Darkest Mercy

With all in place, and many an advisor telling him that he was a fool on a fool's errand, Daevas had left word with those he trusted that he would be leaving under the convenient cloak of Winter's chill and the chaotic daylight with it. While one would ordinarily leave under a cover of darkness, Daevas was on a mission bent for the Dark Court and it would be ill-planned to try to enter in the dark. Daevas was flanked by three guardsmen and a single tracker in front of him, cover on each side.

The trip to the Dark Court was long, Daevas rested away from her court at night, hidden in a cave. It was a journey that demanded subtlety and his guard was so perilously small because of this. Daevas wished to surprise Aleena, lest she turn him away ahead of time. Thus, there was no missive telling her of his approach for when he arrived, in searing daylight, at her castle. The guards scrambled, alarmed that the Wraith King was in their midst.

"Tell Aleena that I've come to talk to her" Daevas informed one of the guards, snatching him by the collar of his uniform and tossing him aside. The war was brewing in summer and winter, both had sought alliances and been denied. Winter's alliance plea had been well expected, it was hard to conceal that sort of thing from anyone. Summer had only been left with one possible option, Dark court. War was not generally considered for an ally. At this, Daevas sneered. They were fools, but the Kings and Queens surely had an intimation of the man orchestrating their fates.

Aleena was irritated. The Wraith queen had told her nothing...again. She was storming out of her hallway in the direction of her bedchambers so she could release some steam when a very nervous looking guard scurried up to her. "M...M...Mistress?" She arched an eyebrow and continued walking. He followed. "M..Mistress. The Wraith Lord is here." Her heels clicked to a stop on the cold stone floor. "D...Daevas...Mistress." She turned on the little Fae, her eyes completely black. "I know who he is. Apparently, he does not know who I am to intrude upon my castle uninvited."

A blackness so complete it appeared to turn the falling ice to obsidian fell around the Dark Queen's castle for three miles in every direction, the daylight seemingly extinguished. Aleena had sent the guard to bring Kheldar to her at once and she strode toward the doors with a burning fury that extinguished every light she walked past; leaving her castle in near complete darkness by the time she reached the entrance to her castle. She flung the giant steel doors open and a cloud of shadows rolled down the stairs like a carpet.

"You are either coming to me with an army and an act of war on your lips." She paused, her voice seeming to surround the Wraith king from every inch of darkness. Floating down the shadows Aleena allowed the cloud to carry her until she stood before the king. Her voice then became very soft, dangerously so. "Or you are very, very stupid."

The moment she got home her head was spinning. She wanted more than anything in that moment that their bodies sizzled to share his bed. But she knew his ice would harm her if they ever got that close. Exasperated she walked into her steel-lace loft, ignored the fey that greeted her and fell into her bed, silver party dress still on and passed out into a deep sleep, the warmth of her bed melting the frost that had clung to her skin.

The Queen sleeps an entire day, leaving the court worried and scared. In that day the other courts have been meeting, making alliances and, in some cases, love. Though she was mostly human her fey magic was working, repairing the frost that had bitten her skin the day before.

Finally waking up she pulled herself out of bed, slipped on a flowing gray dress and light pink shoes embellished with steel spikes. Sweeping on lipstick and eye shadow to match the light pink of her shoes she smiled in satisfaction before placing diamonds in decoration around her eyes. Soft for her people, strong for her. (Take a look!: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=35207249)

Taking a deep breath she opened the door into her public lounge. After a few moments of simple conversing she beckoned the guards she had sent to spy last night as well as her advisor, and sweetly asking any stragglers to leave so they could be alone.

Chroma smiled and willed herself to be brave and take any bad news gracefully. "What news do you bring?" She asked.

Stepping forward the spy she had sent for the winter court started. "They are no longer mourning and still lay in the arms of fear that war is on the attack. . ." Looking over to another guard he made a motion for him to speak.

Bravely the next stepped forward. "Summer is in a rage over an attempted assination by a fey of Winter. . ." Hesitating he continued. "And has been meeting with the Dark court."

