Augmentation. Nanomachines. Synthetic life. True cloning. Cures for the worst diseases known to man. The list goes on and on, the glory of invention the twenty second century brought. But all those amazing creations are nothing compared to the birth of Faster than light travel. It ushered in a truly new era of discovery. For the first time in history, humanity could reach out, and touch the stars.

We built colonies on far off worlds, discovered new life, everywhere. We expanded and grew a civilization in the distant reaches... But again, as we prove time and time, this was far from our greatest achievement.



In the twenty-second century we invented the FTL drive, and went to space. In the twenty-third, Science gave us sorcery. And brought us to glory.

The irony was not lost on anyone. Neither was the benefits, of entering the age of magic. It let us expand even further. Gave us wonders like the Dyson sphere and terraforming. And the ease it brought to things like medicine and hazard work were certainly a boon. It was a time of great wonders. A generation, of magicians. But unfortunately, all the ages of gold, must come to an end And all great things, must have a consequence. With fire, it was burning. With nuclear power, it was radiation. And with sorcery... It was us.

Using sorcery, being exposed to the raw mana without protection of any sort caused a... defect, of sorts. A genetic rearranging. It wasn't noticeable at first, because it only effected the future generations. It made one in every million births unable to use sorcery, but, gave them a power. A power over one of the eight elements. At first, people didn't know what to make of these special children They tested on us, tried to see what makes us tick, looked for a way to find our limits and potential. But no one much cared to understand, after the disaster of Kepler.



In the year twenty-two sixty, a class four elemental single handily killed over nine billion people, by ripping the world in two. No one knows if it was an accident, or on purpose, but it hardly mattered after the dust settled. Widespread fear surged through the galaxy. Anti elemental prejudice began to form, research was all but halted, laws were passed, and we got a new... "nickname". Mentals. As if we were crazy monsters, or something of the like.

Eventually, it got so bad that a group was formed. One dedicated to hunting down and exterminating us. They call themselves salvation. As if they were sent on a mission to save the galaxy. What's worse is, most governments have given them free reign to hunt us down. Some even fund them.



So, with all the hate, and the fear, we had to hide away. Run for our lives... And we don't know if it will ever end while we still live.

What im looking for in this group is something along the lines of a multiple plot based rp, where, there isn't necisarily an overarching plot, but rather multiple adventures the group goes on within the universe. That said, we can always come up with a master plot if this is successful. anyone that's interested should reply here and i'll answer any questions. I've already added a few bits and bobs about the rp universe below though.

Sorcery: Magic, in the simplest of terms. Ironically, with the help of science, humanity has found a way to fuel the powers of sorcery to do nearly anything, using mana.



Mana: Mana, in it's raw form is a crystalline substance used to power sorcery and magical devices. It's made in special factories, as natural sources form to slowly to meet the demand for it. Mana has a bit of a side effect as well. If you use it without protective gear, it has a chance to alter your genetics in a way that can affect offspring, and create elementals.



SGs: Sorcery gear, or SGs are specialized suits that protect the user from being exposed to raw mana. There are many different variations for different types of work. Medical, hazard, and combat SGs are the most common, but are merely the tip of the iceberg.



Elementals: Elementals are people born with the ability to control one of the eight elements, due to their mana altered genes.



Elemental Types: Elemental types, or ETs, stem from one of the eight elements, which are as follows.



Fire – The element of fire allows users to control and generate flames. The lower classes of fire elementals can only raise heat and control existing flame, but the higher tires have been known to generate massive fire balls and boil people alive from the inside.



Water – Water elementals have been observed controlling existing water sources. These sources are often standing water, but adept users have been observed taking it from plants and animals. Some being witnessed using blood. There are also cases of them using cooling water to the point that it becomes ice.



Atmosphere – This element extends to the use and generation of atmosphere (I.E, air) users can control the air around them, regardless of compositor. Higher level atmosphere users have been able to produce air (both breathable and non) around themselves.



Terra – Terra elementals have the ability to control rock and metal. It's a fairly straightforward element, as the only benefit to the higher class levels, is the area they can affect. The strongest terra elementals known have been able to control entire planets worth of material.



Power – Power elementals can control and generate electric current. Some can even use the ability to interface with electronics on a level.



Sound – The element of sound has multiple uses. If the elemental knows what they are doing, they can mimic any conceivable sound, "throw" the sound somewhere else, and can possibly create low frequency noises that cause paranoia and insanity. the higher levels can even use sound to cause bodily harm.



Light – Elementals in this category can control and generate light sources. Generally, this means they can become invisible and create mirages. Higher level ones though, can generate lasers that can sear and cut through steel.



Dark/Mind – This element deals heavily with mind tricks. Users can cause hallucinations and can have an influence on the thoughts and actions of others. The stronger ones have been observed controlling dark energy to manifest what we call "shadows" which they use to directly affect people and objects.



Elemental Class: Elemental class determines the strength of an elemental. There are four classes so far. One being the weakest, four being the strongest. Class ones and twos are the most common and pose a threat only to their immediate surroundings. Class threes are generally strong enough to topple cities by themselves. Class fours are by far the strongest and can pose a threat to entire planets.

Salvation: The group dedicated to wiping out the elementals. They are well funded and have numbers to spare. They also have a military like hierarchy structure. Within each rank, they have multiple more, but we'll focus on the main five. Recruit, hunter, sorcerer, knight, and paladin.



Recruit: Recruits are entry level members. They're only given the most basic of equipment and missions.

Hunter: Hunters have proved themselves and are given advanced equipment to fight elementals. They also receive the perk of customizable equipment.



Sorcerer: Sorcerers are granted access to SGs and mana based weaponry. At this rank, they can begin to choose their own missions.



Knight: Knights are some of the toughest members of salvation and have received advanced training to better combat elementals.



Paladin: These are the top of the ranks, and the most fierce and loyal of members. They get the best gear, the best pay, and the toughest missions. Even class fours steer clear of them.



_________Worlds (So far)_________



Eremus: Eremus is a planet half covered in lush forests, while the other half is mostly desert. Both biome are dotted across the globe. There are three continents on the planet, two of which are populated by humans.

Eremus is considered something of a backwater planet. While it's major cities are modernized, most of it's population lives in villages of around a hundred or so. Many of them work as farmers of a sort and often participate in what they call the "Sloth trials".



Sloth trials – The trials are a form of competition which involves a local creature dubbed "battle sloths". The event occurs once every four months and is composed of races, beauty competitions, and non-lethal combat.



Battle sloths – The battle sloths (real name, Fera) are large, four legged mammals that are similar in appearance to an earth creature known as a sloth. They are nearly the size of cars and are used as both transport and beasts of burden. Two varieties are known. Sand and forest. Sand fera are covered in scales and have wide claws which they use to dig with. Forest ones are hairy and have long, blunt claws they use for climbing.
 
Might join this when the OOC gets posted. Not sure whether to go Salvation or be an Elemental. Either way, I know I want my character to be driving something like this:
