It has been decades since the fall of Voldemort and his followers. A lot of progress has been made since then. The Ministry underwent massive reform under the administration of former Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt. Pureblood-centric laws have been abolished, and the ministry, allegedly cleansed of its corruption and prejudice, has never been better. Progress, in a smaller scale, has also been made in strides: the wizarding world has shed its old-fashioned ways and begun adopting modern technology and pop culture.

Some say that these changes are for the better, but there are those who would argue otherwise. For not all changes have been good; and sometimes what is proclaimed to be progress is, in fact, the opposite.

In 2019, the Progressive Society for Worldwide Peace and Cooperation (PSWPC) forced the Ministry's hand to reveal itself and the existence of the wizarding world to muggle society. Many believed this was for the best, that it was high time for both worlds to co-exist. And yet, relations between the two remain hostile.

It is the dawn of a new decade, and the polarizing political climate and sensationalist media have had a dire effect on the people. Misinformation and panic have been spreading. Although Voldemort was defeated years ago, his influence still remains. More and more, as society grows ever polarized, people are starting to regress to old habits. There are those who claim that Voldemort was an innocent man. And at least half of the wizarding population has begun rallying behind his modern incarnation, Julius Ainsworth, whilst loudly proclaiming their discontent for the current Minister.

Many believe that there would be a war soon. The only question is when.
CHAPTER I. THE WARY AND WEARY WIZARDS

Date: August 30th, 2020
Time: 11am
Event: Shopping for School Supplies
Weather: Sunny

It is a day before the start of term. Muggle-wizard relations are still tense in the wake of the recent terrorist attack. In order to ensure the safety of wizards and their homes, muggles are no longer permitted within any wizarding town or establishment. Meanwhile, the students of Hogwarts are to do their shopping in groups. The Leaky Cauldron--a pub that once connected London and Diagon Alley--has recently been closed down, forcing the students to take a different route to get to the shopping district.

It is a good thing that the professors of Hogwarts are watching over the students and taking lead. In this tumultuous time, these understandably anxious teenagers are easily frightened. With the professors around, things should go relatively smooth-sailing.

Felix Sloan

Location: Great Hall
Interactions: Jasper Grey
Felix was walking back to the dormitories, sucking on a lollipop with one hand and checking his Wizagram notifications with the other, when someone fell into step beside him. The blonde boy looked up to find Jasper, who seemed to be in a flirtatious mood today.

At his words, Felix eyed the boy from head to toe, then took the lollipop from his mouth long enough to speak, "Oh, wouldn't you like that?" His glossy lips formed a smile.

"Hon, if you think I look disheveled, you should look at yourself in the mirror." He stopped walking just then, trailing a finger on the other boy's chest. "You sure like to get my attention, following me around like an adorable little puppy," He fluttered his lashes at adorable.

This was an exaggeration of course, but he did find it rather amusing whenever Jasper would come up to him, clearly looking for some entertainment.

Her temple creased as she read his note, her teeth chewing upon her bottom lip. If there was one thing she tried to avoid, it would be gossip and rumours. As much as she partook in it at time, unable to help herself, she had always tried to steer away from them. For they make her uncomfortable and she would feel guilty afterwards. As much as she would hate for rumours about her to circulate, she would not wish that on anyone. Thus, it was of no surprise that she had not heard of this before.
I honestly do not know. He could be the person, but being jailed is probably just a rumour.
Curiosity piqued in her though it was doused rather quickly, especially when said person launched all of their items everywhere and created havoc. Lysandra clenched her fists to stop herself from fuming. She wanted to nox his ears, but for now, Nudging Arnold aside slightly with a smile, realising that he was trying to shield her, she took out her wand and pointed upwards towards the items, and recited a spell,
"Immobulus!"

Jasper allowed those fingers to wander for a moment before catching his hand eyes lit with amusement. "And you sure can't seem to help touching me whenever you can," he released his hand.

He raked his fingers through his brown hair, musing up the locks even more as he flashed Felix a rouge almost taunting look. "This, is just part of my appeal, wouldn't you agree?" He asked, arching a brow.

Although he definitely wasn't interested in guys, he did enjoy this little sparring match whenever it came around. Though he had thought up a suitable alternative for his time.

Sanguine Faust
Location: Muggle Studies -- Interactions: Oliver [@Adrian]

It seemed, to Sanguine at least, almost insulting to have them sit in a class solely focused on muggles of all things. What idiot decided that considering the situation, they still had to learn about the idiocy of muggles who thought attacking their whole society was a good idea? An angry sigh fell from Sanguine's lips, her head falling deeper into the curve of her palm as her cheek was squashed against her hand to keep her quiet as the teacher spoke - after all, she didn't exactly want detention already. Her green eyes stared angrily at the teacher despite her self-imposed silence, wanting for them to just vanish or something - anything that made them shut up already.

Quickly enough, Sanguine was thankful for the amusement Kellen caused.

Sanguine switched from looking absolutely angry and bored to looking generally, quite entertained. A large grin spread on the redheads lips, her attention drawn as she sat up, her arms folding across her chest as she watched the professor for their reactions. A sharp laugh left the half-vampires lips when ten points were taken from Gryffindor. "This is so much better than learnin' about those shitty muggles." She chuckled, leaning back into her chair with a huff as she grabbed a nearby pen, letting her fingers fiddle with the item as she turned to Oliver, "Seriously - why do we have to learn this shit? We should of skipped."

Next thing Sanguine knew, their items were up in the air much to her shock, before they were dropped from on top of them. An angry gasp fell from her lips when her 'notebook' had been dropped onto her head. It was barely noticeable but still, it had Sanguine angrily gritting her teeth as the book, now on her desk, fell open to reveal a random collection of rather bad doodles. Sanguine hurriedly slammed the book closed, not wanting anyone to see her doodles as her gaze slid to Oliver next to her. It was brief, but Sanguine noticed the wound, though short in its existence. Fuelling her anger, her grip tightened upon the notebook, crushing the front page in her grip as she looked around the room, before turning back to Oliver.

"Lets just get out of here."

Being a new transfer, Kellen wasn't all that acquainted with the school's layout just yet, so he let the girl lead the way. They eventually ended up two floors above where they'd started. At the end of that passageway was a door and behind it, what he assumed to be a secluded room.

The room was lit only by the sun streaming in through the windows. There were trophies of various shapes and sizes, some of which were ensconced within glass cases; others were simply perched upon tables or open shelves.

She tugged him into the room; not that she needed to, her words alone had a powerful pull over him. The boy grinned; her double entendre didn't escape his notice.

"You're the one who brought me here," he said, closing the door behind them as he inched towards her. Any trace of humor now left his face as he slowly pushed her to the wall. He barred any way out with an outstretched arm.

Once again, his gaze grew intense as he leaned close enough that he could feel her breath on his skin. His gaze wandered over to her lips for the second time that day. There was no reason he should resist, and Kellen wasn't exactly the type to hesitate. She'd made her intentions clear.

He closed the distance between them.

Rosabel Valentine
Location: Muggle studies --- Interactions: None
Rosa had been engaging in arguably, one of her favourite past times - taking a nap during a mostly useless class. In this case, Rosa was mostly lost to the dream world during her Muggle Studies class. It was a rather pleasant dream in fact. After spending most her time sleeping, if she could get away with it, Rosa was able to mostly lucid dream too. This time, Rosa was lost to a world where she had the chance to wear some of the most fashionable designs from the most recent fashion catalogue - an activity, even if not real, was far better than paying attention to her classwork.

Of course, like most times, Rosa was woken up by something. Normally, it was a professor to scold her for her daydreaming or napping but this time, it was rather the opposite. The angry shouts of the professor riled her from her sleep, causing bleary amber eyes to blink slowly open with a soft huff. It was regrettable that she awoke but in the very least, it seemed worth it. Rosa eyed Kellen and then the professor with a curiously raised brow, her expression still eerily blank as she yawned tiredly.