The next guard stepped forward with square shoulders. Chroma couldn't believe it. The news continued to get worse as they went down the line. "We suspect Dark has been eaves dropping, but they have been hard to spy on and the only things we have been able to determine is what we can gather from news of other courts, and that the queen has been taking more lovers."

The last kneeled then spoke. "My Queen, Dark has also been spotted having meetings with War, we now fear the worst for our court."

The last to speak was her advisor with the worst news of all: "More and more solitaries are pledging allegiance to War, we are loosing our people my Queen." The solitaries WERE her people.

Her mouth had dropped to the floor after the second guard. Now her eyes were rather bugged out and it was all she could do to keep her temper in check and the water in her eyes from spilling out.

Assessing the situation out loud so her advisor could give council she motioned for everyone to sit. Carefully she leveled her voice to hide her horror.
"There is a horrible game a foot here and I cannot yet tell who is behind these strange goings on. The Dark court will remain within everyone's sheets (mentally she noted that she hoped that the Winter King's was not one of them.) and that is none of our concern. What DOES concern me however is why she is becoming chummy with the other court regents. She hasn't been before. "

Mutely they all agreed. "We fear it's to make the necessary alliances for a coming battle." Her advisor added. And from the news they brought she was realizing, that may not be so far fetched a thought.

Sighing she decided how to handle the Dark Court. She wouldn't. As usual she would continue to ignore them. "Ignore the Dark Court."

Next she moved to Wraith and War. "They are blood thirsty and we have remained nearly invisible to their vision, they too we will ignore as much as possible."

The other two courts she had no idea how to handle. Winter was blaming War, Summer was blaming Winter. But what made things even more confusing was Dark was communicating with Summer and War. Winter, from what she could tell didn't feel the same way about her in a romantic sense, only in a business one.

Faltering she began to tear. Her guards frowned and put a consoling hand on her leg, her advisor then spoke. "Chroma, you have two options. We are now in the middle of a very dangerous chess game with fey decades older than you. Make an offensive move or wait until your defensive move is needed."

Taking a moment she knew what she had to do. She needed to get the upper hand. And at this point? She would do anything to get it. Nodding she dismissed them and went to change her clothes. In a hurry she applied all make up that had steel ingredients, eye shadow, lipstick, eye linner, eye shadow, and some body sparkles. The diamonds she had placed around her eyes glittered as she strode out of her loft and into the street. Alone, in the dark, with trendiles of shadows dancing around her. http://www.polyvore.com/dangerous_diamonds/set?id=35210928

Some fey wrinkled their noses at her, some smiled in a way that made her sick, some ignored, and a select few smiled and bowed.

A form grew out of the darkness in stride alongside Chroma. He had disobeyed Aleena to be here but he felt the next move was something he needed to take care of on his own. With the Courts all in motion it was important to get a feel on what was going on. The shape of a hood with a blackened face turned to regard her. "It's dangerous to walk alone at night. Especially at a time when there is so much strife. Lady Chroma...allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kheldar, of the Court of Darkness. I'm a collector of sorts. Information is my trade."

He took a moment to regard her and felt himself thinking along different lines. Aleena would have been very angry with him to find he'd slipped out. More so if she were to figure out what was on his mind at the moment. "Allow me to escort you to your destination. Should someone have foul play in mind, I would be remiss with myself were I to allow any harm to befall you."

He extended his arm to her in an almost regal fashion. A move that might have been a bit beyond his station. Still, he felt like it was proper to do. They might have been from opposing courts, but she was still royalty all the same, and that entitled her to the treatment and rights therin. He waited her decision standing there slightly bent over. His cloak twisted and billowed about as though he was the only one standing infront of a high power industrial strength fan. At least, that was until someone figured out it was also his command of the darkness around them. Draping it over himself like a blanket, covering himself up from being exposed.

Just as expected, Aleena had come to meet him with every ounce of fury that she could muster for the occasion. Daevas was pleased and he smiled to her, the glint in his eyes belying his sweet smile. Two options for him, and amusing that one should be war considering everything at the time but that was not his goal.

