Rizen enthusiastically refers to people who are stronger or smarter than him as his mentor, hoping that he might be able to learn a thing or two from those people.

Crit attack model 1

Crit damage = 1.25x
Default Crit rate = 8%, throw a 1/12 dice. If it hits 1, it crits.

Improving crit rate means to decrease the side of dice being thrown, eg. from d12 to d11 to d10, thus increasing the probability to land 1.

Crit is improved by purchasing skills, equipping items, or developing affinities with supporting cast (GM characters).
Player techs can be upgraded to have +crit, techs that players have learned from supporting characters might have innate +crit perks.

eg.
basic = d12
+1crit from combat trait "Predict" = d11
+1crit from combat trait "Predict lv3" = d10
+1crit from character upgrade = d9
+2crit from item "Brave Soul" = d7
+1crit from developing affinity with Han = d6
+1crit from developing affinity with Althea = d5

Notice that crit grows exponentially higher.
+1 increase from d12 to d11 is a meager 1% while a +1 increase from d5 to d4 is 5%

RNG hits 1 time out of 12

If crit rate is 33% (d3) similar to model 2
RNG hits 1 time out of 12