The chaos continued, much to the Slytherin's amusement as a faint grin worked its way onto her lips. It was barely noticeable but the quirk was there as she watched it all go to Hell. Most of her attention remained faintly on Kellen at least, until everyone's equipment found its way into the air. Rosa watched her own lazily, moving herself back in her chair slightly to avoid the falling of her own equipment with a sigh. "Well then..." She muttered to herself, reaching over to grab all her discarded stuff into her left arm as she stood up and walked out, uncaring to the continuation of the class.

Felix hummed as though in agreement. "Yes, the homeless look certainly seems to be in fashion these days." He eyeballed the students walking around them to make a point, then winked at Jasper. Just to get a reaction, his tongue made a slow, deliberate twirl on the lollipop, before his mouth sucked on it long and hard. For a moment, it seemed as if the candy would break off its stick, but it only came out between his lips with an audible plop.

"Tell your sis she knows where to find me, if she ever changes her mind about the makeover." He said, giving him a wiggly wave with his long, manicured fingers, "Byyyye now."

Jasper was embarrassed to admit that he watched, Felix ridiculous display with that lollipop of his. He arched a brow at him an unreadable look in his eyes. "One day you're going to chock," he said smoothly, stepling back from him.

He snorted, lightly shaking his head. "You're never going to get anywhere with her Felix," he said in mild amusement, she as stubborn as a mule. He gave a light flick of his hand in farewell before turning on his heal and walking away. This conversation hadn't given him what he wanted, whatever the hell it was that he wanted.

He might as well plan his team's Quidditch practice, If anything it might win them back some points when.

Ivy wasn't ashamed to admit that she knew almost all the secret halls, commonly abandoned rooms and even closet. Maybe that said something about her, but she honestly didn't care.

"Mhm." A smile touched her lips as her back pressed against the wall. "Well...you didn't have to follow," she murmured softly, trailing her fingertips down his front until she reached his pants where she dipped in two fingers to tug him forward, a fire in her eyes. "But you did..."

Damn, this one had a stare on him. She didn't resist wetting her lips this time; definitely not as his gaze dropped.

About. Bloody. Time. The mingled breath, impossible close body, had her skin itchy with suspense, until he finally closed the gap between them. She pressed even closer, leaving no space between them, lips parting beneath his kiss. However she wasn't the meek and submissive type in the slightest, she bit his bottom lips, tongue briefly swiping over the sting as she allowed her hands free rein to explore.

Charlie managed to sleep through the whole display of flying pens and paper and the fact half their class seemed to have abandoned ship. He blinked sleepily, pushing himself up, papers and someone's ink bottle rolls off him and fell to the floor. "Huh...is class over already?" He mumbled with a yawn and a sleepy rub at his eyes.

His desk mate had vanished too. Was this another class? Oh well, he could always sleep through this one too, but first...he dug inside his pocket for his special cookies, his favourite cookies for class. He broke it in half then stuffed it into his mouth, momentarily satisfyng his constant hunger but in no way helping it.

A quiet bubble of laughter slipped from him as he looked at his paper. He'd drooled all over it, having no doubt started snoring at some point...maybe that's what woke him? The though made him chuckle again as he wiped the back of his hand across his mouth, smearing away the wet trail.

Oliver didn't need to be convinced. He already stood up before Sanguine had even finished her sentence. A handful of students were already making for the door, so it didn't matter if they cost Gryffindor its house points. Everyone seemed to be losing house points at this time of the year, anyway.

He quickly slipped out the door and turned to Sanguine.

"What do you think that was all about?" Oliver wondered aloud, once again his mind was going a million miles a minute. "I've never seen someone cause so much havoc in a classroom in a while."