"Stand down" he told his guards with a chuckle, considering she'd come right to him. He did not need to tell his men that in a one on one battle, Aleena would not emerge the victor and even she knew not to strike the King. "Aleena, you grow ever lovelier each time I see you... one every hundred years or so? I come not for war, I come instead because I am a fool. My heart has departed me and I am but a slave to its whims. I come seeking your knowledge, Dark Queen. Surely the court that lives in shadows has been spying on its fellows. No, no, don't take this wrong. I come to you in search of my wife."

The guards around Daevas were still on edge, eyeing the guards of the Queen. The other guards did not inspire so much fear, with the Dark Queen putting herself so close. She must really trust in War and his intentions, to put her body so near his own when the fighter of legend stood not feet from her.

"Are you getting nervous on the currents, Queen? To think that I come for war?" Daevas's tone turned silky, his eyes watching her with curiosity.

Chroma tried not to jump when she heard the voice beside her. Look's like her plan to go out and look for trouble had worked, because there trouble sat close enough for their skin to touch. Yes, it was dangerous, but that is precisely what she had been counting on. If it took danger for her to gain some kind of upper hand for her people she would venture into dangers arms.

When he introduced himself things could not be more perfect. The name sounded vaguely familiar. She could only assume he was one of many of Aleena's spies and lovers. Their Dark court had possibly the best spies do to the shadows under their control.

However she couldn't help but shiver when she noticed the black trails of shadow twisting around her legs. (Suddenly she was wishing her dress was far longer than it was.) Whether she was shivering out of a sort of twisted excitement for finally taking a stand for her court or complete and utter fear she had no idea.

Taking his arm she began to walk forward realizing she needed to pick a destination instead of letting him know she had been wandering out alone for, seemingly, no good reason. Quickly she thought of a good neutral dark and metal point. Nightclub.

"Whether I am in danger or not, I'm sure is none of your concern this night. I was going to Area 51." She said referring to the nightclub on the roof of the hotel a couple blocks away. "If you're a man of information I'm sure you're here for a reason." She ventured carefully when she spoke. She also tried to spy what he looked like, but his cloak of shadow made it rather difficult.

Aleena laughed and reached out to grasp Daevas' forearms in greeting. "I did not say that I believe you came for war. But I was gracious enough to allow you to admit your stupidity first. Come." It was a testament to how powerful she knew she was that she then turned her back to the King to lead him to her castle.

She did not speak until she had returned to her throne room. Rather than seating herself on the giant velvet covered throne, she relaxed onto a couch, inviting him to do the same on the one across from her. This, even more than the fact she hadn't killed him for his disrespect, spoke of her willingness to converse with the King more than her desire to destroy the Wraith court.

"Your wife has still not returned to you then?" A sympathetic look passed over her face, "I am sorry to hear of your loss. Do you believe she is still alive?"

Before he could answer, a manservant knocked on the door to the throne room. She ignored it but he entered anyway. "Mistress?" The man trembled, obviously terrified to deliver this news. "I am not to be disturbed, Calias." He nodded fervently but still he pressed on, knowing that the price of not delivering this news would be his head. "Kheldar seems to have left, Mistress...We have searched your chambers and every room in the castle."

Aleena nodded, assuming he had simply retreated to her secret room. "Thank you, I will look into that when I am done. Leave now." The fae, surprised at her indifference, sped from the room as quickly as he could walk. The queen turned an apologetic face to the wraith king.

"I apologize. Were were we? Oh yes...how do you know your queen still draws breath?"

After Aleena, Daevas followed her suit, reclining on the luxurious couch of the Dark Queen. One eyebrow on Daevas's face arched upwards at the interruptions in his conversation with Aleena while she was asking him about the news of his queen. He took in the information being passed, his ears open to the news. One of her servants was missing, though it sounded more as if his was a defection.

"I cannot even begin to consider the thought of my life without her so I have no other option but to believe that she still breathes. I take your curiosity as a sign that you have not discovered any information as to her whereabouts? That is my sole purpose for coming here and I will depart your castle if there is no word of her."

The orders were already in place for his men, including leaving a tracker in place to act as a spy for Daevas. Though he was fond of Aleena, he did not trust her enough not to put spies in place at her court. It was convenient that he was given access to the Dark Castle, he couldn't even hope for such luck with the courts more distrustful of him.

While only the first of his guards had been allowed inside, the tracker had disappeared from sight before the queen had led Daevas inside. Not even Daevas knew where he was, it was up to the tracker to discover a way into the castle. That way, none could betray him.

"But of course it is. Contrary to popular belief we don't all enjoy the idea of a full on war. If there is a way to stop I want to find it. To that end however, I must investigate the causes that are drawing us towards this conflict. Which brings me to you." He glanced ahead at their intended destination. He generally didn't venture out there a whole lot but he generally tasked out minions to this kind of task. He ventured out, but usually only to watch. For Kheldar to have taken on the task of actively harvesting information was something of a rare thing. It wasn't that he felt it was beneath him, mostly just that he had an immense network to manage. There was a lot to be collected for Aleena. Especially if he was to have any hope of averting a war that could tear the court in half and possibly bring harm to his mistress.

"So...there are rumors traveling around creating quite a stir. Many of the courts suspect war is on the horizon. The kind that would pit everyone against each other and tear us all to the ground. I'm curious, what is your take on this?"

As they strode along he forced his cloak to keep itself from trying to coil around her but it was largely alive and had a mind of it's own. As they neared the nightclub he drew his hood back. As he did so, a layer of total black seemed to recede from his features and revealed his face. It was a rare gesture and one he didn't make to many at all outside Aleena, but he needed her to trust him if he was going to have any hope of getting an in way to the winter court.

"They probably wouldn't allow me in looking as I had."

As the cloak fell back she noticed he had a handsome face. She couldn't help but he slightly shocked. YEs she knew they were seductive but she didn't realize amazing looks came with the package. Pushing the electric shock asside from his looks she was baffled he thought she was going to give up that kind of information.

Ignoring his question she passed the line and went to the bouncer, he smiled and hugged her, talking for a moment as if they were old friends then let in her and the man of the Dark court.

The music was thrumming through the dance floor. People were caught up in lust, dance and the dark.

I saw your face in a crowd.
Everyone Dancing.
I asked if they knew your name.
They couldn't see you.

Turning to him in the midst of the dancers, grinders and drunks she replied. "I do not solicit information for free. As I'm sure you don't." Carefully she chose her next words. "I feel all courts are running into danger based off emotion and are not taking the time to properly prepare for any given situation that may arise."

Thought I'd walk over.
Standing right next to you.
I got a sensation.
You went for my body.
We radiate.

The shadows in the room made her uncomfortable. They were all but grinding with her they were so close, with some success she managed to ignore it.

I felt a chill in the air.
Everyone looks kinda strange.
Got us colliding.
This is no ordinary, Friday night Disco.

He could see the discomfort in her expression as they danced. A shrewd mockery at blending in. While others might see him as he wanted them to see if him if at all, for her it was a different story. He closed his eyes for a moment and reigned in the shadows to the point they were barely there unless naturally occuring. He opened his eyes and the darkness faded from them until his blue eyes seemed to emerge out of the shadow. They were locked onto Chroma, fixated like laser designators for a guided munition. She had his complete attention and would yield no less than all of it at any given moment. He took what she said and processed it with a nod.

"What you speak has some merit. Tell me then, in an ideal world where emotion didn't control us, how would you prepare you're court? And how would you seek avert all out chaos?" His tone and inflection was genuine and sincere. He was taking a big risk being here like this, especially disobeying Aleena. But if it meant keeping their court free of war and free of the pain he saw in the winter court kings eyes? It would be worth it. He didn't want that kind of sadness to seep into her heart. Or his own. Still, he'd heard there was a great deal of discontent surounding Chroma and her rule. He didn't get it honestly. She seemed capable enough a ruler as any.

"They are wrong about you, y'know. I think you're doing just fine."

Aleena closed the door on the Wraith king and leaned against it for a moment, her head falling back against the wood. The encounter had gone as well as could be hoped but now she needed to seek out Kheldar. Confidently, the queen headed directly to her bed chambers and slipped inside, shutting the heavy oak door behind her.

She checked the room carefully before parting the shadows that hid her door. Aleena had even drawn breath and begun a sentence as the door to her secret room opened before she realised it was empty. She scowled and banished all shadows from the room in case her spy master was playing a trick on her. But he wasn't there...

Perhaps someone had missed him in the search of the castle. He could be tricky like that. With very little doubt that Kheldar was still lurking around somewhere, Aleena descended the stairs, entered and exited her bed chamber and began a search of the castle, sending her more skilled shadow workers to search also.

By the time she'd reached her throne room...for the second time...Aleena was furious. "If he doesn't make himself visible to me in the next half hour there will be nothing left of him but his own shadow." She growled furiously, stalking back to her bedroom. She wheeled on the manservants following her and commanded fiercely. "When the impertinent fool is found, send him to my bedroom at once. Or your heads will pay for his absence." And with that, the queen disappeared behind the door.

"Vassalage? Unacceptable." His face was dark with rage. "She knows I'd never agree to that.. no.. we have one choice left."

He had changed and the room had been cleaned but he looked on edge. Of all the people he could ask for help there was one he hoped never to hate to, the court that he only dealt with when strictly necessary and even as he sat on his throne his mind ran through every other option.

"To the wraith court." he dictated

"After events of aggression and hostility an imminent state of war exists between the summer and winter courts. nder what terms could we rely on your aid curing this conflict?"

Shorter and less formal than the one to the dark court but he wanted to make it even less, but the decision was made.

"You understand the strategic situation. I await your reply."

His eyes on her, and only on her, sent a thrill of excitement through her body. His eyes were piercing and demanding. She loved demanding. It was something that metal always appreciated. Someone that could stand up to her. But the way things were going she didn't like. The shadows were caressing her skin and he was getting all the information out of her! That is not the way she was intending this meeting to go.

Then he spoke the words that she had been craving ot hera from her advisor, the winter king, her court. She was a capeable ruler. Her body froze the moment he said that. In probably a stupid moment of desperation she spoke the sentence that would seal the fate for herself and 4 courts over.

"I let you find me because I wanted information, not because I would willingly give it. I want YOUR information." Pausing she put on her serious face. "What will it take to get this information out of you? If it's money you desire I can pay it!" Then something clicked. he was of DARK court. Only one thing would suffice in such a trade. "I will share my bed with you tonight, other nights, and for as long as you want every night you come to call. If I may only be given information that will leave me privy to what is going on at the other courts." How fitting for her to frantcially choose a place that had a hotel in it. Had this been his game all the time? Looking as sexy as she could she bit her lower lip and slid her skirt up a little higher waiting for his reply. For her court.

View attachment 3771The Winter King walked, hands clasped behind his back, one frozen footstep after the next. He made his way down the icy hall that led from his chambers and onto a balcony that over looked the courtyard. Although the ice around the land had all but melted away, the courtyard, with its cobble stone pathways and mammoth fountains remained in a perpetual state of winter. As he placed his hands on the stone lined rim of the archway, shards of ice formed in ten sharp points where his fingers were pressed tightly against the stone. In truth, Eldren wasn't worried about the shaky state of his alliance with the Metal queen, he had faith in his army and their skill and experience on the battle field. The thing that bothered him were the feelings he had about Chroma, Eldren feared that they may force him to make irrational decisions in the future.

"Sir, The war council is ready and waiting."

Said a near breathless Amen, who had spent the better part of the morning running from place to place, in preparation for what very well could be an all out war.

Eldren, without turning, nodded his head. He had nearly forgot that he had requested an assembly only an hour prior. His mind was clouded.

