Kana returned inside with Durion's patrol as he was pretty sure his designated guard was freezing by this point and he knew Elidi would be disapproving if he did the same thing to the guard as others had done to him. No, he wouldn't make the poor Light Elf suffer the snow and wind anymore. Such were the Prince's thoughts as he came back inside and the while the snow and ice started to melt from the others, it stayed on Kana for a great deal longer despite the heat in the lodge.
The Dark Elf moved to the doorway that led to the sitting room, his eyes falling on Elidi and his ears catching the rhythm of her breathing. He felt some relief flutter through him to hear that they weren't so shallow and after a time he approached the couch and crouched in front of where she lay, ignoring the fire at his back and even forgetting in a way the guards that had frozen, watching him.
Kana reached out without a great deal of thought, something he'd done many times since they'd been traveling together now, and he touched the backs of his fingers to forehead and then cheek, checking to see how warm she was compared to him. He was glad to feel that her temperature was regulating itself to something normal for her kind - though, he did hope he'd not woken her with the cold of his skin.
The relief was short-lived as Kana heard the slight scraping sound of a blade itching at its scabbard and he stood, turning quickly. His stance was defensive, but against all instinct, Kana didn't draw a blade - though, he had a few - and his hawk-gold eyes met the light brown of Durion's.
"Just what do you think you were doing, Dark Elf?!" the lead elf hissed and Kana realized his mistake. He glanced down at Elidi and then back up, trying to keep his tone neutral. He didn't want a fight - well, most of him didn't anyway.
"I just wanted to see how she was. I've been caring for her because there was no one else while we traveled."
Durion seemed to struggle with accepting that, but finally he slipped his half-drawn sword back into the sheath and glared at the Prince. "Very well, but do not make such an error again. Do not touch her."
