Name: Capitán Desiderio
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Species: Human
Family: None. They've all been taken by the plague.
Personality: Stubborn, but justly so. He's full of fears but hardly lets them dictate his life. He's a bit on the quiet side; a lover of small conversations between the closest of friends. Though this isn't to say that he avoids his crew when they gather together for telling tales and the like. He's a calm man who exudes a natural charisma that makes it hard to dislike him and draws others to follow loyally, even when his plan of action might seem a bit dangerous or extreme. This is precisely why he has a crew willingly helping him on this expedition.
Desi doesn't voluntarily speak about his past, though close friends are informed about his time as a Spanish Navy Officer and about the loss of his family.
History: Born and raised in a Navy family, Desi's father was a Spanish Officer as well as his three brothers, so naturally he followed suit. He was a good leader and a loyal officer until he and his crew were betrayed in the name of greed - he won't really elaborate though.
When he returned home, it was to find his wife and children dead and his parents and brothers already long buried. Two of his brothers had died at sea and the other, like the rest of his family, had contracted the plague. After his wife and children had been put to rest, he fell into depression. He lived off of the bottle for a year and his turning point came when he grew brave enough one night to sort through his oldest son's possessions.
He found an old book - one handed down through his wife's family from her to their son. It was bound in leather, written on crumbling parchment. It was a fairy tale about how if one traveled to the edge of the world, he would not fall off into nothing, but rather he would find himself facing a shimmering wall. On the other side of that wall was a completely different land - a land that could not be fathomed by the people of this one they lived in. The book told of the wall being neither solid nor gas nor liquid, and that the pace at which the sun and the moon moved was impossible to predict. And perhaps it had been his intoxication but as he read through the book for the millionth time, as fingertips traced the script and the illustrations, a feeling stirred in his gut.
From that point on, Desi worked many cargo shipping jobs with his father's boat, saving money for 4 years, steadily building a trustworthy crew who helped him sober up. They supported him in his quest, and even though it was a far-fetched goal, these men were just like him in the sense that they had nothing to lose.
And so they set off.
Current Goal/Purpose: To travel to the end of the world and pass through the shimmering wall. To discover a new world.

Name: Cora Jenkins- Jink for short.​

Family: Orphan- Mother (deceased) was a prostitute, father (unknown) was a sailor of some sort.​

Personality: She's a real live wire, pretends to be one of the guys. She gets in fights to prove she's tough and often wins them even though she's scrawny for a guy. She's very prideful and hangs around the questionable crowds, looking for adventure. She wants to become a pirate- not just any pirate, but the greatest captain ever to sail the seas. Street smart, not book smart. Cannot read or write anything but her name.​

History: She was born and raised in a brothel until she was six. Her mother died and she was too young to work so she was thrown out on the streets. Ran with street kids for years until a rival gang chased them out of their territory and split them up. Spent the next two years working disguised as a boy, begging and stealing in the area around the ports. Became friends with a few local sailors and a few local pubs. Learned how to dance and sing and speak like a sailor.​

Current Goal/Purpose: While slumming around the seeder parts of town during a questionable job she gets sold to a pirate crew looking for new meat. They are filthy and cruel and stupid enough to believe that she's a boy. She's got to do her best to make her way off that ship with her new friend Ricky- and possibly a large sum of the treasures from the hold. While "apprenticed" to one of the more questionable members of the crew she hears of a treasure that would not only bring her more money than she could ever spend in a lifetime, but fame enough that her name would be spoken worldwide. Luckily for her, she knows where the map is. On the ship of the current ruler of the high seas and the arch enemy of her current captain. Oh dear...​

Appearance: Short brown hair that she use to keep only a few inches long, but has grown out to chin length in the few months of her capture. Thin face, round nose, amber colored eyes, underfed, lanky with muscle. Tall for a "guy her age", the others think she is 13. Has plenty of scars all over and her left ear is pierced with a pearl stud. Typically wears lose pants with a large bandanna like sash around her waist. A lose shirt, open vest and has her hair pulled back into a ponytail. Carries a shiv (knife) in her boot and a key to something unknown around her neck. Chest bound (not that there is much to bind)​