<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QVjT2mZG5E8" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" width="425"></iframe>

View attachment 3772The war council was made up of the ten Winter Warlords that commanded his army on the battle field. They were like generals, except they fought alongside the troops, instructing them before and during war. They were not unlike the others in the Winter court, possessing the ability to control ice and snow, except that their powers had been enhanced as they were completely consumed by the ice. They no longer had the ability to shift appearance, like other Fae, but instead took on an Icy form all their living days. They were more or less like machines, running off their frozen powers the way a car would run off oil.

The winter King entered the council room with his light blue robes flowing behind him, leaving quickly evaporating snow in his wake. He took his seat, surrounded by his warlords, five on each side with Amen in the middle and Bishop and Tristam on either side of him.

"I bring you all here today, as I am sure you have guessed, in preparation for War. I believe the Summer court has been manipulated into thinking we are their enemy."

Eldrens words hung in the air like thick fog

"In the event that they attack us, I want you to all be at the ready for I fear they may come at us in full force. We will not launch the attack, but we will be ready to fight and win the battle. I do not wish for the fighting to be done on our own soil, so I have dispatched runners to keep watch just outside the Summer court, when their army is set in motion, we will meet them before they Reach our beloved court…."

He stopped, looking to the icy, emotionless faces of his loyal Warlords.

"Have the army, those that aren't guarding the castle, ready to march at a moments notice."

The Winter court's army consisted of four main units. The Winter warlords, who were the commanders on the field. The Frost knights, who were the main fighting force. The Glaciation Riders, a unit consisting of young women, the only ones who were able to tame, mount and ride the Pegasus that lived in the surrounding mountains. The 'air division' known as the Glaciation riders had proved useful beyond match, event though many in the court were against the use of such young and beautiful girls in war, Eldren highly valued them and would not listen to argument. And lastly the Snow Wolves, showing blazing speed and brutal viciousness during battle. The Snow wolves, and the knights they carried into battle, are the single most feared unit in the entire Winter court army.

Khel paused a moment and blushed. Had...had she just offered herself to him? He wasn't used to being an object of desire beyond Aleena. He'd known her since they were young. He'd been her other half for who knew how long. He knew some of her darker secrets and had supported her through every grim moment. The notion that this woman was willing to have him...for whatever her reasons. He couldn't help himself from glancing aside for a moment as his face turned red.

"I...if that is what you want...then I'll tell you what I know...it's just I've never..."

Clearly something she'd said or done had made him feel off balance. What if someone aside from Aleena could actually feel something for him. He'd spent his whole life covering his face to all but Aleena mostly as a manner of preserving his secrecy from the world at large so he could conduct his espionage freely. Showing her himself was a big risk, but he felt it was required if it meant averting a war. He had to do this himself. It was something he couldn't entrust to any of his charges. It had to be done by himself. For Aleena.

"Sorry I don't want you feel like you have to do anything you aren't willing to..." He backed up as though he was going to turn and leave but there was a moments hesitation where he waited, like he wanted her to stop him. That part of him didn't know why he was waiting.

Had she left one of the Dark court flustered in the face of sex. She couldn't believe it. But she didn't know what to do! He wasn't giving her anything to work with. Simply taking information from her. She needed information from him! And it seemed as though this was the only thing it was going to take to get him to spill his guts. Stammering she watched him falter and started to freak out. She was being denied. By one of the most sexual of all the courts. She was slightly insulted.

Then he continued and explained he didn't want to force her into anything. If it was for her court it wasn't forced. It was necessary. Panicking she watched him start to leave. In his moment of hesitation she grabbed his wrist and yanked him back. She needed this information and she was going to get it.

"Tell me what you know and I will come to you willingly." The few fey in the club were now looking at her suspiciously and she started to feel her panic rising. "Take me up on my offer in a secluded hotel room where no fey will find us or leave." In the next hour she would either go home feeling defeated or feel a mans hands on her. A secretly welcome feeling she hadn't had in a long time. Waiting for him she started to get fidgety waiting for his answer.

