So I'm sure mobile users on these forums know how difficult it can be getting a decent avatar without having to constantly browse through the gallery available on Iwaku. My proposal is that we have Gravatar, which I know is plausible on forums such as Xenforo, so that users can access avatars through the site.

Hope this all works out fine, as this would be a nice feature to have available.

Gravatar is a really neat feature, but we chose not to use it here on Iwaku because the avatars would be hosted off-site. Using third party services like that can cause lag issues with Iwaku and we would have no control over it. If Gravatar has server errors, lag, crashing etc, that would also affect your loading times here and we'd not be able to do anything about it. D:

We try to keep as much content hosted locally as possible!

That's definitely understandable, I can see how stuff like that could potentially happen, and there's no point taking a risk like that. Thanks for the acknowledgement, nonetheless.