Arnold Byrne

Location: Muggle Studies

It seemed that Arnold's gesture was not necessary, as the girl was quick to cast the immobulus spell on the flying items. In the chaos, it seemed some students had left the classroom. Meanwhile, the professor caressed their head, looking like they'd had just about enough for the day.

Gryffindor received 10 points thanks to Lys' quick thinking. The professor decided not to deduct house points from the students who had left, instead opting to give them detention for their behavior. It was a relief to Arnold, who had worried that Gryffindor would incur more negative points. At the rate they were going, they would have still owed points by the end of the year.

The class had to be cut short due to the number of absentees. Not to mention the fact that the professor had already been roughed up quite significantly. A shame. Arnold was looking forward to the first class of the year.

Thanks to you we got some of our house points back. That was some really quick thinking, Lys.

Elliot Graves

Location: -- Muggle Studies
Interactions: -- Arnold Byrne @Adrian
Elliot had grasped his notebook with vice like excitement. So when the spell sent every into the air, the book he held just flew up and cracked him in the face. He didn't care in the slightest, not even as blood flowed from his nose, he simply lifted the sleeve of his jacket to his nose to save his notes, as everything froze in the air.

"I've done it...I've worked it out!" He said to himself, eyes wide with complete delight and that inner light of madness he always seemed to carry.

He leapt from his chair and rushed across the room to Arnold, slapping the book down in front of him. "I worked it out! Arnold I know the ingredients!" A bright smile lit his expression. "We can finish it! Right now!" He exclaimed, wiping his shirt against his still bleeding nose which just fed into his look of mad delight and slight craziness.

The room was quiet apart from their uneven breathing. Kellen groaned at the girl's touch, her lips on his mouth, her bite. It was as if he was running a fever with how hot he was getting. Even though they'd just met, it felt like he'd waited ages for this moment. Those few minutes between now and the first time he'd laid eyes on her had seemed like eternity. And it was clear from her actions that she thought the same.

With her, it was like a constant struggle for dominance, but one he enjoyed. He slipped his tongue between her inviting lips, while his hand travelled underneath her shirt. He'd only just realized he didn't even know her name yet. Well, whatever. There was plenty of time for that afterwards.

He gripped at her wrist with his other hand, pinning it to the wall, as his lips travelled from her mouth to her neck. He did it slowly, torturously, his lips only lightly skimming over that bare, pale skin. He wanted her to squirm, to beg, to be at his mercy for just a moment.

In the haze of their lust, he didn't notice that one of the trophies in the room had started to wobble ever so slightly, seemingly of its own accord.

Lys could only thank whichever deity that steered the professor's decision to not deduct any points from those that left. It was probably a good thing too that quite a number of students left. The professor probably would have a headache trying to deduct points from them all.
Lysandra looked down at he note Arnold passed to her, and she looked up at him with an eyebrow raised.
"The professor has left, you know." She laughed, teasing him slightly at that. She knew he was skittish and nervous. But she couldn't help teasing him at times. Her laughter faded to a smile, "Thank you, for shielding me. That was kind of you." She patted his arm soon as Elliot came barelling towards them.
"I'll see you in the next class!" She picked up her books and left after a wave towards them both.

He didn't back down from her challenge, battled her back even. It had her whole body flushing with warmth and heat, so much heat. A breathless, moan escaped her as his hand slipped beneath her shirt, drawing her closer to savour that touch.

An embarrassingly breathless, needy sound slipped from her, fingers flexing as she tipped her head to the side, all to willing to give him better access. She was well an truly flush with his body now, but it was never quite close enough.

She moved her hand at his waist band, fully intending to get him back for his little act of dominance, and have him a mess beneath her touch, when the sound of shattering glass broke the spell.

Her eyes snapped open, no longer hooded with pleasure, as they flew across the room to the toppled over trophy case, glass covering the ground like a mine field.

Sanguine, much like Oliver, was quickly found leaving the classroom with her supplies shoved hurriedly into her arms with a huff. If she had to stay in the classroom for another minute, Sanguine was pretty sure she would be throwing something in retaliation to whatever chaos just had a book fall on her head. Grumbling curses as she slipped out the door, escaping the flow of students who were also leaving to meet back up with Oliver, a scowl still twisted upon her lips.

"I am not even remotely sure," Sanguine muttered out, shoving her pens into her pockets with a huff, her notebook remaining limp within her grasp, "It was kind of hilarious up until stuff dropping on my goddamned head." She hissed, seemingly sulking slightly before she pushed her anger aside, looking to Oliver worriedly, "Your okay though, right? I saw you got cut-" She just hoped no one else saw it with how quick they healed from wounds. "I swear I will find that little shit and drop something harder on his head..."

Elise Campbell
Location: Muggle Studies -- Interactions: Ash [@ghostly boo]
Not once did Elise ever except a class to erupt in as much chaos as it did today. One minute the teacher was trying to deal with the disruptive student - Armstrong, she noted and the next the room had been thrown into disarray when everyone's belongings fell from the air. Some students, she noted, were already using the distraction to escape the class! Her eyes watched the students carefully from her seat, taking note of who she could that left the class. Her attention was drawn to Oliver Fang and Sanguine Faust - the former more so. The falling books and such seemed to have cut his arm, something that startled her as she went to get up and help her classmate - at least, until she watched the entire wound heal at a rate that was far, far from normal.

Elise blinked owlishly, stunned as her mind raced with the new information. There was no spell cast to heal him and so, Elise tried to figure out how exactly what she just saw even happened. When a few moments passed, Elise having decided to ponder her concerns later, she slumped back tiredly into her seat with a small huff of air. She seemed upset by the small frown that marred her lips, her gaze cast weakly around the room before she turned to Ash, her best friend, "They do all know that they will get in trouble right? They just walked out of a class" she mumbled, leaning over to adjust the order of her classroom equipment back on her desk - her book settled directly in front of her whereas her pens returned neatly, side by side, to the right of her book.

"Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Elise asked, shifting entirely on her seat to look at her friend, who she worried glanced over for any harm, "Did anything drop on you?"

Arnold didn't say anything, but he did wave at Lysandra. He was capable of doing that, at least.

As he gathered his belongings, someone bounded up towards him. It was Elliot. The boy had a euphoric look upon his features, the unmistakable face of someone who'd just had an epiphany.

"Oh," Arnold's eyes widened. That soon? He'd really liked that puzzle. Shame their quest for ingredients was already over. At least they would move on to actually inventing something. That was also interesting and enjoyable on its own.

"Well, what do we need? Do we even h-have time to do it right now? We have Apparition next period."

The last thing he wanted to do was cost Gryffindor more house points for being late to class.

She reacted to his touch exactly the way he wanted her to. She moaned, and he realized he liked how her moans sounded. He wanted to hear more of them, wanted to be the one who elicited them, wanted to be the only one who could. Despite the fact that they were all over each other, it just wasn't enough. There was a burning need--a desire--to be closer.

His breathing all but nearly stopped when her hands trailed towards his waistband. He grabbed her hand, only to guide it further down. Then, something shattered behind him.

"What the fuck--" he turned to find the source of the noise, only to witness the entire shelf of trophies fall to the floor, glass shattering in their wake. There didn't seem to be anyone else in the room, but malicious laughter erupted from the shelves. Clearly, something had been there all along. They'd had an audience.

It pissed Kellen off. Whatever it was, it ruined a perfectly good moment. Being a new transfer though, he didn't know what exactly was causing all this destruction. But he had an inkling.

"Naughty, naughty, you'll get caughty," the poltergeist sang, although it remained invisible like a coward.

Kellen didn't really care about getting caught. He would have kept going, if it weren't for the fact that this pesky poltergeist was ruining the mood with his little antics.

"We're not done," he told the girl, eyes still glazed over with a certain intensity even as he pulled away. "I'll see you around."

With that, he made for the door.
