The Dark
This is a theme that can go in a number of ways. I'm more referring to being in darkness itself, though. Like a room with the lights out, or a cloudy evening that makes it difficult to see the moon and stars. Spend a few minutes thinking on how you feel about the dark. Does it scare you? Inspire you? Do you think it's beautiful, or dull? Or perhaps it's like home to you? Maybe you're indifferent?
I am also going to suggest a specific form for us to practice with. It's called a Tyburn. This is a 6 lined poem with quite the syllable pattern: 2, 2, 2, 2, 9, 9. According to my source, the first four lines are meant to be descriptions that lead up to the last two lines, which must rhyme. I will provide some examples that can illustrate better than I can explain:
