Hello! So, I've been getting into refurbishing one of my old worlds. And one of the continents I plan to create is to be of mostly vast oceans of arid wastes and onyx-black rock formations. Essentially, massive deserts compose the majority of the this continent, named Antaa'küt. What I'm wondering here is how deserts are formed and maintained, specifically the geographical features capable of causing them.