"I.." he stammered with a blush. She'd taken his wrist so commandingly he wasn't sure what to think at first. It was true he was a passive personality. Used to living his life being an obscure shadow to everyone elses world. But here...he was someone. To her. In that instant he found something. He nodded to her agreeing after a moment and immediately pulled her towards the exit of the club. As they did so his cloak was immediately alive and writhing about. It billowed like a parachute opening in the wind. Then it seemed to wrap around them and encase then in a 'bubble' of darkness.

"Apologies for the shroud, it simply provides us with some....discretion. Please....lead the way."

As she directed them through the halls, he figured it was proper to give her what she asked. "The Dark Court is abstaining from making a decision until it recieves the whole story. What we know so far is about as much as you know. Someone from Winter has died and War is being pointed with the blame. I wish I could confirm the intentions and what would be stood to gain from all this, so I came to you looking for more answers as well. I was hoping you might lead me deeper into the Winter Court so I could inspect the accusations and damages personally. The Winter Court is also suspected in the Assasination of the Summer King. "

He paused a moment after further thought, "Though, Aleena suspects the assasination may have been a hoax in order to frame someone. But no final decision has been made. And though it's unrelated...I've been unable to find the Wraith Queen for some time. Though I'm not sure if it has anything to do with what is going on or not."

Chroma could barely believe it. A dark court MAN Was being sheepish and not grabbing at anything aside from her hand when he steered her away from the crowd and into a cloak of darkness. Oddly enough his hand in hers sent a rush of excitement through her body. But still she was rather shocked at the fact he was embarrassed. Did she not permit people directly under her control to sleep with her fey? The darkness twisted around her legs and was beginning to creep higher and higher up her thigh.

She was disappointed but at the same time enlightened. So his level of knowledge confirmed one thing. Fingers were being pointed. And she wasn't sure who the conductor of the grand scheme had been. It certainly was interesting that the Wraith queen had been kidnapped. How odd. She had been in the dark about that. And the dark court was behaving quite interestingly as well. No alliances. But she was wanting to get into a court that Chroma suddenly felt protective and possessive over. Dark was NOT going to slither her way into Winter.

Finally arriving at a hotel bedroom door she put her hand on the knob and turned it. How they ended up at the grand suite she had no idea. She walked in for a moment slightly embarrassed but excited all at the same time. "I fear I have no other information aside from this: Winter asked me to be their ally and I denied."

After speaking her sentence she guided him over to the bed and fell backward, pulling him down with her, arms around his neck. Then, hoping that he wouldn't back out now she carefully placed her lips on his.

The lord of summer stood on the steps, overlooking them. "Every man, every woman." he had said. "Everyone who can carry a weapon, arm them and bring them to me." Now they stood before him, rank upon rank, column upon column, a thousand faces all shining up at him with the light of the sun.

He raised his hand after the lase cohort marched into place and a thousand other raised with his and a simultaneous roar from a thousand throats. Summer was at war.

"People." he said his voice carrying over all of them. "Today, a day that will long be remembered, my life was almost wrestled from my grasp, but not by an enemy with the courage I see in your eyes, the honor in your souls, NO! by a coward hiding in shadow and under the orders of a bigger coward, and honorless dog who cowers on his throne and does not have the courage to face us."

He paused for a breath as every soldier gathered remained silent.

"Well today." he pointed in the direction where the winter curt lay. "We will go to them, we will show them the fury of the sun we will show them the meaning of honor, for even though we are weakened and the cold of winter grips our breath and our heart we are the lords of summer and out anger burn brighter than the brightest flame and out strength of not the season, but out valor. We are the children of the sun and so long as it hangs inthe sky we will never bow, we will never succumb. WE WILL WIN OUT!"

He stood for a minuet as his name was shouter over and over again, this was the thrilling moment before the meat-grinder of battle and descending into position with his honor guard he would lead them into the maw of the enemy, to strike right into his icy teeth.
