken to carrying knives and a small pistol ever since he was separated from Duchess and the kids. However, he still prefers fisticuffs.

Abilities/Powers:
9 Lives - As a cat, he's got a bit of protection. Not a lot, considering that he's gone through a few of them already, but he's trying to hold onto whatever he can. When faced with a life threatening scenario, during which survival would be a miracle, he will somehow make it out of the situation with minimal injury. This is evidenced by his fight with Edgar in the Aristocats, as well as him saving Marie from the river at the beginning of the film.

Bio:
Thomas O'Malley is, was, and forever will be a streetwise alley cat. While he relished in his life of no responsibilities, he wound up falling for a pretty dame and her kids were impossible to walk away from. As such, he adapted into more of a fatherly role. That doesn't stop him from having a little fun with Scat Cat and the gang every now and then with their performances... or at least their attempts at them. They never got the chance to perform at the House of Mouse before the entire world went bad.

He has a tendency to make snap judgements, though that's what kept his tail attached for this long. He tries to do his best by teaching the kids not to repeat his mistakes. Thinking things through has never been one of his strongsuits, considering that he did jump into a river to save Marie without really knowing how to swim. He's still trying to live down that one. If he had to "think goose" one more time over the course of that trip he might have ended up cursing in front of the kids. He has a bit of a big ego, and constantly being belittled by two uppity geese was a serious strain on him.

Whatever he does, he does it with confidence. He takes things in stride and is capable of thinking on his feet. As evidenced on The House of Mouse, he doesn't really take letdowns to heart. "Showbiz. It happens." No matter the odds, he will rise up to protect what he sees as his. He refuses to give up on the idea that Duchess and the kids are alright and out there somewhere, waiting for him to get back to them.

Other:
"Perish the thought."

The Duck Avenger (Donald Duck)

Gender: Male

Origin: General Mickey & Friends Canon; heavily drawing on Donald Duck comics in characterization and Paperinik New Adventures comics in abilities

Canon, OC, or Imagineer?: Canon

Species: Duck

Preferred Weapon(s): He's good with guns, but he's learned to make do with whatever weapons he can find, and he's fully capable of defending himself even when unarmed, if necessary.

Abilities/Powers: As a toon, he's able to endure damage to a ridiculous degree as long as it's regarded as slapstick. He's also fairly athletic and acrobatic, and can hold his own in a fight. However, he has no powers that would be out of the ordinary for a normal man (or duck).

The Duck Avenger is a mysterious masked figure of the night. He appears all over the kingdom, hopping from one world to another, and giving local minor villains a headache. Nobody quite knows who he is or what his goal is, but he's reportedly gone on record to say he fights for good and justice, and to protect those who can't protect themselves.

However, despite his blatant disdain and antagonism towards the Horned King's forces, he's refused every single attempt of recruitment on part of Walt's Heroes, citing their lack in numbers and power, and expressing disbelief in the notion they'd ever be able to defeat the enemy forces.

It was pure luck that Donald wasn't there the day Toon Town fell. Whether it was good or bad luck- that's the thing he's not yet too sure of.

He was in Duckburg when it happened, busy doing whatever miserably-paid job Uncle Scrooge felt like having him do at the time. The kids were doing whatever it is they do, playing around, probably destroying something expensive. All around a pretty normal day, it seemed like. That wouldn't last.

Usually, the news wouldn't report happenings from other worlds. But this was unprecedented, terrifying and catastrophic. They all dropped what they were doing to watch the report of the events in real time. Nobody dared say a word.

It's been maybe a month since it happened. Mickey's still nowhere to be found, and neither are Minnie or Daisy. He refuses- refuses to think about what this means. If he lets himself dwell on it too long, he can feel the last shreds of hope he holds on to fade away.

Over the course of that month, everyone seems to have found their way into the money bin, where now Gladstone and Fethry seem to be pointedly not talking about anything while Scrooge rants about something to Gyro and the kids throw marbles across the room. Everyone seems to be waiting for the worst to happen; Duckburg is already crawling with villains, and it couldn't be much longer until they formally joined the Horned King and brought the city under their rule. Villains were spreading like an infection from the heart of the worlds, unstoppable.

Donald Duck glanced at his friends and family and knew they wouldn't go down so easily. Hell, thwarting takeover attempts was little more than a sunday family activity to them. Between Scrooge's experience, Gyro's inventions and Gladstone's ridiculous luck, they had a real shot at surviving whatever was thrown at them. But this was different; This was worse than anything they'd faced before. They were going to have to put everything they had into surviving.

And they wouldn't do it handicapped. They couldn't. Donald wouldn't let them.

Donald leaves in the middle of the night, stopping only at his house to suit up and pick up all the weapons he can, not because he's a coward (he lies to himself), but because they don't deserve to have him dragging them all down. They're smart, and resourceful, and they can push through anything, but they can't afford to be dealing with Donald's hurricane of bad luck jinxing their every step.

Donald Duck will disappear without a word, never to be heard from again, and the world will be better for it.

The Duck Avenger, on the other hand, will thrive.

+ Hard-working
+ Loyal
+ Athletic
+ Quick-Thinking
+ Determined

- Hair-Trigger Temper
- Supernaturally Bad Luck
- Lazy
- Stubborn
-Cowardly
Under the Duck Avenger identity, Donald is much more competent than his usual self, and stops doubting himself. However, all of his core character flaws are still very much intact and can be very much an issue when the push comes to shove.

Other: For this whole thing to work we'll have to work under dumb cartoon logic that nobody can tell the Duck Avenger is just Donald in disguise, despite it being obvious. This inability to recognize him extends to everyone except Imaginators, because they're non-fictional and not subject to cartoon logic.

Back before the villain's takeover, the Duck Avenger had a variety of items at his disposal:
- the 313-X (his trusted car, but modified to be able to fly);
- the Car-Can Sweeties, memory-erasing candies which he occasionally used to make people who find out his identity forget it;
- the X-Transformer Shield, a multipurpose gauntlet/shield looking weapon that can shoot, defend, paralyze, extend mechanical arms, and fly.
He is not in possession of these items anymore, and he might or might not recover them at some point down the line.
