Off they were at last, divided into two cars.

Considering Cid had done the most work on the cars, Jarmil let the old man have his first pick of a car - then claimed the wheel of the other. He pulled Auggie along with a promise of a fun ride, conveniently omitting any mentions of danger.

There wasn't much in the way of scenery during the ride. Dunes upon dunes of sand, dotted with the occasional patch of grass or plain ground. High above, they could at the very least see the real sky. Or they could have, had a brewing storm not threatened to reduce visibility to zero.

Not that it mattered much to Jarmil. Rain, shine or sandstorm, he drove fast and he drove reckless. Sand blew into the air with every curve and drift, spreading further across the wastelands with every gust that passed.

Still, much as he enjoyed finally getting to drive and going fast, he was painfully aware this wasn't a joyride. Somewhere among the dunes, there was a kid in need of rescue. Finding him came first - he could take the car for a proper spin after. If the storm wasn't unbearable by then, anyway.

He was suggested to check out a nearby knoll. Jarmil needn't be told twice. He hit the gas, drifting wildly across the sands until he came to a jerky stop. Part of a nearby dune collapsed atop the car, coating it in a layer of sand.

"Ladies and gents, we've reached our final stop," he announced theatrically. "Please watch your step as you exit the vehicle. The weather is," he glanced out the window at the sand cloud he'd unwittingly created, "Uhh, very sandy. Cover your face. Thank you for traveling with us today."

He waited for the others to exit, then hopped out and fought his way through the slowly dispersing sand in the air.

"Yoo," he shouted into the vast wasteland, one hand held up to amplify his volume, "Anyone order a ride home?"

Cid had decided to be one of the drivers for the group, not just because he was the one who fixed them up and kept the vehicles running even after they were poorly used from time to time he was a good driver and he rather have the 'frontline' members of ARIES be more focused on looking out for monsters or the kid while also being able to get out of the vehicle quickly. He definitely wasn't going to be the first one running out of the vehicle ready to take a monster head on -- he wasn't a skilled fighter and had too much to live for to casually throw his life away.

The weather was getting nasty and finding the kid was already rather low but with the storm picking up the percentile was getting even smaller. "Sounds good." He replied to Vee as the two vehicles pulled up to the dunes, Jarmil coming up a little hot compared to Cid on the parking job.

With the two parked now and the vehicles emptying, Cid kept the vehicle running and stepped out. He really should of have brought some gadgets he wanted to test out but time was of the essence and running to his shop real quick to gather the items wasn't on the top of his mind when they were leaving HQ.

"Vee did you get the kids name?" They could just yell out for the kid, hoping to be heard if he was even around and still alive. A name wasn't necessary but maybe he wouldn't respond if his name wasn't used.

Yulia Sokolov
Mentions: Everyone in Jarmil's car
Truth be told, she'd wanted to drive. Yet somehow the other VALKYRIE washout of the group had beaten her to the punch. Oh, well. He drove exactly how Yulia liked to anyways, so the only difference was that she wasn't the one behind the wheel. Adequate enough, she supposed. Yulia sat shotgun in the car, one arm propping her head up against the window as she scanned the wastes, her posture seemingly tranquil as if someone's life wasn't at stake.

Nothing yet, though she'd doubted they would have found anything out in the open anyway. If the child had any sort of survival instinct at all, they would have tried to find some sort of shelter, not be stuck wandering the dunes. Hopefully, this wasn't a wild goose chase. The only thing worse than risking their time and lives for gratitude was to fail at doing so. For a brief instant, Yulia wondered how her father would have reacted to Veronica's decision, but she forced the thought out of her mind for the moment, mentally chiding herself. If he'd been here, he'd have smacked her over the head for idle thoughts and sentiment when out on a job. A professional was focused on their work and nothing else.

She sighed as Jarmil drifted the car to a stop, seeming more annoyed at the massive amount of sand and dust he'd kicked up than at the sudden jerking motion of the vehicle. Yulia waited for the group to gather out of the vehicles and on the knoll before piping up.

"We should be looking for any sort of shelter that could be found out here instead of aimlessly wandering. Even a child can figure out to get to cover and shade when out in these conditions. If they didn't, we'll probably be bringing back a corpse anyways." She said flatly, calmly discussing the potential death of a child.
